Deleting Tracks Through Zen Micro Organi

I used Zen Micro Organizer to delete duplicate tracks from the player but although the tracks were deleted in the organizer, they remain on the Zen Micro player. I tried using the synch feature but it says there are no tracks to transfer. Deleting tracks one-by-one on the player itself is tedious. How can I mark and delete the duplicate tracks off the player using Zen Micro Organizer?

  • Media Source - 'file of this name already exists' transfering tracks from Zen Micro to

I've come home for the weekend, and I'm trying to transfer a few albums from my Zen Micro to my Mum's PC for her. Normally this works fine, but for some reason today I keep getting the message 'A file of this name already exists' for about 80% of the tracks I try to transfer. One or two tracks from each album will work and the rest will fail.
These are new tracks and they definitely aren't already in her music library - I've double checked the C dri've too.
I'm given the option to overwrite the exisiting tracks, so I gave that a try with one album, but the tracks still aren't didn't show on there once I'd transfered, despite the track number not going up, so god knows what's been overwritten with those!
    Can anyone help?
    Cheers!

Your firmware is not the PlaysForSure version.
Anyway, I just want to make sure that you have set up the directory and file naming convention correctly for MediaSource. Here is what you should do:
    - Launch Creative MediaSource Oragnizer.
    - Go to Tools->Settings->PC Music Library and click Properties. Set your preferred folder and file naming convention. Close the setting page.
    - In the Sources window, click to view PC Music Library.
    - Go to View->Right Panel View and select to view your MP3 player.
    - Transfer the tracks from your MP3 player to MediaSource's PC Music Library by clicking the arrow pointing from right to left.
    - If you have updated the track information of the tracks in your MP3 player, the updated track information will also be imported into the PC Music Library database. However, the tags of the files are not updated. Here is what you need to do. Right click the PC Music Library node in the Sources window or right click on any tracks in the PC Music Library window and select "Update Tag". This will update the tag of all the tracks or the selected tracks with the track information as seen in the PC Music Library.

  • Zen Micro organizing & editing fold

I have the 5 MB Zen micro & have done the firmware update (v2.
). After doing the upgrade my files have changed in the Media Organizer. All my music files are listed under the artist, BUT if the artist name is mispelled or different from another file, it creates a seperate folder.
    So here are my questions:
) How do I edit the names of the folders to 'combine' the folders?
    2) This is what I would like to do, but am not sure if I can. Is there a way that I can have my songs listed by the artist, so when I click on the artist name it opens up & all their songs are there? The way it is now is you click on the artists name, they may have multiple folders under that (albums I'm assuming) & you have to click it again to get to the song. It's just a pain in the butt.
    Thanks for any help!!

. I'm not sure. Have you tried viewing in Windows Explorer to see if you can edit there? Have you tried dragging and dropping the tracks in the wrong folders to the right folders?
    2. Again try dragging and dropping. The structure you have now is probably based on the folders you dragged to the player, or maybe on what MediaSource was set to when you copied.

  • Zen Micro Organi

I have a Zen micro with firmware 2.00.2 and I am using Zen Micro Media Explorer .00.
I loaded some tasks and calender events onto my player from outlook just to see if it worked. It did 8)
The problem I am having is removing the tasks and calender events.
If I delete them from outlook and resync my player (one way from PC to player), they remain on my player.
The official support knowledge base said that I sould be able to go to 'transfer data between PC and device' function of the Media Explorer program and then click on 'settings' icon, then 'clean up organizer'. Unfortunately, there is no such option in my settings.
    Any ideas?

I would suggest upgrading your current version of Zen Micro Media Explorer. I have version 4.00.03. You can get it by clicking Support > Downloads on the main siteMessage Edited by njlx06 on 05-04-2005 :2 PM

  • Deleted items in zen micro v 1.11

I would like to know whether is there a software utility to recover deleted items or not.
I was testing my brand new Zen Micro :-) and I tried some microphone recordings. Then, as I hadn't get used to the touchpad enough, I accidentally deleted the wrong ones :-( I haven't recorded again to prevent overwriting of the files, since I know that one can recover deleted items in a pc hard disk while one doesn't overwrite the area where the files were.
    My question is then:
is there a way to recover deleted files from the Zen Micro or deletion is irreversible?
    Thanks in advance,

Yes, it works on Windows XP Professional x64

  • Tracks in Zen Micro not displaying in MediaSou

I have had a Zen Micro for about 6 months. Until recently there have been no problems. The player worked fine and interfaced great with the software applications. I recently bought a Micro Photo and installed the software for it on my pc. After I did so I began having problems with the original Micro. When I connect the Micro to the pc it shows as docked, MediaSource opens and asks me if I want to organize my files. The Micro displays in MediaSource but when I try to organize none of my tracks display. The tracks are on the player and play just fine. Also, when I tried to create a playlist on the player itself it tells me there is "no free space" although it shows I have 843MB of space left. Can anyone help me. I do not want to have to wipe the player clean and reload everything. There is too much on it.

When you update the firmware, you have to update the software. The latest version of Mediasource and the PFS driver is located on Creative's Download page.

  • Deleting tracks from zen mi

I have deleted tracks and albums from both the player and the mediasource, yet when I put it on 'random play all' the deleted tracks still play! Am I doing something wrong? I can't see what else I can do to get rid of these!
    Please help!

Are you deleting the track from the Now Playing section? That will only delete the track listing in that section and not the actual file. If you need to delete the audio file from the player, you should go to the 'All Tracks' section in Music Library and delete from there.

  • I'm confused with Zen Micro firmw

Ok, first of all, I know this has probably been asked before, but I looked through the FAQ and searched the forum, and still didn't find what I was looking for.
What am I looking for? I'm not really sure, to be honest, but I guess I want to know if I should upgrade my firmware. I'd simply like to find some info about all the firmware versions. I have no need for fancy features or "PlaysForSure" (I'm confused about PlaysForSure too, but nevermind). I just want my player to connect to my PC, transfer some songs (I don't mind it being through Zen Micro Media Explorer, it's totally fine by me), and then play my songs for me.
I also read something about power issues, but it's all very confusing. I remember seeing some post about a patch making it even worse or something, back a few months ago when I was deciding which player to buy. That's why I'm a bit sceptical about this upgrade, and want it done right.
So.. That's about it. Which firmware should I use if I just want to fix problems that are there now? I'm currently using the default firmware version my player was bought with; .0.03.
(Oh, and I'm assuming that the fact that my Zen Micro was bought in Sweden does not matter. It's more convenient to buy it in the country I li've in =P)

question... I'm bit confused about the firmware also. I heard that there was a 2.(or somthing like that) and a . firmware for zen Micros. I'm currently using the . firmware for my Zen Micro. What is the difference between the 2. and . firmware? Or is there even a 2. firmware version? I ask because i keep hearing about a 2. firmware version for Zen Micro, is it true?

  • Zen Micro Manual Booting Prob

Hi there,?Since two months I got the Creative zen Micro player, but now I got a problem. The problem in fact is that it wont boot when I hold the button. It ony boots when i connect it to the Pc. The same problem is there with shutting the zen player down, when i hold the button it wont shut down. When I want to shut it down I have to remove the battery first. I tried to search for this problem on other forums, but I didn't see this problem on any topic. I have updated the firmware, but that didnt helped, I am afraid that it is an Hardware problem.... Does anyone have a clue ?Dirk

apuffer: What happens is that if you connect it before installing the drivers it will mark the player as not having any drivers (normally you'd be prompted to intsall, and typically people cancel out of it).
There's a known problem caused by Quicktime 7, so firstly check for that and uninstall. Then try reinstalling the software again.
Assuming it installs OK hopefully it will pick up on the drivers being present, but if it doesn't just go back into Device Manager and delete the driverless Zen Micro device. Then physically disconnect and reconnect the player, and the drivers should install.

  • Organizing Zen Micro

I purchased a Zen Micro (my first MP3 player) over the weekend. I've loaded quite a few files, and now I want to make sure I don't end up with a mess of thousands of tunes with no organization. Can someone give some guidance on how to manage playlists etc so that I can keep the Micro organized?
For example, I just ripped a 20 track CD using the MediaSource Organizer. All MP3's ended up under the album "Recordings" even though it knew the album name. I thought that it would have kept the album name on the Micro. Am I doing something wrong?
Is it a good idea to group each CD under its own playlist? Can I do this automatically as I rip my CDs?
    Etc, etc...
In other words, I'm looking for advice on setting up a sensible structure on the Micro...
    Thanks
    Derek
    ps.
I really struggled with the QuickTime 7 problem on install. I found the problem after about four hours with the debugger, but I sure wish I had found this forum and the sticky notification first

The key thing with the Micro as far as organisation goes is making sure the tracks have tag data. See my Nomad Primer for more on this.
An album shouldn't end up under recordings, so I'm not sure what happened there. Unless the album name got confused.
There's no need to rip CDs to a playlist. You have album and artist categories in the player's music library.

  • Zen micro: mine displays incorrect track duration t

    Hello all,
I've had my zen mirco since january 2005, and i've noticed that a bunch of the tracks display the incorrect duration time...usually by around 40 seconds. for example, windows (and windows media player) will say a track is 6:02 duration and zen explorer and the device itself will say the duration is 5:35.
in fact, a bunch of my songs on my zen micro say that the duration time is 0:00 when they clearly are not. when these tracks are played on the device, the track time bar is completely full and plays normally.
has anyone else noticed problems with duration times?
although all the songs play normally (ie. they dont get cut off) its just annoying that i payed so much money for a device that shows incorrect information. and when i try to skim through a track that shows 0:00 duration, it just skips to next song when i press the >> button. weird huh?

onemanarmy wrote:i always rip using constant bit rates, and i choose either 92 or 320; using windows media player. while we on this subject of cd ripping, what do suggest is best format/settings for ripping, and which program, if there is a difference?
As per the FAQ, it's down to the ears of the individual. You might prefer a particular codec or bit-rate, whereas someone else might not like it. It's best to experiment for yourself.
In terms of MP3 though, LAME is widely acknowledged as being the better codec for high bit-rate music encoding. Most rippers can be configured to use this.

  • Zen Micro Track Numbe

I?ve had a quick search through the archi'ves on this found similar stuff but not this one.
Ok I have my albums in the player using the Zen Explorer. My problem is all the track numbers are 0.
I don?t want to go to each on and type numbers because I am right lazy! So can you somehow select all the
Track numbers and get the program to assign a track number?
With them being all zero or a mixture of 0 ? - 5 etc does this affect the way the zen micro plays them back?
TaMessage Edited by RedArmy on 03-24-2005 :38 AM

Most tagging programs will do this for you. I use MP3 Library, where you select the tracks and assuming they're in order you just select the automatic option, and save all, then it autonumbers.
The Micro will use the track number field to play in order.

  • Zen Micro: Re-ordering tracks in a playli

Hi. I love my new Zen Micro, there is just one thing that I haven't worked out with it yet.
Can you, and how do you, change the order of tracks in a playlist, and in the Now Playing playlist screen? I just want to be able to move a single track up or down in the list. I remember being able to do this with my old old Zen USB2.0 by just choosing 'move' or something like that after pressing the menu button. No such thing seems to be in the menu on the Micro.
If it turns out that this is not a current feature, may I make a polite request that it be implemented in a future firmware release? I'd think it'd be a pretty simple thing to add, and without it, the ability to create playlists on the fly is a bit crippled, don't you think?
    Thanks.

just wondering... I just got a Zen Micro, and have only visited these forums for days...
I've seen a few other folks in these forums request, demand, suggest that functions be added to firmware updates.
Is Creative actually in the habit of adding ANY additional functionality to any existing product, through firmware? Or do they just save those ideas for new products, and make us buy those instead?

  • Zen Micro: changing volume through programmi

Does anyone know a way to change the volume of a Zen Micro other than using the scroll bar? Can it be done through Creative Media Explorer or some other computer program rather than through the Zen itself? As I said in a previous post, I'm having scroll bar problems, and if I can just force the volume to change without using the scroll bar, at least I'll be able to play music.

Alas, I am no longer under warranty, and at the moment am not willing to pay $25 plus whatever else the repair costs to get my Micro working again. I did, however, just buy a $2 wired remote control, which solves the immediate problem of not being able to hear anything at all from my player. (Raising the individual volume levels of songs hardly helps when the player itself is effecti'vely on mute.) Saving playlists, etc, is still impossible, but at least I have my music for the moment.
