I SIMPLY WANT TO REMOVE A DUPLICATE SONG IN MY PLAYLIST,IN I-TUNES 'HELP SAYS PRESS THE 'DELETE' KEY........WHERE IS THE 'DELETE' KEY?????
i TRIED THE DELTE KEY ON THE COMPUTER, THAT DOESSN'T WORK???
WHAT AM I MISSING???
THANKS

Make sure you are highlighting the song in your iTunes library or in a regular playlist and not in a smart playlist (which maintain the songs in the list based on set criteria so preventing you from deleting from one). Click on the Music icon underneath Library in the source list to bring up your song list in the main pane, locate the song(s) there that you want to remove and you should be able to delete.
Click on the song you want to remove to select it and then press the Backspace or Delete key on your keyboard: How to remove items from iTunes - Windows

  • How to delete tune without iTunes

    Hi,
I have a problem, I have some old podcast which I like to keep on my harddrive. Then I got the ipod, so I want to store the podcast episodes there. But dragging direct from Finder to ipod show me it copied but didn't appear under podcast. I found out after a few trial and error that I should have added the podcast to iTunes before dragging into ipod. So...
Good : Finder -> iTunes Podcast -> iPod
    Bad : Finder -> iPod
So now those files I drag direct from finder into ipod are in the ipod but I can't get rid of them, cause they don't show up in the iTunes list. It shows up in Senuti and iPodDisk, but both don't allow me to delete the song. Now I can't drag those podcast episodes in to ipod from iTunes podcast anymore. It somehow recognise that the file exist on the ipod but wouldn't list it on the podcast.
So, back to the question, How to delete tune without iTunes?? thanks

Did you try using the Finder? I'm trying to accomplish similar management tasks. Finder seems far superior to itune management, for podcasts management. This might work-- First quit itunes.
Use a finder window, not spotlight, search itunes and single-click on any folder by that name. Notice which of these files is in your startup disc (in case you have other bootable drives connected)-- Notice the little icons on the bottom of the Finder window. Double click on "iTunes Music" at the window bottom. A new Finder window should open. I recomend the list mode, selectable at the top left of Finder window. Now you should be able to view all your itune- contents on the computer. It seems these files can be deleted, but one must remeber to empty trash before going further. Unfortunately this approach won't allow adding new folders that will show up in itunes.

  • Accidently hit Delete Tunes on iPhone 4S in Settings, is there anyway I can Restore them?

    Hope someone can help ....
I hit 'Delete Tunes' (accidently of course) in Settings on my iPhone 4S, I do have all receipts for the downloads, but clueless what to do or who to contact. Is there a way I can retreive them back?
I appreciate all help, much thanks.
    Ms-Celtic

This forum is for questions from those managing sites on iTunes U, Apple's service for colleges and universities to post educational material in the iTunes Store. You'll be most likely to get help with this issue if you ask in the general iPhone or iTunes Store forums.
    Regards.

  • Accidently deleted Tunes in Settings on iPhone, is there a way to restore them?

I accidentally hit 'Delete Tunes' in Settings on iPhone, is there anyway I can get them restored? I have the receipts, was 11 Tunes, my very first downloads. I would appreciate any and all help.
    Thank you,
    Ms-Celtic

All of the media should be in iTunes on the computer.
Connect the device and sync the content back... the same way it was put on the device to begin with.

  • Deleting tunes from hard drive and not ipod

I don't want to keep all the tunes on my hard drive, that I already uploaded into my ipod.. when I went to delete the files, through itunes it said next time I update my tunes, those will be removed from the ipod ?? So how do I delete them.. thanks

now a computer geek friend told me.... just don't delete them... YOU WIIL need to reload the ipod sooner or later and you'll be glad it's all there... I'll have to see how my hardrive holds up.. it's only a 20 gig itself.... I really don't want to drop any more dough into this thing, so I don't plan on buying a second hardrive

  • Itunes Match tunes corrupted on Iphone 6 - deleting tune or redownloading doesn't fix.

I have several tunes I matched with itunes match from my mac.  those play fine, if I delete and redownload from the cloud they play perfectly.
However, After getting my iphone 6 and recovering my backup, I went ahead and clicked on a lot of tunes / albums / artists to redownload to my phone from the cloud.  I went to bed and all transfers but a few seemed to have downloaded.  However, when I play some songs, they are corrupted... it will display the proper song's name, proper length, good album artwork, however the song will be only 20s short OR the song will start normally but after 10-20s it is another song that plays.
I have tried to delete the song and redownload.  I have tried reboots, I am at the latest update version of IOS.  I tried deleting and streaming from cloud... nothing changes, the song stays corrupted (as if cached this way)
Before I go with a clean restore + redownloading all in the hopes of clearing the cache, does anyone have any idea on how we can clean up the downloaded cache or ensure all works properly with itunes match?
Overall, I am a bit disapointed about this service... especially having to reclick all tunes to redownload everything instead of a sinple "sync" back to reality.... and then the corrupted tunes , bleh.

    ever figure this out?

  • I can't delete tunes from my ITunes library

Both "Delete" and "Cut" are grayed out from the EDIT menu so I'm no longer able to delete music from my ITunes library on my Mac. I recently installed the latest version of ITunes (10.4), which I'm guessing might have something to do with the problem since I've deleted songs before. I've restarted the computer to no avail. I'd love to hear any suggestions anyone is willing to offer. Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestion, Allan. I can't believe that worked since "Delete" is still grayed out from my "Edit" menu, but highlighting the tune and hitting the "Delete" key removed the song (it was a duplicate). Thanks for the suggestion, I appreciate your help.

  • Deleting library entries without deleting tunes from hard drive

    how??
    thanks...

Try this on one song so you're sure it works...just highlight a song, and press delete.
You should get a message asking if you want to delete the file, if it's in the itunes music folder (from itunes preferences).

  • Error: Deleted Tunes from Folder and Substitution of Old Tunes!

I surf Itunes evaluating songs I am considering buying. When I find one, I transfer the 30-second clip to a folder designated TOP TUNES. At the end of the week, I listen to the collection and make purchases. Two days ago, I opened Itunes and saw an error message--but didn't understand it and ignored it. When I started surfing Itunes for potential songs to buy and found one, I transferred it as usual to TOP TUNES. When I looked in the folder, instead of seeing a list of about 100 songs I had not purchased, I saw a listing of 50 songs I had ALREADY purchased! I can not find the list of all the songs I spend hours surfing which were potential purchases for me. Itunes should be very concerned about this since WHEN I DON'T HAVE MY CUSTOM LIST FROM WHICH TO CHOOSE TO MAKE MY PURCHASES.... I DO NOT BUY ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This ONE folder "TOP TUNES" was the ONLY folder affected. I believe that a copy of this folder or of the original information in that folder is still on my computer somewhere. Has anyone else experienced this?

It is hard to tell what is going on from what you say, but one observation:
If iTunes saved purchased music in the Top Tunes folder, it suggest that it somehow go made you iTunes Muisc folder - the folder iTunes uses to store new music.
To check, go to Edit>>Preferences>>Advanced>>General. You will see the location of the designated iTunes Music folder at the top.
As for finding you clips, if you can remeber the name of one of them you could use Windows search, or even a general Windows search for music files/files with the appropriate extension. Also check your recyle bin.
BTW I notice you have put your operating system as irrelevant. It can actually be quite important when trouble shooting.

  • TS4062 When manually syncing music from my mac to my iPod touch, when I delete tunes from my manual list and hit apply, these songs remain on my iPod?

When manually syncing music from my Mac to my ipod, if I delete from my list and hit apply, the songs are remaining on my ipod? It just started doing this.

You need to select the songs on the iPod (in iTunes) and hit Delete.
Since you are Manually managing, Apply doesn't do anything to Music on the iPod.

  • How can I see previously stored tunes no longer on my computer? Where are iCloud audio files?

Maybe my question has an answer too "obvious" for me to see it.  But lately I've become aware of tunes that, for one reason or another, are not showing in my iMac's iTunes program. I went to System Preferences and clicked on "iCloud."  Immediately, I saw how to check iCloud for the following files and documents: Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Notes, Safari (not sure what this category could be for--seeing what was on the web at some prior point in history?), Photo Stream, Documents & Data, Back to My Mac, Find My Mac.
In other words, going to iCloud appears to reveal categories for all of your iCloud content EXCEPT your music files.  I know about iTunes Match, and I think I like it, now that I've gotten used to a few of its quirks.  But certainly there are times when the owner of downloaded, commercial audio files (i.e. Tunes) will not have them on his computer.  And certainly there must be a way for me to see what I've previously stored in the Cloud--if only to remind myself of the music I've purchased and have available to me.
I may be missing something about the whole iCloud concept.  Is there a way for me to see tunes I've previously stored in the iCloud but no longer have on my computer?  (I'm always careful not to delete tunes from my iTunes program unless I see 2 or more identical files appearing on my computer).
Thanks for any directions to the iCloud musical holdings / archives--or clarification of any misunderstandings.
    Cap
(I see that I'm currently running OS 10.8.2.  I have only 500 gigs of memory, and my music collection is so larg, I'm almost dependent on being able to access songs in the iCloud.  Next time, I'll certainly pony up for the largest memory Apple offers on an iMac.)

They are not showing up in Lightroom at all. I already deleted them.
When I try to import them again into Lightroom it wants to add another 2012 folder to wherever I am trying to insert them and then it does the month/day folder when it already has the month folder it should automatically go into and not be adding a seperate 2012 folder first.
I can't even get it to do the above right now. Now all it does is it wants to make this seperate 2012 folder with the month/day folders but has little boxes beside each folder showing that there are no images to import. The images do show up on the import screen but they are all darkened and unchecked. When I click the proper folder to import them they come on bright and have little boxes checked, but that lasts for less than a second before it decides they are not new. They are new images, I deleted them all out of Lightroom, and probably missed deleting some through Lightroom but instead deleted them straight from the folder outside of Lightroom. This is what is probably causing me such grief and I have found nothing in my searches to tell me how to correct this. *sigh*

  • App Store says, "Tuner! and 4 other apps could not be downloaded at this time. Please try again later." How may I appease the Store?

App Store says, "Tuner! and 4 other apps could not be downloaded at this time. Please try again later."
How may I appease the Store? The message first appeared a couple of weeks ago and seems to reappear every time I download something from the App Store, be it an update or a new app. I tried re-downloading and re-deleting "Tuner!" (this is the only one whose name I can see), but to no avail. I even tried hiding a whole load of apps from my Purchased list (including Tuner!) in the hope that the five offenders would GO AWAY and stop waiting around being nuisances ;) I haven't noticed them slowing down/stopping my other downloads, so I never paid the pop-up notice much attention, but it is starting to bug me now.
Thank you if you can help.

I have been getting the message from time to time over the last couple of weeks.  I just click through, and the download haooens anyway.      The other day I looged onto my accout in apple.com, and it simply wanted me to verify the ccv on the credit card.
I am glas your solution worked, but I am not sure you needed to do a full wipe and reinstall.   There is some goofy stuff going on with the store, but nothing you can't get by.

  • My music doesn't show up under my Touch. HELP!

When I connect my brand new 64g iTouch to my laptop (Dell Inspiron Windows XP) it shows up in iTunes but it doesn't list the music, videos, playlists, etc.
    BUT-----
If I want to copy a song that is already on my library, when I click on it and drag it to my Touch, the menu magically appears, but as soon as I let go of the button, poof, it's gone! Everything is on my Touch. But I need to delete some tunes from my Touch, but I can't because I can't see the darn library!
Oh-and I also get this strange message that syncing can't be done because dataclass services can't get info from syncing services. What the heck is that? Meanwhile, it says in the upper window that it's syncing and updating and my Touch says "sync in progress".
Also, I do have the 9.0 version of iTunes.

Wait-I deleted tunes from my daughter's Touch last night. Does that now mean they are now gone from my library? I'm at work, so I can't check!

  • ITunes 10.6.3 (25) & ML 10.8.1--moving music in playlist stuttering

    Good Morning,
    I'm running Mountain Lion on 7 different machines. Our workhorses are our iMacs...2--2011 core i5 (2.7GHz/12GB RAM/1TB HDD) and 2--2010, I believe core i3 (3.2GHz/12GB RAM/1TB HDD). As well, we have 2 17" MBPs (2011 Core i7 2.5GHz/8GB RAM) and a 2012 15" Retina MBP.
All of them, EVERY single one of them is stuttering while moving tracks within playlists.  If my playlist is longer than the actual 'Windowed' area of iTunes...and I attempt to move the track 'up' the list---it's not smooth any more (as it was in Lion, SL, Leopard, et al)....in the past OS'es...if you click, hold and move a track 'up' the playlist....got it near the top, it would start smoothly 'moving' the list up while you looked for your drop zone:)  Hope this makes sense, because it's really, REALLY annoying. We use these computers for our mobile entertainment business. We've done 112 weddings so far this summer with another couple dozen to go before the end of October.  We're very, very busy---and these iMacs are incredibly convenient for holding our entire 'audio' library.  With over 20,000 sound EFX, drops, beds, bumpers---well over 55,000 actual songs (plenty of redundancy with extra mixes for specific tracks, etc)....the ability (when I purchased them) to have a TB installed vs the choices on the laptops...as well as the size (for reading), wireless mice and keyboard...they look very professional and work well with Serato and Traktor, our sources of choice.
However, playing background/cocktail/dinner music---nothing works better than iTunes. This issue has never been a problem before. Now it's nearly impossible to move a track within a playlist unless your playlist is only a 'window' long---depending on the resolution and size you've got your iTunes window, this can be anywhere from 30-50 songs (that are visible).  For now, as we've got plenty of playlists that are 100-300 songs in length. I'm now just moving a track 30 spots up, scrolling the playlist back up another 30/40 spots...moving the track to the top....scrolling up, moving track, yada yada. Or copy/paste has actually become my go to solution---for now. However, this, obviously...adds redundant tracks to the playlist (unless I delete tune after copying). It's truly a PITA...and it's bizarre I've not heard or read anyone else complaining of this issue.
I probably shouldn't have upgraded all my machines to ML right off the bat---but I had NO problems with Lion. Loved it! The gestures are awesome...the Track Pad has become my best friend---and I didn't read any compatiblity issues with any of the hardware we use.  Still---to this point, I've had no other 'challenges' with Mountain Lion on any of my machines.
I figure---since this behavior is evident on ALL my machines, which are relatively recent builds hardware-wise...ALL with plenty of RAM for these applications, it must be a system-wide behavior. I also kinda hoped it would be silently 'fixed' with today's maintenance update....Not a chance. Behavior is still exactly the same (after updating 3 of the iMacs and two of the MBPs)...so it hasn't been addressed. I've not yet filed a 'ticket' with Apple, haven't called the help desk---never have. In fact, I think this is the first challenge I've not been able to find myself a workaround for...so I've rarely a reason to visit a genius, call Apple, or utilize this board.
Is anyone else in front of an iTunes library with playlists that may have more than 60 or 70 tracks in it that would be willing to give it a go? Again...simply moving a track up in the playlist from the bottom to the top (the playlist MUST be longer than what is visible in the screen).
Second---I know this is getting WAY too long...but the BIG issue here is if you try to move a song that is currently playing 'up the playlist'...it actually freezes iTunes for several seconds---maybe even 8 or 10 seconds!!! It still continues to play the song, without any glitches....but it is absolutely impossible move a 'playing' track up or down the playlist without really F'ing up the computer for a brief period of time!!! This is a real pain and I'm not sure what the correct way to tell Apple about it would be. Do they monitor this board? Is there a specific place to address this on apple.com
Thanks everyone for reading this diatribe!! I know it got a bit long--Sorry!
    Jeremy

Is there anyone that can verify they're having this same issue? I called Apple to report the 'glitch' but I'm looking for any others with the same challenge and whether or not you've found a work around.
Again--I rely heavily on iTunes for business. We use it constantly for live performances...both on it's own and it's integration with Traktor, Serato and DJay
    Thanks Everyone!
    Jeremy
