Is there any way to delete videos from the iPad without having to connect to iTunes and do it there?

When you are in the video app, select the video you want to delete. On the next screen, slide your finger across the video title and the delete button will appear. Just press the button.

I have a new Ipad mini that I used to take video. It never connected to the wifi and the video was deleted by mistake. It wasn't save to ICloud and was not connected to save to ITunes. Unfortunately, when something is deleted it is gone forever, if you never made a backup.

Thanks for the reply. However, I do not want to delete a photo. I want to delete a video -- TV show, to be exact. They are not in my iTunes library. When I connect the iPad to my Mac, they show up in gray, not black in the list of items on my device, but seem to take up memory. I am not sure if they are actually "there". However, there are limits to the memory on my iPad until I delete them. How do I make sure they do not return?

I downloaded to my iPad 4 TV shows from a series I purchased on iTunes. I tried to delete them when I connected to my MacAir and synced.I tried doing this several times, but they still show up and I still do not have enough storage to download a 5th TV show. The TV shows and also music keep showing up again everytime I connect. Please help.

When you delete a video (other than rented movies) from iPad, it isn’t deleted from your iTunes library on your computer, and you can sync the video back to iPad later.
If you don’t want to sync the video back to iPad, set iTunes to not sync the video.

Important: If you delete a rented movie from iPad, it’s deleted permanently and can’t be transferred back to your computer.

You must enable iTunes Match on the new computer. Did you backup your device after you took the video but before you deleted it? If so, restore your device with that backup. If not, then there's no way to retrieve that video.

I have experienced great difficulty deleting photos from iPad I have followed advice and synced with computer and iTunes and deleted from computer and then synced again but managed to get hundreds more unwanted photos.

Photos that were synced from your computer you should be able to delete by movin/removing them from where they were synced from and then re-syncing (or de-selecting the whole folder if you want to remove the entire album from the iPad).
Photos taken with the iPad, copied onto it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc can be deleted directly on the iPad - either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it in thumbnail view. They should also appear in Windows Explorer on PC where you can delete them, and in iPhoto on a Mac you can delete them after importing.

Unable to delete videos from my iad

I am unable to delete videos from my ipad. When I go to Settings - Usage - Storage; the video section will show up as no data in it even if it has multiple videos downloaded from itunes in it. I am using iOS 7.0.4 on a new iPad mini Retina 64GB. I am seeing the same problem on my iPhone 5S.

I was puzzled by this since ios7 I waited for 7.1 and thought it was fixed as it seems to go away. Now its back in 8.0 and 8.0.2.
It seems somewhat related to incomplete accounting of downloaded video and music too on the device and applying to storage left on device as these two icons are not showing up under usage in settings, even with show all selected.
Here is what I did:
Go to "Videos" under settings, turn off "show all videos", this will show only videos that presumably are on your device.
Go to Videos" app and you should see video that is presumably downloaded to device, select the cloud icon and as unintuitive as it seems, download the video as if it is not already on the device.
When one or all of your videos finish, go to "Settings", "General", "Usage", you will see an increase in available storage.
While there, select "Manage Storage" and "Videos" should show up in usage and an amount of MB or GB.
Select "Videos" under storage and your videos will present. Select "Edit" in upper right corner.
Select red "minus symbol", delete.
As you do this you will see more and more of your devices storage coming back in available storage.
This is similar to or is a memory leak issue that needs to be addressed. It apparently hasn't yet.
The same process works with Music. I haven't seen this as an issue in dealing with apps.

Apple make fine products & I like the iPad. However, it is extremely annoying trying to navigate the complexities of iTunes and syncing to achieve various outcomes. There are REAMS of articles and 000's of discussions, chats, videos etc... from users who have become frustrated when trying to simply delete photos from their ipads !!! IT IS MAJORLY ANNOYING. Come on Apple make it simpler or publish easy to follow guides on your website.
Wrestling with Itunes is one of the reasons I ditched my ipod ~~~

Unable to delete photos from iPad with Image Capture or PhoneView

I recently downloaded about 50GB of photos to my iPad. They are RAW+JPG. Some of the RAWs are from a new camera that does not have RAW support on the Mac yet.
Using Image Capture I downloaded all the photos to my Mac. They all have the green check-mark next to them indicating they have been downloaded.
After confirming that the images transferred without becoming corrupted, I went back to Image Capture and selected all, then hit the Delete button. I confirmed that I really want to delete them all permanently.
Then a little floating window appears that says "Deleting..." and it stays like that for a long time. Eventually Image Capture simply loses its connection with the Mac and simply leaves this console message:
5/22/12 10:58:38.494 AM com.apple.launchd.peruser.503: ([0x0-0x91091].com.apple.PTPCamera[9744]) Exited with code: 255
Back on the iPad, I see that some of the JPEG-format photos have been deleted while the RAWs that went with them are still there. Meanwhile for many others, both the RAW & JPEG both still remain.
Any ideas what might cause this? Is it because the Mac doesn't yet have support for the RAW file and therefore doesn't recognize it as an "image" file?

How can I delete photos from iPad but not iCloud?

Before setting up iCloud, my girlfriend downloaded photos from her camera to her iPad. We now have iCloud set up, but the photos on her iPad remain in the "Photos" album instead of Photo Stream. I would like to delete the photos from the iPad to free up storage space, and move them to the Macbook. I'm guessing that I would need to somehow move them to Photo Stream then delete the old album where they were stored on the iPad... Any ideas?

Is there another way to delete photos from ipad 2, other than sync. i want to delete one or two photos every now and then.

when sync, you lose all photos.. and have to start over. i am using picasa to get my photos.. i noticed when you take a pic from the ipad 2, you can delete
any photo you want.. i would think that it should be the same no matter how you put photos on the ipad... has any one found a solution to this..

You only lose photos when you sync, if you don't have the photos you want to keep on your iPad checked in Photos in iTunes. And no, the only pictures you can delete directly from iPad are those you took with iPad. All other pictures are managed through iTunes.

To copy photos and videos to your computer that were taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites then see this page - on a PC you can use the windows camera wizard.
To copy photos and videos in the Photos app that were originally synced from a computer you will need a third-party app such as Simple Transfer which can copy them off via your wifi network. But as photos are 'optimised' when they are synced to the iPad, any that you then copy back to a computer may not be exactly the same as they originally were on your computer.
If you are going to restore to your last backup then you may also want to copy any purchases from the iPad to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases.
