Deletion/hiding of images

Hello.
I have Aperture 2.1.4 and am experiencing deletion/hiding of images.
Some images I just can´t find. They were there yesterday, but they´re gone today. They have NOT been deleted by me, and my bin (which hasn´t been emptied for a couple of weeks) shows no trace of them.
An other problem is hiding of images. A project was missing pictures I knew were supposed to be there. I went into All Photos and found the images, and found from their metadata that they in fact were in the projects they were supposed to be, but I still couldn´t see them. So I searched in the project using an images title - boom - all the missing images pop up... ????
Would be great to know what´s going on...

Select the project in question, Command-F or click the magnifying glass icon (next to the search field). Make sure there aren't any checked items. If so, you are filtering by the criteria checked. I used to inadvertently do this all the time when I first started using Aperture. Now, if an image appears to be missing, it's the first thing I check. It sure sounds like that's what is happening here.
Hope that helps.

  • My iPhone 5 claims to have 1.81GB(211 photos) of storage taken by "Photo Library". How do I locate and delete these ghost images to free up my storage space?

Hello. I've had my iPhone 5 for just over a year now. I just did a factory reset on it for the first time. When I look at storage usage in my iPhone settings, or when I connect my phone to iTunes, it claims that I have 211 Photos taking up 1.81GB of my storage. I'm very confused why because I've deleted every single image I can find. I deleted Twitter, Instagram, Vine, Facebook, etc., assuming that one of these apps was storing these images somewhere. After doing a full factory reset and iCloud backup(excluding photos), I still have the 1.81GB of photos that I just cannot find. I've already tried to delete them through iTunes, unfortunately to no avail. It specifically states there is 211 photos taking up the space. Can anybody help me find these ghost images before I lose my mind??

Copying files works OK, but not moving.  It seems like recently(iOS8?), when you try to delete photos from an iPhone that has been mounted you will get a 'permission denied' error. I haven't found a way around this.
I've resorted do manually deleting using one-by-one selections on the iPhone itself.  Dropbox carousel is great for this but I don't use Dropbox yet.  They other way is to do an iTunes sync and then delete the synced folder contents but that just feels 'weird'. Maybe there's a good App out there for photo management.

  • Delete an uploaded image

    Hi
Can anyone give me instructions for deleting an uploaded image without deleting the whole record? For example, I have a record with an uploaded image, the image name stored in the table and the image in a directory. I change my mind and want no image associated with the record. How do I delete the image associated with the record and make that image name field null?
    Thanks

OK, I have it working in a round about way. I'm sure with Gunters help I could get it going the 'proper way" but for now this solution seems to be working.
on my detail list I added a link "remove current file" which only shows on the conditional region "show if file exists" so if there is no file this link will not show.. so far so good.
I think pass the URL parameter to a page which I'm filter by URL ID parameted called "deletefile.php"
I then added an update record form and only included the field that is storing the filename. In the wizard I inserted the field as a hidden field. I added a second hidden field and called it "null" and left the value for it blank.
In the update record behaviour you can choose to get the values from any form element in the form area. So I chose to get the values from the hiidden object "null".
when you submit form it will then put the field for the file back to "null'
I'm sure i can get the form to delete the file as well. I'll work on that next.
This does seem a little dirty but seems to be working perfectly fine.
    Hope this helps anyone.

  • Use Referenced Masters To Avoid Accidentally Deleting A Master Image File

If you use Managed images it is possible to delete the master file accidentally.  If you delete versions of an image using File -> Delete Version and the version you are deleting is the last remaining version for that image, Aperture 3 will delete both the version and the master image.  If you subsequently empty Aperture Trash and then System Trash that master image file is gone forever.  In Aperture 3 there is no warning that you are about to delete a master image.
A workaround (although a weak workaround) is to use Referenced Image Masters.  Then when you delete the last version which includes the master image from Aperture, you can uncheck the box "Move referenced file to system trash." and no master image file will be deleted.  The downside to this workaround is that when you really want to delete a master image file, it must be done via Finder.
The best solution would be for Apple to fix this bug so that when you select "Delete Version" it only deletes the version image and reverts to the master image.  That way the master image can only be delete via the command "Delete Master Image and All Versions."

    There is no bug there.
I had some trouble wrapping my mind around the file-Master-Version-Image-(Preview) complex that flows, sand-like, through the entire working of Aperture.  (I like a thing to be represented by itself and itself alone, and to exist in one place and one place alone.  I was comfortable with the seeming precision of the location-based "file+path" metaphor for the existence of these virtual things.  Aperture quite cleverly moves beyond that.)  Two things helped me move forward:
    - understanding the difference between Projects and Albums, and
    - separating my Library into a storage area and an output area.
Projects are, for me, storage containers.  (I have said elsewhere that the mis-naming of "Projects" is the single worst interface decision made in Aperture.)  They have a privileged relationship with your Images:  every Image must "live" in a Project, and "lives" in only one Project.  It may help you to think of "Image+Project{Path}" as functionaly equivalent, within the Aperture Library, to the file directory "file+path" mentioned above.
Albums are, for me, output containers.  I create Albums every time I know I will output a set of Images.
In practice, I work on Images in each.  In general, I develop my digital captures in the Project that holds them (and I rigorously stick to "One Project = One shoot"), I create Versions and add them to Albums as needed for output (they are automatically made the Album Pick), and I tweak them for output and then output them from Albums.
You may be wondering (if you've read this far) -- "What has this got to do with deleting Masters?"  A lot.  Note the difference in the context-menu between a Version in a Project and a Version in an Album.  The menu for the Album contains two delete commands: "Delete Version", and "Remove from Album".  The Versions live in Projects, and only visit Albums.  As Terence correctly points out, if you delete the last Version, your expectation should be that you are deleting that Image from your Library.  My suggestion is that you adopt something similar to what I've set up, and delete Versions from ONLY Projects (never from Albums).  This way you will never unknowingly delete the last Version (because Images can be in only one Project, and if you delete the last Version from that Project you know you are expunging that Image from your Library).

  • Shortcut for "delete image" is now "delete thousands of images" -- Why?

So I've been using since v1 and since then [CMD] + [Delete] has been the shortcut to delete the selected image. Suddenly upon finally upgrading from v2 to v3 I hit [CMD] + [Delete] as I've done many, many times before only to have it, without prompt, delete my ENTIRE PROJECT. It's a large project... several thousand images... all seemingly wiped out.
This leaves me with a number of questions. The least of which... WHY?! Why change something so basic and of little consequence into something with potentially catastrophic results? My next question, are my files really gone? They don't seem to have been moved to the trash and I can't seem to locate them by browsing through the library.
Any thoughts or suggestions? "Vault" excluded, please.

Hmm… I just tested this (on a test project obviously!!) and CMD-Delete has the following behavour:
    • If a picture is highlighted the picture moves to the trash.
    • if a project is highlighted the project moves to the trash.
In both cases I can hit Undo and revert without a hitch. i can also go to the Trash and bring back the items (picture OR project).
So on my end nothing has changed from prior versions except for the - welcome - addition of the Trash which provides an extra layer of security. Something's not right…
Try relaunching Aperture while holding the command-option keys and repairing the database.

  • Iphoto deleted all my images, im running on 9.5.1

iphoto deleted all my images, im running on 9.5.1. its been having issues recently but this time my laptops battery died in the middle of iphotos fixing itself and when my computer restarted everything is gone. Please help?

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • How do I delete a Poster image?

    Hi all,
I created a simple animation to be used with InDesign DPS. I added a poster image, but when viewing the animation in Adobe Content Viewer the poster image covers the animation unless I click on it, at which point it reveals the animation already "in progress".
Is there a way to delete the poster image once it has been set?
    Technical:
    Edge Animate v1.5
    Mac OS 10.8
    Adobe Content Viewer v25
    InDesign CS6, 8.0.1

The only way to delete a poster image once it has been created is to go into your project folder and physically delete it outside of Edge Animate.
Another thing to do is to open the actual poster png delete the content to leave it a blank transparent png. I often find I dont want the poster image visible first espaecially if you have a self playing animation.
    cheers

  • Delete multiple master images: hangs

When I choose multiple images for delete I get the infinite spinning beach ball. I searched for similar posts and did not find anyone with the same problem.
Deleting one image at a time works ok.
I have to force quit and restart. When the project is opened again I see that the images were in fact deleted. This is very repeatable.
This is a reasonably serious bug for me since doing the pruning of images outside of aperture will require a raw-enabled viewer.
It would also be nice to have a hot-key for deleting a master image, and a way to get rid of the "do you really want to do this" dialog.
    nmurray

    Hi nmurray,
a number of posts here which concern hangs, spinning beachballs, performance and the like point to a single conclusion:
    Rebuild your library.
In order to do that, quit Aperture, and restart it while pressing the Alt key. (You can let go of the Alt key after the startup screen has appeared.) After having started, Aperture will then ask you whether you really want to rebuild the library as that may take some time (and if you have a large library, you might want to do this before preparing and having dinner with friends. Spend a nice evening while Aperture is keeping your Mac busy. Have some wine. Maybe a walk).
The hot key combination is Command-Backspace. The confirmation dialog is there for a reason - after all, you're telling Aperture to delete a master. However, to dismiss it, just hit the Return key on your keyboard.
The best way to get rid of several masters is to select them, press Command-Backspace, hit Return, and then sit back and wait while Aperture is throwing your masters into the trash. Don't ask me why a simple delete takes so long; I have the impression that the way Aperture works with its libary has significant room for improvement.
    Cheers,
    Karl

  • Can't delete photos using Image Capture

I just upgraded from an iPhone4 to 5s....all of a sudden I can't delete photos using Image Capture like I used to.  The "delete" menu item is grayed out.  The "delete after import" checkbox in the lower right is available, but I don't need to download all of these photos videos.  I poked around in the iPhone settings but didn't see anything which seems to control this.

Hey guys, I had the same problem on iOS 8.0.2, I couldn't delete any pictures from my Mac neither in Image Capture nor in iPhoto. I've just figured out how to resolve this. You have to disable iCloud Photo Library (Beta) under Settings > Photos & Camera. Since it seems to be an iOS 8 related issue, I'm not sure if I am referring to the same problem as in the original post but I thought I'll let you know anyway.

    Hello WGT52,
It sounds like this error message is preventing you from syncing your content to the iPod. I would recommend the troubleshooting steps in the following article:

  • Deleting all imported images on Ipad

I just purchased the iPad card reader, and it does great job of importing all my nikon NEF files and showing them. Only one small problem, the only way I seem to be able to delete them is one at a time. How do you batch delete the imported images.
I am using the iPad to show customers results of a shoot right on the spot. So once i have moved them to my iMac don't need them on iPad. iTunes does not remove them either.
I have tried via iPhoto and Aperture three, they do a great job of importing the images, but no option to delete once imported.
    What am I missing.

This is for Windows, but should work with Finder on a mac:
Plug the ipad into the computer. Open 'My Computer'. You'll see the ipad's camera roll (Saved Photos). double-click to open. All photo thumbnails or file names will be listed. Click on one, then do a cntrl-A to select all (or mac equiv).
Then press delete. "Are you sure"? Yes !!
    All photos will be deleted.
If you don't want to delete all, just drag-to-highlight the ones you want to delete.
