Deletion of DCs

Hi,
I have followed all of the instructions in the document "How To ... Manage DC Operations with the DC Command Line Tool".
Everything seemed to work fine and I also logged on to SLA to Remove Name Reservation so I can re-use the DCs names.
The only artifact I see are folder names in the DTR in the dev and cons workspaces under the DCs folder name (in both active and inactive workspaces).. I see the whole folder structures of the original DCs.  I would have expected these to be cleaned up.
Any ideas? I cannot find any reference in SAP docs about this as it relates to the usage of the dctool.

Hi,
for future search:
the DC deletion works always however it is indeed a complex scenario, but the solution you are looking for is rather this:

I'd like some help, I'm trying to delete some test components (DCs) which is activated. Iu2019m want delete because the deploy processes, (after Assembly phase in CMS) always try deploying it.
I've already deleted the inactive DCs by dctool in the DEV and CONS DTR repositories. However they exist in the active repositories. How can I delete it?
in the threadID=426111 I find a tip that solve my problem.

    Hi Neel,
Thanks for the suggestion it seems logical and im ready to go ahead with this approach. But before that i need few clarification.
    1)  Do i need to delete the already activatied Transfer Rules with BW as source system, if yes, do i also need to delete the DataSource for BW Client.
    2)  If not, will the sysetm automatically take care of it or Transfer Rules will exist for both BW and CRM client.
    3)  when i go to Business Content -> select source system as CRM, and then Transfer Rules -> select, it shows all the Transfer Rules as associated with CRM Client. Is this ok... and what should be the mode of collection (only necessary, before, after or before and after).

  • Is it possible and How to delete local DCs?

    Hello All,
I use NWDS to devlelop some java applications, but I found every time when I opened the Developer Studio, there are nothing in Inactive DCs unless I import development configurations from the CMS server, once I did it, there will be a new Local DC created in the Local DCs view, for example:
    DEMO_dev[0]
    DEMO_dev[1]
    DEMO_dev[2]
    DEMO_dev[3]
    DEMO_dev[4]
I want to know whether it is normal situation that everytime when DS is opened, there will be a new local one created?
And also I want to know whether it is ok to delete the old ones, for example in this case:
    DEMO_dev[0]
    DEMO_dev[1]
    DEMO_dev[2]
    DEMO_dev[3]
    be deleted?
I have tried to delete one, but IDE pop up error message:"Action failed--Server access failed, because configuration is in offline mode". But I can assure you that I am online because I just import the development configurations.
Could anyone tell me the reason for it?
Thank  you very much in advance.
    Best regards,
    Nick

    Hi Alain,
    Thank you for your reply.
I have tried your way but it does not work:(
When I open the developer studio, in the Inactive DCs view, there displays 'Offline', in the 'Local DCs' view, there are many DCs as I describe in the above message, once I right click the 'offline' and login to the CMS, there will be TOTALLY nothing in the inactive DCs view, I don't know why... and in the DTR console view, there displays 'No development configuration imported'.
If I choose to import the development configuration, there will be one more DC added to the Local DCs view...
could you give some more suggestions?
    Thank you very much.
    Best regards,
    Nick

  • How can I delete an old Development Component (DC)

    Hello,
We've a sca-package with Java-WebDynpro Code and try to deploy it, but unfortunately the deployment doesn't work.
Therefore we analysed the package and remarked, that two sda-components exist.
An DevelopmentComponent with our current sources and an older DC, but nobody knows wherefrom the older DC comes.
We wanted to delete this od component, but we can't delete it in any way.
    A) We tried to open the DTR as WebDav and try to delete the folder, but only the error message "Unable to delete ..." appears.
It's only possible to delete the "ative"/"inactive"-folder, not the folder of the subtree.
    B) If we import the configuration of the track in our NWDS, and create a DC of it, the component isn't shown, so we also can't delete it in our NWDS.
    C) I didn't find a flag to delete it in the NWDI in the CBS, CMS or DTR-websiteu2026
    D) Following the link /people/daniel.wirbser/blog/2005/07/27/how-to-delete-development-components-in-netweaver-java-development-infrastructure-jdi it's not possible to do Step 2, because the action for the folder is disabled.
This Dev component exists in each folder: dev/inactiv, cons/inactiv, dev/active und cons/active-Folder.
(You can see it in the NWDS in Perspective "Development Configuration", but it also isn't possible to delete)
I would be glad, if you have some more suggestions.
    Kind regards,
    Bettina

Try below steps to remove the DC from DTR...This will asnswer your A point.
1.Open the NWDs and go to DTR prespective.
2.Select the DC that you want to delete->inactive->dcs->.dcref
3.Delete .dcdef and then delete Sc folders
4.Expland all the folders select the files and right click+delete.
5.It will ask you to checkout the files before deleting.
6.After click on delete check in the activity.
7.Finally go to DTR workspace(http://,hostname>:port/dtr and delete the entire folder strucutre.
8.Go to NWDS ->DTR prespective,Delete all individual files uder src folder by making an activity.
9.After check in all the files will be deleted
10.Go to DTR workspace remove the DC folder.
    Delete DTR workspace folder:SapNote:855537
After removing the Dc from DTR workspace, delete the deployable object from SDM also.
We wanted to delete this od component, but we can't delete it in any way.
    For B point:
Go to NWDS ->WD prespective-.rightclick on the project+delete include all.It will remove the sc from your local workspace.
    For C point:
Deleting the DC from DTR will delete the content from DTR workspace.Nothing to do with CBS and CMS.
    For D option:
Follw the steps from 1 to 10 which i have given for point A.

  • Activation and release of DC Deletion causing DTR Conflicts

    Hello Everyone,
I will be thankful if anyone can help.
We recently released a bunch of activities (for the first time in this track) and imported into CONS. Most of the activites were normal development work but a few activities were Deletion of DCs which got relased along with the rest. Import into CONS went through but with Integration Conflicts indications in the log. Assembly is failing because of the same (Integration Conflicts involving the deleted DC).
What would be the best way to resolve this? Conflits are in dev/active, cons/inactive and cons/active branches. Closed activity view is showing entries under dev/active branch as 'Closed Activity, intergated from another workspace'.
In the Integration Conflict view, the Resolve Conflict menu option has 'Merge', 'Accept Active' and 'Accept Colliding' options. Not sure which to select since conflicts are because of a deleted DC and does not exist anywhere in DTR.
    Thanks very much.

    I see...
No, I don't think so. It was all straightforward use of NWDI in the preliminary stage of track usage. The only thing that I can tell is that the deletion of the DC was done in two different activities. The deletion of the _comp folder (hierarchical deletion activity) was done first and the deletion of .dcdef from the SCs folder was done in another activity and activated at different times in respective order. They were released at the same time though.
Right now, the activity is not showing up in the transport view. It is showing up under the Closed Activity view only. The Intgration Conflict view is now showing conflicts in cons/active and cons/inactive branch only. Entries for dev/inactive are gone.
One more thing... the conflicts were resolved from the DTR perpective using another client (not the client that gets created with the import of the Development Configuration (sorry, don't know its techincal term). The context menu options for resoliving in this client were greyed out. I am not an expert user of NWDI so I am not quite clear on the difference between the two types of dtr clients.)
I had also tried using the dtrshell tool but got the error: "FAILED:Discard is not allowed becasue the workspace is not modifiable" - I suppose because I was trying to resolve it in the dev/active branch - which can't be done when using the dtr client
that gets created by importing the Development Configuration?? I don't know. I am not clear on how things work here..
    Any ideas?
    Thanks for you input.

  • Problem in activating DCs in NWDI

    Hello
I have a problem while activating the DC's in DTR.
I activated the DC's with forced activation. DC's were activated but for some of the DC's the source code was not migrated from the inactive state to the active state.
In the repository browser view DC's can be seen in both the inactive and active views. But I cant activate them again since the activity for the DC activation is not available in Activation view.
Can anyone suggest me what should I do?
Is there any way I can revert the active DCs back to inactive and then activate again?
Should I delete the DCs and recreate them?
Or is there some other way to solve this problem?
Can anyone please help me out.
    Any help is highly appreciated.
    Regards
    Pankaj

    Hi Sridhar
Thanks for the reply. I was able to run the application on my system before activating it. It had build errors while activating.
My prob is that I have done the forceful activation and all the DCs have been moved to the active state. For some of the DCs the source code is missing.
For eg in Web Dynpro DC , Application and Components and Windows were not migrated. How do i move them now to the active state?
Is there any way i can revert the activated DCs?
    Regards

  • AD Sites Question

    Hello
We have 13 sites for a single domain implementation and we are planning to reduce them
    I have found that Site 3 and Site 4 can be merged into 1 ( site 3 into site 4, so no site3 ) = I have validated bandwidth b/w 2 sites and its excellent ( 10MB).
Site links exist between site 3, Site 4 and Site 5
    Site link x = site 3, site 4
    Site link y = site 4, site 5
end goal is to remove site link x and have site link y
Site 3 has 3 subnets and 2 Domain controllers for clients to authenticate , when consolidating / merging below are the possible options
    1) move 3 subnets to Site 4  : AFAIK , this would not impact existing client authentication / applications dependent on AD because once the subnets are moved, KCC will re-generate intra-site topology and intersite topology ( recalculate process
) and may assign or use existing ISTG
    2) change Member servers ip address and DC ip address of site 3 to site 4 : once we change the IP address of DC to Site4 subnet, recalculate will re-create the topology - same as point 1 , no changes to replication / client affinity
calculate the site link cost and assign
    3) Delete Domain controllers in site 3 and point clients to site 4: this would not have any replication impact but client authentication should be validated against the bandwidth
please advise if my understanding is correct

    http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/224815?wa=wsignin1.0

    Hi,
    3) is bad as if you want to "delete" the DCs you have to demote them first le replication complete, then remove the object from AD sites & services.
If you consolidate sites you move the 3 subnets and the DCs (DC IPs belong to the subnets you moved) to the destination site (4), then once replicated you can delete the site 3, KCC will build automatically ntds connections with any replication partners
    in site 5.
    Maybe others have better suggestions.
    Hope it helps.

    Calin

  • 2008r2 dc - NRFRS or DFSR

    Hello,
We have a windows 2008r2 domain controllers. I wanted to find out if we are using NRFRS or DFSR.
    1) How can I check this?
    2) How do I migrate to DFSR
    Thanks.

    Hi Birenc,
You  need to do a metadata cleanup to remove all the old references from active directory.
Make sure that you seize the FSMO roles (if any) to your primary DC. And also Do check DNS zones and DNS zone proerties, Name server tab and AD sites and services.

In the exception it said that ApplConfig.xml file cannot be found. But when I control my collegues they also don't have the following file.
I did built, clear cache, Deleted local DCs and took the DCs again and did the XCM configuration. But the problem cannot be solved.
Is anyone have opinion about it?
    Thank you very much
    Perihan

    Perihan,
I think the exception you included in the post is not relevant to your problem. Usually, problems in ISA at checkout are due to an incorrect installation. Can you please check the following:
    - that you have installed via NWDI or SDM the CRMDIC SCA. This SCA contains the table definitions required to save shopping baskets and templates
    - if for any reason you cannot install the CRMDIC SCA, you can disable the persistence of shopping baskets and templates by changing, in XCM, basket component, the parameter usedatabaseBasket and usedatabaseTemplate to false (they are true by default). This is a workaround, and of course you will not be able to persist shopping baskets/templates until you install the CRMDIC SCA.
    Cheers
    G

  • Removing Project From SCA Created from JDI for WebDynpro Project

    Hi All,
I Have created SCA from JDI by Transporting all the activities to assembly, and the SCA has been created.
On the Track there are two DCs, which are not be required to be added into the SCA file, But activites for those DCs have already been transported and moved to assembly accidently, and SCA also has been created including those DCs.
There is no dependency for those DC on to any other Project/DCs on the same Track.
But We dont want to include those DC into my SCA.
Is there any way by which we can Remove them from either assembly or from my SCA.
We have also Deleted DCs from the Track, but still while Creating new SCA those DCs are also included in the same.
Please Reply, If you have any suggestion how do we remove them from SCA.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Shruti

    Hi All,
    Our Problem has been solved.
We have deleted those DCs and then chkd in those activity, then assembled the SCA including those activities too.
So now New SCA does not contain those two DCs.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Shruti

  • Deletion of 'Orphaned' DCs

    Hi,
We are having a problem deleting one of our DCs from DTR. Some of the files of this DC are being shown as checked out by one of our developers. We checked his workspace, but couldn't find any checked out files for this DC. To be more certain, we again tried checking-in the src folder itself. But even after this, the files are still being shown as checked out by him. Could anyone please help me in deleting this DC ?
    Thanking you in advance.
    Warm Regards,
    Nibu Wilson.

    Hi Pascal,
I am sorry I tried using the CBS webUI for locating the activity earlier. Now I tried using the DTR WebUI, I was able to locate & revert the activity.
Many a thanks to you !!!
For the benefit of others like me, let me put down the exact path of this page :
<---your-dtr/dtr/system-tools/reports/ActivitySearch ->  Fill in UserName, select "Opened only" -> Click on the required activitiy -> In the upper right drop-down-box "Quick Links" select "Revert this activity" ->

Do you really mean "Delete DC" or do you mean "Remove from client"?
A Remove from client just removes the DC from your local system, while a Delete DC removes the DC from the DTR!
In case you really want to delete the DC from the DTR, try just syncing the sources <b>without</b> performing a build.

I am getting above error while deleting a file which is in a folder which inturn in workspace

Here is the problem I have with deleting my folder. I had created a WD project TaxTool and and added the DC to my SC. There were obviously some checkedout activities. Being new to this, I deleted the project directly without checking in the activities. Now I have folder TaxTool/_comp with nothing underneath on the DTR server and on my client. I am unable to checkout TaxTool for delete but the checkout of _comp folder fails in NWDS with the following error:
<b>EDIT  (FAILED: server response: Conflict [(pre||post)-condition failed: x:no-exclusivity-with-existing-checked-out-resources])  comp   (C:\JDI\JDIDEMO1\intelJDI_TEST\dev\inactive\DCs\intel.com\TaxTool\_comp\)</b>
If I try the same from the DTR shell, I get this following error:
<b>Unexpected problem occurred during executing command.Lockfile "C:\Documents and
Settings\bvedamur\.dtr\.syncdbs\5b0d8b2110a7a29883734c0407462df8.syncdbM.lock" is already in use by another process.</b>
I am the only user in the system (doing R&D) and I have tried Sync and Delete. Nothing works. Help appreciated.

  • Delete DC from the track

    Hi Experts,
I have created a DC in a Track.
Now i want to delete it from the track.
i referred to SAP note :864515.
However applying SAP note for my DCs it throws the error as "Folder or subtree contains local only files or folders"
whereas i can still see the DC deployed on the server.
Can you guys help me find the solution to this?
    Regards,
    Ashish Shah

    Hi Ashish,
    Try this.
1)If Remove from Client does not work, then manually delete the dc folders from the file system.
2)Check in DTR perspective under this DC that all files exist only remotely (i.e no file under that DC tree in DTR should have a home icon)
3)In Dev Config perspective, rt-click on this DC and "Create Project" .. the whole point is you should get a "mount" for the resources to be deleted from the DTR.
4)Close the project and delete the project (select the radiobutton delete the contents from the folder too)
5)Goto DTR persp, rt-click on _comp folder and Delete subtree
    6)Delete and check-in
    Lemme know how it goes.
    Thanks,
    Rajit
