Deletion of equipment

1.how can one equipment be deleted?
2. Can equipment category be changed after creation of equipment?

You can set the deletion flag at the change equipment screen (IE02) through the following path:
Equipment ==> Functions ==> Deletion flag ==> Set.
And for the equipment category, You can change the description, and the reference category...but you can't change the Key that identify it, i.e: "M".

I tried doing the same in IDES, but unfortunately the archive file is not getting generated when i write it. I have clearly specified in the variant to create an archive file. Can you please explain how does the system generate an archive file. And also in the customizing " Archiving Object-Specific Customizing " techincal settings, i have maintained the production variant and have marked start automatically.

Equipment master ie03 partner getting deleted while doing material return

We are facing some problem in serial no
1.We are creating equipment master in IE08 and assigning same equipment no as serial no in ie02
Update partner functions in IE02
2.Then we are creating a repair type sales order
3.Do goods receipt using VRRE by assinging serial no
4.While doing goods receipts(653 movement type) in transaction VRRE,the parter function gets deleted in equipment master IE03 for that serial number
5.But at the same time when iam doing post goods issue for the same material after repair and same serial no using vl02n,601 movement type,Partner gets updated.
Is this the normal SAP behaviour.While doing goods return from customer will the partner function get deleted in equipment master and while doing vl02n,goods issue 601 will it update again

Deleting Equipment from SAP R/3

Once I set the cancel flag for an equipment how I can delete completely from SAP R/3 the equipment?

Yes you can delete the equipment from the database through archiving process.
SAP says that if you want to archive and delete the equipments then you have to first archive and delete following documents
such as 1. Maintenance Plans 2. Serial Number History 3. Service and Maintenance Orders, 4. Routings, 5. Maintenance Notifications, 6. Quality Notification, and 7. Service Notifications.
Archiving Equipments can be done by using archiving object PM_EQUI.
Check Archiving Object Technical settings ....See that deletion is automatic.
Steps are:
Easy access --> SARA ---> Write ---> create write variant and select all the eqipments that you want to delete ---> click Attributes --> Enter the text in Meaning field ---> SAVE.
2. Maintain Spool parameter
3. Maintain Start date
4. Execute and check the session number in job log.
With this you archiving and deletion will be done in one step.

Delete equipment from stock

Hi All,
How can we delete an equipment from the stock?
I have a requirement where in ,if the equipment is tested to be faulty, it has to be scrapped and deleted from the stock.
How can I delete the equipment frm the stock..?
Is MIGO T code to be used, if so , how.. Please give me the functional flow of it as well as steps how to implement it technically.

I'm not sure your explanation is correct.
I mean test equipment is used in QM and I think it is not the test equipment that should be deleted from stock if there's a test failure...

(Test eqipment management is to manage these equipments in SAP (maintenance, calibration, etc))
I mean you use the test equipment to test goods (e.g. goods that are produced) and if the goods doesn't pass the quality test (that is carried out by the test equipment physically) they have to be scrapped.
In this case I think no development (I think of the BAPI) is necessary because goods in QM are scraaped via the usage decision (QA32).
Please examine how usage decision is carried out.

However, if your requirement is to scrap the test equipment if the test fails it really needs development because this requirement is very strange I think. I do not know test equipments, maybe someone can help you in this case.

In IH08, deleted & active equip. list display, but i want to see active equipment list & deleted equipment list separatly (Deleted equipment should not display in that list)

WCM Not able to copy equipment

Hi , I'm using enhanced model of WCM.I've created order for a "Equipment 1" which is installed under "function location 1".From maintenance order i am activating WCM.In Work approval I am able to copy only "Function location 1 " despite have tick indicator to copy "Ref object incl installed equipment" & equipment field in it is grayed out preventing further entry. why it is not copying.
Even manually if I go to work approval create transaction enter this "Equipment 1" , "Function location 1" field will not get updated & will get grayed out so that nothing can be entered.
Any additions is to be done to behave similar way as in maintenance order(if equipment is entered function location will get updated).

Dear Srinivas,
By default the system copies the Functional location as reference object.And if the order is against an equipment it will be recorded in the object list of WAP.
If you want to change the reference object to equipment mannually ,please do the following
Click on the Create /change object list icon ( right to the functional location) in the work approval
remove/delete the equipment from object list
Remove the functional location from the reference object field. Now reference object - equipment field will be open for editing and you can enter the equipment there.
Note: if you want to add the functional location in the object list again you can go to object list and add Functional location there.

FM/BAPI for deleting Equipmet User status

Hi Guys
I am looking for a way to delete the equipment user status (the second box in IE02). I used a BDC for setting it and it works fine but I want to delete it now and I have no clue how.
I checked all the FM's related to STATUS and I found that internal status is the system status and the ext. status is the user status.
Anyone has experience in Equipment Sales?
Would appreciate your help.

Hello,
The rules, defining user statuses of an equipment, are defined by PM functional consultant (customizing SPRO).
As i know, it is not possible to delete equipment external status.
Using IE02, you can change equipment user status as defined by functional consultant.
In your other thread "How to delete equipment user status?", Pete Atkin has given a lot of interesting informations (for example, to change user status equipment use FM STATUS_CHANGE_EXTERN).

once you have created the equipments it is impossible to change the name,also for deleting the equipment ,first you have to delete all the dependencies first,ie maintenace order,tasklist,notification etc

Change of Device Category of a Device

Hi
Can anyone help me about the convenient process so that device category of device can be changed.
Actually, my requirement is as follows:
1. User creates a device E1 (External number range) under device category D1. Equipment and serial number are synchronous so equipment E1 is created automatically.
2. Afterwards user found that device E1 is wrongly created under device category D1, it should be created under device category D2.
So, what is the convenient process to do that. Shall I delete the equipment E1 through standard process then again create E! under device category D2 or any other way.
I am not also sure how to delete the equipment E1 so that I can use the same number again.
If there is any other convenient way, please share, else E1 number will be lost for ever if user mistakes at the time of creation.

hi,
as you would know that each combination of material and serial number is unigue in the system.
so if you create a device 'e1' in category 'd1' then you can also again create 'e1' in category 'd2'.
to your second question about deleting the device i guess you can try it from the database.i.e deleting the entry but this may lead to inconsistent data.
other way can be to either chnage the device category or the serial number.
For this go to trans. IQ02(change mode) ,goto tab 'edit>special serial number functions>change material number/change serial number'.
using this you can change device 'e1' from category 'd1' to category 'd2'.
note: after this 'e1' from category 'd1' is deleted..
i tried this before doing the installation ,so I have no idea whether it would work after installation of the device ,just try it out

5 computer license, 2 computers activated, cannot add reconfigured laptop

Had 3 computers authenticated, laptop crashed, reconfigured and now cannot sign up the reconfigured laptop. How can i remove the former laptop ID so I can re-auth the newly reconfigured system?

When I login to my equipment it ask for a certificate. How do I delete these certificates?

We just recently upgraded our equipment and now I don't get the whole screen parts are missing. So I figured if I delete certificates or renew them it might work. So I need to know How to delete them or renew them.

Equipment configuration data can't be deleted?

Hello fellow EAM friends,
I have putted in the equipment tabpage a configurable material. However this was not correct. Now I want to delete it. Unfortenately it is greyed out, so I can not delete it.
What would be the process to get the configurable material number be deleted from the view. I already checked the customzing of the fields.

Hello Pete,
I have done some testing. I created a simple material which is configurable. No object dependencies are vailable.
The moment I add that material in the config view of the equipment and save the equipment, I can still delete the material which is mentioned in the equipment.
However, the moment I choose a characteristic value, the field turns grey, and cannot be deleted. Even if delete the assigned value in the configuration, the fields stays grey.
It seems the moment the field EQUI-CUOBJ has a value, you cannot delete the material entered.
I supose it is standard SAP. I wiill look in notes if I can find something.

Flagging Equipment for Deletion

Can anyone tell me which table is updated when setting the 'Flagged for Deletion' indicator on an Equipment Master record (IE02). Thanks in advance.

Hi Randy,
I dont have a SAP system and also dont know the table off hand. But something that will also help you in the future.
Do this, set up a SQL trace using transaction ST05.
Activate the trace with filter - using transaction as IE02 and yor user ID (to limit the number of results returned)
Then in a parallel session, run IE02 and mark the equipment record for deletion.
Immediately after, come back to ST05 and switch off the trace (Deactivate).
Finally, List the trace. It will show you all DB tables either read or updated during the course of IE02 transaction.
And on analyzing the same, you would get what you are looking for.
Note: For best performance, to clear buffer of previous DB access, please close all sessions, log back in and then run the above procedure.
