Deletion of InfoObject

Hi,
I need to delete infoobject.
Error msg: /BI0/OCFM_FAC_NO(Revised and Active Versions) was not deleted(check references).
this object is not used any where.

Hi,
The infoobject you want to delete is used as referece infoobject in another infoobject that is not deleted yet. Find out from where-used list and delete all references and then try deleting this infoobject. Unless all refernces are deleted your infoobject will not be deleted.
Go to the tables /BIC/Omyiobj and /BIC/OImyiobj and check there, ur InfoObject will be available.

When I check in Where used list , I dont see anything except Characteristic catalog.
I have already deleted it from all the references.

( when i was trying to delete dimensions it is saying that the dimension contains infoobjects , u can not delete the dimension, what 2 do?)

Ravi,
If you want to remove the Infoobject from Dimension then you need to delete the data from the cube and then remove the infoobject from that particular Dimension. I mean delete the assignment for that Infoobject.

Automate Deletion of Infoobject Data in Process Chain

Dear BW Experts,
We refresh our QBI (Testing system) system every 4 months. Hence we have to drop all the data and refresh it again.
I have built a process chain to automate deletion of cubes and DSOs. I am unable to include deletion of Infoobjects (Infosources) in the process chain.
Could you please suggest as to how to do this via process chain (and not manually) since we have more than 20 Infoobjects where data has to be deleted.

From help ..Press F1 on that paramter to understand
Reference characteristic
The reference characteristic has the technical properties of a characteristic such as data type and length, as well as the master data (attributes, texts and hierarchies). The characteristic itself also has buinesses semantics. Several characteristics can refer to the same reference characteristic. Such characteristics automatically have the same technical properties and master data.
Example:
The characteristics sender cost center and receiver cost center use the reference characteristic cost center and with it the same values and the same texts.

Cannot move/delete locked infoobjects

Hi,
In one of my ODS object, I want to move some info objects from Data Fileds to Key fields. When I am trying to do this, getting an error "cannot move/delete locked infoobjects".
I have deleted all the data from the ODS and then tried. Even though it is giving the same error.

Pl try the following:
1. Delete the data in the ODS and try to change the ODS.
2.Delete the data in the master data table of the object that you wish to shullfe anf try to change the ODS>
3. If you have loaded another ODS or cube from this ODS, delete data from there as well and then try the change.
4. FInally, check if you see any entries in St12 and unlock them.

How to delete multiple InfoObjects in one shot?

Hello Experts,
Is there any way to delete a bunch of InfoObjects / ODSs in one shot?
Scenarios:
1. We have thousands of custom IO which are no use any more and we want to get rid of these IO to save space. How to do it?
2. We have thousands of custom ODS too which need to be deleted. We want to delete ODS which are not used any more and also the InfoObjects in ODSs which are not used by any other ODS or any other places. How do I do that in one shot?
BTW way our BW is 3.1 version but will be upgrading soon.

Hi,
goto RSD1 and mark the option "Free Selection of IObjs"
Hit the Maintain button In the next screen Select your IObjs to be maintained (at this stage the system will lock the selected IObj !!)
In the next screen mark the IObjs you want to delete
Then Menu Characteristics / Delete (shift + F2)
this should work.
Alternatively, try developping an ABAP based on function module RSDG_IOBJ_MULTI_DELETE.

Problem deleting unused InfoObject

We have encountered a problem deleting an unused InfoObject getting the following messages :-
Data element /BIC/OIPTBTAUDIT still used in table/view STRU_453SRKYRVVCCB1I7ZI5ZXNXRO
Data element /BIC/OIPTBTAUDIT still used in table/view STRU_453TM6SZNZKT8RYRKNBZ0H3G4
Data element /BIC/OIPTBTAUDIT still used in table/view STRU_453TMH1OY4IU2TWBCQGCF3DTG
Data element /BIC/OIPTBTAUDIT still used in table/view STRU_453TNP7PZ3CK6FQ8WLWY8E01G
Now these structures look like transfer structures but we have removed the object from all such structures and have ran where used in RSD1 and this object is not used anywhere !
Please help as this object needs removing and recreating with the same technical name.

Go to the info object in RSA1 in change mode and click edit - where used.
You will get a list of other objects where this object is used.
Delete the data in the cube. Delete the object from the cube and dimension of the cube. If you have more than one cube and ODS that uses this object, pl do the same for cube and ODS.
Remove the object from the comm structure and other data marts.
Delete the data in the info object.
Delete the from the info object.
Now, again go to the info object and see the where used list.
The list should be list.
Now, you are all set to delete the object.
Finally create another one with the same name .

Deleting & Recreating Infoobject

I have an Infoobject ZEMPID. It is being used in a DSO & a Cube. I want to change this infoobject to be a reference char. of 0PERSON.
I understand, I have to follow th following steps:
1. delete ZEMPID from DSO & Cube
2. delete ZEMPID
3. recreate ZEMPID and make it a reference char of 0Person. Correct?
ZEMPID does not exist in Qual or production. So when i try to delete it, it prompts for a transport request- TR. If I make it part of a TR, the transport will fail because, Quality does not have ZEMPID. Hence there will be nothing to delete and transport will fail.
So, I was wondering if I can take the following steps to ensure that the transport does not fail:
1. Delete ZEMPID & make it part of a TR
2. Delete ZEMPID from TR
3. Recreate ZEMPID and make it part of a TR.

Hi JD,
The point to be noted here is if you have already created the object & collected in TR, it will not prompt you the TR again when you make changes like deleting/changing length etc. By default, the changes that you make will be collected in the same TR in which you had saved at the first point.
So when you delete the object, it will not prompt you for the TR but the deleted version will be collected in that TR.
So after deleting it, goto your TR> Delete the obejct from the TR. Right click on the IO>Delete> It will prompt you like object is locked> click on continue.
Then when you create the new object again, now it will prompt for the TR--> you can save whereever you need it.

Unable to Delete the InfoObjects from Communication Structure..

Hi all,
I want to delete the extra InfoObjects from the Communication Structure for 0VENDOR. I am in InfoSources section of RSA1 and double clicked on 0VENDOR InfoSource and 'InfoSource 0VENDOR Change' screen is displayed, but 'Insert New Row' (button with + sign) and 'Delete Selected Rows' (button with - sign) are in GRAY. Since it is in GRAY, we can not make any modifications to it. The Source System is R/3 Dev.
When I expand 'Transfer_Structure/Transfer_Rules' below the Communication Structure the Source System points to PC file. Next, I have changed the Source System to R/3 Dev and DataSource to 0VENDOR_ATTR and still unable to make modifications to Communication Structure.
What is wrong with it? How can I make deletions, PLEASE?

I am in BW Dev box and checked other InfoSources with R/3 Dev as SourceSystem and buttons are in GRAY only.
There is 0VENDOR_ATTR InfoSource with different SourceSystem assignment (R/3 QA Box) and the buttons are not in GRAY. It means I could make modifications to this Communication Structure.
Why I am not able to make modifications to 0VENDOR Comm. Structure, PLEASE?
Note: I have started installing the Business Content for Project Systems 0PROJECT_ATTR and stopped that transaction in the middle of the process on Friday. Is it caused some damage?

Master Data Deletion from InfoObject

Hi there
I need to delete all masterdata in an InfoObject, however i get the message that not all masterdata can be deleted because it is still used.
I have deleted all relevant cubes without luck.
How do i find out where the masterdata is used??

Master data might be used in the queries as it might have been hardcoded in the selection criterion. Try to remove the selection criterion from the queries and it shoud do the trick.
Second option would be:
Use transaction SLG1, Give RSDMD as Object and MD_DEL as sub-object and press F8. That should help you!

and is there anyway to find out deleted objects in sap-bi.? without taking basis help can we find out that?

It should work
After going to TCODE 'SE11' -> Database Table 'BALHDR'
Give OBJECT as 'RSD'
SUBOBJECT as 'IOBJ_DEL' and try to execute it will give list of all infoobject deleted.
I think you date range is wrong, if you remember technical name of infoobject give it in EXTNUMBER.

Problem deleting Infoobject.

I am trying to cleanup some legacy InfoObjects. When I go to delete the InfoObject, I get the error that it could not be deleted b/c its still used.
In the detail of the log, I get the message its still referenced. Specifcially this:

/BIC/OIZSOLDTOCD is still used in Table /BIC/CAAAZOORDERS
Domain /BIC/OZSOLDTOCD (Revised and active vers.) was not deleted (check references)
/BIC/OZSOLDTOCD is still used in Data element /BIC/OIZSOLDTOCD
However, the two tables its suppsidly used in don't exist!!! (/BIC/CAAAZCSELTHRU and /BIC/CAAAZOORDERS)
What can I do to fix this?

OK. I finally got the object to delete, but I am still not comfortable w/ what is going on.
Your suggestion got me to poking around. The first big issue is that the structures which were holding the reference - /BIC/CAAAZCSELTHRU and /BIC/CAAAZOORDERS could not be pulled up or located in SE12/SE11.
<b>I couldn't even enter in the full table name, it kept cutting it off!!! However, the only way I could get ot them was thru the where used list, nowhere else could I pull them up!
I deleted the reference of the InfoObject table in both structures, I don't think I deleted the structure from the where use list. This then allowed me to go back and delete the InfoObject.
I don't get why I could not pull up the structures other then displaying them in the where used list.

Take an approval to open the production system. While you delete the infoobject , it will ask for transport request to save under.

Delete infoobject from an infocube with data

I have just added an infoobject to an infocube which has data. Now, I need to delete that infoobject and I think that if the infocube has data I couldnt delete the infoobject.
How can I delete the infoobject without removing the data?

Hi David,
deleting an infoObject from an database table is everytime difficult. The correct solution depends on different requirements:
How many datasets are in the infocube - how large is the cube.
Can you reload the data from a source or an DSO
Does your release support remodeling.
The best solution would be - delete the data, transport your change of datamodel to prod system and reload the data. The second solution could be: create an copy of the actual infocube, load the the data from the original cube to copy, delete the data from original cube, transport your changes to prod system, load the data from copy to "new"original cube, delete the copy.
You can also try to use the remodeling function. But there is no guarantee that this will work correct. We made some good and some bad experiences with this tool.

How can i delete an infoobject, which is in active version, but without any data ?
When i try to delete it, by rt clicking it, it says "infoobject XXX is not available in Version A. & Error when deleting object infoobject XXX."
Why it says like that ? So how do i delete an infoobject, which i dont want to keep anymore ?
