Deletion of source system after an upgrade : consequences ?

Hello,
I'm a sap basis guy.
We have a SAP BI 701 sytem mapped to our 4.7 Non Unicode source system.
I have now perfromed the unicode migration and upgrade to ECC6 of the source system on another server.
It means now, that I have two sourtce systems with exactly the same SID, and logical name.
Sicne the BI connexion in RSA1, is based on the logical system name , I have no ther choice than delete the old
source system, and recreate it with the same logical name but different connexion parameters (hosts, ...) and differentversion (
I have talked with the BI team, but thnigs are quite unclear about the consequences of deleting a source system in RSA :
Do all Transformations/ Transfer Rules between DataSources and targets are deleted ?
Does it mean that they have to be manually recreated after the new source system has been recreated ?
Is there any workaround ?
Thank you in advance for your help.
Regards.

Hello,
If you do not save the source system dependent objects to a transport request before you delete the connection then the objects will be lost , you can avoid this by saving the objects to a transport request and then release the transport before you delete the connection and import it in the new system, the steps in general are below:
RSA1
Transport Connection
Button 'Collection mode'  set to 'start manual collection'
Press 'Source system assignment' button (it's the one left of the
'Request BEx' button)
Select the source systems you want to save the transfer rules for
Continue
Button 'Grouping' set to 'Save for system copy'
At the left border click on 'Object Types'
Extend tree  'Source system' LSYS
Double click on 'Select objects'
Select the source systems you want to collect objects for
the source system is now displayed in the right box
Press collecting button ('gather dependent objects')
this may take a while
Right click on the root of the tree and select
Transport all below
Expand the whole tree and check if there isn't an object which is locked
by an other open transport request !!
(the column 'Transport request' has to be empty (BEFORE deleting the corresponding source system
connection!)

  • Refresh of BW System without deleting the source system

    Hello experts
I want to know, is it possible to refresh BW system without deleting the source system.
That means I just do the renaming via BDLS and reconnect.
If I do so, do I have a post refresh activities.
According to OSS note 886102  and 184447, there are 3 scenarios:
Scenario A: You want to copy the entire system infrastructure connected by the BW source system connections (that means the entire system group).
Scenario B: You want to copy a single BW system of the group, the sourcesystem is not copied.
Scenario C: You want to replace a single sourcesystem of a BW-system with another system using a database or client copy (Example: Refresh of the OLTP consolidation system by a copy of the OLTP production system). The BW system is not copied
Assuming I use Scenario A, can I refresh BW system without deleting the source system.

    Hi:
The primary source of information is the how to paper on this topic:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/bff13df2-0c01-0010-6ba7-bc50346a6fd8
YOu are correct, you can refreh the BI system without deleting the source system.
Thanks for any points you assign (after all, I wrote the paper!).

    Dear Linturi,
believe you trying to delete the current R/3 source system and trying for SAP BI my self source system right?
    If yes
We can very well dete the source system
The impact would be in th efollowing ways
You will loose entire datasources, transfer rules and PSA related to that particular source system and it will be Major impcat on you Bi system which is not at all preferable untill unless you are really no more use of the R/3 source system and its configured with any of the bi pass clients.
Coming to BI Myself souce system : Which is purely realted to the DATA MART Loadings and its also a similar like R/3 source system connection you have to give ALEREMOTE passwords and serve ips.
    Hope this helps u...

  • Deleting a Source System in BW Prod

    Hi Guys,
I am trying to delete the assignment of R/3 Production as a Source system in BW Prod but the system is not letting me- informing that:
Package ZBWD does not exist- choos display object or cancel.
The reason I am doing this is at present the source system is assigned to Infoobject 0WBS_ELEMT but I want to assign the 0WBS_ELEMT_ATTR & 0WBS_ELEMT_TEXT datasources to the 0WBS_ELEMT_ATTR & 0WBS_ELEMT_TEXT InfoSources.  I would like to un-assign this datasource from 0WBS_ELEMT and assign to the InfoSources stated above.
I am trying to bring in WBS Element master data but found in Dev when I bring it in through the infoSources it is available in BW but through the 0WBS_ELEMT infoObject there is no data in the masterdata tables.
How can I delete this source system assignment in BW Prod?
    Thanks
    Depesh

    hi Depesh,
i think system won't let you delete source system assignment in prod if it's closed for modification
(transaction scc4), if you really need to do this directly in prod, please ask basis open awhile,
have you tried delete the source system assignment in dev and transport to prod ?
regarding package zbwd not exist, check in prod if package zbwd exist,
transaction se80, choose 'package', type in zbwd,
it will display the package or ask to create new if not exist. transport package zbwd from bw dev if it's not exist in prod.
    hope this helps.

  • Test System (BQ1) Objects showing up wrong Source System after Transport.

    Hi Experts,
We are working on IS-U BI7.0 Project. We have finished with our Development and have transported the DataSources, Transformations and DTPs from Development (BD1) into Test (BQ1) Systems.
We have entered values in the Conversion of Logical Source Systems correctly.
When we select the DataSource and Click Object Directory Entry from the Extras Menu, we found that the Original Source System is defined as BQ1 instead of BD1 (Development System), which is where the Object is getting Transported from.
We have implemented an SAP Note:1008633 (Incorrect Source System after Transport (RSTRAN 514) but couldn't resolve the issue.
We basically want all the Objects in the BQ1 (Test System) showing the Original Source System as BD1 (Development System) but only the DataSources and it's connected Transformations and DTPs are originating from the BQ1 (Test) System itself (The Transformations when Transported from BD1 to BQ1 are Transported with a different Technical Name which is very strange).
Had anyone faced similar problem and if so, what was the effective solution implemented.
Any help in this regard is very much appreciated.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Best Regards,
    Chandu.

It is resolved by our Basis.
    Thanks,

  • Initialization cannot be deleted in source system

    Hi All,
While doing an Init Load for the first time, the load failed sinc there was a dump in the source R3 system.
Then I corrected the error (a CMOD coding error) in R3 and tested it in RSA3. The simulation worked fine.
Now I am trying to do a second INIT for which I need to delete the first failed INIT (from Scheduler->Initialization options for this source->Delete).
It says "<b>Initialization for Data Source 0CA_TS_IS_1 Can Not Be Deleted in Source System...There was a dump in source system...Check the short dumps in the source system (/nst22 and /nsm21)...</b>."
Please suggest how to correct this.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Vishno

    Anil,
      Firstly thanks for ur reply.
      As per your suggestions:
    1. I made it red and tried to delete from the Info pkg screen but it didnt allow.
    2. Then I tried to delete from RSA7. It dumped.
    3. So I deleted the two entries in two tables ROOSPRMSC & RSSDLINIT
    in R3 and .
    4. I recreated, replicated the Datasource.
    5. But now on trying to open a Info Pkg its dumping (Message type X). It also doesnt allow to create one.
Our BW DEV box is BW 700 Level 010 SupPack KW70010
I tried OSS notes 852443, 888677 and 872278 but didnt allow me to implement.
    Please suggest.
    Thanks

  • Deletion of Source system

    Hello,
I need help in deleting any links that exist for an old R3 system. We have migrated our source R3 system which was called SP1 to another system called SP2. Now we have datasources, DTP and update rules pertaining to the old system that we would like to delete. I tested out an option to delete the source system in the workbench by clicking under  the Source system , choosing the one I wished to delete and right clicking on that and choosing Delete. I got a warning saying that its not possible to delete because the RFC connections are no longer available, which is true. I chose Ignore in the message window that popped up and that led to all the datasources, DTP and infopackages getting deleted. This seems too good to be true that we got rid of all links to the old system . What I am wondering is whether this method causes some other important data to vanish as well. Is there also a better way to delete all links to the old system.
    Regards,
    Jaya

    Hi Jaya
As you said there is no connectivity with the source system, then you are no more using the Datasources from that source system.
Ensure that you are not using the datasources in your regulary used Infosources.
If you are using then they me be set to inactive.
As you said youa re not at all using that source system you can delete that.
    Regards

  • Deleting a Source System Connection

    Hi all,
We made some updates to a QA source system and when we try to do a 'activate and replicate datasources', errors are being thrown out. So, we decided to delete the connection and recreate the connection. I have a few questions:
    1) If I right click on the source system in BI and click delete, it is prompting for a transport request to delete transfer structures. What are the steps to follow in deleting the source system? How will I be able to rebuild the transfer structures?
    2) I deleted a couple of transfer structures. Can I roll it back? If yes, how
    Greatly appreciate your help.
    Anita.

instead try to trouble shoot the issue with the source system creation.
i don't beileve you can easily recover a deleted transfer str / rule without recovering from a backup or transporting it again from dev, once the sourcesystem issue is resolved
i believe this source system definition has been there for a while therefore just deleting it outright is not recommended for a lot of reasons,,,,,,,

My touchpad doesn't work on windows system after I upgrade the OS from window 8.0 to 8.1, can someone help me how to settle it, thanks,

Hi candy, glad that you found that Shockwave Flash Object, it works with the Flash files and is very important
The NPSWF files that you said are not there, those are for the Firefox browser or Chrome or some other browser. If you use Firefox and want the Flash Player for that, then close all of your browsers so you are only looking at your Desktop.
Click on this Flash Player Installer for Firefox and SAVE it to your Desktop. Then RUN it from your Desktop, and after it is finished Installing, Restart your computer.
Then Using Firefox go to the plug-ins and find a SWF vs 10.0.45.2 and make sure it is Enabled. This is just like the Shockwave Flash Object for Internet Explorer, but it is the one that works with Firefox.
Let me know if that is what you wanted to do. If you don't use Firefox, but Chrome or another browser, then this will work for that one also.
If you don't use another browser, then don't do any of this. I just thot maybe you did and that is why you were concerned that the NPSWF files were not there.
    Thanks,

  • Reconnect R/3 source system after BW systemcopy ?

We want to copy our BW 3.0b development system as a BW sandbox system in order to try out the BW 3.5 migration.
Therefore, we performed a system copy of our BW DEV system to a new machine. On the BW-side we ran BDLS to get a new logical name for the system and defined a RFC connection to our R/3 Dev Source System (incl. appropriate RFC users).
On the R/3 side we also defined an additional RFC connection to the "new - just copied" BW-system.
While trying to reconnect our R/3 Devopment source system within the new BW we encountered the problem that the R/3 system recognized that there already exists a connection to a BW (the old BW dev). If we take this option, the old connection is deleted and a new one is defined. However, from the R/3 perspective we want two BWs connected. It seems the problem has to do with the IDOCs and TRFC port definitions, because the IDOC type ZRSBW010 seems to point to the wrong system.
Unfortunately, we are stuck at the moment.
Any kind of help or hints to relevant SAP documents would be much appreciated.
In the OSS we found some notes on this topic (325525 etc.) but we still not sure how to proceed.
However, in general, we think it shouldn't be a problem to have one R/3 connected to several BW's or is it?
Frank Schülke, E.ON Ruhrgas IT, Germany

    Frank,
It is possible to connect a copy of your BW dev. system to the same R/3 system. The problem you are experiencing is related to the connection ID from table RSABASIDOC. This is a unique ID in your system (normally the first two characters of your source system name). Tis ID is in RSBASIDOC in yuor BW and R/3 system. When you copy your BW and try to connect it to your R/3 system again, you will get the conflict you already noticed.
The solution is to run SE37 --> RSAP_BIW_DISCONNECT in your new BW system (make a screen shot first of the RSBASIDOC entry!). This will be cleared by the function module. You will notice that the source system is not visible anymore is RSA1. However all the transfer rules etc. are still there (invisible). This would not be the case when you are doing a remove source system in RSA1 as suggested.  Now you can create the source system again via the normal way. Use exactly the same name for the source system mas you made it via the BDLS. During this process the BW and R/3 systems are "negociating" a new unique connection ID for this BW-R/3 connection. This creation of the source system will also make all the related info visible again (like transfer rules).
Note in general: If you get a screen saying the connection ID is already used, ALWAYS choose DO NOT DELETE. After chosing DELETE there is no way of solving the issue other then restoring the system from backup! In this case you would delete everything in your R/3 system regarding the original BW system! When you get the message, check RSBASIDOC in both systems as there will be a conflict.
    Regards,
    Sander.

  • DELETE OLD SOURCE SYSTEM IN BW

    Hello.
We have one source system created a few years ago but source system physically doesn´t exits.
I tried to delete it in RSA1, but we got many errors causes there´s not any system whith this physicall and logical name.
I can execute function RSAP_BIW_DISCONNECT and disconnect it, but I have a lot of entries of that system in tables like RSISOSMAP. I think that we have many transfer rules and PSA tables with this system
Are there any procedure to delete an old source system manually?
    Kind regards.
    Marta

    Thank you Manga.
    But I have a question...
If I execute function, what happens with transfer rules and PSA tables?
We want to clean about this old source system data.
    Thank you

  • You Cannot select assembly order for deletion error with BAPI_SALESORDER_CAHNGE after EHP6 upgrade

    Hi All,
We are using Z transaction to update Wbs element data to sales order line item through BAPI_SALESORDER_CHANGE. After EHP6 upgrade while updating Wbs element data to old sales orders(Created before EHP6 upgrade)  we are getting  You cannot select assembly order < order number> for deletion (V1 748) error in BAPI return table, For multiple Sales order run.
But if  we run the same order individually it is getting processed successfully. W e are passing the same values in individual and multiple case.
We debugged the BAPI and found one more error related to Authorization, But BAPI return table is giving different error (V1 748)message. Please help us in finding the issue.

  • Conversion of source system after tranport

    Hi
Im planning to to transport BI-Obejcts from DEV to QA . Where can i give
'conversion of sourcesystem after transport' and how can i give them.
can i give in DEV or QA .please let me know
    kumar

    Hi Ravi,
Log into your QA system. Go to RSA1 -
    > Transport connection. Click on the icon Source system conversion or just press F8. Click on new entries in the next screen. Here just maintain the source system conversion. For example in Dev if the R/3 source system name is R3DEVCLNT100 and in QA it is R3QACLNT200 then in the original source system field enter R3DEVCLNT100 and in the target source system field enter R3QACLNT200. All the source system dependent objects like datasources, transformations etc which are assigned to R/3 dev system in BW Dev will be assigned to R/3 QA system in BW QA.
Similarly maintain entries for all other source systems defined in BI. Hope this helps.
    regards,
    Sumit
