Deletion of video clips

I could not capture the entire contents of my SR-11 Sony camcorder because of a memory warning. I have 2 x 3 GB of memory on my MacPro and less on my camcorder so
1. do not understand and
2. there are some clips I captured that I would like to delete completely. When I open the scratch pad project with the finder, the clips are grey and can not be deleted. How do I delete?

It sounds as though either:-
a. Your Hard Drive is filling up or
b. In the FCE>System Settings>Scratch Disks you may have "Limit Capture Now" set to 30 minutes or some other low figure.
To delete the video files you need to navigate to them on the scratch disk and drag them to the trash and empty it.

With iMovie for iOS (iPad) I try to permanently delete a video clip from my iPad.
I follow the article http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3186. But even if the video clip I want to delete is not used in a project, I simply do not find the Edit button in the upper-left corner above the Video browser as mentionned.

Did you shoot the video in iMovie?
Or did you shoot it via the camera app?
If it was shot in the camera app, then it needs to be deleted in the Photos app.
Can you see the video in the photos app?
You can permanently delete a video clip from your device as long as it’s not in the Camera Roll or the Photos app.

Can't get rid of audio when deleting a video clip

I am very new to keynote.
I put in a video clip (mp4 or mov) and that's fine. I decide I want to change it so I delete it from the slide and insert another one. Tha's fine but the audio from the first clip is still there and plays away along with the new. If I do not add another clip but just press play the audio plays away on its own.
Obviously I have no visual indication of where this clip is and in my ignorance do not know where to find it to delete it. If i delete the whole slide of course it disappears but that is not the long term answer I am looking for.

@dkg62 – to make clear what's going on, select the text frame and show us another screenshot.
There are at least four cases where you can get a text like that. All cases imply, that the font you'd like to use is missing. I simulated this by formatting text with a font weight that is not available by a character style.
1. The most likely case: There is baseline shift applied; here in my case 9pt.
All other cases are academical, because the pink highlighting is aligned with the text:
2. Text frame options, baseline set to a fixed value (zero in this case)
3. Text on path and the text frame options (baseline) is just the standard default. You can see a second #-end of story sign inside the text frame.
4. Text on path and the text frame options (baseline) is set to fixed (zero in this case). The second #-sign inside the text frame is shifted above because of the fixed value of the baseline option of the text frame options. And obscured by the pink highlighting.

How do I delete UNUSUED video clips from imovie on ipad?

My kids created a video using imovie on our ipad. I now want to delete the unused video clips, so they don't burden my storage space. I cannot find any way to do this. Please help?

You must delete the video from the Photos app.

I created an Imovie on Ipad. Before exporting the Imovie, I deleted the video clips from camera roll. Error message "this proj. contains clips which have been deleted from your photo library." Help! Can I recover the "preview" file of my video in Imovie?

Is there an app out there to find the files within Imovie app on my Ipad where the Imovie "preview" is playing from?
I deleted the original vidoe clips from my Camera Roll before exporting the Imovie to Youtube because my camera roll was out of memory.
I'm using the latest Imovie app for Ipad.

I deleted some video clips on my iPad 2 accidentally I would like to retrieve how do I do it? Please advice .

If it is included in an iTunes or iCloud backup you can restore to that. If not, the videos are gone.

Have accidentally deleted video clips and now an iMovie project won't play (did initially after deletion but no longer). Is there any way to rectify this? I have a very upset daughter as the video was her holiday memories....

There's no harm in looking inside the Trash folder.
When a file or folder is deleted, it is moved into the Trash folder to give you a chance to recover it if it was deleted by mistake. Of course that means Trash folder could grow large as time goes and more files are deleted.
You can recover your movies if they are still in the trash.
You should also empty the trash if you think you don't need the files in it to free up disk space.

Imovie on my ipad ...refuses to recognize AVCHD Video. Also when i remove video clips already used in a project, it is unable to recognize missing clips after I've put them back. How do I get around these 2 issues?

My iMovie refuses to recognize, import, or work with AVCHD Video. It also refuses the same video clips even after I have converted them to Mp4. Also, when I delete a video clip already used in a project, then later import the same clip back to my ipad, the software is unable to recognize and find the clip again! Help! I also got the second problem. The storyboard on iMovie trailer has all these missing videos. If I import them on my iPad it doesn't find them.
If you find a solution it would be much appreciated to share it here ... I'll do the same.

How can I lock video clips to the timeline?

I know that holding down the command key disable ripping when triming.
But that doesn't work when deleting clips. It would be useful to lock videoclips to the timeline, so they keep their position.
Lock audio to playhead doesn't help the situation.

You cannot lock a video clip to the timeline. The program is designed so that when you delete a video clip, the other clips slide over to fill the gap. Otherwise you would have holes all over your project, or have to manually move them over. You would want to lock the audio clips to the non-deleted video clips, so that the audio slides over with them.
If you want to preserve the gap left by a deleted video clip, first insert in front of it a black clip of the same exact duration, and then delete the video clip. The black clip would hold all of the other clips in position, but leave you with a black hole to fill or delete. To make a black clip, separate two video clips on the timeline, and control-click on the empty space. In the resulting drop down menu, select Convert Empty Space to Clip. Then control-click on the black clip and in the resulting window adjust the time duration by overwriting the values in the time box and then clicking the Set button.

How can I delete a .mpg video clip that has been "processing" for weeks?

Weeks ago I loaded a 380mb .mpg video clip using Express Loader that is still "processing". I want to delete it but cannot because the software produces an error message notifying me that I can't delete it until processing is complete. Obviously the "processing" is stuck. Bug in editing a video clip when deleting a portion of it

I'm trying to edit out the bad parts of a single video clip. I selected the clip in the event viewer and chose to open it in the timeline. When I cut the clip in two places using the blade, and then delete the portion in the middle using the backspace, it not only takes out the video and audio of the selected bad subclip (good!) but also the audio portion of the next good clip (bad!), but leaving the video of the next clip intact. Am I missing something? Looks to me like an obvious bug.

Deleting Transitions without offsetting video clips

I just loaded up Final Cut Studio and in the older versions there is a way to delete transitions between clips without having the video clips shift to the left. How is this accomplished in the new program.
I working with a series of video clips put down to music. That is why I need the video clips to stay on there origanal spots

As I read your post I wonder if you are working under a misunderstanding of how transitions work and are displayed. What was said above is true if you are removing a clip. Things do not move when removing a transition - this is why.
If you have two clips next to each other on the same video track and drop in a transition, the clips do not change position or timing. Lets say in this example the transition is centered, that is, the transition is using equal length handles from each clip. The transition is drawn showing the area or length of time that the overlap occurs using the handles available. At the center of length of the transition is the cut line even though you can not see it now.
When the transition is removed, It VISUALLY looks like the the the clip end point (the end of the clip in the timeline) moves, however, the cut remains where it has been the whole time.
If this isn't what you're asking - sorry for my misunderstanding.
