Deliverable unit of measure (UoM) determination?

Hello,
I would like to know if SAP supports the following process:
Lets say we have a material of fluid (e.g. water), whose base unit of measure is Liter.
Lets also say that we have an STO to transfer 100 liter of water from one plant to another.
In the supplying plant, there are 500 bottles of 2 liter each, and 4 bottles of 20 liters each.
We would like the system to suggest in this case to deliver 4 bottles of 20 liter, and 10 extra bottles of 2 liter in order to supply the full quantity.
Is this a process that can be implemented in SAP standard? how?
How should the bottles in the supplying plant be represented?
Can the same material be in stock in different units of measure? or each "bottle type" should be a different material?
Thanks in advance,
Doron Oded

Hi,
You will create a material for water with base UOM as litre. In alt UOM you can include bottle as a UOM. Also in material master in plant data storage 2 view the unit of issue shld be updated as bottle. Now whenever you are trying to issue system will propose bottle as UOM..
In this case you wud hav defined one bottle is ex 10 litres.
I am not sure how to maintain 40 litres bottle or son

  • BEx Query:  Attribute not display Unit of Measure (UOM)

    In a BEx I am trying to create a query that displays attributes to 0EMPLOYEE.  One of the custom attributes is the employee's rate of pay.  We have the hourly rate, nightly rate, etc.  This attribute is a numeric attribute with currency assigned as the Unit of Measure.  I am trying to create a query displaying the pay rates from the attributes of 0EMPLOYEE but remove the unit of measure in the output.  I am aware this can be done on key figures using the NODIM formula.  How can I remove on an attribute?
    Example:  Output is $10.25 UOM.  I want it to display as $10.25.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Create a Formula Variable with Replacement Path for this Attribute.
    Use NODIM function for the Formula Variable.
    Let me know if it works according to your requirement.

  • Multiple units of measure (UoM) inventory 8.8

    Anybody have any documentation on the multiple units of measure feature in 8.8.  I have done the delta training but I can't see it in the current version I have installed (PL09).
    Do I have to update to PL10 to get this feature?  Does it not exist anymore?  Or am I missing something?
    Thanks in advance,
    Mike

    Thank you for trying to help but unfortunately you are all not exactly correct on this...
    I spoke to SAP and the functionality described in the 8.8 Delta video using strawberries as an example is misleading.
    The new feature allows you to change Items Per Purchase Unit / Items Per Sales Unit on the document dynamically even if there are transactions to the item.
    2007 and below locked the items per purchase / items per sales unit after a single transaction.
    So the setup for this is NOT in the item master data it is a field called Items Per Unit in the marketing documents.  The items per unit becomes the default but you can modify it for each document dynamically.
    I made a simple dropdown list UDF and an FMS that allowed me to select different lengths and whatnot.  And the FMS would input the correct conversion rate into the Items Per Unit field.
    So for a purchasing (in this case a purchase order) example we store this particular unit in metric tonnes but we occasionally buy it in 25kg bags / 2200kg totes, etc. For the 25kg bags each bag would be 0.025 metric tonnes (mt).  So when the dropdown says 25kg bag, the FMS inputs 0.025 in the items per unit field.  Then when we say 100 bags, it would put them into inventory at 100 (qty) * 0.025 (items per unit) = 2.5 mt.  In this case we inventory the item in metric tonnes and sell it in metric tonnes so it's a simple example only on the purchase side.
    The only caveat to this is that the price doesn't dynamically change with the items per unit, but you could either make an FMS for that as well, or simply type it in manually.
    This is for 8.8 ONLY not 2007.
    There is no real documentation or training on this currently but I have confirmed this with SAP and used it in the system.
    Hope this helps,
    Mike

  • Unit of Measure(UOM) for PO and Packing

    Dear all,
    we have got issue about UOM for Purchase order and Packing.
    When we create PO with vendor then we use UOM is  set for example: sofa.
    but when we GR from Vendor  the storekeeper check artice follow UOM is Set. (packing).
    pls help us

    Dear,
    Basing on your post - your stock keeping unit is SET.
    Purchase order is SOFA.
    Go to material master and maintain basic UOM as SET and Order unit as SOFA.
    Whenever you are raising PO using this material, the PO UOM will be SOFA. Maintain the conversion factors if applicable.
    One more way in PR - Source of supply tab you can mention purchase organization and order unit as SOFA (this wihthout making changes in material master). But everytime create PR indentor has to pay attention towards this entry.

  • SAPscript unit of measurement (UoM) changed during print

    Hi Experts,
    I am doing my SAPscript and its print program for Invoice printing (VF02/VF03). The problem only occurs when its UoM is BOX. It will display in the Invoice printing as '012' instead of BOX. When I debug in the print program, in structure VBDPR (field VRKME), it has the correct UoM which is BOX. When I debug my SAPscript, it will give me 012 as its UoM!! I don't know what is the reason behind this behavior. Please advice.
    Points will be given....Thanks in advance.

  • Conversion of Unit of Measure in ALV Grid

    Hi all,
    I am using function 'REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY' to display some records in ALV grid. The record displays material, the quantity of the material consumed and the unit of measure (UoM) of the quantity. I am fetching the data from the table AUFM and the field I am using for UoM is ERFME.
    The problem is that when the UoM is displayed in the ALV, it is displayed as KAR but when i print the report or check the print preview, the UoM is displayed as CAR. I want to display CAR also in the ALV.
    I have tried using the function 'CONVERSION_EXIT_CUNIT_OUTPUT' which converts the KAR to CAR in the ALV, but when I print it or check the print preivew ,  it shows asterisks (*) in the UoM field.
    Can anyone tell me why this is happening and how I can solve this problem? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Hamza

    Hi Ozkar,
    I tried the function 'CONVERSION_EXIT_CUNIT_OUTPUT', it worked fine when displaying the UoM in the ALV, meaning it displayed CAR instead of KAR, but when I printed the list or chicked the print preview, it displayed stars (***) in the UoM field.
    Anyway, I tried something else and now it is working fine. I am writing below what I did so that if anyone else has this problem, they can also do what I did.
    As I said before, the UoM field was showing KAR instead of CAR in the ALV. So after passing the data to an internal table which would be used to display the data in the ALV, I called the function 'CONVERSION_EXIT_CUNIT_OUTPUT' and converted KAR to CAR. this displayed CAR in the ALV.
    Now, to also get CAR in the print out and print preview,I declared variables gt_event_exit and lt_event_exit.
    DATA: gt_event_exit TYPE  STANDARD TABLE OF slis_event_exit,
               lt_event_exit TYPE slis_event_exit.
    The variable will 'lt_event_exit' will contain the function codes of the Print(&RNT) and Print Preview (&RNT_PREV) buttons on the ALV. In the form where I am calling the function 'REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY', I pass the function codes to lt_event_exit and append it to the internal table gt_event_exit.
      lt_event_exit-ucomm = '&RNT'.
      lt_event_exit-before = 'X'.
      APPEND lt_event_exit TO gt_event_exit.
      lt_event_exit-ucomm = '&RNT_PREV'.
      lt_event_exit-before = 'X'.
      APPEND lt_event_exit TO gt_event_exit.
    Next I pass this table to the parameter 'IT_EVENT_EXIT' of 'REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY'. I also create a form USER_COMMAND and pass this form to the parameter 'I_CALLBACK_USER_COMMAND' of 'REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY' as shown below.
    CALL FUNCTION 'REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY'
       EXPORTING
                 I_CALLBACK_USER_COMMAND = 'USER_COMMAND '
                 IT_EVENT_EXIT                          = gt_event_exit
    What the above does is that, when a user clicks on the print or print preview button, the system instead of printing the list, it passes the control to the form USER_COMMAND. After the form is processed, it prints the list.
    In the form, I placed a loop on the internal table containing the data to be shown and simply converted the CAR back to KAR. The code is given below.
      FORM user_command USING  r_ucomm LIKE sy-ucomm
                              rs_selfield TYPE slis_selfield .
        CASE r_ucomm .
          WHEN '&RNT' OR '&RNT_PREV'.
            LOOP AT i_final .
              CALL FUNCTION 'CONVERSION_EXIT_CUNIT_INPUT'
                 EXPORTING
                   input = i_final-erfme
                   language = sy-langu
                 IMPORTING
                   output = i_final-erfme
                 EXCEPTIONS
                   unit_not_found = .
              MODIFY i_final.
            ENDLOOP.
       WHEN .
       WHEN OTHERS.
        ENDCASE.
    I hope this is helpful to anyone who has the same problem as I did. Now what I cant figure out is why the system automatically converts KAR to CAR when displaying print preview or when printing the list.
    Well, thanks anyway for the suggestion Ozkar.
    Regards,
    Hamza

  • Adjusting the behavior of sales unit of measure on sales order

    Hello Everyone,
    I have a question regarding adjusting the behavior of sales unit of measure (UOM) on sales order (SO).
    We maintain 3 UOM on material master u2013 A, B, C; where A is base UOM and C is sales UOM.
    If we change the material on existing sales order in VA02, system also always changes the UOM on SO to C as well because C is sales UOM on material master. Sometimes SO quantities are in A or B UOM and we do not want system to change them to C when material is updated.
    We know it is a standard SAP behavior and the question is if it can be adjusted somehow (in configuration or some other way), so system is not changing the UOM on existing SO to sales UOM when material is updated.
    PS if we leave sales unit of measure field in material master blank, when material on SO is changed system is still changing the UOM, now to the base UOM A
    Thank you!
    Alex

    ANSWER: According to SAP there is no way to change the behavior without taking the risk of breaking a lot of stuff.

  • Basic Unit of Measure & Alternative Unit of Measure ?

    How to configure basic and alternative unit of measure(UOM) for a material ?
    If   KG - basic UOM
        Mtrs - Alternative UOM
    Here we procure material (GR, PO) with basic UOM, no prob with this system ill pick basic UOM automatically.
    and if we need to make GI with Alternative UOM ?
    How to configure the above scenario ?
    thankq

    Hi,
    As you procure material (GR, PO) with basic UOM(KG) and you want to make GI in Mtrs - Alternative UOM.
    Go to MM02 , enter your material{( you must have UOM(KG) } and select view of “General Plant data/Storage 1” and in  “unit of issue” field enter meter, then system will ask you to enter conversion factor  Mtrs  to KG. Enter your conversion factor and save.
    Now try ur transaction.

    Dear Doron Oded,
                First thing, I would like to ask,
    How the conversion factor maintained between bottle to  liters. As peryour therad base UoM is Litres - what is the sales UoM- ist Litres or Bottles?
    if bottles , what is the conversion factor such as ( 1 Bottle = 2 or 20 litres)
    if there are different variants interms of UoM into Bottles then you have to have different line items such as
    SB= Small bottle = 2 Litres
    BB= Big bottle -= 20 litres
    Then in sales order:-
    Line item
    10 - M1 - 10 SB ( 10 * 2 = 20 LT)
    20 - M1 - 4   BB .( 4 * 20 - 80 LT)
    This is the way you can achieve in std SAP.
    Note: Either you can go with the same material code with diff UoM's or different material codes with single UoM- depends on your requirement - whichever suits to your business. Generally this requirement will come from Bottling comp's
