Hi Josh,
This is a new install. The vmnic's are not going to the same vswitch. I am not using the dell version of ESXi but the other working server is also not using the dell version either. There are 2 vmnic's configured on this device and only one vmnic is having this issue. Currently there is only 1 VM on this ESXi machine. The other vmnic (working vmnic) is being used for mgmt to provide VMs with mgmt connectivity. Thx

  • Dell 1950 w/ BCM 5708 running ESXi disconnects VM

Hi, I have a dell 1950 with a Broadcom/Qlogic BCM5708 nic running ESXi 5.5 that disconnects after a few hours. If I shut the interface on the ESXi side and bring it back up then it starts working again. This is a 2 port Card but I see the problem only with 1 of the Nic's.

I have gone through quite a few links related to the BCM5708 and one of the links suggested I turn of MSI-X in vmware.
    The link was kb.vmware.com/.../search.do;cmd=displayKC&externalId=1029070
I have since reverted back because it did not help and I also read somewhere that MSI-X does not apply to the BCM5708.
There were some other articles related to the BCM5708 and changing the Rx Buffer ring size value as per this URL "support.qlogic.com/.../2756;popup=true". The above setting did not help either. I went as high as 4080. The default was 255.
The weird thing is that I have another server with the exact same hardware specs but it runs an older firmware and driver which I cannot seem to find and that's working fine. Just for reference the other working server (separate physical server) has the following firmware
    /var/log # ethtool -i vmnic1
    driver: bnx2
    version: 2.2.5f.v55.6
    firmware-version: bc 2.9.1

Strangely the working server does not mention anything about UMP, which I believe is Universal Management Port, so am wondering if that is what is causing issues because even after updating firmware on the non-working server the UMP version has not changed. I believe BMC & IPMI are disabled on the non-working server but regardless the settings for that portion are similar across both devices except for the firmware version of the BMC which is lower on the working device. These are the settings for BMC on the non-working device

Can someone please advise what the issue might be and why is it that every few hours the VM associated with this vmnic0 get disconnected. vmnic1 on this same non-working server appears to be running absolutely fine without any issues. Thanks

New Dell in title, old Dell in comment. Have you tried updating the driver for the device from the Dell website? Put the service tag number in and it should show you all available downloads.
And 4th out of 5 allotted downloads? Are you referring to authorizations? De-authorize the machine before you remove the software, if that is what you are actually talking about.

  • Errors galore in DW CS3

I have been developing with DW since 1.0 and have upgraded
through every version. I have been trying to use CS3 since its
release, however I find that due to so many issues I revert back to
    DW8.
CS3 - Crashes continuously - Yes I deleted the appropriate
file and restarted. It is better but still crashes.
CS3 - I open an existing webpage and try to apply a new
behavior, any behavior - Sorry making this change would require
changing code that is locked by a template or translator. This
    change will be discarded.
CS3 - Tried to implement the highly touted Spry assets - a
ton of extra work for an extremley boring effect.
CS3 - Yep, just crashed again.
CS3 - Never imported all of my site definitions and ended up
having to re-set them up - about 40 thats a lot of time.
CS3 - In design view when you select a table or element it
places a HUGE measuring tool over the top of the box which blocks
your view and does not allow for you to select anything in that
    region.
Honestly, since the move to Adobe this product has quickly
gone down hill. Multiple upgrades with absolutely no reasonable
improvements, yet a less stable application. Not to mention our
complete history of purchases for Macromedia DW purchases and Adobe
purchases have never come together in our online account making
setting up a new computer difficult.
Is this a B$tch session and a rant, yes, absolutely it is.
Its just so dissappointing to have to pay for upgrades that are
totally un-usable. I wonder how many other developers are suffering
these same issues, how many have reverted back to DW 8, how many
have found real value in the last few "upgrades".
I know there are little to no alternatives to DW, or Adobe
products in general.... perhaps this is the problem.

If you are speaking of changing a legacy server behavior,
    yes, that's a good
suggestion. If you are speaking of changing a CS3 SB, then I

  • Transferring my library to a new computer - errors galore

I recently purchased a Retina iMac running OS 10.10.1.   My previous computer is a Mac Pro (2006) with 10.7.5 (latest OS it will support).  The Mac Pro has iTunes 12.0.1 with the database files on the system hard drive and the media files on a secondary internal hard drive.  I need some help getting my iTunes library on to the new iMac.
    Migration Assistant doesn't work.
Open Migration Assistant on the iMac and it finds the Mac Pro and offers a code which should be verified on the Mac Pro.  Open Migration Assistant on the Mac Pro and tell it to "Transfer to another Mac" and get the spinning gear.  Left it on all night, they never connected.
Consolidating my iTunes library back to the Mac Pro system hard drive doesn't work.
Following the directions from Apple Support, I pointed my current copy of iTunes (on the Mac Pro) to the default Music folder in order to consolidate the library all in to one folder so that I could transfer it at once to the iMac (iTunes > File > Library > Organize Library).  After about 20 minutes I got an error message: "Copying files failed. An unknown error occurred (-22)".  I assume there is one or more files screwing this up, but can't figure out which one(s).
Simply copying the entire iTunes media folder over my network from the Mac Pro to the iMac doesn't work.
Error (-50) and the copying fails before it gets more than 50 mb.  I'm currently attempting to copy one folder at a time.  But I don't assume that I'll be able to rebuild my old library on the new machine this way.
The current iTunes library is about 250 GB.  It is slow, but works on the old machine.
Anyone have any good ideas about how to make this work?

Do you have a b/u of your iTunes from the old Mac? If the b/u is of the entire iTunes folder then just connect the b/u HD and drag the iTunes folder form the b/u to the new Mac replacing the iTunes folder on the new Mac.
If you don't have a b/u then create a b/u on an ext HD - once completed then drag the new b/u to the new Mac's Music folder.
When I got my new rMBP I too had issues with Migration Assistant but FINALLY got it to work. Not the normal friendly experience I have had in the past. I think I had to go to the Target mode to get things to work.

  • Errors Galore

I've had so many problems with the OWC Mercury Elite Pro drive I got specifically for my Mac Book Pro, which is specifically for working with Pro Tools and Final Cut. I have 6 other cheap external drives which have given me no problems. But I'm using the OWC a little differently with PT, so maybe PT and/or MBP is related. Please read on...
Firewire is recommend to connect drives for working with audio and video, right?
Because my MBP only has one FW port, I ended up having to chain my 003 to the OWC drive. I'm sure that would hurt speed a bit, but I'm thinking it should handle recording 8 tracks at 24-bit/48k. I haven't tried that yet though - and with the other problems I'm having, I'm starting to think that the daisy chain might be a problem.
Are there any more options? Why does "Pro" Tools proprietary 003 interface only have FW400, and the Mac Book "Pro" only have one FW800 port?
Now, at first it would seem that all the problems are just a faulty drive, but with OWC's reputation, I'd think they checked it out pretty good when they repaired it the first time. SO, that makes me consider that running the 003 through it might have something to do with these problems.
The first time I returned the OWC drive, I thought maybe the bridge was messed up because I was using the eSATA port on the drive into an eSATA Express Card (so I could run 003 direct into MBP). Even though that should technically work (that's what eSATA drive and Express Card eSATA is for, right?), I hadn't heard of many people using eSATA - so I thought that might be the reason why people don't use it. I don't know - I posted on many forums, and nobody had much advice.
I was getting a lot of errors from the beginning, and was trying to use Time Machine to back up my MBP to a partition on the OWC drive. It all kept messing up, so I stopped using TM and eSATA. I thought that would surely fix things. But the drive kept failing. So I sent it to OWC for repair.
Now I got the drive back and it worked ok for a week or two.
    Till yesterday.
Here are the errors I've been getting:
Pro Tools will suddenly say that it's can't autosave, like the drive is read-only. It won't let me manually save either. PT says "Could not 14400 because (-50) while opening "psdgPBSRvmrbJZMW"."
    Sometimes PT crashes.
Sometimes PT says that the sample rate could not be set while loading, and will usually crash.
Sometimes PT says the disc space couldn't be allocated, when there was 400GB+ on the drive.
Sometimes after these errors, I will restart the MBP, and it will get stuck on bootup. I have to hard reset, and then it will boot completely.
It seems like PT won't let the MBP eject any drives while PT is open (even flash drives, etc. that PT isn't using). Maybe that's some kind of safety thing. But sometimes all applications will be closed and MBP still says drives are in use and can't be ejected, and to close applications - but there are no applications that show up as running!
I sent the OWC drive back once already because it gradually kept having errors until it basically stopped showing up completely - they said it was the bridge.
Now it's starting to fail Disk Utility verification - unable to repair. Seems a lot like what happened before I sent it to repair last time. I'm starting to think that if I send it again, I'll get it back and the same thing will happen.
So, I don't want to try this same configuration again. Any suggestion?
I've done so many hard resets the last few weeks on what is supposed to be "Pro" gear, and I've tried to keep this MBP/PT setup as clean as possible.

In another forum, someone recommended an Express Card with Firewire.
    I replied:
"Considering I got the eSATA express card from OWC too, I really think they should replace the drive and switch my card for a FW Express Card. But I'm kinda doubting they will since it's been more than 30 days. Maybe my repeated frustration will work in my favor...
So, is it common to use Express Cards? I always thought that a "pro" computer should come equipped to handle the most common of pro configurations. My setup requirements are pretty simple and standard - and that's what I am trying to do with this computer: work only, keep it clean, simple, running as fast as possible. But it seems like the MBP isn't ready for this out of the box.
I'm getting tired of buying different adapter cables and express cards, paying to ship drives for repair, etc. just to find out why my simple setup won't work the way it's supposed to."

  • Publishing Problems -- Errors Galore

    Here we go again...
I am yet again having repeated and contiunuous error messages when I publish any changes. I have spent a couple of hours of my life this past week on hold with calls to Apple (and many, many more at the keyboard) and finally was put through to an alleged iLife expert. He finally determined that the problem was Apple's not mine.
In short, I publish and finally get a message that there was an error in publishing. Sometimes, what I tried to publish actually does go through. But all the changed pages in my iWeb remain red and next time I publish iWeb tries to publish all the red pages, not just what was reecntly changed. Frustrating!!!!!
Anyone else having these woes or anything similar? Any suggestions that will help save my sanity?
    Best to all,
    Richard M.

Power Book G4 - 17 inch   Mac OS X (10.4.5)   iWeb site link (my labor of love): www.NWBpool.com

I think the really telling aspect of all of this is that your problems are intermittent and not consistent to any degree. I also believe that there are many instances when there are issues with the .Mac service that we as customers or endusers are not made aware of. iWeb has no choice a lot of times to just return one of its many "timeout" errors when the .Mac servers are misbehaving.
But I still strongly believe that there are other forces at work here. Count me in as probably one of many users who publish regularly using iWeb to .Mac who have never experienced a single error message. I think it has to do with my relatively simple site that has only small image files...no big video files and the like...and the fact that my main iWeb machine is relatively sparse with little to no 3rd party software installed in the system.
I hope that Apple gets a better handle on this situation with time. Unfortunately this is the most frustrating thing for people having issues. Good luck to you, Richard. Hopefully some fog lifts and you are able to publish again.

  • Dropping media, generic import errors galore

I'm in the middle of an edit and when I came back to it the day after starting it, this is what greeted me. An annoyingly large image below.
It has dropped several media files and when I try to reimport them, replace them or link them, I get the ever so helpful "generic import error". Any suggestions? The files that I'm trying to use are in the same path as those that work and I'm using a RAID drive so I don't understand why this is a problem all of a sudden since the files seem to be perfectly intact and work everywhere else.
I'm using Creative Cloud, so the software is up to date and OS X is the latest version.

    OK.
Next, open a new, empty project.  Go to Edit>Preferences>Media...  Take note of where the Media Cache files are stored.  In the section below, Clean the Media Cache Database.  Close Premiere Pro and use Finder to go to the location previously noted for the Cache files.  Delete them.  Reopen Premiere Pro, and then your project.  Let it rebuild the cache.

  • Libdispatch and MDWorker - errors galore!

    Hello,
I have had the following errors in Lion installed in a brand new earlly 2011 15 inch MBP. From time to time it seems like my MBP is doing some heavy processing, the fans go wild, it gets hot and I went to look into Activity Monitor and it shows that mdworker (AKA: SpotLight) takes about 22 to 45%+ of the CPU.
mdworker: (Error) ImportPluginLoading: Couldn't load plugin '/Library/Spotlight/iWeb.mdimporter/'
when I go to the "/Library/Spotlight/" the folder "iWeb.mdimporter" is not there but spotlight wants to find it there every 2-5 minutes
    quicklookd: BUG in libdispatch: 11A511 - 1813 - 0x4
After that I also get the following:
System Preferences: **** DesktopPref error: DSKiPhotoRootSource -loadData TIME OUT!!! There something wrong with iLife Media Browser
Does anybody have an idea of what to do?
    thx

    Hi Sonicray,
    I also get the
    mdworker: (Error) IMportPluginLoading: .....
    message a lot in console.
    I have two of them:
mdworker: (Error) ImportPluginLoading: Couldn't load plugin '/Library/Spotlight/iWeb.mdimporter/'
    and
    mdworker: (Error) ImportPluginLoading: Couldn't load plugin 'Spotlight/Google Earth.mdimporter/ -- /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/Google Earth Web Plug-in.plugin/Contents/MacOS/Google Earth for Plugin.app/Contents/Library/'
The iWeb.mdimporter plugin in /Library/Spotlight/ is broken in my case.
It exists, but has 1KB instead of several hundreds, and has no version shown in finder.
I compared it with the version I have on my old MBP, and it seems the same, even thought it used to have 4KB.
On my old Mac, it did not give me any console error messages.
The Google Earth error was not solved by reinstalling Google Earth as a newer version, unfortunately.
    It still remains.
Even though, when checking, the GE.mdimporter plugin within the GE internet plugin seems to be "OK".
So, unfortunately, no solution so far.
Lion brought me a lot of more console messages than Snow Leopard.
It seems that Apple changed a lot more things not to the eye within Lion that break old compatibilites.
SyncServer messages I had also a lot, and cleared old items via Syncrospector.
All the best, did you find a solution?

  • Dell printer error code: Function Address OxO cuased a protection default....exception code Oxc0000005

when I want to print something from my Dell printer, and I click on properties, (so I can print in black and white), Firefox now crashes. Never happened in the past.
    I get the following message:
Function address OxO caused a protection default.
    Exception code Oxc0000005
    how to I fix this.

Well, Jim, we are going to run through a clean uninstallation and reinstallation of your printer. If this does not work, we are going to take another step down the road, but I will need to know if your PC is manufactured by HP or by another maker. Anywho, moving on with the task at hand ...
First if you use a USB cord, make sure to remove it. Do not plug it back in until the software directs you to. Then go through the Devices and Printers, Programs and Features and Device Manager folders and insure that all copies, files, and programs related to the printer are removed. Then as directed, restart the computer.
In the START menu type "%temp%" and press ENTER. Here I want you to press Ctrl+A and hit DELETE. Some of the files will not allow you to delete them, skip those files and delete the majority that allows it.
Then follow this link to download the full feature software and drivers for the printer:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=3866949
Install that and let me know the result!

    Gracias

Muchísimas gracias Federico, me lo has solucionado.

  • Out of nowhere: Restore Errors Galore

    Hi
This morning I woke up to my 3G iPhone´s screen saying 'Restore Needed. iPhone cant make or receive calls'. Hmm. Surprise, first hiccup since having the phone 3 weeks ago. As usual, I Googled the error and found that the answer was to switch it off, Hold down the Home button, and connect to iTunes. Indeed, this took me to a Restore Button, which upon pressing began a 7 minute process with a nice progress bar on the iPhone screen, and all seemed to be working itself back to normality
Surprise though, after finishing, I get a message in iTunes 'the iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1013). and the Phone goes back to the screen where apparently it is begging to be plugged into iTunes.
I have gone through this last process 3 times now.
    How do I proceed?
    Thanks
    J

You need to go into DFU mode. To do this, get a windows pc, or boot your mac using bootcamp (No Parallels or VMware!). Make sure your iPhone is on and plugged into the computer with iTunes open. Hold down Top button and Home button for 10 sec, then release the top button, continuing to hold down the home button. Your iPhone screen should be black! If it is not, repeat and try again. Now iTunes should say "Waiting for iPod/iPhone", now, let go of the home button. Restore your iPhone from here. If it gives you an error, do not do anything! Let it do its thing. It might start up again in recovery mode (iTunes logo with USB cable). Do another restore, do not worry if this gives you an error. Now, if you got an error on that last one, make sure your phone is in recovery mode (it should be), and now hold down Top and Home buttons for 15 sec, and then let go of home button for 2 sec, and then let go of all buttons. The iPhone should boot up. From there, plug into itunes and just activate if needed.

  • Help! Crazy ECC Errors galore

A few days ago, I purchased a Mac Pro. I received it with (2) 512MB modules. Everything worked great. I then purchased (2) 1GB modules from OWC, the one's with the large heatsinks. I installed them on the top riser (Dimm 1 and 2), and installed the (2) 512 MB modules on the bottom riser (Dimm 1 and 2).
From that point on, it's been nothing but ECC errors, usually occurring with Dimm 1 (top riser). After a day of testing, I called OWC, and they sent me a replacement for my faulty modules, but I'm having the same problems with the new ram. I tried moving ram from the top riser to the bottom and even tried switching the riser cards, but nothing has worked so far.
I should have a total of 3 GB of ram, but sometimes when I boot up the Mac Pro, the System Profiler will see (4) 512 MB ram, when it should clearly see:
    1 512
    1 512
    1 GB
    1 GB
Does anyone have a clue as to why this is occurring? Your help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    -Dean

    Hi Ned,
Thank you for suggesting to use the Apple Hardware Test App.
Here's my little story du jour.
I called OWC. They told me their ram was bought from the same distributor Apple buys their ram from.
Having said that. After a week of ECC errors, and crashes, as per your suggestion, I ran the Apple Hardware Test. There was definately something wrong with the OWC ram, and not with only the first matched modules I received, but when OWC sent another set of modules, I was sure they were going to work. Nope! The same problem occurred. I couldn't get rid of the ECC errors fast enough.
This morning I was going to bring my computer in to Apple to get it repaired, but decided to run the Apple Hardware Test without any 3rd party ram. Everything was great. No errors of any kind.
I called OWC for a RMA# on both sets of ram, and shipped them back. Went to my local Mac dealer, and purchased (2) 1 GB Samsung modules, and everything has been peachy.
So if anyone's thinking about buying ram from OWC, I'd think twice about it.
