Dell 3007

Hey,
Anyone know if I have to do anything special to get the Dell Ultrasharp 3007 to work with my G5? The highest resolution I can choose is 1280x800. Seems odd. I am at my work computer and the it is a 2.5 Dual, with ATI Radeon 9800 XT.
The first guy at Dell was fairly useless as far as info, and I know Dell doesn't like to talk much about Macs, so hopefully someone here has some experience with this monitor.
Thanks,
Matt

You need a graphics card with dual-link DVI
In order of speed, starting with the fastest:
ATI Radeon® X800 XT MAC Edition RoHS 256MB (one ADC, one dual-link DVI)
NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra 256 MB DDL (two dual-link DVI)
NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT 256 MB DDL (two dual-link DVI)
ATI Radeon 9650 XT (one single-link, one dual-link DVI)
ATI Radeon® 9600 Pro PC & MAC Edition RoHS 256MB (one single-link, one dual-link DVI)

thought I had a different card. Looks like I have no dual link DVI. So my boss had to go out and buy a darn oct core Mac Pro. Aw shucks, I feel so bad...

  • Can the Quad G5 run the Dell 3007 WFP without buying any extra card/adapt

this monitor which has 4 years of warranty included
and 300 dollars cheaper than apples needs a DVI adaptor ( extra)
Will the quad run this monitor without having to buy the adaptor or extra card???
    thanks
any one have this monitor and is it good?

I had ran into the similar situation on DL380 G5. I searched on Internet and found someone mentioning something about installing patch 127112-11. I did install the whole patch cluster, which included this particular patch and the server rebooted fine in 64-bit mode. Hope this helps.

  • Encore CS4 Missing Frames/Stops Starts  and Blue Screen Crashes During Playback

I'm opening Premiere Pro CS4 with the default presets of HDV Capture, HDV 1080i30 software only mode. I'm capturing from my Canon HV20 using firewire HDV out 1440 x 1080. All goes well during the editing process but when I Dynamic Link and playback in Encore CS4 I observe dropped frames or stop and starts in Encore timeline sequence. At times I may even crash Encore with a Blue Screen. While still running Encore I can go back to Premiere Pro and play the timeline sequence with no issues. I will mention that I have the Matrox RT.X2 installed. But when starting a project I'm doing software only and disabling RT.X2 hardware playback. If I remove all effects in the timeline sequence and then Dynamic link to Encore the playback is normal with no effects. I did exported the Premiere Pro CS4 project using Adobe Media Encoder CS4 with a setting of MPEG 2 Blu-ray 1440 x 1080i 29.97 High Quality. I than import this MPEG2 back into Adobe Encore CS4 and it plays without dropping frames or hang-ups.

    Try to remember this:
Encore "Tries" to playback from premiere pro.  If you have a full set of previews available, it will play those, but you are probably seeing a lot of dropped frames and choppy video if your previews in premiere are set pretty low.  What you can do to combat this--in my experience--is export your video from premiere into a whole file in full format (in a non-lossy format with full frames, and in it's proxy equivalent;  I use Prores LT for many projects, and export that as a final output from premiere), then have that encode in an h.264 format (which will maximize smooth motion and quality playback).  Now... ...In your encore project, you should be outside of your original formats and in the intermediary that encore will recognize, so you should have it "Locate transcoded file".  Once you have done so, it will playback that movie in the preview.  I've done it.  With CS6 and 4gb ram with a vidcard at 256mb and a core2duo 2.16ghz, it plays fine.  With CS4 the encoding takes a while, and if you go to dvd, even longer for compression to work properly.  I use Compressor to output AVCHD .264 stream and an AC3 file.  When I locate the transcode for BD, I locate the .264 file first, then I get asked for the AC3 file.  This allows me to import them both, and have Encore encode them into the transport stream without transcoding.  I use Distributed processing to get the job done quickly, as I have minimal access to several computers and have connected them by that method for a Render Farming setup.  It works well.  With a hardware based device playing back your files, you won't see the same performance in Encore.  It has to make two hops already to get to your video, and adding a third (goes from encore to Premiere, then to codec, then plays normally;  third step is to external hardware, which eats up processing like crazy when it has to come all the way back to an encoding output to screen through encore, adding more steps for the system along the way) really can slow down the performance in Encore.  IF you take the Steps out by encoding a finished playback stream, Encore will handle it quickly with it's own processing.  It really does work well.  If you don't like it, make your changes in Premiere, then re-encode with your hardware and make an h.264 file for encore again.  You can use AME, but you'll always get standard Blu-ray (old file-stream format; lesser res and quality).  You can use Compressor to make AVCHD which allows for 264 output that is PSF or progressive that is interpreted as simultaneous fields (fake interlace), or even solid progressive formatting for AVCHD compatible players, and you can render-farm it to speed up the encoding process.

  • Adobe Media Encoder CS4 Causing Jerky Playback with Speed Changes

Here is an Matrox AVI that was captured in Adobe Premiere Pro CS4. Watching the edited clip with a speed change of 600% looked fine when played in Premiere Pro CS4.
When I export the clip using Adobe Media Encoder CS4 as MPEG2 Blu-ray with a preset of 1440 x 1080i High Quality playback is very jerky. An export of the same clip with normal speed looks great??
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

By the way I captured the same clip in Adobe software only mode using HDV as a capture settings.  The editing mode is Adobe HDV 1080i, 29.97 frames. The results are also jerky. When I render the clip captured it is also very grainy??

  • Maximum Bit Depth /Maximum Render Quality  Questions

    Maximum Bit Depth
If my project contains high-bit-depth assets generated by high-definition camcorders, I was told to select Maximum Bit Depth because Adobe Premiere Pro uses all the color information in these assets when processing effects or generating preview files. I'm capturing HDV using the Matrox RTX-2 Hardware in Matrox AVI format.
When I finally export my project using Adobe Media Encoder CS4, will selecting Maximum Bit Depth provide better color resolution once I post to Blu-ray format?
    Maximum Render Quality
I was told that by using Maximum Render Quality, I maintain sharp detail when scaling from large formats to smaller formats, or from high-definition to standard-definition formats as well as maximizes the quality of motion in rendered clips and sequences. It also renders moving assets more sharply. It's my understanding that at maximum quality, rendering takes more time, and uses more RAM than at the default normal quality. I'm running Vista 64 Bit with 8 GIGs of RAM so I'm hoping to take advantage of this feature.
Will this also help to improve better resolution when I finally export my project using Adobe Media Encoder CS4 and post to Blu-ray format?
Does it look like I have the specs to handle Maximum Bit Depth and Maximum Render Quality when creating a new HDV project with the support of the Matrox RTX 2 Hardware capturing in Matrox AVI format? See Below Specs.

Just some details that i find useful on maximum render depth
You really need it even with 8bit source files, when using heavy grading/multiple curves/vignettes. If after grading you see banding, go to sequence > sequence settings from the top menu and check "maximum bit depth (ignore the performance popup), then check again your preview (it will change in a second) to see if banding is still present in 32bit mode. If no banding, you must check it when exporting, if  banding is still there, change your grading, then uncheck it to continue with editing.
Unfortunately Maximum bit depth exporting is extremely time-consuming, but can really SAVE YOUR DAY when facing artifacts after heavy grading, by completely or almost completely eliminating banding and other unwanted color distortions.
Use it only for either small previews or the really final output.
    Best Regards.

  • LCD monitor suggestions...HELP!!!

I have 2 Samsung 910T monitors with my Mac Pro....I want to get 2 widescreen monitors to replace them...I LOVE my color rendition of the Samsungs, they have 1000:1 contrast ratio, and nice brightness....370...My prints look EXACTLY as they do on my monitors...so I am reluctant to change. So I was looking at the Samsung 244T 24" widescreen LCD's, 1000:1 contrast, 470 brightness....so it looks good spec-wise....The Apple 23", which is not quite as good spec wise (but specs are not everything)..The Dell 2407, which looks almost identical to the Smasung...the Benq 24" which may actually be the EXACT same panel as the Samsung, and then possibly 1 30" instead of 2 24"...The options there are the Apple 30" and the Dell 3007 30"...The Dell can be had for about $1300 which is only a few more than a 23"!!! The question is how is the color, the calibration, and accuracy....What is everyone using?

  • Leopard 10.5.2 problems with external monitor

Since I installed 10.5.2 on my macbook pro I cannot have a external monitor Dell 3007 WFP connected to my laptop when starting the computer. The screen will only show up on my laptop but only my background picture but nothing else so I have to perform each time a forced exit. However if I start my computer with my external computer unplugged the laptop works fine and if I then connect my Dell monitor everything works fine. However the closed lid mechanism is not working either anymore. My computer goes to sleep if you press an external keyboard the Dell screen comes on for few seconds but then goes to sleep again. I never had this problem with leopard 10.5.1. Does anyone known an answer to this problem.

I have exactly the same problem. After 4 hours on the phone over 2 calls to Apple Care, they finally let me know that this is an issue with 10.5.2. They said they are working on a fix that would come out with a future update, and offered the workaround of reinstalling Leopard without 10.5.2 update.
They sent me this link about reinstalling without losing files and settings:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/8177.html
It's very frustrating, and I hope they find a fix for it soon!

    MSI GeForce 7600GS 512MB DDR2, AGP8X
Hey,  Does anybody know the maximum resolution of this graphics card? can it power a 30" Apple cinema display or the Dell 3007  ( 2560 * 1600 )

Hi, I installed the MSI 7600GS - Its working great so far. Having problems with Display Properties / VGA Clock - the settings reset to default after i restart windows? how do i get them to stick.   Thanks
    nice
    about remaining things:
you have change VGA Clock freq. via MSI DOT or via Nvidia panel(e.g. coolbits)? there should be a checkmark "apply this settings at start up"
what drivers version you currently use?
use Driver Cleaner to remove currently drivers,
    reboot.
then download and install latest one from Nvidia: http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp

  • How does iTunes detect move format when purchase

Doh...  I asked previously a question and cant find how to locate the inital request out the the 10's of thousands...  So i'll ask again... Sorry.
How does iTunes determine if your system can handle HD movies when  purchasing?  I ask because I have a highend workstation with high end Quadro 2x dual DVI card with matching high resolution monitors (Dell 3007's).  Itunes prevents me from purchasing/downloading HD movies.  If however I purchase them on my other system (mulitmedia laptop) i can play them on my workstation.  Bit of a pain to be purchasing on one system only to play on another...  Solution will be to put HD's on NAS.
    Any suggestions?
    JP

iTunes is aware of the serial number of each iPhone.  The backups stored in the iTunes area contain serial number information.
You can change the name of her iPhone several ways.  One is on her iPhone in Settings > General > About > Name.
You say "... the receiving end sees my name on their display."  That is because you are listed as the financially responsible party - the bill payer.  Her name would be seen, for example, if she calls another iPhone and the call recipient has her set up as a separate contact from you with just her telephone number.
If you want her name to show up on her phone, in general, perhaps your cellular carrier can do that.

  • Connecting Dell WFP3007 monitor with Lenovo T430s

    Hey guys,
I have a Lenovo ThinkPad T430s with a Nvidia 5200M graphics card and I try to connect that system with my 30" flatscreen with max. resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels (Dell WFP 3007). Unfortunately it is not working, but I thought the Nvidia 5200M would support it. I also have the dockingstation "Mini Dock Plus Series 3" with 2 DVI and 1 VGA port which supports 2 external monitors.
Since my 30" Dell monitor is > 8 years old it only has a DVI dual link output. So I guess I have to try an adapter that converts DVI dual link signal into DisplayPort (for the docking) or mini DisplayPort (for the T430s). Does anyone know if this works out anyhow? Is it important that the adapter is active or passive? Could I use this Apple adapter for my reason >> http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB571Z/A/mini-displayport-to-dual-link-dvi-adapter ?
    Kind regards,

I don't this is the right board to post that kind of question. I suggest to post it under "T400 / T500 and newer T series ThinkPad Laptops". Done
In any case, you say "it is not working" without being more specific. What exactly happens, after you attached the external display and pressed fn-F7?

  • Projector works on Dell Venue Pro 11 tablet?

    Hi there
I am trying to run a director 11.5 windows projector (made on a mac) on Dell Venue 11 Pro tablet (win 8.1/1920x1080/baytrail CPU) and am having problems with "alignment" on the screen. The 1920x1080 movie seems to be loading but fills only about 60% of the screen. You can see the desktop through the other 40%. It appears that the movie (at normal size) has been shifted up by 250 pixels and to the left by 400 pixels and is playing. So you are seeing the desktop through lower "SW" portion of the screen.
This particular movie ran fine on a microsoft surface pro tablet a few months ago (no access to that projector file, I republsihed). Unfortuntately I do not have access to that surface tablet anymore. I am wondering if there is a problem with the integrated graphics hardware and/or the processor in the dell. The venue has the new baytrail processor and integrated intel graphics. The surface pro has an i5 processor.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Made some other windows projectors (on the mac) with the following results and run on the dell venue tablet.
    (1) 1600x900 - similar problem with only part of screen showing
    (2) 1280x720 - projector seems to be working and displaying properly. The projector image is scaled to fill the full 1920 screen width.
I am beginning to think that there is a problem with the intel integrated graphics hardware. I should add that the problem I am having also occured a few months ago when I tested a similar projector with a acer iconia w3 tablet (8 inch screen/windows 8.0/1280x800/atom Z2760 CPU/intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD hardware).
I hope that problem has a solution, hopefully coming as a director 11.6 upgrade and director 12.1 upgrade. I think this combination of cpu and graphics hardware is a going to do pretty good business.

  • Installation problem on Dell P4 machine...

While I was trying to install Solaris 8 to a Dell P4 machine (8100 series), after the "Copyright..." line, the installation process never gets to the section where it should display "Configuring /dev and /devices".
Each time the installation gets to the menu to choose the installation method (Interactive or JumpStart), after running a few more processes, the system displays "Skipping System Dump: No dump device configured" and then the machine reboots. It keeps doing the same thing over and over but I do not see any error message and the screen clears rigth away when it reboots.
    Any help would be appreciated.

This case is similar to the case handled by Jurgen Keil on Digest Number 385 except that my case, it has a different error message.
At the prompt "Select type of installation" (or the prompt
"Select (b)oot or (i)nterpreter:", I type the command "b kadb -d". I see a General Protection Fault and some messages which cause the system to reboot. But I can't capture all the errors/messages cuz there's no system dump device configured.
How do I configured the system dump device so I can send you more details?
    Thank you.
