DELL A920 inkjet printer has a blinking power light

Hi!
I have a A920 printer that I think seems to suffer from some hardware problem.
The printer software reports that there's a communication problem.
The printer it self is trying to tell me something with its blinking powerlight, but I can't figure it out.
When I open the printer-lid, it should center the ink-wagon for inspection or ink-refill.
Well... it doesn't.
When I power on the printer (with the lid open), there's a buzz from some small el-motor inside for about 3-4 sec's - then the power-light starts blinking - in regular pattern - aprox 2 blinks pr sec. .
When I turn it off, the ink-wagon moves a small distance to the left, halts and returns to its parkingslot. This indicates that the printers internal controls are working to some extent.
I have tried all the tips I found on Dells WEB - everything from disconnect/reconnect USB to delete printer object and let XP re-find it. And that is kind'a strange - all the time the software reports "connection problems".

Hi Rserio,
Thank you for reaching out to us. The issue can be caused either with printer board or the cartridges. - - You can try removing the cartridges and see if the printer light still blinks. if not then change the cartridges which should ideally fix the issue.
If the issue still persists then please remove the power cable and restart the printer by plugging it back in.
Even after this if the issue persists then looks like an issue with printer board for which printer needs to be replaced. However, this printer is obsolete and you can buy a new printer accordingly.
Hope this information helps. Please reach out if you have any other concerns.

  • WRT54GS v1.0 Firmware needed, Blinking Power Light

No download available and none available via Linksys Live Chat or FTP and having spent the best part of the week trying to find relevant firmware on other forums I decided to come here to get answers to the following questions, hopefully from version 1.0 experienced owners or not.
#1. Can the firmware of version 2.0 and 3.0 be reduced to flash version 1.0?
#2. When diagnosing the blinking power light issue by connecting directly to the router and the network card using "ping -t 192.168.1.xxx" which network address do I use, 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.2 to 2xx?
I get a reply using 192.168.1.1 but I'm not sure that helps when using the TFTP Utility if it's the wrong address on my Laptop to ping?
Anyway I'm stuffed without the right firmware anyway so I need your help with that first please, anyone with UNBRICKING knowledge.
    All Help Much Appreciated

Thanks Stephanie67, below is what I found. It appears to be the correct firmware by the description anyway. Do you know if this firmware is loaded the same way via the web interface like the firmware provided by Linksys?

  • Shuffle has constant blinking orange light when connected to computer

The shuffle constantly has a blinking orange light when connected to the computer. Itunes and the computer recognizes the ipod. I am getting the error, "The device 'Generic volume' cannot be stopped right now. Try stopping the device again later' when I try to eject the ipod. I have tried to restore the ipod and downloading itunes again and it doesn't work. Please help.

I received an ipod shuffle for Christmas and am having the same problem. When I try to eject it (from either itunes or from "Safely Remove hardware" on Windows, i am told that there is another application trying to use the hardware with similar messages to those above.
It even manages to freeze my computer on Shut Down and on Startup if i leave it connected, and only when I disconnect it does the computer start.
i too would appreciate any help in resolving this.

  • Airport Utility cannot find Time Capsule and has a blinking amber light

I have a wireless router for my Wifi set up through AT&T (2WIRE). I am trying to add my TC to my existing network rather than establishing a new Wifi network with it. When I try to plug in my TC to set it up, Airport Utility cannot even find it. My TC has a blinking amber light also. I have tried reseting my TC, resetting my router, unplugging my router, unplugging my TC... I have the latest version of Air Port utility (6.2 (620.33)).

Connect the TC LAN port to the computer by ethernet.
If necessary do a reset of the TC so it shows up.
Put the TC into bridge mode.
Go to the wireless page, and set wireless to off.
Update the TC.. disconnect from the PC and plug WAN port to LAN port of the 2wire with ethernet.
The TC will now exist as a client in your network without creating a second wireless network.
You should also be able to access the TC via the airport utility.
I do think you should use the TC wireless since the 2wire does not provide a signal at 5ghz which is much faster than 2.4ghz.
So I do suggest you in fact do use the wireless but it is up to you.
It makes no difference having two wireless networks if they both connect back to the same router.
Do not use the "Join a wireless network" method.. ie no cable between the TC and 2wire.. that is poorest possible setup.

  • Wireless TV connect blinking power light

I have a Wireless TV Connect.  Recently the TV adapter shows a blinking POWER light.  I know the LINK light will blink as it searches for the PC adapter.  However, this is the power light.  The LINK light for the TV adapter is always off.  I didn't see any explanation of a blinking power light in the Quick Setup guide.  What does a blinking power light for the TV adapter mean?

Read the technical support pages for your router model. There is an article on the blinking power light somewhere. It describes in detail how to load a new firmware to the router using tftp. Try this procedure.
If it fails try to do what I have posted here.

  • Blinking power light and display

I have an Officejet 6500 all-in-one printer for several years now.  Only recently the power light and the display both start blinking about 24 or so hours after it's been on and the display asks me to turn it off.  Never did that before, and I never or rarely turn the printer off.
Could lightning have caused this?  I live in Illinois and we get lots of lightning in the spring time.  Otherwise the printer/scanner work as expected.

    Hey Ancient-Dragon,
It is possible that a power related issue has developed in this Officejet 6500.  Lightning might have been the cause, but these printers have a built in surge protector to help against electrical strikes.  I would like to help with your issue, but I will need to know exactly which model of the Officejet 6500 you have.  HP has released both the Officejet 6500 (E709) series and the Officejet 6500a (E710) series printers.  Which of these 2 do you have?
I ask, because one of the main steps for fixing your issue will be to reset this printer back to factory defaults.  The steps are different depending on which of these 2 printer series you have.

  • Blinking power light

My Mac Pro 1.1 would not start, the power light would blink continuously. I read a previous post about reseating ram which I did without any change. I read on another forum that the blinking power is due a start up ram check that has found a problem so I removed all the modules (2gb x 8) and restarted with one module at a time and the next to last of course was the one that created the blinking light. It has been going bad for some time in retrospect since the Mac is faster with 12 gb than it was with 16. The module has a lifetime warrenty, will see how good the vendor is. NParr

All OK after replacing the bad RAM. The vendor was very helpful (OWC). np

  • SERVER PROLIANT DL380 G5 Blinking Power Lights

Was hoping someone could help with an issue that has started happening.  We recently updated the UPS backups to our server/phone systems and seem to be having problems when the UPS goes to battery power.  The server crashes and the power light on the back of the server starts to blink (which is not an option on what the lights are supposed to do in the manual).  The fans also seem to go a bit haywire also (rev up, then off).
when on normal power they are green, but when on battery they blink.  I don't think it is a server issue, but possibly the output wave generated by the UPS.  Has anyone come across anything similar?  The UPS (there are 2/one for each power supply on the server) keeps all the other systems up and running (phones/network ports).  The server is the only one that seems to not like the battery power.  Load on each UPS is less than 20% when I unplug the UPS to force it to battery power.

  • IMac G5 blinking power light / won't turn on

When my iMac G5 is hooked up to power, the power light (front bottom right panel) faintly blinks once every 2 seconds or so. The monitor is not on at all, and the computer does not appear to be running (no sounds).
All other devices hooked up to that particular power outlet are working fine, and pressing the power button does nothing. Holding the power button down halts the blinking, but when I let go the blinking resumes.
I have also tried removing all devices attached to the computer, including the keyboard and mouse.
This machine was working fine on friday, but when I came back into work today (monday) the machine was 'off' and nothing I do seems to cause any change.
    Very confused, any help appreciated.

It may be that your Power Supply Unit is failing, look at the suggestions here, try them and if nothing works, call Apple. If you have a Rev A, you may qualify for the Repair Extension Program. (sorry to assume you didn't know about sleep, sometimes very basic things are not known to posters).
Please let me know how you make out,

  • WRT54G v6 blinking power light after update

After performing an update for my WRT54G v6 to version 1.02.6 the power LED blinks fast. DMZ is off.  All the others act normally, on when connected. I have looked in the fourms here, and online, and tried many things, all failed.
Pinging the router works. I always get a response.
I set my network adapter to 10mb half and static IP of 192.168.1.10 with gateway 192.168.1.1
Useing Linksys TFTP always fail with a "No response from server" (fyi: could NOT find that program here, linksys seemed to reorganized there FTP and left out tftp.exe out)
Using Windows "tftp -i 192.168.1.1 code.bin" always returns a "Timeout" within secounds.
    Using OSX "tftp 192.168.1.1 \ binary \ rexmt 1 \ timeout 60 \ trace \ put /Users/djbloo/code.bin" always returns "sent WRQ <file=/User/djbloo/code.bin, mode=octet>"
Using DrayTek Firmware Upgrader on Windows closes after Sent button pressed
Using DrayTek Firmware Upgrader on OSX returns "No response"
Is there something im missing? Am I completly screwed?

Try to hard reset your for 1 minute(not 30 seconds) and see if that gives you a steady power light...
Press and hold the reset button for 1 minute...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 1 minute and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...
Also make sure that your computer is set to obtain IP automatically, disable any firewalls, security softwares on the computer before trying to access the setup page...
If pinging the router works(either with a static ip or automatically) then try to access your router set-up and configure it manually...

  • WRT54G v5 w/blinking power light connected to an iMac

    Hi-
Most of the solutions I've seen related to flashing power lights on the router involve fixes via firmware upgrades off a pc.
I'm on an iMac os 10.6.7. The WRT54 used to work as a wireless modem a couple of years ago. Tonight, it doesn't. power light blinks. Can't access any webpage interface for the thing. Reset, power down, computer restart, cable modem turn off don't change anything.
Is there anything that can be done other than tossing the linksys? If that is the only option, are there wireless routers more suitable for a Mac?
    Thanks
    Ralph

I think your router is not responding.
Connect only the computer to the Ethernet port 1 on the router. Check the IP address on your computer. If you are getting a valid IP address like 192.168.1.xxx then try to ping the IP address of the router 192.168.1.1.
If you get auto configuration IP address like 169.254.x.x then assign a static IP address to the computer ( 192.168.1.10 subnet mask 255.255.255.0 and gateway 192.168.1.1 ) . Try to ping the IP address of the router and see if you get replies.
If you are not getting replies from the router then I think you will need a new router.

  • 23" Display with MacBook Pro -- Blinking Power Light

All my equipment is new -- just bought it and hooked it up yesterday.
The 23" Cinema HD display is my main monitor, with the laptop's display extending the desktop from the 23" cinema display. The front-panel power light on the cinema display is blinking short-short-short, which supposedly means it's not getting a proper video source/resolution.
Display System Preferences indicate a 1920x1200 resolution on the main display and a 1440x900 on the laptop display.
I'd like to get the power light to stop blinking, but can't figure out how. Any ideas?

Yes, all three cables are plugged in. The DVI connection, the USB, and the Firewire. - Interestingly, I was moving the machine around and unplugged the monitor power cable while the computer was asleep - then when I plugged the power cord back in, the computer woke up - monitor is now recognized and I have the options group. Go figure. So I suppose everyone can try this and see if it works. No more flashing lights.
