Dell Axim X5 Pocket PC compatibility with Belkin 802.11b PDA card

Hello,
I was recently given a Dell Axim X5 Pocket PC and I'm trying to sync it to my IMAC using my internet connection. I'm running OS X 10.3. Dell's website stipulates that the compact flash card that I need is an 802.11b model. I purchased a Belkin 802.11b Wireless PDA Network Card to satisfy this stipulation, but upon investigation of the software I find that I need to be running at least Windows 98 with Window CE embedded. Is there anyway of me getting around this with my MAC???? To further complicate matters, when I attach the pocket pc to my USB port it isn't even recognized. Is this because it's a Windows device??? Is there any work-around for this?????
Thanks

Prakash,
Thanks for contacting National Instruments.  According to hp's website, the 2490 does have a type II slot.  Also, if you look at the datasheet for the CF-6004 it states that it is a Type II card.  Let us know if you have anymore questions.

  • Stuck with a 802.11b/g router?

I have a MI424WR (Rev E) router with a 50/25 plan. This router only supports the 802.11b/g networking standards, which of course, has a theoretical wireless speed of 54Mbps, but in actuality doesn't get anywhere near those numbers due to overhead. Therefore, I'm paying for speeds I can't wirelessly obtain. I've found my way around the issue by connecting to a 2nd router which supports 802.11n, but I'm not really sure why I should have to do this. Why has Verizon supplied me with such old technology? I did some research and found this particular router began production around 2008. Is this a ploy to get people to spend more for faster speeds, or buy the "advanced" router for $100, or should I have been given a newer model modem which actually does support 802.11n?
I tried to do a chat with support, but he just wanted me to go through some pointless troubleshooting steps. I got frustrated trying to explain that my issue is hardware limitations, not router settings and ended the chat.

Verizon bases the fact that the wired portion of the router supports your service. They still will not guarantee wireless speed so the wireless portion of the router is a just an extra feature.  Turn off your router and call in saying it doesn't work. They will send you another one and chances are hight that it might be a gen 3. Even if it is a gen 3 they still will not guarantee you wireless.
Keep in mind that doing this *might* invoke a router rental fee or replacement charge on the bill, if Verizon is still doing that. He may be just be better off buying another cheap router with Wireless N or AC and either setting it up as an AP/Switch, or making the ActionTec into a backup router and take it out of the picture entirely.

  • Would AX be incompatible, even for AirTunes, with a 802.11b AC?

My main router at home is a Netgear WGT624. From reading the discussions (and the user guide) I've learned that AX cannot extend my wireless network because the WGT624 doesn't support WDS.
OK, I thought, then I'll run an Ethernet cable from the Netgear router to my old iBook. It has a 802.11b original AC installed. I'll set it up as a base station. And then I'll connect the AX to that in client mode so I can at least have AirTunes.
Well, the iBook is putting out a very nice signal. But AX can't connect. Flashing amber. So is this what the AX User Guide means when it says "If your computer has +an Airport Extreme Card installed+ you can use AirTunes" (p. 18)?
And, does this mean that if I bought a refurbished 802.11g AC and put it into my other spare machine, a later eMac that takes the g card, that I could turn that into a base station and finally have AirTunes? In fact, wouldn't it mean I could extend the wireless network because the Extreme card supports WDS?
(Or should I just replace my Netgear with another AX?)

From reading the discussions (and the user guide) I've learned that AX cannot extend my wireless network because the WGT624 doesn't support WDS.
The AX can not wirelessly extend the Netgear's network but the AX can still join the Netgear's network as a wireless client. Then the AX's music streaming and printing services will be available to anyone connected to the Netgear (via wireless or Ethernet).

  • Iphone 6 compatibility with belkin car charges and cables

    Hey
upon reading stories of certain car charges not working with the iphone 6 i want to find out if either of these 2 car charges and cables from belkin will charge my iphone 6.
In theory the 12v 2.4amp charger should charge my phone up faster than the rest however the iphone 6 is not listed in compatible devices, strangely neither is it listed on the 10w 2.1amp version of this product.
Am i missing some sort of trick here? the only thing i can think of is that the iphone 6 has a list of compatible devices or (certified) and will not allow connection with either of these belkin devices.
    here is the 12v 2.4 charger http://www.belkin.com/uk/F8J121-Belkin/p/P-F8J121/
    Here is the 10w 2.1amp charger http://www.belkin.com/uk/F8J078/p/P-F8J078/
What exactly is the problem with using either of these? isnt it the same lightening connection as the iphone 5?

Belkin probably just hasn't updated the page yet. Give them a call or contact their customer support. Note that the maximum current an iPhone will draw from a USB adapter is 1 amp (5 watts) whether the adapter can supply 1 amp, 2 amps, or 100 amps. So it won't charge any faster than a 1 amp adapter. An iPad can use up to 2.1 amps.

    i can't connect my iphone - with error 0xE8000025

    HELP!

Jose, after seeing your note, I decided to simply restart my iPhone one more time, and - surprise! - it finally connected. I had tried restarting it several times before without success, but maybe this time I simply restarted it without doing a dozen other things at the same time. Anyway, thanks!

  • MSI R4870-T2D512 compatibility with crossfire and a current card

I own the factory overclocked version of the stand r4870.  I was interested in purchasing another and setting up crossfire mode.  The same card is being sold for %50 more than what I originally paid.  Talk about a rip-off.
If I wanted to buy a more current model, will it crossfire with my MSI R4870-T2D512?
If I buy a 1gb version of a new card, will it only use 512megs since the older card only has 512?  If possible, what would be the equivalent to the old MSI R4870-T2D512.
Do I have to buy an MSI card or can I buy HIS, or some other brand?

Thanks for the combo chart.  That answered question 1.  I noticed that the dotted intersections are the "recommended graphics combination for compatibility"  That limits me to a 4870 or a 4870x2.  What happens when you are using a card that is not the recommended?

will the K7N2G-ILSR work with the new SATA WD 74G Raptors? Also will this board support the 300G Diamond Max or the Hitachi 400G PATA OR SATA? also would like to know if anyone used a 9800 AIW or the new X800 XT AIW on this board. would appreciate the input before I purchase. Sorry guys I didnt explain that I am a "techie" (my fault) and yes the Pwr supply is a no brainer for the AIW alone, a cool master 500 watt is already on the list as well as plextor newest dvd dual layer, an upgrade to one gig o ram, and a barton core 333fsb 3000+ xp. I am just looking for actual "hands on" testing of the hardware on this board. I have already done the research on the specs and what should work but for someone to already have experienced it first hand and report thier findings would be a great plus. and yes I have the most current bios from MSI (2.0)

  • Belkin 802.11g PCI Card

Thought I'd let y'all know that I popped a Belkin High-Speed Mode Wireless G Desktop Network Card (F5D7001) into my 466DA. OS 10.3.9 recognized it right away and it seems to surf faster than the old Airport card. Then I sold the Airport card for more than the cost of the Belkin card. Seems like a pain-free way to get some more speed online.

that's awesome! the belkin card, does it use its own drivers or does it use the built-in airport driver?
too bad i don't have a airport card

  • Are they compatable with a QuickSilver...

Is the new Airport Extreme compatable with my Poweer PC G4 QuickSilver 733 MHz Mac?

The Power Mac G4 Quicksilver is compatible with the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn), but it is only compatible with the 802.11b AirPort card so you will not be able to take full advantage of the AEBSn's "g" or "n" speeds.

  • Which Jeode for Dell Axim

www.handango.com shows 2 Jeode products that I think might work on my Dell Axim. Do I go with 02/20/03 Pocket PC 2002 Jeode ("newer is better") or 11/27/02 Dell Axim X5 Jeode ("better because it targets my Dell Axim")? Does "Dell Axim Jeode" provide Axim-specific advantages over the other (newer) product?

I purchased the "esmertec Jeode Java Virtual Machine for Dell Axim X5" at the Handango site (allowing me to download the file jeodeforpocketpc_bld1131.exe shown below). FWIW, I used winzip on the original file, extracting the other files shown below. When I ran the original exe file, it employed MS ActiveSync to deploy Jeode to my Dell Axim. If anyone who has purchased the "esmertec Jeode Java Virtual Machine for Microsoft Pocket PC 2002" would care to post a similar listing for that product, I would appreciate the opportunity to compare the two to see if they are actually identical.

  • LVBtw not found on PDA Dell Axim X51

    Aloha!
I am developing software to communicate with a portable instrument. The software runs on a PDA, and I am using LabView for PDA (8.01). I currently have 3 diffferent PDAs for testing purposes:
    - Dell Axim X30 with windows mobile 2003 2nd edition
    - Dell Axim X51 with windows mobile 5.0
    - HP iPAQ hx2490b with windows mobile 5.0
My program communicates with the instrument over a bluetooth connection. I now have the following behavior on the 3 different PDAs:
    - HP iPAQ: everything works
    - Dell Axim X30: program starts, communicates with the instrument, crashes (earlier versions of the program still run though, I must have done something that this specific PDA doesn't like)
    - Dell Axim X51: when I want to start the program, a dialog pops up telling my that this program is not digitally signed and do I really want to continue? If I tell windows to continue, I get the error message "LVBtw.dll not found", and the program crashes.
Can anybody give me a hint as to what is going wrong on the Axim X51? I have both my .exe and the LVBtw.dll stored on the SD card of the PDAs, in the same directory. On the X51 I also tried installing it in the program files directory, to no avail.
    cheers

    Hi Martin:
I am recently working on a LABVIEW project on PDA via Bluetooth communication. I used Dell last week and it doesn't work. I thx for your message post to change the PDA to iPAQ. However, I still cannot detect signals from a bluetooth device, that is a Bluetooth pulse oximetry. I want to know some details of your project, which bluetooth device u used in your project? Can it really detect signal in iPAQ?
       Thx.

  • IBook G4 WPA compatibility with Actiontec Modem Router

Installed Actiontec modem/router on my XP desktop, and enabled WPA encryption for wireless security. Strong signal on both the desktop and iPod Touch. However, my iBookG4 won't pick up signal unless I disable WPA security option. It should be compatible with WPA... Any options other than creating a WEP 26-digit key?

  • Directory Structure / Shortcut string... Dell Axim (Pocket PC 2002)

    Hi all,
I've been experimenting with Jeode on the Dell Axim- I'm particularly interested in running an application from the "Built-In Storage" folder, which persists even with main battery, and the backup battery removed.
If I run the application from a folder located in the "My Device" root as follows:
    /myApp/mpApp.jar
    /myApp/mpAppLauncher.lnk
with the content of the shortcut set to:
    18#"\windows\evm.exe" -Djeode.evm.console.local.keep=TRUE -cp /myApp/myApp.jar myPackage.MyClass
    - it executes perfectly.
However, if I wish to locate the application and data in the "Built-In Storage" folder, I run into problems, apparently because of the character space in the folder name, which, even when replaced with a "%20"
    18#"\windows\evm.exe" -Djeode.evm.console.local.keep=TRUE -cp /Built-In%20Storage/myApp/myApp.jar myPackage.MyClass
I get a ClassNotFoundError.. has anyone got any advice?
    thanks,
    Fergus.

Do you know how to copy files from your pocket pc to the desktop
    using Windows Filesystem.
I've tried to read a file like this
    FileInputStream fis = new FileInputStream("\\PCNAME\SHARED_FOLDER\FILE.EXT");
But If the PCNAME is the PC that has the CRADLE, I always get a System MEssage
telling me as if i was trying to access that shared folder on the pocket pc...
so i guess i can only do that over the network but on other pcs.
Is there a way to copy files to the PC with ActiveSync without having to write
Client/Server Apps on both PCs and Pocket PCs? or is there a place where activesync
protocol is explained, since i believe activesync is a client/server app on both ends
that we could reuse to copy files from and to the Pocket PC and PC

  • Bluetooth connection problems with Dell Axim x51v

I have a Dell Axim x51v and it has Windows Mobile v5.0 on it. I am trying to connect the Axim to my MacBook via Bluetooth, but am experiencing the problem where the devices get paired, but are not connected. Infact, when I add the device, they get connected for about 10 seconds, then they disconnect and remain this way. I do have my MacBook firewall turned off and I enabled Bluetooth sharing. Can anyone help with this?

Does anyone know how to sync a Dell Axim that's running Windows Mobile v5.0 to a MacBook that's running Leopeard? I tried doing this with Bluetooth and USB via an application called "The Missing Sync" from MarkSpace and neither of them seem to work. Please help with this if anyone knows how to do it.
