Dell crt-monitor compability

hi there!
i´d like to buy a powermac G5... but will it run with my CRT-monitor dell M 992 (VGA-port)??
do i need drivers an where can i get them?
greetings,
askal

It will work; all new Power Macs come with a DVI-VGA adapter, and you won't need a driver for your monitor.

  • CRT monitor to add on

I have a flat scrn and now an additional CRT monitor to add on to my G5 to have a larger desktop to work with. Where do I start? How do I know if an ADC-VGA adaptor will work? And how do I set it up ?
    Thanks,
    Ed

Hello! It should work by just hooking the cable up to the monitor using the dvi to vga adapter. Open the system prefs and click on displays and then arrangement and start using it! I've got a 24" Gateway LCD and a 22" Dell running off this old 9200 radeon. Tom

  • Dell 2000FP monitor

    Hi,
Our lab recently purchased a Dell Precision 650 workstation along with
a Dell 2000FP LCD monitor. We installed our DAQ boards, a PCI-6733
and a PCI-6120, and everything seemed happy. The PCI-6733 is
connected to our rack by the CA-1000, and the PCI-6120 is connected by
    a BNC-2110.
We were testing the setup and noticed that there was a DC offset of
about 50 mV when monitoring channel 0 of the PCI-6733 on a scope. The
offset was present on all the output channels. No LabVIEW programs
were running and no signals were being sent. After trying a few
things, we turned off the monitor, and the offset disappeared.
We then tried to plug the monitor into a different outlet. We tried
using the RGB connection of the monitor. We tried using the DVI
    c
onnection of the monitor. We tried changing the position of the
monitor. Nothing worked and the offset remained. We were also able
to reproduce this offset by using our old DAQ computers with different
DAQ boards and different graphics cards along with the LCD monitor.
We then connected our old CRT monitor and the offset disappeared.
Has anyone experienced any problems with LCD monitors? Has anyone
experienced similar problems with this particular model, the Dell
2000FP? It's hard to believe that the offset is caused by the monitor
but all of our tests so far have shown that that is indeed the case.
    Thanks in advance,
    Brian
    Solved!

    Brian,
I have never experienced this behavior, and I have definitely used LCD monitors with DAQ systems. Are the video cards that you are using PCI or AGP? If you have only tried PCI video cards, and your motherboard includes an AGP slot, I would suggest seeing if an AGP video card solves the problem. Also, if you move the LCD monitor further away from the PCI-6733, is the offset affected?

  • New dual mac pro using fcp studio doesn't see external crt monitor

I recently invested in a system to re-edit film and set up my system...dual editing up is fine I put my larger dell monitor through the 3870 which is in bay one and the browser comes up on the 2nd monitor connected to the 2600 in bay 2.
The problem is I can't get my EXTERNAL VIDEO out go to the crt monitor...this is connected by svideo that's on the 3870 which my primary monitor is connected to. Under "video playback" there's no option to choose "apple firewire" the only thing on that menu is the "digital cinema desktop preview" and only those choices, the same under my audio/video settings under the "final cut pro" menu. Theres no option I see on here either for mirroring under the playback menu either am I looking in the wrong place?
This appears to be a software issue as I'm not seeing the other options under video playback to even recognize the dv connection to my primary monitor...I've seen commentary in other logs to try deleting preferences but which ones?
The crt monitor is seen under my apple hardware, I can move things in and out of it...only in final cut pro I can't get external monitor on it...and when I choose this cinema choice the picture comes up on my main monitor but only as a still it doesn't seem to allow me to choose "all frames" in any case.
My main concern right now is to get this external monitor to be read by final cut PLEASE HELP thanks!

Got the "apple firewire ntsc" choice to show up even if grayed out and "missing" under "audio/visual" menus by recreating choices in Easy Setup under "final cut pro" MENU thank GOODNESS because I was reading horror stories on here about this under another thread with someone trashing preferences, reinstalling and the works and still not getting it to show up...on my search now for an analog/digital converter up at b&h...find it odd that the s video connector wouldn't show the crt monitor when I put both displays through the 3870...I switched it back to see if it worked again when only the one dell monitor display was there and there it is again mirroring the screen display on my desktop...just can't be seen as an "external monitor" in fcp...couldn't find anything specific in the shane ross threads to this. I'm sad the program doesn't just see the s video connection though the 3870 though my computer does fine and will query up at b&h in regard to what might be affordable as far as a digital/analog converter. It's also weird in itself that when I put the two dell monitors on the one card my computer no longer could see the s video crt connection...makes no sense. Will report in later as to what I discover up at b&h as I'm sure there's a world of people out there using this sony crt monitor still even into the upgrades with computers and software so I imagine therein lies the solution. Thanks again and I'll report in as to what hardware might be suggested for me.

  • CRT Monitor for HD??

I am doing some editing in HD but right now I only have an SD monitor. My IT guy asked if we could use a CRT monitor for veiwing rather than buying an HD monitor. Also if anybody can steer me in a good direction on a what monitors to look into that would help. I'm a little confused about the whole monitor situation. All advice is appreciated.

Computer CRT monitors WILL NOT WORK....not a replacement for an HD Color grading monitor at all.
However...Diffkid steers you right. The Matrox MXO combined with an Apple 23" Cinema Display, or the Dell 2405 will get you that broadcast image you are looking for. For under $2000. Darn cheap in the world of HD.

  • New Mac Mini with Lion Video Problem With Dell E228WFP monitor

Just purchased a new mini Mac 2.3 with Lion pre installed.  I connected to my old Dell E228WFPI monitor via the Mini Display to VGA adapter.  The mini mac worked fine for an hour until I put it to sleep.  It would not rewake.  After rebute the gray screen and apple logo appear with clock, but after clock screen to black and monitor goes to power saver mode.  Took unit to apple store twice and could not resolve problem by changing resolution or other methiods.  Finally, we learned that the system works fine using Belkin HDMI to DVI cable.  This Dell Monitor had DVI connector.  Hope this helps...

How can a computer that's been turned off (and I mean completely OFF) get a network request? Only a sleeping computer should react to such a request. If you're sure you shut down (Apple Menu, Shut Down), then only an internal power supply or logic board problem should cause this. The only way it could be software is if Lion is not shutting down the computer but is instead putting it to sleep. Is it a new Mac Mini? If so, you should have it replaced or repaired.

  • Can I run two Dell 24" monitors with iMac 27" (5750) in portrait mode

Hi there, want to putchase the 5750-based iMac 27", but I have a pair of Dell 24" monitors I want to run with it, preferably both in portrait mode. Is this possible? Or if not, is it possible with some sort of adaptor/external graphics card?
    Thanks kindly for any help:)
    Shawn

    HI Shawn Glibson,
the imac has one video output. a 30 dollar adapter can be used to hook up a DVI display. (mini-display to dv adapter)
But you can add additional displays through a USB to DVI adapter. For instance see2 xtreame uv200 http://www.trittontechnologies.com/index.php/products/usbvideotechnology/see2-xtreme-uv200/ This is a great solution if you want to have another display for websites, office documents. a USB to DVI adapter isn't that great for 3D games.
    I hope that helps

  • Using a second DELL 1704 monitor ?

    Hi,
    I want to add my new Dell 1704 monitor as a second monitor to my mac;
I have purchased the Apple mini dvi adapter cable (how short is that!)
and have a DVI-i to the DVI-i cable into the dell monitor.
Ok, so it seems that the MAc knows its connected, as I can drag pages off the MAc screen
(but it does not show any other screen when I look in the display Preferences page)?
The dell does not display any image, just blank/black ; however when I disconnect the DVI-i cable it goes into screen sleep/test mode, and likewise wakes up when reconnected
(in doing so the mac screen also goes Blue, whilst it has a think)
I DO KNOW that other users on here, use an Imac with this very same DELL 1704 monitor
(nb I have checked it through VGA with my PC ((Grrr)) and it works fine)
Any ideas, why the Dell wont display the images ..?
    thanks.

So what happened when you started up from your Mac OS X installation disc with the Dell display connected?
I could still be the Dell display, since you are using the VGA connector in one case and the DVI connector in another. The VGA port could be working properly, and the DVI port could be faulty. The display probably has a switch for changing between the using the VGA port and the DVI port. Make sure it is set properly. Also, the display probably has an on-screen menu; be sure to check it for anything related to "sleep" mode. It may also have a recessed reset button to put it back to default settings. If so, try pressing it.
You are also not using that DVI cable when connecting with VGA, so it could be defective (or not compatible in some way). Unless you actually see an image on the Dell display momentarily before it goes to sleep, I have no idea what being "recognized" means. Even if a display is turned OFF, if the connection is properly recognized by Mac OS X, the screen should appear in System Preferences Displays pane Arrangement tab. If all the pins are not connecting, but some are, there may be some reaction when you connect them, but not actual recognition. So you could try another DVI cable (DVI-D); even a new cable can be bad. Take the adapter with you if you are buying locally, to makes sure the connector pins match.
The other two connection points are the Mini-DVI adapter and the iMac's port itself. You might try getting a Mini-DVI to VGA adapter, and connecting the Dell display using the VGA port, since the Dell display does work with the PC over it's VGA port.
As I said, you need to do tests to rule out each of the four possible connection points between the iMac and the Dell display.

  • Yoga 2 Pro with external Dell P2414H monitor - Win 8.1 issues

I have a UK model Yoga 2 Pro (Core i7/256GB/8GB). Generally happy with it but I have one weird issue that is annoying me.
The system is fully patched including all Windows updates and latest Lenovo BIOS and drivers.
At work I have a Dell P2414H monitor connected to my Yoga 2 Pro (micro HDMI to HDMI cable into an HDMI to DVI adapter plugged into the monitor's DVI port).
Windows recognises the Dell monitor in display settings. I can extend my desktop onto it. I can run the Cleartype Tuner and tune the laptop screen and Dell cleartype settings independently. All good so far...
In Taskbar and Navigation Properties (right click on the taskbar and select Properties) I expect to see a "Multiple Displays" section on the Taskbar tab with a setting that allows me to extend the taskbar across both screens, as per this link: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows-8/how-connect-multiple-monitors.
However, whatever I try I never see the "Multiple Displays" settings in Taskbar Properties. I have rebooted with the external screen connected and not connected and tried everything else I can think of but all to no avail.
Is anyone else seeing a similar issue with an external monitor connected to their Yoga 2 Pro?

Discovered that if If I make the external monitor my primary screen, not the laptop, then Windows gives me the Multiple Monitor Taskbar settings back. However, I then have screen scaling issues so dialogues and the task bar etc. on the Yoga screen are tiny. Not ideal...

  • Mac Mini I-7 2.0 (server edition) won't work with Dell 2709W monitor via HDMI

I just got a Mac Mini I7 quad 2.0.  It's the server edition with an HDMI port.  I plug my Dell 2709W monitor in and it continously flickers on and off and shows a green screen and the desktop for short intervals.  Can anyone help with this issue.

Does the monitor work OK when connected to another HDMI output device?
Does the Mini HDMI output work OK when connected to another HDMI device?
You have selected the HDMI input on the monitor, right?

  • Connecting Macbook to Dell U2312HM Monitor

I'm interested in connecting the Dell U2312HM monitor to my Macbook OS X Version 10.6.8.
How do I do it? What are the parts that I need to buy?
    Thank you.

That monitor has Displayport and DVI ports.   Not knowing your age of MacBook it is hard to say what connector you can use.
Go to System Profiler and lookup your machine identifier.
It should say something like MacBook 4,1.
For these models, you'll need both the cables linked below from Apple and Staples:
MacBook 1,1 through 4,x and 5,2 use a mini-DVI connector and will not directly connect audio to it.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/M9321G/B/apple-mini-dvi-to-dvi-adapter
    http://www.staples.com/office/supplies/StaplesProductDisplay?storeId=10001&catal ogIdentifier=2&partNumber=972599
For these Macs, use the cable linked to below their machine identifer:
5,1 and 6,1 have mini-Displayport connector but no audio directly over it.
    7,1 has audio over mini-Displayport.
    http://www.cablesforless.com/15-Foot-Mini-DisplayPort-to-HDMI-Cable-P7063.aspx
USB connectivity on the display may not work, unless you can find a cable that includes USB support with the other ports.  Often dual link connectors have USB cable support, and are more expensive.
Note: If you have an Air or Pro, please specify that as the connectors are different for those models.

  • Connect a Professional CRT monitor to iMac

Is there any way to connect a Professional CRT monitor to an iMac? I need to color correct my short film. If a regular monitor won't work what kinds will for accurate color grading?

I'm not sure what a professional CRT is compare to other CRT displays, but if it uses a VGA connection, all you need is a mini-DVI to VGA adapter.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/M9320G/A
I have a 21-inch flat screen CRT attached to my iMac at 1600x1200 resolution. It can go to 1792x1344, but that's a bit too small with the text, and the refresh rate drops to 60 Hz instead of 75 Hz at 1600x1200. You can, of course, choose all the standard resolutions down to 640x480.

  • Why does my Macbook pro 2008 not recognize  my external dell flat monitor(TV)?

    Hello all ,
Its hooked up with a dvi cable from mac dvi port to dell monitor dvi port. My macbook is running mountain lion.
The Monitor light on the front  blinks green and then goes into " power save mode" a black screen.
Thanks for any ideas on how to get this external monitor working.

    Reboot, then try this

I'm really guessing here actually since no one answered your post.
You might find better luck searching on Google "Macbook pro plus Dell monitor" for the most recent information.
The SwitchREsX is supposed to be very capable and enable more resolutions for other monitors besides Apple ones.
I think you can hold option/alt when clicking on Displays in System Preferences for a more complete list of options.
Sorry I can't be of more assistance.

  • Need help connecting Dell U2713HM monitor to MacBook Pro

What is the best way to connect a Dell U2713HM monitor to MacBook Pro OS 10.7.5 to maximize the resolution 2560 x 1440? I was using a VGA adapter on my old Viewsonic monitor that hooked into the Thunderbolt port, I think. When I use my old adapter with the new Dell monitor, it stops my Mac from responding and the monitor says it has no DVI connection. When I unplug the adapter from my Mac, it starts working again.  I'm not very good with all these port options and descriptions so talk real slow, please.

1 Dual Link Digital Visual Interface connectors (DVI-D) with HDCP
    1 DisplayPort 1.2 (DP)
1 High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI)
    1 Video Graphics Array (VGA)
    1 USB 3.0 upstream port
    4 USB 3.0 downstream ports
    Thank you!
