Dell Inspiron E1705 Graphics Driver Problems
Hello,
I have a Dell Inspiron E1705 which I am having major graphics driver problems with playing World of Warcraft. I used to play the game quite a while back and got back into it recently but i had to reset my computer one day and when I downloaded the game again the screen flashed black then gray over and over again and there was nothing I could do to exit this other then manually shutting off the laptop. I had this problem a few years back but somehow the game became compatible. Basically, I am thinking about buying a completely new graphics card for this computer but I am wondering which cards are compatible and if this will fix the problem. The Inspiron had vista on it but i acquired Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit after i had heard that this may fix the problem. I am getting a new computer in three or four months so I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars hoping for less than a hundred. I will post the computer specs below:
Windows 7 Ulitmate 32 bit
2 gigs ram
100gigs rom
I believe the graphics driver is - Intel 945GM Graphics Controller
Thanks,
Matt

That laptop is not going to get the job done with the latest version of WoW. The machine isn't good for anything other than basic Internet browsing and word processing by today's standards so just save up as much money as you can and buy a better laptop in a few months.
I'd clarify - that specific model of E1705. E1705s were available with discrete graphics, those will still make the grade for WoW. (I have an E1705 with discrete graphics.)
E1705s with discrete graphics and E1705s with integrated graphics used different motherboards - no way to upgrade from integrated to discrete. There were some limited discrete-to-discrete upgrade options (such as the 7900GTX from that generation's XPS machines), but these were rarely economical.
*disclaimer* I am not now, nor have I ever been, an employee of Best Buy, Geek Squad, nor of any of their affiliate, parent, or subsidiary companies.

I was having trouble with the GoPro Studio software and GoPro tech support said:
Currently, you run an Intel Q33 Express Chipset using driver version 8.15.10.1930 (dated 9/22/2009). Per Intel's recommendation, the latest version available for your graphics card is 15.12.75.4.64.1930 (dated 10/02/2009).
I tried installing the driver update from Intel, but I keep getting a "failed" message.
Intel said:
I would like to inform you that the system is not able to update the driver since it looks like it already has the latest version available installed. I would recommend you to check with HP if they have a newer driver for this chipset or you may also check if you are using the latest BIOS version.

Hi everyone~just before i start im not a huge programming nerd so youll have to try and keep it simple kay?XD
anyway up until about janurary i was using 123d by autodesk for some designing stuff. One day i got a message while starting the program aying windows has enountered a problem launching this program and will alert me when a solution is avaliable~after talking to autodesk for a bit weve discovered my graphics driver seems to be serverely out of date~ill give you my tech specs~
Lenovo X230T
16GB ram
intel core I5 processor (2.6ghz)
running windows 7 professional~
and driver specs
Display adapter type Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000
Total available graphics memory 1696 MB
Dedicated graphics memory 64 MB
Dedicated system memory 0 MB
Shared system memory 1632 MB
Display adapter driver version 8.15.10.2696
Primary monitor resolution 1366x768
DirectX version DirectX 10
According to my computer it has the latest drivers~but if you look at intels site its not
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=23714&lang=eng&OSVersion=Windows%207...
i contacted intel and they said to try doing a manual install which didnt work, then they said to update lenovo drivers (which i did). and so far nothings working~any ideas?Install the latest driver that you linked to at the Intel site. Then open Device Manager and find "Display adapters" under this their should be "Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000". Right click "Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000" and choose "Properties" a new window will open up. Select the "Driver" tab and check the "Driver Version". The Driver Version should be 10.18.10.3496 the latest as of 4/22/2014. The driver package actually has 2 different version numbers (1) the package version, in this case 15.33.18.64.3496 and (2) the actual driver version, in this case 10.18.10.3496.

Yoga 13 Graphics driver problem -BSOD
I am having a problem getting this frequent "graphic driver stopped responding..." message and a "video_scheduler.." BSOD after that. Something like this:
Steps I did:
Did OKR. Clean driver. Lenovo driver. Windows update intel Driver. Latest Intel HD 4000 from their site. The BIOS version is upto date but I reinstalled again.NO luck. .I tried both Win 8 and 8.1 here. .. I tried all these possibilities..
Did clean windows install from a non-lenovo windows 8 image. Wiped SSD. Windows was fresh, clean and no bloatware. No Luck. Updatet to 8.1 .. did all possibilities again.. no luck.
I called Lenovo Tech. They remote to the laptop and what he did is uninstall all graphics driver and use windows generic driver. He stopped auto windows update (since windows updates the driver). There's no error, but the laptop performance is horribly slow. Scrolling long PDF and websites is wavy and the HDMI port is useless.
Lenovos solution is unacceptable. The laptop is bassically useless.
Are you guys experiencing the same thing too? Do you guys know a solution. I really like the laptop but it is unusable.
BTW, I bought this laptop ~3 weeks as scratch and dent at their lenovo website. I wonder if there is a hardware problem for this.
Also, the wifi sucks.. sighHere's the analysis:

AMD High-Definition Graphics Driver Problem
Hi
Okay so I play a game called "The Sims 4", and if any of you are familiar with it then you know what I am talking about when I say I am testing mods out. I was doing this for a couple hours and came across some bad mods, so I delete them. Well I put a few more mods in my game and went in, everything seemed fine, then got out. When I went to go back in an error message came up saying "No AMD graphics driver is installed, or the AMD driver is not functioning properly. Please install the AMD driver appropriate for your AMD hardware." I then proceeded into my game which did not work. So I came onto this site to update my driver and downloaded the "AMD High-Definition Graphics Driver". There was two options both the same name and same description one was a few megabite larger. After then I restarted my computer tried my game out and it still did not work. I then took out the mods I put into my game right before this all went haywire, and my game worked....BUT VERYYYY LAGGY! I was so frustrated with this that I shut down my computer hoping a miricle would happen next time I turned it on....only to turn it on this morning and that SAME error message came up! SO NOW WHAT? How to I unistall the graphics driver I downloaded (becuase I think its making my game laggy and it did not solve the initial problem.
Any help is appricated! - LulejojoThank you so much indeed,
Could you please take some of your precious time out to really answer these questions below of mine?
Firstly:: I really have run this Utility(amdcleanuputility) to remove all components of the prvious installation of AMD Radeon and Mobile Inte Graphics.
I was propmted that tool will do as it is shown below in the screen shot.
I agreed. Then, it completed. Is 'AMD cleanup utility' recommended by you?
Then, the graphics adapters in the device manager became as follows:
Secondly: I think that it is now the point to reinstall AMD High-Definition Graphics Driver_Software Packaging Numbr(SP55092)_Driver Version 8.882.2.3000.
Thirdly: Moreover, I would be saying that I lost the audio on my System once the (amdcleanuputility) has completed, although its icon is still intact(screen shot below)
Must I need to reinstall IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver_Sp55094_Version6.10.6345.0????
Finally:: in your link about downloading the drivers for my product name. I found Driver-Graphics (5) . However, all what I need is the finall one which is an already-downloaded file with me. Could you please let me know what about the other four graphics drivers???????? -
HP G72-a30EM Intel graphic driver problem
Hello, I am trying to install fresh Windows 7 on HP G72-a30EM laptop, and I encountered a problem while installing Intel graphic driver. If I install it (doesn't matter if the one from HP site or the one from Intel site), computer boots to black screen (turned off), but I can hear Windows 7 login sound. If I don't install it, I can only select two crappy screen resolutions. I have already instaled Intel chipset driver, AMD driver, but nothing seems to work for me. Any help would be appreciated
Hi there ,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, both from other users, HP experts and other support personnel. I understand that you are having trouble with the graphics drivers after a fresh install of Windows 7. I am happy to help with this. You want to install the AMD driver from the HP website as it is for switchable graphics and includes the Intel driver as well in the same package. AMD High-Definition Graphics Driver. Download that version of the driver and save it to your notebook or some external device. Then, I would advise you to completely uninstall the Intel Graphics driver and the AMD driver as well. Then restart your system, and install the AMD driver from the HP website and see if that works for you. -
MSI 180 - Graphic driver problems
Hi folks,
after cooling down my Mega 180 from 48 degree to 34 degree start-up-termperature (heatsink lapping, turn fans around, build in a fresh air duct for cpu fan) my system is running very stable - what a great lap forward after days full of frustration. Thanks to live update I have the newest bios (rev. 3.5) and drivers for my hardware installed. But I'm still facing some smaller problems, maybe is this forum I can find a hint how to handle that:
1.) TFT-drivers not accepted
I'm using a Hyunday Q17 TFT display and I never had any problems with my old system to identify this correctly. But with my MSI 180 XP installed 5 (!) default displays and will not accept the correct monitor driver I have. When I try to delete 4 of this 5 from the control panel XP re-installs them during the next boot-process. My question is: why 5 displays and why just default displays??
2.) Flickering and coloured stripes after booting
Sometimes, when Windows is alreday started, the display changes from the "Welcome"-Screen to some colourfull stripes and seems to be frozen. After hibernating and re-starting everything is o.k.again. Diver bug ?
3.) Black screen
When entering the windows desktop, the screens turn black for 1-2- seconds, then again it show the desktop, then again 1-2 seconds black. It looks like the driver tries out various video modes. But I don't know why ???
Conclusion is, that there seems to be a bug in my graphics driver. I tried to load the newest once via Live Update, then again directly from Nvidia website, but nothing changed. Any ideas about that ???
Any hints for me ?? Thankx in advance
FloThank you for your reply. I think, i should try to describe my problem more clearer :o)
I'll check later, when I'm back home, in Nvidia driver are installed properly. I just checked, if there is a question mark somewhere in system control panel resource overview. But everything looks fine.
The flickering is a little bit more tricky: When starting the PC instead of my windows desktop a colorfull page of thousands of colourfull stripes appears and flickers like a rainbow. Windows is definitively running, I can can use all keyboard short cuts e.g.. It is not the type of flickering when running under low frequency. Maybe this, comnined with 2 seconds black display, is part of the famous "black display" issue.
My last machine was able to identify my TFT correctly as a Hyundai Q17. But at that machine it was connected by DVI, not the analog connection. Maybe that is my problem. I'm still looking for a small graphics adapter with digital out (nothing special, I'm really happy with the onboard graphic controller, I'm not a gamer), I'm afraid my old fullsize FX5200 might be too large for the Mega. -
Graphic driver problems ?
Hello to all you courageous out there. Ready to read this ?
Here's my little story of my problem:
One year ago I bought a superb macbook pro 15" (early 2008), unfortunately I quickly noticed some problem with the display.
This is how what it looked like (activate the HQ mode to better see the problem):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-0dCONX6FY
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsak8n_P6ZY
Description : vertical objects are torn apart when panning horizontally
The symptoms appears right after start up, even when the mac is not warmed up yet. It happens during internet navigation when scrolling horizontally, also during youtube videos (or flash files), and all application using accelerated hardware. Graphic performance is not affected, but the results is ugly and realism takes a hit.
I have tried the following :
Clean install of leopard
Reset PRAM
Apple hardware test
Updated to 10.5.6
The problem is missing on my iMac (ATI Radeon 2400HD) or on Windows PCs : the display is clean.
I posted this issue in different forums and I received two interesting answers :
- My problem could be linked to the famous problem of faulty nvidia chips (Geforce 8600m GT)
- A developer of Aspyr told me that it could be a serious problem of vertical synchronization, probably du to not optimized drivers
Indeed, it's look like a strong tearing effect. Normally, the "vsync" option in games solves these types of problems, but it consumes a lot of FPS and this option is not available on OS X, or doesn't works with most games (DOOM 3 engine, Quake IV, Colin Mcrae Rally, UT2004 etc...). To have small problem of synchronization with frames is normal, but in my case, the magnitude is abnormally high.
I decided finally to go see a service center and presented my problem to a technician, who agreed to my problem. He thought that I had a faulty video memory and change the mother board. But the problem continued. He then changed the screen and the hard disk without success.
The technician then contacted Apple, and sent them a video of the problem.
After 4 weeks I'v got my mac back and was told that Apple will contact me directly and that the issue will be solved with a future update of OS X.
Apple remained vague about the solution and didn't contact me directly. I'm for sure not the only one who has this issue but so far I have not read anything about it on the internet. In view of the hight cost of a macbook pro, I would expect a clean display.
Any ideas ?Hi,
Unfortunaly, Mac OS 10.5.7 update didn't solve the problem. I decided to install windows to see it's a driver problem.
I have exactly the same problem on :
- Windows Xp 32 bit
- Windows Vista 64 bit
- Windows 7 RC 64 bit
It was tested with Apple nvidia drivers (BC 2.1) and nvidia updated drivers (from nvidia website).
Here how it look likes (enable HQ !) :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qfVgcu3TMks (doom 3 demo under Mac or PC)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmlKNg79nQM (Mac OS)
I haven't this screen tearing on my windows PC or on my iMac (ATI).
I'v tested the graphic memory of my 8600M GT and no errors were detected and the graphic card performance seems fine (7800 pts with 3Dmark benchmar 05).
Same problem with an external screen.
Is this normal ? if it's not the drivers, graphic card, or the screen, what can it be ?
Best regards, -
Hi,
This is a brand new Dell, which has Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit installed, and I re-installed all drivers, and did BIOS update as well, but when downloading Network drivers with correct Service Tag and product, I get to the installation screen where it asks to Activate Wireless Key. The Fn + PrtScr does not work, even if I go to PC Settings, Bluetooth, I can switch it on with mouse, but when using the Fn + PrtScr it does not switch between On & Off within PC Settings. So I cannot install the Wireless drivers at all, I have to Cancel Installation.
Any suggestions? The Service Tag may be listing the wrong wireless card variant. Please provide the hardware IDs so we can confirm:

Dell Inspiron 530 Graphics Card Issues
Hello Guys,
I recently received a EVGA SC GTX 750 Ti from a friend and decided I would install it in my Inspiron 530. Here is what happens when I disable my integrated graphics using device manager (Windows 7 Ultimate) and plug in VGA through card: The screen starts, and the dell splash screen loads (BIOS) but then the screen goes black and then the system beeps once.
I proceeded to believe the card was DOA, I tested it in a friend's Inspiron 570 with the same PSU and it booted into Windows.
This tells me that my PC has adequate power and the card is not DOA.
The only difference is that his PC is PCI 2.0 while mine is the primitive Gen 1.0.
This shouldn't be a difference however, because they are all backwards compatible. So could this be a BIOS issue or what?
Please give your suggestions.
ThanksI am running an Inspiron 530 with an Asus Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB DDR5 graphics card. No problems at all here The card works great, I am very pleased. I would recommend upgrading the power supply to at least 400w for the card. The Corsair PS that I am using works very well, and is modular.
You say you are running Core 2 Quad, so I am guessing you have the 03 motherboard, and not the 02 that I have. My board only accepts a Core 2 Duo. I am running a Core 2 e8500 3.3Ghz.
How much RAM do you have? I would recommend 8GB of good RAM for the 530. I have 8GB Corsair RAM and it works very good, even for DDR2.
I recommend the following:
1. Unplug the graphics card and all other cards from the motherboard.
2. Update to the latest BIOS for your motherboard. Revert back to factory BIOS settings after you update, and tweak your BIOS from there to make sure everything is configured properly to use a graphics card.
3. Plug the card in and try again. Upgrade to the latest Nvidia drivers.
4. Try the card on a different computer. The card may be your problem.

Please start by updating NVLDDMKM.sys driver. You can also report that to NVIDIA Technical Support.
If this does not help, proceed like that:

Bootcamp Graphics Driver problems "GT 750m". (Late 2013 model)
Hey, i just bought a completely new Macbook 15' late 2013 with the GT 750m.
I have just installed Windows 7 Through Bootcamp, Creating the ISO and downloading the support files onto a USB. I follow the whole bootcamp procedure flawlessly, and install windows, and it even pops up at the end asking me to install the Bootcamp windows software. After a clean install i am confronted with the problem that i don't see my Nvidia GT 750m in windows. I manually open the Bootcamp folder Bootcamp/Drivers/Nvidia/Setup. I try to run the setup but it says it cannot find my hardware. I've tried downloading hewers versions through Nvidias site, but i don't seem to be having any luck with the newer drivers either. I don't start with any Nvidia control panel but only a Intel control panel.
Is this a general problem or is it just me? I assume that the "Discrete" graphic switching is not working in Windows. I have fully updated windows, and tried to "Reinstall/repair via the bootcamp setup" Nothing works.
Hopefully someone will be able to help me.
Regards.
Zachmost others exp the opposite that when not connected to ac the discrete gpu not turning off letting the onboard handle it and as such use less battery

Dell Inspiron 1525 CPU Temp Problems
I noticed that my CPU was reaching critical temp from dmesg | tail and I didn't know why because I wasn't doing anything CPU intensive. I installed lm_sensors and I get this output:
acpitz-virtual-0
Adapter: Virtual device
temp1: +47.0°C (crit = +85.0°C)
coretemp-isa-0000
Adapter: ISA adapter
Core 0: +58.0°C (high = +100.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)
coretemp-isa-0001
Adapter: ISA adapter
Core 1: +58.0°C (high = +100.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)
I have been looking around but I cant find a way to change the high value to something lower (I'm assuming that if I do that the fan will speed up earlier as it barely turns on right now even when the temp is in the 70s and 80s)
Also I just noticed this in dmesg
coretemp coretemp.0: TjMax is assumed as 100 C!
coretemp coretemp.1: TjMax is assumed as 100 C!
I'm not sure what this means but I would like my laptop to run a little cooler...
Thanks in advance!
PS I'm extremely new to arch, but semi-familiar with linuxSee here for instructions on setting up CPU frequency scaling, which you absolutely want on a laptop to save power and keep it cool (you may want to lower the up_threshold down to something like 15 to avoid a performance loss).
There's a few dell packages in the repos and the AUR and one of those might help you control fan speed (you could also check the BIOS).

Graphics driver bug on MacBook Air late 2010
I saw a graphics driver bug on MacBook Air late 2010.
The problem is that some programs that uses graphics card will not display some drop down menu correctly.
For example this will happen on Windows Live messenger and Firefox 4 beta.
Problematic WLM screen shot: http://a-fung.net/files/scr1.png
Correct WLM screen shot: http://a-fung.net/files/scr1_correct.png
Problematic Firefox 4 beta screen shot: http://a-fung.net/files/scr2.png
It does not happen when I ran it in VMWare fusion or other machines. So I am sure this is a graphics driver problem.
Does anyone know how often Apple push driver updates?
Or does anyone know anyway to solve this problem?
BTW, I tried to force-install a later nvidia driver from the official website. The drop down problem goes away but I lose the ability to change screen brightness.Hi Tom,
Thanks for your quick reply. I am not convinced it is a hardware problem. For if I hold the key that is faulty pressed for a few seconds it works, and the also works for a while before it stops working again. This to me seems like it is software based. Is there a secure way to test software vs. hardware e.g. by booting from an external image into a shell only? I do not think I have an image on a usb, is there any online server that I can connect to to try it?
Thanks again

Switchable graphic card problem dell inspiron 5521 15r hd7670m
I have a dell inspiron 5521 15r with 1gb hd7670m dedicated
i installed the drivers they work fine but games give low fps as the seem to be running on intel hd 4000.
plz help i think gpu is not giving any performance .Hi umairrafiq13,
Just to make sure, have you assigned AMD Graphics to the games you play? If not, follow the steps below to enable switchable graphics:
Right click an empty area on the desktop.
Select “ATI Catalyst Control Center” from the context menu that appears.
Click Power and select Switchable Graphics
Choose an application (in your case the games) from the list or browse and select an application and assign the appropriate GPU.
If Switchable graphics is configured properly, please install GPU-Z and check under “Sensors” tab in the application while running the game in the background. It will show you the GPU being used as AMD Graphics.
Note: This 3rd party application is exclusively my suggestion based on the personal research and experience. Usage of this application is purely based on your discretion.
By the way, which is the benchmarking application you are using to check the FPS for the games and what are the games you are benchmarking?

Custom BIOS requested for the MSI GP60 2PE Leopard
Hi, Is it possible to generate a BIOS update, for allowing the notebook to have 32 GB (2x16 GB) SODIMMs. It seems that the Memory Reference Code needs some adjustments to allow this. I got currently the MSI GP60 2PE Leopard (i7-4700HQ • 16 GB DIMM).
