Dell Inspiron won't allow me to authorize my account?

Dell Inspiron won't allow me to authorize my account. There is no buttton that says authorize account. My apple ID goes through, but if I try to listen to my music (not downloaded yet), a pop-up will say I must authorize my computer. I have only authorized two other computers, so that isn't the problem. Please Help?

i did this, no luck yet.

Sounds like you have multiple Apple IDs, which causes a myriad of issues.  Go here to straighten it out.  Be forewarned that it's a pain.

  • Brand new Dell Inspiron won't burn CD's in iTunes

Just bought Dell Inspiron 1501 with a TSSTDVD+RW TS-L632H DVD-CD combo burner, running Windows XP Home. When I insert a blank CD-R, iTunes says it is initializing the burn, then ejects the CD and asks for a blank CD. I burned a CD in Windows Media Player with no difficulty, so it's not hardware. Is iTunes just incompatible with Samsung burners or what? I've tried the Samsung site, they don't even list the "H" model, just D and L. Please, anyone with info pleas respond. Thanks,

I don't think it's your DVD+/-RW drive--I have the same model on my Dell Precision M65 Vista laptop. (And I can burn CDs & DVDs with no problem using iTunes 7.3.1.) My computer is a few months old and I did have to download a firmware update for the drive. You could check the Dell downloads site to see if there is a firmware update for your computer running Windows XP.
Others who can't get CDs to burn using iTunes ver. 7.3.1 have downgraded to ver. 7.2--apparently this version works for some reason. Here's a post about this if you're interested:

  • Transferred Songs Won't Allow me to Authorize

    Hello,
I have another Macbook Pro that I just got, and I was trying to transfer my songs to my new iTunes library from my older Macbook. I succeeded transferring the files from one machine to the other, except whenever I try to play a majority of the purchased songs on my Apple ID account, it asks me to authorize the account. So, I type in password, and I receive an error message saying that I can only authorize 5 computers. I did not exceed the limit. What is the reason for this problem, and how can I fix it?
    Thanks

How many authorizations do you think you have? If you had a computer and the hard drive crashed and you replaced it, the first drive would be one authorization, the new hard drive would count as a second. Any old computers you have authorized but no longer use will still count if you did not deauthorize them while they were still in your possession. (I'm not sure, but I think authorizations may also count for different user accounts on the same computer.)
Is it possible that you have actually met the limit of five? If so, you do have the option once a year (if you have reached the limit of 5) to deauthorize all. You may then start over and authorize current machines. There's a lot of info on authorization here: http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/authorization/

  • I just created a new AppleID account for school and it won't allow me to review my account for iTunes. Which has led me to be unable to install the apps I need for school

I have an iPad Air given to me by my high school. I just created an AppleID account for school usage, but every time I try to install apps a little pop-up comes up. The pop-up tells me to log into my AppleID account and then takes me to iTunes. Since my AppleID account is brand new, my account has not been logged into iTunes before. Another pop-up shows up telling me to "review" my account (asking me to agree to the iTunes/App Store agreement, entering my address, credit card info, billing information). I enter everything but the credit card information because since this is my school iPad I will not be purchasing anything so I clicked none for payment. No matter how many times I complete this form, I can not get pass it and a red sentece comes up telling me to contact iTunes support for assistance.

Have you done as the message tells you and contacted iTunes Support ? If not (these are user-to-user forums) :
    - go to http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ww
    - click on your country's flag
    - click on the Contact Support at the bottom of the left-hand column
    - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page
    - then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • TS3988 On my Windows laptop I updated my Apple ID and changed my pw on my laptop. I forgot my old Apple account pw. My iPhone demands the old login info and won't allow me to delete the old account

I need help managing my Apple account across my Windows laptop, iPhone 4s, and iPad iie. I updated and changed my id and pw because I changed email and forgot my old Apple pw.  Neither my iPhone or iPad recognize the updates.  Both demand the old account info and won't allow deletion of he old account on either device. Without the old id/pw combo, how do I access and update my Apple ID and iClount accounts for my iPhone and iPad?

If the old ID is yours, and if your new ID was created by editing the details of this old ID (rather than being an entirely new ID), go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • Dell Inspiron 15r 5520 FORGOTTEN?!

    Hello,
At some point last year I purchased from a retailer in Romania, this Dell Inspiron 15r 5520 laptop for the not so small price of 3000 lei, local currency, which at today's exchange rate equals $760.
The laptop worked OK-ish and I was pretty happy with it until recently.
You see, I don't use this laptop all the time as I have a workstation at home so I just tend to use it once in a while. I decided to wipe the laptop's memory clean and do a fresh instal of Windows 7 64 bit and all the drivers about 3 weeks ago. Since then, I've been having A LOT OF ISSUES due to the fact that the drivers on this machine ar so old that they don't really work any more with ANY GAME! Mind you, I had not played games on this machine that much before but when I did, I did encounter huge issues with AMD Switchable graphics not working properly and the game ending up running on the blasted Intel HD4000.
Now this is the end of my patience though! I am tired of having to MAKE DO with something I HAVE PAID A LOT OF MONEY FOR just because DELL WON'T BOTHER TO UPDATE THE BLASTED DRIVERS!
I am tired of having issues every tine I try to play a game on this machine, that hardware wise can more than deal with that game. The only game that I am trying to play is EVE Online.
I have tried downloading the latest Intel HD4000 Drivers and AMD Drivers for the AMD 7670M Graphics Card that I have in the machine. I have tried to install them but they didn't work properly because of the way DELL BUILDS AND ISSUES THEIR DRIVERS!
Does DELL HAVE ANY FIX ON THIS? Any indications on how to use the latest drivers without the whole thing crashing? OR DO I JUST THROW THIS OUT THE WINDOW AND GO WITH A MORE SERIOUS MANUFACTURER?
I am serious disappointed with DELLs services and drivers so far.
    Please assist.
    Thank you!

First, you do not have a system with a dedicated video card.  You have a hybrid AMD-Intel MUX-less system - software controlled hybrid video.
The AMD GPU is simply a co-processor - only the Intel GPU has a physical connection to the display panel, so ALL video data, even if it is processed through the AMD GPU, passes through the Intel GPU on its way to the screen.  The Intel GPU will always show active, and primary in the system.
Does the Catalyst Control Panel allow the selection of the AMD GPU?  If it does, the system is working properly (though note that Windows will still see the Intel GPU as primary, as will most diagnostic test  utilities).  Second thing:  not all games support hybrid video, and even among those that do, there are often settings that need to be changed.
Finally, you must temper your expectations of the video chip in the system - it is not a gaming GPU or system of any caliber.  It's now about 3-4 years old, and the GPU wasn't cutting edge even when it was new.  It's a low- to mid-range system with a low- to mid-range GPU for its time.
As for drives, you can source them from Intel and AMD (but note that updating one demands you update the other, as they must work in tandem).  The hardware in the system cannot control the GPUs -- that's done by the software (drivers).
That's the thing. I CANNOT UPDATE THEM AT ALL. And both Intel and AMD pointed out to Dell saying that because of the way Dell delivers the drivers the up to date drivers will NEVER EVER work when I e-mailed them for support.
If I update both drivers, which I have tried FYI, as I HAVE MENTIONED IN MY ORIGINAL POST,  the AMD GPU will NOT WORK ANY MORE.
The CCC allows me to select which GPU gets used for whatever program I want but the problem is that since the drivers haven't been updated by Dell in such a long time, none of the current programs/games know how to use this old system of switching graphics software any more and they take the Intel HD4000 as default whatever you do.
LE: And also, please keep in mind that I'm not expecting to be able to play at MAX Details and things like that. I have no high expectations for this system. But what I do expect is to at least be able to RUN the bloody thing.

  • HT200109 Why do all my other Apple devices not care if the movie I rented from iTunes if it was downloaded directly to that device or not, but the stupid Apple TV won't allow you to play rented movies unless you rented it directly from the Apple TV?

Why do all my other Apple devices not care if the movie I rented from iTunes if it was downloaded directly to that device or not, but the stupid Apple TV won't allow you to play rented movies unless you rented it directly from the Apple TV?
Great, so now I have to airplay it by linking my computer to my Apple TV and then the movie has to buffer! So, all that time I spent downloading the HD video has to technically "download" again by buffering. The more I use Apple TV, the more I feel like this item was not created by Apple. I don't even use it for what I originally purchased it for. If I would have known that anytime I wanted to sync a movie from my computer to Apple TV by using airplay that it would have to buffer the movie, I would have never ever ever ever ever purchased this waste of time device. So the video has to technically play all the way through one time first so Apple TV can "remember" the movie to play it back in real time afterwards.
Am I missing something here? Am I doing something wrong that can be fixing my problem? I should have known that the Apple TV had so many things backwards when simple things like when you are using the remote and you reach the bottom of your list, in order to cycle back to the top of your list you have then press the directional buton back the other way rather than most modern day devices that will automatically cycle you back to the top or to the other side when you reached the bottom or end but keep on pressing the button. That **** annoys me when I am doing a search for a movie and have to type the name in manually and have to cycle back and forth to the letters. It makes me feel like I am using a rotary phone or something!

I was told by someone to try and purchase something directly from my Apple TV and that will help authorize my Apple TV.  So I picked something that was free and it downloaded.
Then I went back to the Movie that would not work and it played just fine.
So it seemed to work.  I will have to try it on other movies and TV shows later.

  • Dreamweaver CS6:  Installation disk won't allow a change in the location of the installation folder

First, I hope the moderators will cut me some slack for making a duplicate posting.  The comments below were posted in the "Creative Suites" community.  I just noticed that there is a "Dreamweaver" community.  I feel the issues I've raised below are more relevant to the latter.
I recently purchased a Dreamweaver CS6 installation disk and have a valid registration code.  The Adobe website has recognized this code as valid.
I started-out  by having the installation disk install into a folder on a high capacity (0.5 tb) external drive.  This was done while my Gateway PC was still working properly.  I did a duplicate installation onto this hard drive (into a separate folder) to accommodate any work I wanted to do on a Dell laptop I also own.  For a few days things seemed to work ok on both computers.  Then the cursor on my Gateway stopped moving.  Several changes of mice failed to resolve the problem.  I've written-off my Gateway as "dead."  However the Dreamweaver CS6 installation MAY (I can't remember) be on a "local" folder on my Gateway and I am concerned I will have trouble installing Dreamweaver on the replacement I've purchased.  I understand one is limited to 2 installations.  If needed, can I purchase a license for a third installation?  And what might that cost?
After turning-off my Gateway I then went to my Dell laptop to try to work with Dreamweaver there.  I felt it was best to install on a "local" folder so I deleted all the Dreamweaver software from the folders on my external drive.  Unfortunately the installation disk is still "pointed" to the folders on my external drive.  To make matters worse I am now getting an error message which indicates I need to install into a folder on the "local" drive of my Dell laptop.  But the installation disk won't allow me to change the path.  On the installation disk the "path" to my external drive is faded-out and it will not allow me to delete and type-in a new path.
I've spent what, to me, are big bucks on this Dreamweaver disk.  It's the only website building software that seemed to get consistently good reviews. However, for me, Dreamweaver is becoming a nightmare!  I'm very much of a novice at website building.  I don't know how, in the world, I will be able to a)  Create something, and then  b)  Get Dreamweaver to put it onto what is now a blank webpage.  I recently got "Dreamweaver CS6 The Missing Manual" and "Dreamweaver CS6 For Dummies."  So far I haven't been able to find anything, in either of these two books, which addresses the issues I've raised here.
    Somebody--please help!!
Don't know if my screen name will show up.  So my name is JACK, near Old Faithfull.

Have you tried calling Adobe Customer service? They can deactivate one of your installations so that you can install and run on a new system. And perhaps they can help with your other problem, or send you to a tech support rep who can.
With regard to your use of DW, I'd strongly suggest that you take advantage of this downtime by learning as much HTML and CSS as you can absorb. Multiple sittings would be helpful. The more you know about those two, the easier DW will be for you when you eventually get it going.

  • StarTech Adapter not working with Dell Inspiron 15, model 3521

Side Note: I wrote a reply to a thread that was from 2013. I do apologize because the link was sent to me by my bf and I did not realize how old it was. Since my reply has to be approved I can't delete it.
Current Issue: StarTech Adapter not working with Dell Inspiron 15 model 3521
I bought my Dell laptop last year and at first I did not realize that it had only one audio jack (combo, as the specifications manual says), I only noticed when I was trying to plug in my Ozone Rage ST headset.
I searched online threads and found out that I needed an adapter and most people mentioned Headset Buddy. I couldn't find any adapters for sale in my country (or employees didn't really know what I was talking about) and since Headset Buddy is a bit expensive, I decided to try StarTech Headset adapter for headsets with separate headphone/microphone plugs - 3.5mm 4 position to 2x 3 position 3.5mm M/F www.amazon.com/.../ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top.
It arrived today and let me tell you that I can't make it work. I can hear everything but I can't get the external mic to work or even be detected. I have always used my headset (mostly for gaming) and I prefer to use my external mic rather than the internal one. First I connected my headphone and mic jacks to the adapter and only after that did I connect it to the laptop combo jack. I also tried vice-versa. It didn't work, regardless of the order. I even tried with a different headset and it still didn't work. What else can I do?
I have also found a thread on Dell forums saying that Headset Buddy doesn't even work on Dell Inspiron 15, model 3521. So since it doesn't work and I'm assuming StarTech doesn't, either, what am I to do/buy?! I am getting extremely frustrated and I'm very disappointed with Dell because the brand should have included with the laptop a proper working adapter for these situations and not make its customers buy an extra accessory to make whatever working gear they already had function. It just doesn't make sense to me! Either make the changes work properly or simply don't touch anything. I spent some of my savings on this laptop which, overall, is great but now I am being forced to spend more on an item to allow me to use my headset. I am running out of options here and even Dell can't seem to tell its customers with 100% certainty what really works for this specific model.
If I can't make the adapter work, I just hope I can return it, otherwise I'll end up with no refund and with a piece of equipment I have no other use for!
    Any thoughts?

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply.
This is the first time I was forced to buy adapters such as these so I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if there's anything else I can do to make it work. When I plug the adapter to my Dell, the laptop presents me with several options such as: headphones, headphone, speakers, skull candy headphones, etc (maybe some may have different names but since I see them in Portuguese, I'm not quite sure how they appear for someone who has the computer in English), I have picked different options and it still doesn't work, the only noticeable changes are sound quality related, I guess.

  • Dell Inspiron 1525 Problems

    Hello.
I just purchased a Dell Inspiron 1525 with Vista Home Premium preinstalled. I wanted to know if there is a way to install a fully working Arch Linux system on it. I tried with 2007.08 CD only to fail at getting the wireless card to work. Dell Inspiron 1525 comes with a Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN Mini Card. I tried installing both the latest vista and xp drivers for this card via ndiswrapper. I thought all was well since I got the message that said that the driver is installed and the device was present. However, when I checked iwconfig, the normal 'wlan0' was not in the list, just 'lo'. Can someone help me with this?
Also, I used a ZenWalk liveCD to test out if I have sound support. It seems like the sound doesn't work either, but that may be because I used an old liveCD. The 1525 comes with a 'SIGMATEL STAC 92XX C-MAJOR HD Audio' or also known as "High Definition Audio 2.0".
I have also learned that although Dell does offer this laptop with Ubuntu installed, they changed the wireless card on the ubuntu version. I don't know if that means anything. Also, I have heard of many who have gotten linux installed on this laptop. I have some experience with linux, but all of that is with a desktop pc. (Used Arch for the longest after trying out Gentoo ^^)
I checked the Ubuntu forums on this matter, and they seem to have a lot of documentation on it, but I am unsure if it will apply to Arch. Does Arch come with the bcm43xx drivers? If it does, then that means I have to blacklist it or something. I really need help.
    - Dennis ^^
PS: Thanks in advance for any help!

Thanks for all of the replies. I downloaded the newest ISO and tried to get it working again. Well, b43 did not really work as I hoped it would, so I went and used ndiswrapper. To my astonishment, it works. Apparantly, something changed from the 2.6.22 to 2.6.24 kernels that made it so that the ndiswrapper module won't be detected with a broadcom card with the 2.6.22 kernel. This is all a guess, but it kinda makes sense. Only one problem though, I did all of the usual steps to set up the wireless connection... and it can't seem to connect to the internet... I did:
    iwconfig wlan0 essid ********
    iwconfig wlan0 mode Managed
    iwconfig wlan0 key restricted **********
    ifconfig wlan0 up
    dhcpcd wlan0
*I have tried this with other network cards, those on my desktop, and they worked fine.
When I do 'iwlist wlan0 scanning' , I detect all the networks that I expected to see, but it doesn't connect to any of them, which I think is really weird.
I don't really care much for vista, but I miss messing around with a decent CLI, and I will be majoring in Computer Science once I get into college, which would definately include classes on Bash scripting, so I wanted to get a linux install on my laptop since my desktop died. I have experience with Ubuntu, Gentoo (Stage 1 and Stage 3 installs.. Stage 1 was a giant pain and failed the first 4 times), ZenWalk, MEPIS, SuSE, Fedora, Arch, and some others. Of all of these, I liked Arch the best. So, I was really hoping I could get it installed.
Well, it seems I will be stuck with vista for a while... but I must say, it's not AS bad as I thought it would... still slow and all though ^^
    @anti-neutrino:
Hello. Dual-booting is tricky stuff in my opinion. I have never done it myself, so I can't really help you there. But, there are plenty of documentation out there on it. According to http://www.goodells.net/dellrestore/mediadirect.htm, DellMediaDirect is installed on a hidden partition. So, I'm guessing that as long as you don't touch that partition, it would still be there. What I think you would have problem with is where to put grub (or lilo). The safest thing to do, I would think, is to place it in a floppy, if you have an external floppy drive, or place grub into a USB Flash drive which you would be able to boot from. I have no idea how to do this in Arch, but I have done it before in SuSE. And as for Vista, as long as you don't touch the vista partition, it should stay the same. The booting is the only problem I can see for you. If the boot loader (grub or lilo) is installed in a separate medium (floppy/USB) then to boot into the linux partition, all you would have to do is boot from the medium, eitherwise, it would boot into Vista (or whatever you have that boots up first) automatically.. that is unless they changed something, and knowing how fast linux is developed, there are a lot of changes, so I'm not really sure if it still works this way.
    @Warper:
I don't really mind the sound right now. If I can get internet to work, I know I can solve all the other problems later, as all I need to do is look up how to solve for it. But, yeah I know sound is muted by default in Arch. It's just that with my desktop, sound was automatically detected by other LiveCD's that I was confused when those same LiveCD's couldn't detect it. Again, this might just be that the LiveCD's use an older kernel.
    - Dennis ^^
PS: I reinstalled vista and wrote this post in it. T_T

  • Won't allow me to play music purchased by an old email address, even though my computer is authorized

I have a ton of music that I purchased when my Mac account had a yahoo email address. I've updated my account to include my current mac address. iTunes won't allow me to play any of the old music, and it asks me to sign in with my yahoo address version of my account - which doesn't exist anymore. So I authorize the current account, and iTunes says I'm already authorized. Still won't allow me to play the music. How can I get all of that music to be a part of my real, current iTunes account??? Thanks

Same thing here. I am getting the authorization message with iPad, 2 iPods and 3 iPhones. I'm furious about this. I reviewed my itunes account info and everything looks accurate. I downloaded a movie this morning and I can't sync it to iPad. Let's see what explanation is offered.

  • DELL Inspiron N5110 does not Shut Down and does not wake up from Sleep

    Hello.
I have Dell Inspiron N5110 which cannot shut down neither in Windows 7 nor in Ubuntu Linux. I specifically booted Ubuntu Live from the CD to eliminate the possibility that  the problem is in the Windows 7. Shutdown in Ubuntu does not work either. This proves that the reason in not a BACKGROUND application in Windows that remains hanging and does not allow the laptop to shut down.
The laptop cannot wake up after Sleep or Hibernate either.
I have tried every solution that you advised to all the other people in the forum that have the same issue.
    1. The laptop cannot shut down in Safe Mode either.
    2. It cannot shut down even after Clean Boot Mode - all non-MS services disabled and all Startups disabled.
    3. I tried changing the Advanced Power Options of "Allow Hybrid Sleep" - both ON for "On AC Power" and "Running on battery" - no change.
    4. I tried installing the latest video drivers for Nvidia. This did not help either.
    5. Running only on battery does not change anything - still cannot shutdown.
    6. Running only on AC adapter without battery - still cannot shutdown.
    7. I tried removing the AC adapter and battery and holding the POWER button for 30 seconds to RESET the laptop - did not work.
ATTENTION: I've been reading your forums all day and saw at least 10-15 reports of the same problem and not a single fixed case.
    8. This is why I have not tried Flashing the BIOS to the latest version - I read other people tried that and it didn't work either.
    9. I loaded BIOS default settings (F9) - still cannot shutdown.
REMARK: Changing something in the BIOS and trying to Exit once caused the laptop to freeze and I had to Power Off by holding the button for longer.
    10. I ran DELL Diagnostics from Boot menu (F12 at startup) - no errors found.
    11. I could not locate IEEE 1394 Adapter in Device Manager to change its Power Management settings.
Actually none of the suggestions you may give for changing something in Windows makes sense because I already mentioned that shut down in Ubuntu does not work either.
The issue seems to be either in the BIOS or a hardware problem. But which component? Is it the CD/DVD drive?
    This is a new laptop.
Please advice how to proceed. If you know which component fails please tell me.

Remove the keyboard and palm rest (guide from dell shows you how) and you should see a small coin cell battery. Remove it for at least 10 seconds, then put it back in. Enter BIOS and make sure there isn't anything weird that was changed. It should work properly now. I have had this working in Ubuntu 12.04 for the last few days, with no problems.

  • DELL Inspiron 17

I need a DELL Inspiron 17 with Windows XP.  Any suggestions?

Microsoft no longer produces Windows XP product keys/ What you find out there is what's left. With that said, I see a lot of people "salvaging" oem Windows XP product keys from recycled and unused computers, which could then be installed on a different computer. Windows 7 Professional is capable of running XP Mode. As NoNoBadDog stated, you're going to be quite hard-pressed to find working drivers for the Inspiron 17 even if you managed to install a working copy of Windows XP. Most of the time, Windows Vista drivers will work for current hardware since Windows 7 and Windows Vista are the same kernel, but any earlier than that then it will be quite a challenge. The Inspiron series is designed to be the budget series so Dell won't be bothering too much with including hardware in there that would be backwards compatible with multiple Windows versions. The Optiplex and Vostro series were designed to be mass produced and licensed to schools and businesses. Also, as Starflyer59 mentioned, I can certainly why a lot of businesses are reluctant to upgrade to current operating systems. My best friend's dad owns an engineering shop and all of their systems run off of an old HP desktop with Windows XP on it. Recently, he put out an inquiry on how much it would be to upgrade his computers and redesign all the software to be compatible with Windows 7 and it came out to almost $30k. For a small business that only pulls $200k-$250k (revenue, not profits) per year, he didn't think it was a good investment at the time.
I DO NOT work for Best Buy. Whatever I post are just educated guesses or common sense.
