Dell Latitude C600

Has anyone had success with the Dell Latitude C600?
This could be a bug in Arch itself but at boot say every 5 boots (this number will vary greatly but happens often enough to be annoying and worrying) it will freeze at the prompt saying something about udev uevents. The freeze will either be it just plain stopping, causing me to have to hold the power button down twice for some reason to reboot or it will turn my whole screen bright white by having it "spread" quickly from a few points.
I have no idea what could be wrong, I don't even know what udev uevents are but this seems to be a problem with Arch and not my laptop because every other distro or os you can think of has worked on it.
Any help is appreciated.

I actually forgot all about this topic. I believe I found the problem though and it's good to know other people get it to, not just me.
This also fixes other prebuilt kernels for other distros.
I found out that most Dell laptops have their own special format for the PCMCIA bus and if a certain something is probed (which udev has been doing) the system will freeze. Anyway as far as I know this fixes it, I'm yet to have any crashes.
In /etc/pcmcia/config.opts for pcmcia-cs there is a range on an include line near the top: 0x800-0x8ff. Just get rid of that range it it should be fixed. If you use pcmciautils in the same general area there are lines and one should have 0x8ff at the end of a range, I can't remember the full range but just comment out the line with that in it.
I got that from http://www.whacked.net/ldl/faq/ which even though it looks to be years and years old still has a lot of useful information in it.
Wouldn't mind some feedback if this worked for any Dell users, seems to have worked for me. Thanks.

I can even launch paint and draw with my finger, but when i install photoshop cc as trial, i can´t draw anything.
What should i do ? Is there any special drivers needed ?
    best regards, Dimitri.

IE favorites sinking with you iDevices.
Today I too noticed favorite links that had previously been deleted reappeared. After finding list thread and reading @Paulio999 reply I did the fallowing
to solve the issue, because I keep all my web browser's, computer's, and device's favorites synced.
Open iCloud control panel on all computer you use iCloud on.
    Under bookmarks-Options, un-check Internet Explorer.
    Click OK button
    Click Apply button
    Close  iCloud control panel
    On one iDevice open Safari.
    Open Bookmarks
    Delete all bookmarks
    Select done
    Close Safari
On your Windows machine under C:\Users\-user name-\Favorites
Delete all the links that are no longer wanted
    Open iCloud control panel
    Under bookmarks-Options, check Internet Explorer.
    Click OK button
    Click Apply button
    Close  iCloud control panel
Your favorites should now reappear on you iDevices and any changes you make from your windows machine to your IE favorites should now work correctly between your devices.
I tested this on two Laptops, one tower, an iPhone5, and an iPad3.

  • How do I install the builtin graphics drivers for my Dell Latitude D620 in Windows 8.1?

Hi, I would like to be guided through the correct driver installation for the in-built integrated graphics driver for my "Dell Latitude D620" Laptop PC which is running Windows 8.1 Pro (32-bit). By default, Windows 8.1 includes ans installs the
"Microsoft Basic Display Adapter driver" to maintain compatibility with the OS. I would like to install the original and genuine graphics driver supplied by Dell Inc. (not by Microsoft) on Win 8.1, how can I achieve this? please
    help.

Yes, Dell will have better answer for this issue
Since this PC quite old, I suggest contact Dell
Based on product spec, your Laptop maybe using 256MB NVIDIA® Quadro NVS 110M TurboCache or
    Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 950 (Up to 224MB shared5)
    http://www.dell.com/us/dfb/p/latitude-d620/pd
there is no driver for Windows 8.1 32 bit
    http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/Product/latitude-d620
This is Windows 8.1 system requirement, I suggest discuss with Dell

  • ITunes has stopped working error message on my Dell Latitude E6520 when trying to sync photos to my iPhone 3GS.  Why?!

For some reason, I keep getting the "iTunes has stopped working" error message on my Dell Latitude E6520 when trying to sync photos to my iPhone 3GS.  I am using Windows 7 on my 64-bit computer.  iTunes will begin to optimize the photos in the folder I have directed it to (I am trying to load almost 3000 photos and videos), and it will go through optimizing all of them singularly, then get to the step where it says "optimizing" again, but does so in bigger groups.  It will get to about 2000, and then the error message "iTunes has stopped working" will pop up, and say that "Windows must close the program and will search for a solution, and if it finds one, it will notify me".  Why can't I sync these photos, and what can I do?  Thanks so much for the help, I really appreciate it!

Same problem here! Moreover, for some reason, the pictures in my iPhone 3GS somehow have been divided into 2 folders, Photos and Medialibrary. And when I open iPhone as a folder through the explorer I can see only the Photos folder, but cannot see the Medialibrary folder which stores the photos taken before updating/upgrading the iPhone and getting separated folders!!! What the hack with all of this?!!! When I connect iPhone to PC it automatically opens iTunes and starts syncronizing it, but at the process of OPTIMIZING the photos (and according to the number of photos it shows, I see that it tries to syncronize that invisible Medialibrary folder) the process suddenly stops and error message pops out Tried the sync test, tried the button DEBUG in that pop out message, but NOTHING HELPS!!! Also, when I open the Medialibrary in my iPhone, the screen get sblack all through scrolling it down, only the video clips are shown there... >.<
So, could you, apple developers, please, explain WHAT THIS PROBLEM IS ABOUT?!!!!!! FIX IT! I am getting ****** of to spend hours at the computer and reading those lame advises which do not help at all! I have my own things to do except reading your support websites. And I payed for the product ready to use, but not a halfproduct which problems should further be solved somehow by users..

  • Dell Latitude E6520 fails to boot after Windows Updates

    Hello,
I have a Dell Latitude E6520 that is not starting up after Windows updates. It installs updates and requests a reboot, after which it blue screens at the splash logo and reboots again. This goes on indefinitely. The only way to repair it is to boot from
    a recovery disk and run:
    dism /image:D:\ /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions
This is after running dism /image:D:\ /get-packages and noticing that several updates are still in an "Install_Pending" state. These are the kb's that are pending:
    kb2982378
    kb2978742
    kb2977629
    kb2976897
    kb2973112
    kb2972211
There were other updates, but those showed as installed. I would post the WindowsUpdate.Log, but I do not see a button to attach a file and the log is very long. Here is what I think is relevant towards the end of the log:

  • I cant download all my iPhone photos onto my Dell Latitude laptop. I get the impression that Apple are trying to force me to buy iCloud space in order for me to do this. If so then I'm done with Apple products. I would rather buy a Samsung in the fut

If you cant read what I've written above then your system is just pathetic. At my age, I don't need to be instructed on "how to write a good question". Why must a brief detailed  technical question be summarized? Why cant I do the supposedly simple task of downloading "all" of my photos from my 64g iPhone 5s onto my Dell Latitude E6410 laptop in one simple press of the button process? Instead my Laptop is always trying to download mega gigabytes of all my laptop photos onto my iPhone. I am now totally convinced that the Apple Corporation has implemented a scheme trying to "force" me, and every other Apple customer, to buy more iCloud storage instead of allowing us the cheaper option of storing our own photos on our own lap tops and our own external hard drives. If this is the case then Apples tactics are back-firing, and I for one, will never buy another complicated, user-unfriendly, rotten capitalistic Apple product again. If there is a simple way of downloading all of my photos onto my laptop in one simple move then why cant it "simply" show you how to do it, like all the other companies smart phones do? From one **** of an irate customer. K.I.S.S. or lose customers. Don't try to rip us off financially, with devious money making schemes, the general public will respond accordingly and you WILL lose market share.

Go buy a Samsung if its suits you better then and don't be rude these are user forums !
Give Google more information about you what you do where you are etc....... TO TARGET adverts at YOU via Android at the same time.
Or whats wrong with the FREE photo stream conduit that over air transfers images to your pc pictures folder (And you don't need to buy any extra storage ever) the images just transfer !
Also what is so difficult with plugging in to a USB socket and having images automatically uploaded/downloaded into your Pictures folder ?
Unless of course your PC USB is a slow 1.1 socket !
True the sync process is all encompassing rather then delta but it does mean true syncing

  • Airport Extreme update to 7.6.3 orphans my Dell Latitude D620

    Anyone else experiencing this?
I dutifully upgraded my Airport Extreme to 7.6.3 from 7.6.1 as instructed by my computer.
This is the latest version of the Airport Extreme - simultaneous dual band, etc. Purchased a few weeks ago.
My Dell Latitude D620 will no longer connect properly to the network.  The "DW WLAN Card Utility" shows that it is sending packets, but not receiving them. The signal strength is strong, as expected and normal.
I've ensured that all updates on the Dell are installed. The hardware is a "Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN Mini-Card", original and internal to the unit. The driver is 5.60.18.9
All other devices (laptops, iphones, Apple TV, etc. - including a more 'modern' Dell laptop) are working fine both before and after the update to 7.6.3.
This worked perfectly prior to the update to 7.6.3. So with considerable trouble, I reverted to 7.6.1, and the laptop could connect again.  Upgrading a second time to 7.6.3 and the problem reappears.
If anyone has any ideas on this before I junk my trusty old Dell laptop, please let me know!

Did anyone ever found a solution to this?
I upgraded Airport Extreme to 7.6.4 and the Dell D620 is having problem connecting.  Sometime it connects but no Internet access.  I have 2 other none Dell laptops and Iphone 4.  They all work with the Airport router.  Just the Dell that having an issue.
Is reverting back to 7.6.1 the only solution?

for Lync 2013.  The faulting module is related to the graphics driver, but reinstalling does nothing, uninstalling and then reinstalling does nothing, it cannot further be upgraded.  This same error affects all the Dell latitude e6520's.  It
also only occurs in Windows 8.1.  The windows 7 image using the exact same driver version (both the outdated driver and latest driver) works just fine with Lync 2013.
Running Lync with administrative permissions does nothing, disabling hardware acceleration did nothing.  None of our laptops come with the bluetooth adapter, and also updated all other drivers such as chipset and soundcard.  Error occurs on the
RTM version of Lync, and Lync with SP1 fully updated.  The rest of Office 2013 works fine.  I am currently at a loss here short of telling the help desk to not image E6520's with Windows 8.1 because Lync 2013 doesn't work on it.  But there has
to be a reason for it.  Calling out for some suggestions here.
    Thanks!

We also have the same issue with Dell E6420 running Windows 8.1. Lync application does not respond after start-up. Did you try looking for the error file under
    C:\users\username\appdata\local\Microsoft\Windows\WER\Reportarchive
it should create file like AppHang_lync.exe_some numbers. search for the latest one.
Interesting, I don't have any 6420's handy but figured the issue would exist on those also.  I looked up the location you mention and see many crash logs for Lync.  Not really sure what the error is, just says it stopped working.

  • Lync 2013 and Dell Latitude 7240 Window 8.1 Problem! Please help SOS

    Hi guys,
Can anyone know the solution for my current problem with Lync is frozen and crashes when I start my video call. I have brand new Dell Latitude 7240 with Window 8.1 and Lync 2013. I have tried so many different suggestion from different forums and update
my Lync as well. However, the problem is still there :(
I have been experiencing this problem for almost 2 months. It would be great to get my Lync works with video call. I tested the camera both internal and external camera as well. They works fine with Skype, ect...But not with Lync
    Thanks in advance!!!

    HI
I have seen 100 % laptops of dell which has issue with Lync, I tried to raise this Dell  as per them is issue with Lync and even Mircrosoft global team said it dell laptop drivers issue, Some of the cases has been resolved by uninstalling Audio/video
drivers. but not for every laptop.
    Regards
    zahoor

  • Have a new Dell Latitude with Adobe X Standard pre-loaded.  Purchased upgrade to Adobe XI Pro today

Have new Dell Latitude laptop with Adobe X Standard pre-loaded.  Purchased upgrade to Adobe XI Pro today and have Serial #.  Installed the upgrade successfully, but it is asking for the Serial # of the previous version...  I don't have that Serial# and in the process of the upgrade it unistalled the old version so don't really have a place to look back to.  What next?

    Hi Dan,
From where did you order the older Acrobat X Standard?
If it was a boxed product then the serial number must be behind the case, else if it was downloaded, login to your Adobe account and check the same.
Else contact Customer care or Chat with a tech support and they would be able to help you.

  • Connect Dell Latitude e6400 to iMac 27" with Displayport to Thunderbolt

    Hi,
is it possible to connect my Dell Latitude e6400 via Displayport to the Thunderbolt input on the latest iMac and unse the iMac as an external Display for the Dell Laptop?
    Best regards.
    Michael

Only other computer with Thunderbolt can use the 2011 iMacs as a display.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Thunderbolt/10.6/en/30822.html
Displayport to Thunderbolt is not supported.
    Sorry
    Stefan

  • Can I hook up my Dell Latitude for using iMac as display?

the Dell has VGA & HDMI so I wonder if it will work using a Moshi Mini DisplayPort to HDMI-adapter or similar?

If I understood you, you want to use your iMac as a display for the Dell Latitude.
See > http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11302 27-inch iMacs and iMacs with Thunderbolt ports can be used as a display, and Apple says that this feature works only for other Macs.
That's not exact and that's not the truth because an iMac can be used as a display for PCs, but the PC must have a DisplayPort or a Thunderbolt port. If your PC hasn't got DisplayPort, you can't use the iMac as a display

  • I want to install a mac monitor to a Dell Latitude PC.  I bought a VGA adapter but it still won't activate.

I want to install a mac monitor to a Dell Latitude PC.  I bought a VDI to VGA adapter but it still won't activate.

Easiest thing I found was to manually expand any open window you're dealing with; including a webpage. To do this look at the bottom right hand corner of the window pane itself. Just below the Up and Down scrolling arrows is a corner with 3 diagonal lines. Grab that and drag in the direction (up, down, right, left, diagonal) that resizes the window to meet your needs. Once you've done this the size will be remembered when you open the window in the future. I've learned Apple doesn't like "full screen" mode. Just as well since filling the screen with an open application hides anything else you have open. And the Dock doesn't highlight or display the open Apps. Hint: I've learned to use the F3 key a lot. That way I can see everything that I've opened and change applications.

  • Trying to image a Dell Latitude D630

I am trying to image a Dell Latitude D630 laptop using PXE. It is set to PXE
boot in the BIOS. I select Maint Mode when the imaging screen comes up.
Output starts running on the screen as normal then all the sudden the screen
goes black and nothing else happens. I have to end up powering off the
    laptop.
I saw a previous post where someone was having the problem and suggeted
toggling between CRT and LCD display on the laptop but this does nothing.
We are running Zen 6.5 SP2.
    Any suggestions?

    Thanks for the help Marcus.
I tried adding the two lines but it did not work. I was finally able to
resolve my issue but using the Zen 7 SP1 Boot CD along with TID 3421576 to
get the laptop imaged. It looks like it is time to upgrade my Zenworks!
    Thanks again.
