Dell Latitude X300 screen problem
Hello everyone, I recently installed Archlinux on my 2nd computer, a Dell Latitude X300.
Everything just works fine, the only problem atm I have is that when I close my screen over keyboard for a couple of minutes and then re-open it, it displays something very strange : http://img223.imageshack.us/img223/66/p1905092212.jpg
Please help me to solve this problem, thank you very much.
I have something similar on my dell latitude d400.
I don't know how to fix it.
What I do when this happens is simple ctrl+alt+f1 to switch to no-x, then alt+f1 to return to x. Stoneage solution but works.
If anyone knows how to get rid of this bug permanently, I'm glad to know it too.

I can only print one document LJ200 M276 and Dell Latitude e5430
I am using a HP Laser Jet 200 M276 All-in-One printer with my Dell latitude E5430 The problem is when I print a document the printer will work normally but if I try to print a second document it will not work at all. When I bring up the printer Queue it shows that the printer is still in the process of completing the first document (which has already been printed) and the second document is in the Queue waiting for the first to be completed. The only way to proceed with the printing is use task manager to close the application, shut down and reboot. Then again it only prints one document. I have installed the latest driver and updates and unplugged & replugged the printer and rebooted the computer.
The driver should be part of OS X, not something you download.
This link shows supported HP printers (6800 but no 6840).
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669#HP
I suggest you delete the printer, turn it off, restart your system, and turn the printer on and add it back in.

Aironet and Dell Latitude problems
We have 3 access points, 2 1121s and a 350. All three are configured identically, using IOS and with 2 user vlans, one configured with WPA/WPA2 and LEAP, and the other with 128-bit WEP. Both VLANs are also doing MAC authentication to an ACS 3.3 server.
Our Dell Latitude D610 laptops with Intel 2200BG wireless built-in can authenticate fine to both of the 1121 APs, but not to the 350. Has anyone seen anything like this, and do you have any suggestions for getting this to work with the 350? The 350 works fine when a client with a Cisco card connects. Thanks.I have a 600m which is the same chasis as the latitude d600. I also have the same wireless chipset. One of things I have found about the intel wireless is with droping connections both at work and home. Work we use 1200's wireless g cisco Aironets. Intel recognizes the problem and has resolved it with new drivers and software available at their site. since then I have not had any issues.

Dell Latitude E6410 Blank Screen
I have Arch installed on an external USB drive. It works fine on two different laptops using ATI cards and using the generic ati driver. Now I'm trying it on a Dell Latitude E6410 which has an nVidia card (NVS 3100M). At first I had both the generic ati and the vesa drivers installed. With just these two, X started, but it was simply a bunch of colored pixels randomly assorted. Using the generic xf86-video-nv yielded an error and X wouldn't start. Using nouveau I got a little closer, except rather than not starting or displaying strange color assortments, the screen simply seemed to either go black or turn off. I've looked around and apparently nouveau does work with this graphics card, but I'm not sure why it isn't right now.
nickramos wrote:Ok, I did get it to work on the laptop using nouveau, but only by adding configuration options to xorg.
But now, because of this, my ATI computers won't load X. Is there any way to make it so that the correct driver is loaded depending on the machine being used?
That's the hard part. That's what I was talking about.
Of course you can manually switch the configs and reboot.
You need to hack initscripts or sth like that
if $hostname = ati do

Dell Latitude CPx Xircom pcmcia card problem.
Hi.
I have recently received an old Dell Latitude CPx laptop. i have added to it an old Xircom RealPort CardBus Ethernet 10/100+ Modem 56.
after the installation, when booting, during the start-up of networking, i get the following message:
SIOCSIFFLAGS: Cannot assign requested address
are there any known solutions to this problem?
or will i have to swap Ethernet cards?
thank you in advance
sha11. Is the card recognized? Run lspci
2. What is the output of ifconfig -a? Does it show up as an interface?
3. Do you have it coming up by default in networking settings? -
Dell Latitude 3540 switchable graphics problems
I have a Dell Latitude 3540 with Intel 4400 and AMD 8850m. I originally had the open source drivers installed but i decided to install catalyst. I installed catalyst-total-pxp from the AUR. My X server wont start with the xorg.conf that is generated by aticonfig --initial. The x server will boot without an xorg.conf but Cinnamon won't load but LXDE will and I can't run Minecraft or any Steam games. glxinfo gives this output
name of display: :0
X Error of failed request: BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 154 (GLX)
Minor opcode of failed request: 19 (X_GLXQueryServerString)
Serial number of failed request: 12
Current serial number in output stream: 12
Any help would be appreciated.Re-installed and it worked, I think it was poorly linked libgl files.

For some reason, I keep getting the "iTunes has stopped working" error message on my Dell Latitude E6520 when trying to sync photos to my iPhone 3GS. I am using Windows 7 on my 64-bit computer. iTunes will begin to optimize the photos in the folder I have directed it to (I am trying to load almost 3000 photos and videos), and it will go through optimizing all of them singularly, then get to the step where it says "optimizing" again, but does so in bigger groups. It will get to about 2000, and then the error message "iTunes has stopped working" will pop up, and say that "Windows must close the program and will search for a solution, and if it finds one, it will notify me". Why can't I sync these photos, and what can I do? Thanks so much for the help, I really appreciate it!
Same problem here! Moreover, for some reason, the pictures in my iPhone 3GS somehow have been divided into 2 folders, Photos and Medialibrary. And when I open iPhone as a folder through the explorer I can see only the Photos folder, but cannot see the Medialibrary folder which stores the photos taken before updating/upgrading the iPhone and getting separated folders!!! What the hack with all of this?!!! When I connect iPhone to PC it automatically opens iTunes and starts syncronizing it, but at the process of OPTIMIZING the photos (and according to the number of photos it shows, I see that it tries to syncronize that invisible Medialibrary folder) the process suddenly stops and error message pops out Tried the sync test, tried the button DEBUG in that pop out message, but NOTHING HELPS!!! Also, when I open the Medialibrary in my iPhone, the screen get sblack all through scrolling it down, only the video clips are shown there... >.<
So, could you, apple developers, please, explain WHAT THIS PROBLEM IS ABOUT?!!!!!! FIX IT! I am getting ****** of to spend hours at the computer and reading those lame advises which do not help at all! I have my own things to do except reading your support websites. And I payed for the product ready to use, but not a halfproduct which problems should further be solved somehow by users.. -
Trying to image a Dell Latitude D630
I am trying to image a Dell Latitude D630 laptop using PXE. It is set to PXE
boot in the BIOS. I select Maint Mode when the imaging screen comes up.
Output starts running on the screen as normal then all the sudden the screen
goes black and nothing else happens. I have to end up powering off the
laptop.
I saw a previous post where someone was having the problem and suggeted
toggling between CRT and LCD display on the laptop but this does nothing.
We are running Zen 6.5 SP2.
Any suggestions? Thanks for the help Marcus.
I tried adding the two lines but it did not work. I was finally able to
resolve my issue but using the Zen 7 SP1 Boot CD along with TID 3421576 to
get the laptop imaged. It looks like it is time to upgrade my Zenworks!
Thanks again.

Installing Solaris 10 via external CD drive on Dell Latitude D800 Laptop
Hello all, I am trying to install Solaris 10 via external CD drive on Dell Latitude D800 Laptop. After the GRUB menu it begins to load, displaying the " . . . . . ." and hangs about 1/4 way accross the screen. When attempting the install from a DVD instead of a CD the installation hangs on the same screen even sooner. Has anyone encoutered this problem?
Hello Alex,
no, you can't use USB devices on SPARC as boot device.
The OBP (even updated ones) contains only support for the USB keyboard, but none for USB mass storage (which requires a device driver). The integrated USB ports are for slow devices like keyboard and mouse.
Using an external SCSI DVD-ROM works. Another choice is an installation via network.

Has anyone had success with the Dell Latitude C600?
This could be a bug in Arch itself but at boot say every 5 boots (this number will vary greatly but happens often enough to be annoying and worrying) it will freeze at the prompt saying something about udev uevents. The freeze will either be it just plain stopping, causing me to have to hold the power button down twice for some reason to reboot or it will turn my whole screen bright white by having it "spread" quickly from a few points.
I have no idea what could be wrong, I don't even know what udev uevents are but this seems to be a problem with Arch and not my laptop because every other distro or os you can think of has worked on it.
Any help is appreciated.I actually forgot all about this topic. I believe I found the problem though and it's good to know other people get it to, not just me.
This also fixes other prebuilt kernels for other distros.
I found out that most Dell laptops have their own special format for the PCMCIA bus and if a certain something is probed (which udev has been doing) the system will freeze. Anyway as far as I know this fixes it, I'm yet to have any crashes.
In /etc/pcmcia/config.opts for pcmcia-cs there is a range on an include line near the top: 0x800-0x8ff. Just get rid of that range it it should be fixed. If you use pcmciautils in the same general area there are lines and one should have 0x8ff at the end of a range, I can't remember the full range but just comment out the line with that in it.
I got that from http://www.whacked.net/ldl/faq/ which even though it looks to be years and years old still has a lot of useful information in it.
Wouldn't mind some feedback if this worked for any Dell users, seems to have worked for me. Thanks. -

best regards, Dimitri.IE favorites sinking with you iDevices.
Today I too noticed favorite links that had previously been deleted reappeared. After finding list thread and reading @Paulio999 reply I did the fallowing
to solve the issue, because I keep all my web browser's, computer's, and device's favorites synced.
Open iCloud control panel on all computer you use iCloud on.
Under bookmarks-Options, un-check Internet Explorer.
Click OK button
Click Apply button
Close iCloud control panel
On one iDevice open Safari.
Open Bookmarks
Delete all bookmarks
Select done
Close Safari
On your Windows machine under C:\Users\-user name-\Favorites
Delete all the links that are no longer wanted
Open iCloud control panel
Under bookmarks-Options, check Internet Explorer.
Click OK button
Click Apply button
Close iCloud control panel
Your favorites should now reappear on you iDevices and any changes you make from your windows machine to your IE favorites should now work correctly between your devices.
I tested this on two Laptops, one tower, an iPhone5, and an iPad3. -
Dell Latitude E6520 fails to boot after Windows Updates
Hello,
I have a Dell Latitude E6520 that is not starting up after Windows updates. It installs updates and requests a reboot, after which it blue screens at the splash logo and reboots again. This goes on indefinitely. The only way to repair it is to boot from
a recovery disk and run:
dism /image:D:\ /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions
This is after running dism /image:D:\ /get-packages and noticing that several updates are still in an "Install_Pending" state. These are the kb's that are pending:
kb2982378
kb2978742
kb2977629
kb2976897
kb2973112
kb2972211
There were other updates, but those showed as installed. I would post the WindowsUpdate.Log, but I do not see a button to attach a file and the log is very long. Here is what I think is relevant towards the end of the log:

Airport Extreme update to 7.6.3 orphans my Dell Latitude D620
Anyone else experiencing this?
I dutifully upgraded my Airport Extreme to 7.6.3 from 7.6.1 as instructed by my computer.
This is the latest version of the Airport Extreme - simultaneous dual band, etc. Purchased a few weeks ago.
My Dell Latitude D620 will no longer connect properly to the network. The "DW WLAN Card Utility" shows that it is sending packets, but not receiving them. The signal strength is strong, as expected and normal.
I've ensured that all updates on the Dell are installed. The hardware is a "Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN Mini-Card", original and internal to the unit. The driver is 5.60.18.9
All other devices (laptops, iphones, Apple TV, etc. - including a more 'modern' Dell laptop) are working fine both before and after the update to 7.6.3.
This worked perfectly prior to the update to 7.6.3. So with considerable trouble, I reverted to 7.6.1, and the laptop could connect again. Upgrading a second time to 7.6.3 and the problem reappears.
If anyone has any ideas on this before I junk my trusty old Dell laptop, please let me know!Did anyone ever found a solution to this?
I upgraded Airport Extreme to 7.6.4 and the Dell D620 is having problem connecting. Sometime it connects but no Internet access. I have 2 other none Dell laptops and Iphone 4. They all work with the Airport router. Just the Dell that having an issue.
Is reverting back to 7.6.1 the only solution? -

for Lync 2013. The faulting module is related to the graphics driver, but reinstalling does nothing, uninstalling and then reinstalling does nothing, it cannot further be upgraded. This same error affects all the Dell latitude e6520's. It
also only occurs in Windows 8.1. The windows 7 image using the exact same driver version (both the outdated driver and latest driver) works just fine with Lync 2013.
Running Lync with administrative permissions does nothing, disabling hardware acceleration did nothing. None of our laptops come with the bluetooth adapter, and also updated all other drivers such as chipset and soundcard. Error occurs on the
RTM version of Lync, and Lync with SP1 fully updated. The rest of Office 2013 works fine. I am currently at a loss here short of telling the help desk to not image E6520's with Windows 8.1 because Lync 2013 doesn't work on it. But there has
to be a reason for it. Calling out for some suggestions here.
Thanks! We also have the same issue with Dell E6420 running Windows 8.1. Lync application does not respond after start-up. Did you try looking for the error file under
C:\users\username\appdata\local\Microsoft\Windows\WER\Reportarchive
it should create file like AppHang_lync.exe_some numbers. search for the latest one.
Interesting, I don't have any 6420's handy but figured the issue would exist on those also. I looked up the location you mention and see many crash logs for Lync. Not really sure what the error is, just says it stopped working.

How to implement index array inside case structure for searching a 3D array?
Well I have a 3D array and I want to index certain elements from that array. And I have thought of one way of doing this is to have multiple index array functions on the block diagram to search the array simultaneously, but that would be messy. Or I
