Dell OptiPlex GX200
I already checked the hardware compatibility data sheet and the Dell OptiPlex GX200 is not mentioned. Has anyone succesfully load Unix Sun Solares for intel on this platform?

Apex giving installation problem on dell optiplex xe system
Hi
We have installed apex 4 on dell optiplex xe , but it display the source code when we use page forwared and backward of mozilla firefox. We also use the same versionon our laptpops and other non branded computer , it working fine.
Regard
FaizThis case is similar to the case handled by Jurgen Keil on Digest Number 385 except that my case, it has a different error message.
At the prompt "Select type of installation" (or the prompt
"Select (b)oot or (i)nterpreter:", I type the command "b kadb -d". I see a General Protection Fault and some messages which cause the system to reboot. But I can't capture all the errors/messages cuz there's no system dump device configured.
How do I configured the system dump device so I can send you more details?
Thank you. -
Repeated blue screen crash when running labview 8.2 on Dell optiplex GX620
Hi, I have recently experienced a series of 'blue screen' crashes on a Dell Optiplex GX620 while running Labview 8.2. The dell is running Windows XP SP2 with an ATI Radeon X600 graphics card. Labview is interfacing with a NI DAQPad 6015 device. The computer is a dedicated Labview machine so there is no other third party software that has been installed that could be causing the problem. Also, the computer is one of three identical machines, the only one that has labview installed and the only one that is crashing. Upon rebooting after the first 'blue screen' crash an error report indicated that there was a problem with the ATI graphics driver and suggested updating the driver to the latest version. This was done. Upon rebooting after the second 'blue screen' crash an error report indicated that there was a problem with the RAM. Both of these crashes occurred while running a labview application. A further two incidents have occurred where the computer has restarted for no apparent reason while running a labview application. I was wondering if you were aware of any known issues/incompatibilities with my specific machine and labview 8.2, or if there could be any other known issues with labview that might be causing the crashes. It should also be noted that this is a new setup and these crashes have occurred in relatively short time frame. Thanks for your help!
Hi,
To have a better understanding of what is causing the blue screen crash and the Windows restart, we may need to retrieve the memory dump caused by the crash in Windows XP. Before we actually get into that, we may need to disable Automatic Reboot by Windows when it crashes. I have attached a link that describes how to disable computer reboot after a crash and I have also attached a link of how to retreive the memory dump. Let me know how it goes!
Why Does My Computer Automatically Reboot For No Reason?
How Can I Create a Kernel Memory Dump When Windows Crashes?
(Note that we want to select Complete memory dump, not Kernel Memory dump)

Officejet Pro 8500 A909g Scan-To-Network-Folder Problem On New Dell Optiplex 3020
I hope that I am posting this issue to the correct board.
I recently purchased a Dell Optiplex 3020 64-bit desktop running Windows 7 Pro. My home network now has the old HP printer and my original 2003 vintage Sony Vaio XP Home 32-bit on wired connections. There is also an HP Notebook 64-bit running Windows 7 Home, using a WiFi connection. I replaced a Linux clone (which had connected ok to the printer) with the new Dell on the same wired connection.
With the other 2 PCs, I was able to set up Scan To Network Folder using the original HP software with no problems. I used a current setup file from the HP site to set up the Dell. The file is: "OJP 8500vA909_Full_14 HP Webpack". The Dell prints fine, but when I try to set up the network scan folders on the Dell the setup stalls and I get a request for an SSL certificate. I don't know if this is being generated by the OS or by the HP setup file that I downloaded. I can't figure out how to get the network folders to work on the new Dell, and I know next to nothing about SSL.
To be clear, the old Sony is a 32-bit Windows Home Edition, the HP notebook is Windows 7 Home 64-bit, and the new Dell is Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Sometime soon, the Sony will be retired and the OS environment will become much simpler.
While I'm at it, I probably should update the printer firmware. However, my guess is that I should wait to do that until the old 32-bit Sony goes out to pasture.
TIA for any advice and suggestions.Hi Alla-guy,
As far as I know, you have posted your issue to the correct board, now let us see what we can do to get it resolved
I will answer your easier question first, in regards to the firmware. You can update the firmware whenever you are ready! You don't need to wait for the other computer to reach it's end, as the firmware is just within the hardware of the printer and shouldn't affect anything software wise on the computer, so go ahead and update the firmware when you have a few minutes!
As for the setting up to scan to a network folder, it is odd that it's asking for SSL, do you know if you're the administrator on the new computer?
I realize the instructions in this Set up and Use Direct Digital Filing for Windows document are for setup, but still have a look and make sure that is how things were going for yourself. Also, it may be a good idea to check any firewalls or anti-virus that you have and temporarily disable any firewalls or programs that could be blocking things over the network.
Let me know how this goes for you!

Help! I need to upgrade my Dell Optiplex GX260 (tower) power supply!
Hi,
I plan on taking a trip to Best Buy today to purchase a video card and power supply for my Dell Optiplex GX260 (tower). I am looking to get at least a 500W power supply. Can you tell me the BEST power supply that will work/fit that Best Buy sells? Thanks very much.I see that you posted back in March of 2009 so I hope that you haven't already fried a motherboard or PSU while learning the hardway, as I feel that I almost did. We have a Dell GX260 that my daughter wants to play some games on but I found out that the Graphic Card (ATI Radeon 7500 series) was not good enough for the games that she wants to play so I decided to upgrade the graphic card, unfortunately I found out that a lot of newer cards have PCI-Express connectors and not the PCI I need. As well, I found out that most of the PCI cards above what I have need more than the 250Watt power supply that I have. So I thought, why not just upgrade my my PSU and then I found out that Dell actually rewires their PSU differently than the industry standard ATX connectors but I see a lot of post and recommendations from people that say that you can use any store bought PSU to upgrade your Optiplex GX260 but BEWARE that if you bought your system after late 1998 then you have a Dell system that has their own proprietary wiring configuaration and even though you can buy a standard ATX PSU at bestbuy and it will seem to fit properly, it will either fry your new PSU or worse yet, it will fry your motherboard as well. In fact, I went to bestbuy three days ago and bought a graphic card and the salesman told me that if my PSU was not at least 300Watt, which is what the card required, that I can come back and buy a standard PSU from them and that would fix the problem. The salesman even knew that I had a Dell System so I wonder if BestBuy would be willing to replace my motherboard if I had fried it based on what the bestbuy salesman told me to do???? Anyway, read this link http://www.informit.com/articles/article.aspx?p=339053 and see what you think!! I am glad I stumbled across the information and plan on upgrading my PSU with a compatible Dell PSU or look for a Dell Converter (if there is such a cable) or just replace both my PSU and Motherboard as directed. I also think I might actually build my next PC from scratch with all industry standard parts, as I was very ignorant up until now that Dell was doing this to their products and I have 3 of their systems in my house....but no more!!! I did find a Dell compatible PSU 500 Watt on PCPower.com but it comes with SATA drive connectors and my Optiplex GX260 has IDE connectors so I don't know if I can get a SATA to IDE conversion or not but as you can see I am still researching my options. I might actually find it will be cheaper to just buy a new system or build the one of my dreams!!
I know I wrote a lot but I hope that this information is helpful to someone else out there who is in the same boat as me. -
Can I install Mac OS X Tiger 10.4 on a dell Optiplex Gx280?
Hi! I have a couple of questions which I can't seem to find the answers too.
1) Can I install Mac OS X Tiger 10.4 on a Dell Optiplex GX280?
2) Can I take the HDD from the aforementioned Dell and place it in my Power Mac G4 Digital Audio? If so, will Tiger still be on it?
3) If I can't install Tiger on my Dell, can I rip the DVD drive out and use that to install?
4) HDD's don't have to be Mac specific, do they?
Thank you for your valuable time,

Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro Freezing After Install on Brand New Dell Optiplex 580
Hello,
I was wondering if anyone knew of a solution to an issue I am having.
I installed Adobe Acrobat Pro 8 onto a brand new Dell Optiplex 580 running Windows XP (AntiVirus was not installed yet). When launching, it freezes 3-5 seconds after opening and I need to open Task Manager to kill the process.
I have tried:
Repair install
Deleteing Preferences folder and letting the program recreate it
Manually starting and restarting the FLEXnet service
Running in compatibility mode
Applying the updates for Adobe Acrobat Pro (up to 8.2.4)
Running Adobe without background services
Manually uninstalling and reinstalling
Thanks for your help in advance,
Seth
Message was edited by: ssd008Another possibility to check is the free space in the TEMP folder. I believe Acrobat uses the TEMP folder for temporary storage. You might even consider increasing the size of the TEMP folder. At least this is something else to check.

VERY strange lag on a Dell Optiplex 760
I thought it would be a good idea to keep a 16GB flash drive on my keychain that booted Arch so I could work on HW for college in a consistent OS! Everything is working great so far, but I ran into a very strange problem with a Dell Optiplex 760. During the normal Arch init process, everything loads great, except for when it gets to the udev stage where everything hangs. But here's the strange part of this scenario: the problems go away when I start typing random keys or move the mouse! If I don't do this, the system hangs completely from what I can tell. This happens at the console and with X.
The service tag for this machine is FDCQQJ1, and the dell.com driver area brings up this list of hardware and (windows) drivers for it.

Image-Safe data on Dell Optiplex GX520
Good afternoon,
I am having trouble getting image-safe data to stick on our Dell Optiplex GX520's. The machine will image fine manually, but no matter how many times you reboot it, the image-safe fields don't populate. In the BIOS I switched the SATA setting to combination, but it still isn't working. The history file is useless too. It either says the file is not valid, or just "unknown error, unable to add image-safe data". This happens on about 90% of our 520's, but some do actually work. Could it be the HD itself?
Thanks.Originally Posted by Captainjd02

I am going to half way answer my own question. I determined it is the HD itself. The machines in question have Western Digital WD400BD installed. If the machine does not have this drive then the image-safe data will populate. -
Dell OptiPlex 3020: I only get sound from the internal speakers
I have a brand new Dell OptiPlex 3020 running Windows 8.1. I am able to hear through the internal speakers, but I cannot get external speakers or headphones to work - I've tried both the jacks on the front and back.
The microphone on my headset works correctly, but I still hear only through the internal speakers.
Advice?Good day!
Thank you for writing to the Dell Community Forum.
Boot into the System Bios and make sure that Onboard Devices- Integrated Audio is On. Then exit the System Bios saving the change. Once back into Windows, open the Device Manager and make sure that ADI1983 HDA appears under Sound devices. Then re-test the rear green audio jack #4 using headphones. Also, reply to this post with the service tag of the system sent via private message so that I can look into the details of the system and assist you better.
Have a great day ahead. -
Install SUN Solaris 10 X86 in Dell Optiplex 620 with Broadcom 5751 NIC
I shall be very grateful if any one would offer his/her advice of the followings:
1) How do I copy a img file, i.e bcmedu.img which file size is
1.47MB to a 1.44 diskette when the PC is unable to
connect to network?
2) Where can I get a copy of the driver for bcme.bef to be
install in DELL Optiplex 620 with Broadcom 5751 NIC?
3) Is there a way to install NIC driver through other media other than diskette in Device Configuration Assistant?
Note: I have followed the Installation and Configuration Guide provided by SUN and Boardcom but has yet to make the network card detected despited I have been re-installed the OS many times.
Your great help is much appreciated.
Regards,
sweei was facing the same problem just hours ago.
i successfully installed broadcom driver into solaris 10 with Dell GX280
i copy broadcom driver into a CD and run it on solaris pc.
i copied out the file into a directory and use pkgadd -d BRCMbcme.pkg and voila. My pc detected the network card.
Then start configuring your network.
It works for me. Hope it works for u.

Trouble installing Solaris 10(x86) u4 8/07 on a new Dell OptiPlex 755
Hello All,
I'm having trouble installing Solaris 10(x86) u4 8/07 on a new Dell OptiPlex 755.
I have also tried installing opensolaris 9/07 Express Dev snv_70b with the same issue.
I tried disabling all unnecessary hardware in the BIOS as well.
After GNU GRUB loads and I select Solaris install after about 20 dots.... I get:
WARNING: /pci@0,0/pci1028,211@1d, 7
No SOF interrupts have been received
this USB EHCI host controller is unusable
Hardware:
Dell OptiPlex 755 Small Form Factor, Pentium Dual Core, E2160/1.8GHz1M,800FSB,1GB ram.
I am only installing Solaris 10 - no other OS will be on the HD.
Is there any hope for getting SolX installed on this machine or should I return this hardware and by a different model? I have to build 2 pc's with SolX for development boxs.
Thank you in Advance,
-MHi Experts,
I have multiple optiplex 755 Systems and facing the same problem.
I am not able to install Solaris either 8/07 or Exress 9/07.
can anybody answer with useful and working solution, on how to solve it, I mean 1. How to get Solaris 9/07 or 8/07 Installed on an Optiplex 755 system
(basically one with PC1/2 missing for keyboard and Mouse)I am a genuinely concerned guy, so please don't mind the rudeness in this question.

Problem with restoring an Image to Dell Optiplex 745
Hello,
i try to restore my image to my new Dell Optiplex 745 machines. I am
using ZFD4.01IR7 with the boot-cd from zenimaging.info which uses the
zfd7 imaging engine. I am able to restore the image but unfortunately my
local (and only...) Administrator is not in the Administrators group
anmyore. The Group membership shows only an SID, perhaps the old
Administrators SID... So i cannot install drivers for the included NIC
in order to use DLU for logging in with an Administrator from edir.
I know that that is an unsupported environment with the mixed versions
of ZfD but it works for other machines.
Any help would be appreciated.
Kind regards,

hmm.. bring down the image manually, remove the just imaged flag with
zisedit from ZISD, start windows and check if that helps
If you have already compiled drivers or have linux.2 please put them on
