Do I just install the printer drivers onto the MBP?Will it work then?Are they compatible?

They should be compatible. I don't see why they wouldn't be. Mac OS X comes with tons of printer drivers pre-loaded, so you shouldn't have to install anything.

Problem with Dell Printer and Wireless Router

I have a new Linksys Wireless Router (3100) and it handles 3 laptops, PS3 fine. But I have a Dell 715w network printer (also new). I have it set up on the network, and it works fine upon setup. The problem is the printer does not work all the time. Sometimes I can get an error message, sometimes it says it is busy, and other times it literally takes a long time to load and then does not print. I usually can get it to work again by rebooting and turning off the router and printer and laptops, but this hit or miss is very annoying and I never know when it will do this again, usually after a week or two. I wonder if the problem is that the 3 laptops all have different OS - XP, Vista and Windows 7. Dell tech support won't help as they say they don't support routers, but I am wondering whether the problem is ina s etting or if this printer is malfunctioning. any help would be appreciated

Yes. You have to key-in the IP address to the printer.
Basically, if the printer is set to obtain IP address from the router, it will be provided with a random IP or any IP available for the next device that will connect, on this issue, your printer. So there's no permanent IP address for the printer, making it a little hard to find at times. Compare it with the a static IP, your computer can easily map it since it doesn't change.

Having trouble with dell printer and bonjour

We recently got iMac computers for our office, however we still have a windows computer we need to be able to use to print. I have the printer, a Dell 1320c, installed on my Mac, and it prints just fine.
I also have Parallels and Windows 7 installed on my Mac. I can print just fine from within Windows (Bonjour was not needed) Curiously, when I print a Windows Test Page from within Parallels, it says that the printer name is the Dell Color Laser 1320c, however, the Printer Model says: HP Color LaserJet 2800 Series PS. I have no clue where that came from, but I wonder if that may be causing a problem.
Within OS X 10.8.2, I have enabled Printer Sharing to everyone. I turned off sharing in Parallels, though that didn't make a difference.
On the Windows 7 PC, I have tried to manually add the printer with TCP/IP, but it wouldn't recognize a printer. I installed Bonjour, and was able to install the Dell printer, however, when I print, I get a bunch of pages that starts like this:

No, you can't connect direcly from your computer to your printer using network cable. It has USB connection:

I believe your Macbook Pro also hae USB port(s). Please use a cable which is similar to the follwing cable to connect them:

Dell printer and Mac OS

Hi, we just switched over to Mac and am trying to get my Dell 2130cn printer to work with these computers. Many thanks to the help in this forum, i was able to find and download the recommended pxlmono driver and can now print in color. However, i'm not able to use the duplexer, second tray, and printing photos takes forever. We are using the comps/printer in a business application, and printing newsletters, envelopes/graphics etc is a necessary daily event. Does Mac offer a translating software that will allow me to install the Dell drivers to run the printer as I did on our PCs, or should I buy a new printer?? Many thanks

Just to double check--would it work if I installed Windows with a Mac program that allowed me to run Windows parallel to the Mac os (i'm sick of windows) just to run the printer? I know it seems like an easier solution to just buy a new printer, but frankly I'm not excited about the options out there--really like this printer and have $500 of toners we just bought for it. But i don't really want to compromise--I'd like it to work like it did on a PC. Thanks again

ITunes v/s Dell printer software - Help needed! At the end of my tether!

HI there In Jan I purachsed a new Dell printer and since this I have been unable to use my IPOD due to an error. I have been in contact with Dell, the IT dep rang me and advised that as the IPOD was mainly designed to work with the MAC system sometimes an error can occur when using XP. I advised him that this was a "joke"! He advised that the software is not compatable! I previously had DEll printer and software and had no issues, I advised him of this and he basically told me that the error sometimes happens and sometimes it does not - its the luck of the draw! He advised me to speak with apple (what reason I dont know). I have complained to Dell however half the time I feel like I am talking to a brick wall, they dont want to listen! I advised them to send me some new software to enable me to use both my printer and IPOD (I also get the same error on my digital camera) OR collect my printer so that I can purchase a new one that will work! Well, Jim, we are going to run through a clean uninstallation and reinstallation of your printer. If this does not work, we are going to take another step down the road, but I will need to know if your PC is manufactured by HP or by another maker. Anywho, moving on with the task at hand ...
First if you use a USB cord, make sure to remove it. Do not plug it back in until the software directs you to. Then go through the Devices and Printers, Programs and Features and Device Manager folders and insure that all copies, files, and programs related to the printer are removed. Then as directed, restart the computer.
In the START menu type "%temp%" and press ENTER. Here I want you to press Ctrl+A and hit DELETE. Some of the files will not allow you to delete them, skip those files and delete the majority that allows it.

I am trying to add a wireless printer to my MacBook Pro. It was working properly until we had to get a new modem. I have gone through the steps with the printer customer service rep, and it was working properly for one day. When I booted up the next morning, the printer was no longer "connected". It will work if I have the printer and computer connected, but I much prefer the wireless capability. Suggestions? The printer is a Brother MFC7860DW. The other laptop in the house (Dell) can print wirelessly so I don't think it's an issue with the modem or the printer.

Go to the Dell website and download the drivers (software) for Mac O S X 10.7 for the 964 model.
Then open System Preferences > Print & Scan > Print
Click + to add the printer.

I have an hp laptop and a seemingly incompatable Dell printer

I have tried plugging it in via usp and setting it up like that but it stops at about a centimeter of progress in the about 4 or 5 inch bar. The dell printer number im guessing is 07Y643 because the back says "dp/n 07Y643". My operating system is windows 8 on my HP 2000 Notebook PC.

This is may be a disappointment -- you need to install Dell Printer software for a Dell printer.

Looks like there is a driver for... Vista. You could do a search on the Dell site and see if there is anything newer. You might even be able to use that old Vista Driver in compatibility mode -- or it may even install and run the way it is, although it is som very old code.

It looks like the Brother MFC-3360 can only print/fax with a MacBook Pro which stinks that it cannot scan ( a function on the MFC that worked on my Dell laptop). Do i need to get another MFC that works with apple?! who faxes anymore? i need to scan and email the documents, not print and fax. this is a very unpleasant surprise.
