Dell problems

See if this sounds familiar: "I'm having problems installing Solaris 8 on a Dell server.."
I've read the posts on the difficulty with installing Solaris 8 on Dell PowerEdge boxes. I have two PowerEdge 2550 that need 8 installed. Specs for each are: 2x 1GHz PIII, 4GB RAM, 5x 36GB HDD RADI5, PERC3/DC.
I'm using the latest DCA boot disk with "setprop acpi-user-options 0x2" in the bootenv.rc with a fresh copy of 8 7/01. I get a single "WARNING: ACPI tables not in reclaim memory." when booting but no panic or reboots.
The OS install goes normally on either machine, using the most recent AMI MegaRaid driver, and I'm able to eventually have a running system. Added the above setprop to /etc/bootrc and rebooted. System comes up, I download the latest patch cluster, unzip and begin to apply. After the patching begins, or sometimes well into applying the patches, the system hangs. The mouse still moves but the system is clearly not responding. I can sometimes switch desktops, but simply right clicking to bring up the system menu results in total hang. I've tailed /var/adm/messages and watched install logs while performing the patch install but nothing shows up. Running perfmeter shows system activity but I can't interact with the system. Cannot telnet or serial into the box.
I've tried core through OEM installs, using the AIC-7899 drivers, changing video and power management settings. Nada...
Any ideas?

Additional info: Systems continue to lock randomly, not just when applying patches. One system remained up through the weekend, unpatched, at the CDE logon prompt. When I logged in it ran for a few minutes but after working in the gui for a few minutes it again froze. Cursor still moves but everything else is unresponsive. Maybe a hardware conflict of some kind? Cranked up logging but no errors are being reported.

I’m at Dell Headquarters in Austin, Texas and I’m part of Dell’s Online Community Outreach team. I’m sorry to hear that this is a problem and would like to see what I can do to help. I’d be happy to assist in tracking down firmware if anyone is having difficulty finding it. If applying the latest firmware available for that drive doesn’t correct the issue then the next step would be to pursue a patch for the software. It’s been my experience that optical drives are designed to meet certain specifications and then programs such as iTunes written to work with them. Given that the drive meets all applicable industry standards, it would be more of an issue of iTunes being patched to work with it then the other way around. Until such a fix is available, one possible workaround might be to use a different program to burn music CD’s if that can be done in a way that’s in keeping with the DRM rules.

Dell digital delivery, Adobe XI Std and Serial Number

We ordered a lot of new Optiplex 3010's for business. We also specified Adobe Acrobat XI which only comes through via Dell Digital Delivery now. So we do not get a disc or a serial number card anymore.
We set up a model computer exactly how we want it. You know, run through all the nag prompts, import a script to customize pinned applications to the taskbar, accept first time license agreements, ensure all the software we need is installed and configured. Then after this is done we remove it from the domain again and as a local admin we go through everything one last time to make sure things are custom the way we want. We then take an image using Acronis (boot to it from network). Then we go back in and run the Windows 7 sysprep utility that points to an xml file with things like copy profile = true, and others.
After it shuts down we image it again so we have an after image. Now we just use Acronis and put this image on all of our Dell Optiplex 3010's. When its booted the only thing it asks for is computer name, and then once its booted we join it to our domain. Prior to deployment we run appwiz.cpl, go down to Microsoft Office 2010 and hit "Change" and choose enter a product key, and then we enter the product key from the computer that it is replacing.
Now today I got an e-mail from someone with one of these new computers along with a screen shot from Adobe Acrobat XI (which remember is via Dell digital delivery and we have no serial cards or installation media anymore).
It says The serial number 1016xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx is already in use by the maximum allowed computers. You need to deactivate another computer within 25 days to use this products.Then there are two options:
Retry activation. I already have deactivated one of my other computers.
Provide a different serial number.
Well since Dell did not distribute Adobe key cards, where would I get another serial number from? I imagine the one presented was used in the original image. However Dell digital delivery verifies by the service tag that the PC is authorized for Adobe and it should have taken care of all of this. So what am I to do here? In the future if we do not choose this method and instead go through another retailer for Adobe Acrobat XI Standard, then we will get a CD and key card for each computer we deploy, although its much more expensive... were talking $150 vs the $50 add on for it when customizing the Dell computer.
So thanks for any input. I realize this could be an Dell problem (so I posted over there as well), however this was installed via Dell Digital Delivery and Dell did not send out any keys.
We legitimately paid for this. In the previous round of Optiplex 3010's when we could order Acrobat X standard, we were given a key card. After sysprep I would run a script (AAMEE was installed in the default image) to change the serial number via the command line. But now Acrobat XI is different and I'm not sure what to do. Dell doesn't even give us an option for Adobe X anymore, or else I would have just used that version which worked fine.

Ok I figured out a work around.
In the start menu there is an application called Dell Digital Delivery... launch this. It will show Adobe Acrobat Standard XI in the list along with an icon to the right of it. Click the icon to the right and you have two options:
Show Product Key or Reinstall.
If you do Show Product Key, it does show a unique product key based on the dell service tag. So you can copy this key and when adobe says that the maximum activations have been used, you can choose the second option to enter a new product key. You simply paste the product key in there.
I think choosing reinstall would also install the application with the correct product key.
I think to fix it so that your not waiting an undetermined amount of days until you see the activation count exceeded screen... is to image the PC prior to using dell digital delivery to install Adobe Acrobat.
So once you deploy the image onto a new Dell, and boot it, THEN run Dell digital delivery, because it will query the BIOS for the service tag, and retrive the appropriate install key from Dell.
Or if I can find the command I can change the product key using AAMEE before waiting an unknown amount of time for the prompt from adobe. This is what I did with Adobe Acrobat X standard. AAMEE changed the product key to the one matching the key card that came with the machine.

Itunes skipping on dell e1505 when not connected to internet

When I'm at work and plugged in the internet my I tunes works perfectly, but when I am at home where I have no internet access my I tunes skips, I tried the the device driver adjustments suggested by lowman for the hp pavilion but no success. Is there some requirment that Itunes have internet access before it functions properly? If anyone has a suggestion for this apparent dell problem please let me know.

Pues el problema es que estoy haciendo un sistema y pensando en los roles de los usuarios creé cuatro tablas con las que podría controlar aquello:
usuarios, grupos, permisos, tablas
un usuario esta en un grupo y un grupo tiene permisos para ciertas tablas
entonces necesitaba una forma de recuperar cierto permiso de cierta tabla para un usuario.
Tenía dos opciones:
1.- un VO que encapsule mi sentencia sql (la del problema)
2.- manejarlo todo con entityObject's (la que está ahora funcionando)

Como haces para las medidas de seguridad de un sistema en jsp ??

Me pide un numero de serial del packaging cuando lo compre en appstore

hola. cuando quiero abrir aperture, aparece un cuadro que me pide nombre, apellido, organizacion y un numero de serie y no tengo ninguno... abajo dice que lo obtenga del packaging y lo compre en el appstore online.

ya solucione parte del problema, simplemente busque la aplicacion en el finder y la traslade a la papelera. busque nuevamente la aplicacion pero esta vez en aapstore y clickee en comprar, aparecio un cuadro que decia que ya tenia esa aplicacion y que este upgrade era gratuito. se descargo y funcionó. pero la aplicacion no me aparece en adquiridas o compradas. esperare unos dias, quizas aparezca.

Gracias por responder, yo tambien creo que el punto es discutible ya que los problemas al parecer son de fabricación y no por el uso, encuentro el colmo que un producto de esta categoria tenga problemas de este tipo, soy un fiel usuario de mac y es primera vez que un producto me acasiona tantos problemas.
Ahora solo me queda llevarlo al servicio técnico y ver que me dicen.
Los mantendre informados acerca del problema, porque al parecer varios tienen en mismo problema.
P.D: Además me entere que ha un programa de reemplazo del disco duro será por eso el problema???

Tengo varios problemas con mi Imac, primero aparecio una nube gris en la pantalla como una mancha de polvo por dentro de la pantalla, ahora comenzo a emitir un ruido el ventilador y la mitad de la pantalla bajo su brillo. El problema es que estoy fuera de garantia por tener 1 año y medio mas y queria saber si estos problemas pasan por garantia.

Me gustaría saber donde puedo descargar el disco de instalacion de windows 7 y los drivers de mi laptop. Perdí toda la informacion del disco duro y acabo de comprar uno pero no puedo hacer funcionar a la lap por que no tengo discos de instalacion o recuperacion estaban en el disco duro que se daño.

Con respecto a donde se pueden conseguir los discos de recuperación del equipo. Si no tuvo la oportunidad de crear los discos de recuperación cuando se le mostró el mensaje en el equipo, y ya no es posible acceder a la partición de rescate, puede verificar si los discos están disponibles para su compra siguiendo las opciones de su país por medio del siguiente enlace:

Salve io ho un problema con l'ipad 16gb wifi, durante la visione di video di youtube, sia dall'applicazione "youtube" sia con safari, l'ipad si blocca, va in freeze. e devo intervenire con un Hard Reset.
Ho notato che lo fa guardando video anche dall'applicazione skytg24.
Solo guardando i video si blocca.
Ho spedito in assistenza l'ipad, ed ora mi contattano dicendomi che non c'è niente che non va nell'ipad e che funziona tutto.
Ma che test hanno fatto per non accorgersi del problema?
ora mi tengo l'ipad che non ha la possibilità di vedere video su youtube?
mi sembra un controsenso.

Ho avuto lo stesso problema e dopo la risistemazione ed il ristabilimento del iPad varie volte, lo ho fatto sostituire al deposito di Apple. Se potete fare sostituire il iPad, quello sarà voi migliore opzione.

Hi and welcome to the forums!
I don't read Spanish very well, but did you leave the Blackberry plugged in when you
rebooted the PC? Vista might have tried to used the BB as a drive for error checking or system functions.

MSI P67A-GD55 Blue Screen at Shut Down or changing users

Blue Screen happens at shut down, not always, sometimes frequently but later stabilizes for a while. Computer is stable when it is working, not sudden blue screen, only happens at shutting down.

The video card was changed, before was MSI R5570 MD1G but the behavior remains the same

IPhone and Windows 7 synch

For months I synched 4 iPhones with iTunes on Vista on a Dell Vostro 1500. Then I upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate in October and have had problems since.
Now the iPhone is never found by Windows (no iPhone digital camera icon in the Computer window).
The usbaapl.sys driver always installs and shows up in device manager as Apple Mobile Device USB Driver.
Sometimes the iPhone does show up as a device inside of iTunes. Sometimes then the 3GS iPhone can be synched in iTunes.
Sometimes the iPhone doesn’t show up as a device in iTunes and sometimes when it does, the synch fails.
Always, when I eject the iPhone from iTunes, Windows 7 tries to compete the installation of the iPhone as a camera USB device and the installation fails. The message is ‘device driver software was not directly installed. MTP USB Device. Device Unplugged.’

This problem is solved after spending many hours with Microsoft, Apple and Dell folks.
Now, all iPhones are recognized as a digital camera when connected and the AutoPlay window opens up. This allows for the transfer of pictures to a different folder.
Also, now my iPhone 3GS and three iPhone 2Gs all synch correctly with iTunes Windows 7.
The synching is no longer random, sometimes working and sometimes not. I am no longer told by Windows 7 after I disconnect the cable that the MTB USB device wasn’t installed and the installation failed.
What was the problem? Pictures! Pictures that had been saved (as opposed to having been taken by the iPhones) into the Camera Roll folder on the iPhones prior to the last iPhone software update. After these old saved pictures were removed, everything works fine. I ended up e-mailing them to myself and then deleting them. I don’t know if it is some or all of these pictures.
New saved pictures (after Windows 7 and iPhone version 3.1.2) don’t cause the problem and synch just fine.
I will post this in Microsoft Forums, Dell Forums and iPhone Forums (at Apple, the picture problem is known, but not that it interacts the way it does with Windows 7 so they need to escalate a fix).
This was in no way a Dell problem. That is a red herring.
