dsu1b:/var/adm ROOT >Hmm, if this was the first and last occourance of this message its probably safe to ignore it. If you have had it many times its about time that you start trouble shooting your SCSI chain; checking the cables, if possible move the disks to another controller/box etc.
The message basicly tells you that the system tried to communicate with the disks, but for some reason the command it sent to the disks was aborted.

Hello Guys, I'm trying to figure out if my harddrive is going bad in my system. I'm seeing a lot of SCSI transport error messages in the /var/adm/messages file. This only happens when our backups are running at night. We back up all our servers through the firewall using veritas's netbackup. Can someone help me sift thought this information in the messages file and let me know what all this means. Thanks

Dec 6 18:53:22 cp-hqc2 SCSI transport failed: reason 'timeout': retrying commandHello, data is not being backed up locally. This server is our firewall. We have multiple dmz zones on our firewall. One of our dmz's host's the veritas master server which backs up other web servers in other dmz zones. When the backups kick off at night, these messages appear in the /var/adm/messages file. Does this mean the firewall cannot handle the load of traffic??

Hi,
I am getting SCSI transport failed error on my Solaris 10 servers. iostat is reporting Hard & Transport errors.
I am able to access to lun and able to write data to it without any problem.
Questions:
1. what does this error mean?
2. could this impact the performance?
3. possible fix?

Thanks.it means that when the sun tried to send or recive data to the drive it could not. this could be cable or scsi controler. but the most likely proublem is your drive. i would get the data off and try a new drive be fore it fails.

Transport fails: reason u201Cinactive infoObj", but infoobj are "active"
Hi,
In the attempt to move some transport requests from Dev to Quality, Basis reports of some errors:
Error when checking the InfoObjectCatalog ZCCCCCCCCC
InfoObject ZXXXXXX is not available in active version
InfoObject ZYYYYYY is not available in active version
InfoObject ZPPPPPPPP is not available in active version
I went back to the infoobject maintenance view of each of these infoobjects and they all show:
Version: Active (Saved) and with the green square.
So, why is the transport log (se09) showing that these infoobjects are inactive, and hence preventing the move from Dev to Quality, while the objects are truly active?
Basis canu2019t move this request until this issue of inactive infoobjects are resolved but they are truly active. Any ideas on this
ThanksHi,
You are right, all the infoobjects which were reported as inactive, are now in the QA system as u201Cinactiveu201D. Some were entirely new objects and some were modified objects.
So now, what did you mean by saying
u201Cif they are inactive, you will have to transport them again & re-import the failed requestu201D
i) What do you mean by u201Ctransport them againu201D?
Just ask basis to move same Transport Request a second time? If so, what will be the difference between this new request and the previous one which failed? Wonu2019t this also fail?
ii) Or, do you mean to collect these infoobjects again under a different Transport Request number; release it and ask Basis to move this new requests to QA?
a) Also, what do you mean by u201Cre-import the failed requestu201D the failed request? Give the same failed transport request number to basis to transport?
b) So in a way, although the objects are u201Cactiveu201D in DEV, somehow, the Transport process deactivated them on their way to QA?
Do you therefore think BASIS caused this in their process to u201Cmoveu201D the objects to QA?

When in the design view of a JSF page, the page never renders in JDeveloper 12c. Instead I get an error message 'Loading failed Reason: Connection reset by server'. I traced this to a conflict with the port used by Cisco Anyconnect (5001) which seems to be something JDeveloper uses as well to render the page. Is there a way to change the port used to render the page in design mode? I could not find any settings in the preferences.
Hi Frank,
The proxy settings are set to use the system default proxy settings in JDev and I have not needed to change it when VPN'ed.
The product that is in conflict is the 'AnyConnect Web Security Agent' (acwebsecagent.exe) which runs whether I am on vpn or am in the office - it is listening on port 5001 and that is the same port jdev64w.exe is listening to when rendering the page in the design mode. I confirmed this using netstat -ab. After getting the conflicting program switched off temporarily, the design mode of the page was rendered within the IDE so that I could then drop components on the design surface.
Since I cannot get the Cisco product to listen on a different port, I am hopeful there is a way to modify the port used by JDev.
Thanks,
Sunil -
SSRS: Failure sending mail: The transport failed to connect to the server.
I run SSRS and email reports using SMTP service on a Windows Server 2008 R2 box. This has been working for months and stopped today around noon.
I have checked all SMTP settings and verified they are correct. I can send an email from SQL Server Management Studio, using SMTP service with no trouble.
Now in SSRS I am getting this message:
Failure sending mail: The transport failed to connect to the server.
I have read every link when I google this message or type it into bing.com; yet cannot find a reason why SSRS has suddenly stopped emailing my reports.
I have restarted the server in question, I have changed account names, I have changed passwords, yet nothing is working.
I even approached our senior dba about it and he has never seen this happen.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?
Thank you,
JessicaThank you JJordheim.
IDS is not an issue. Neither is the Windows Firewall on the server. I actually turned it off while troubleshooting to make sure it was not causing the issue.
SSRS and my SMTP Virtual service are on the same server. I am running the SMTP service through IIS. I even created a new SMTP Service to test with. No luck.
My rsreportserver.config file looks fine, or at least it does to me. Posted below:

Hi Experts,
My Transports through Solution Manager is failing in Production PI. Transports are imported, deployed successfully in Test and Regression environments and working fine. Transport requests are of type Workbench and we are attaching '.tpz' files as Non abap objects. All contain ESR objects, no ID components. Import and Check version steps are good but failing at Deployment step in Production PI.
Please find the log which I can see in SE10. All the transports failed with the same below error description.

Thanks,
Nabendu.Hi,
I have already informed Basis about these. But do we have any way to check the exact reason for this failure?
All the above points can ensure the successful transport to Production or not, I am not sure.
Thanks,

Failed to reset target mailbox
Hello, moving mailboxes to a 2010 server to another one in a different forest, for some mailboxes gives " completed with warning" with log below. Some mailboxes move complete with success. Need a clean-mailboxdatabase to be able to access
the mailboxes with warning. What could be the cause ? Thanks

29/07/2014 13:08:12 [CASHUB01] Request is complete.Hi,
Based on the description, the mailboxes moved successfully with warning seems normal, is it right?
What's your Exchange version?
I searched and found that the issue you experienced with moving mailbox is a known issue in Exchange 2010 SP2 RU3. I recommend you install the latest rollups.
If your Exchange version is Exchange 2010 SP3 or later, please check if there is any issue about AD replication. By default, moving mailbox in the same site, the homeMDB attribute change will be replicated to all DCs immediately. But the inter-site is 15
minutes.
If the issue persists, please check if there is any related events in the application log.
Best regards,
Belinda

Out of the box approval workflow suddenly failed on start (retrying)
SharePoint 2010. I've been using out of the box approval workflow for several month now. I did some minor changes to it, like to who and when emails should be send, but that's all.
Then out of a sudden it stopped working. New request status is "Failed on start (retrying)". Sometimes (!) status is "In Progress", but no tasks are created. In both cases there is nothing on workflow history and error report is also empty
(it even cause an error "Report contains no data").
I'm sure that I didn't change anything in a workflow. The only think that I changed was an InfoPath form, but I only added there field "Created By", so I would see in calendar later who created this request. I couldn't see how this might affect workflow
process.
I'm confused as I don't even know where to start searching for the solution. Why this might happen? Any ideas are very welcome! In my list I have a multiple choice field which is not required. When it was
blank my workflow was failing on start! This field was not involved in a workflow directly, I included it only in the email to approver. When I deleted it from an email everything was fine. -
Install from SCSI CD fails: ERROR: boot device didn't show up after 30
I have a x86 based server w/SCSI HD and DVD drive.
Install fails with following.
Waiting 30 seconds for device /dev/disk/by-label/ARCH_201108
ERROR: boot device didn't show up after 30 seconds
Falling back to interactive prompt
You can try to fix the problem manually, logout when you are finished
sh: can't access tty; job contro turned off
[ramfs /]#
I hooked up a IDE DVD drive and using same CD installs OK. Then, once installed, I switch my DVD back to SCSI that failed the install, and guess what? Arch booted from my HD now recognizes the SCSI DVD drive, I can mount it and so on. Looks to me like the install kernel doesn't support my SCSI DVD drive but the installed kernel does.
I need the Arch install to work from the SCSI DVD drive on my system. I'm trying to develop an Arch distro for my particular system, which there are about a dozen of in the field, they all have SCSI DVD and no IDE drives. Will I have to add a SCSI driver to the boot kernel? Or is my problem something else?
I notice there is no /dev/disk/by-label (ther is a /dev/disk/by-id by-label and by-uuid).
I do a:
"[ramfs /]# lsmod | grep sr_mod"
sr_mod 14951 0
cdrom 36329 1 sr_mod
scsi_mod 131482 7 sg,sr_mod,sd_mod,libata,mptspi,mptscsih,scsi_transport_spi
[ramfs /]# lsmod | grep scsi
mptscsih 20040 1 mptspi
mptbase 63459 2 mptspi,pmtscsih
scsi_transport_spi 20059 1 mptspi
scsi_mod 131482 7 sg,sr_mod,sd_mod,libata,mptspi,mptscsih,scsi_stransport_spiscrath "I notice there is no /dev/disk/by-label (ther is a /dev/disk/by-id by-label and by-uuid)."
Should be: I notice there is no /dev/disk/by-label (there is a /dev/disk/by-id by-path and by-uuid). -
my creative cloud downloaded and so did PS but now its saying there is an error...update failed and im retrying it but its not working what do i do?
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If you've already tried a complete uninstall and reinstall try opening iTunes in safe mode (hold down CTRL+SHIFT as you start iTunes) then going to Edit > Preferences > Storeand turning off Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. You may find iTunes will now start normally.

My Ipod has been disconnected from the internet. All efforts to date have failed, including resetting my network settings and trying to log in again.
Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tends to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Read from socket failed: Connection reset by peer
On Solaris 10 SPARC I have NO problem with establishing SSH connections.
Here is proof:
# svcs -a | grep ssh
online Jun_02 svc:/network/ssh:default...but here is what can be found in /var/adm/messages
Jun 7 04:09:16 my_host sshd[11701]: [ID 800047 auth.crit] fatal: Read from socket failed: Connection reset by peerTHIS IS IMPORTANT!!!
This messages does not appear during I establish my ssh connection. It appears irregular.
Does anyone know whats going on ?Hi Darren,
that would make sense but I just made a test:
I have opened tail -f /var/adm/messages and from other host:
- telnet to it on port 22 - no message
- closed client during establishing connection - still no message
But I belive you must be right as I see no other possibility...
Can I turn on more detailed logger in message to be able to see IP address of all host who are trying SSH connection ?
