Dell student changing to a Mac student

I am a current Dell user and I am looking to become a Macbook user. I am a student, and still have a few years of school left. I am not picky with screensize (11 inches vs. 13 inches vs. 15 inches); however I am stuck between the Macbook Air and the Macbook Pro. I am not looking for anything over-the-top fancy or has lots of bells and whistles, but I am interested in making sure that I choose a laptop that is best for students. Along with ensuring that my laptop comes with all the nessecary (and recommended) equipment and accessories for college students.

Well, it all depends. With a Macbook Pro, you will have the power you need to do anything from typeing a simple essay, to doing a 3d model on your mac. The "long lasting battery" that will last up to 7 hours is only gonna last that long if your internet browseing, so it would be around 5 hrs (for typeing, watching movies, listening to songs, etc), 2 hrs for gaming. If you get the Macbook Pro, you won't be disappointed at all. This Macbook has little heating (unless if your gaming).
But, unless if your not going to do much the mac (just writing, charting, listening to music, internet browseing, etc) Then the Macbook Pro would not be worth the price, Then you should get a Macbook Air instead. Like i said before, don't be fooled by the long lasting battery they posted on the website. It will only last about 10 hrs which is still pretty long. You won't be able to do any gaming or modeling on this laptop, it was only made for the small things. The Macbook Air also has a smaller chassis, so you can expect more heat coming from the laptop then the Macbook Pro.
I have a Macbook Pro, and my little brother has a air (he's in high school). He doesn't do much on it so it was the best choice for him.

Thank you Roger, your solution gave me the courage to sign out of Systems Preferences. The pop up told me it was going to delete my contact and other information from my mac, so I was hesitant to do that. Well I did as you directed and I was able to sign in with my new apple id and I did not lose the information the pop up threatened I was going to. So again thank you. It is the little things that make a big difference sometimes.

I recently changed from a Mac Pro to an iMac. A large chunk of emails have disappeared. Time Machine is no help. Any ideas as to how I can get them back?

I recently changed from a Mac Pro to an iMac. Despite using Migration Assistant, a large chunk of my recent emails and nearly all of my wife's emails have disappeared in transit. Strangely, emails from my distant past are still there. Time Machine is no help; the messages may be on my backup disc but they're behind an invisible icon. Any ideas as to how I can get them back?

Quit Mail. Force quit if necessary.
Back up all data. That means you know you can restore the Mail database, no matter what happens.
Triple-click the text on the line below to select it:
~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/Envelope Index
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens (command-V), then press return.
A Finder window will open with a file selected. Move the selected file to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Other files in the folder may have names that begin with "Envelope Index". Move those files, if any, to the Trash.
Log out and log back in. Relaunch Mail. It should prompt you to re-import your messages. You may get a warning that the index is corrupt and that Mail has to quit. Click OK.
Test. If Mail now works as expected, you can delete the file you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, post your results.

tried on a different mac. The same problem exists.
If that is the case, its extremely unlikely you have a bad USB cable on the seagate, rather as I mentioned earlier a bad SATA bridge card.
If the Seagate 1TB USB external wont open on either Mac and youve verified same (try a diff. USB cable if you have one however this is nearly never the case),....then to get the data off that HD (unless it is dead which is also extremely unlikely),......then you would need to extract the HD from its case and insert same into either a HD dock or USB HD enclosure.
8 out of 10 seemingly dead inopperable 1-3+ year old external HD are perfectly fine, rather the cheap 50 cent SATA bridge card fries and dies (alas)

I am afraid the only (legal) way is to buy it second hand with a licence transfer through Adobe, from someone that has not used CS5.5 for any kind of upgrading (including a discount on CC).

you are not going to connect the FireWire cable - you are only going to connect the monitor

En cherchant un peu, j'ai trouvé ceci sur les pages du support d'Adobe.
Toutes les configurations de produits, à l’exception des offres OEM, peuvent
faire l’objet d’un échange de plateforme ou de langue.
La page de l'aide semble dater de la CS2 mais c'est toujours en ligne!

I just solved my problem based on the clues given by the 2 responses I recieved. I realized that I do indeed have Snow Leapord and it was as easy as grabbing the margin bar at the base of the mail display screen and locking the crosshairs on the bar and dragging it up to the north if you will and the bottom pane was then once again revealed. I guessing my kids mucked it up. Thanks for the support.
