Dell UZ2315H, skype auto mutes the microphone

Hello,
I bought new Dell UZ2315H monitor, which included a webcam and a microphone internally. For the speakers the HDMI cable is connected to the pc and for the webcam and microphone there is a usb cable connected to the pc.  Now is this solution very promising, and I am able to use the microphone in other programs perfectly, but when I try to use the microphone with Skype, it mutes the microphone so no one can hear me. The strange thing that happens is that the mute LED on the monitor itself turns on (so this means the microphone is off), but my windows and skype settings tell me that the microphone is not muted. This only happens when I use Skype. Is there a solution for this problem?
Kind regards,  K

can anyone help?

How do I mute the Microphone on a MacBook Air?
I am using a converting program and a USB turntable to convert my vinyl record to CD for my personal use.  During the recording session, environmental noise/room noise gets recorded at the same time via the built in microphone.  Is there anyway to mute this microphone or disable it?  I could do that on my old Toshiba with its Window program.

Turn the input volumn down all the way for the Mic. You do that in the Sound Applet In System Preferences.

  • Dell vostro a860, headphones mute the speaker but no sound

    Hello all,
I just installed latest arch, updated to the latest. Using ALSA for sound.
Everything works fine, just when I plug in the headphones - they mute the speakers - but no sound in the headphones.
    The headphones work for sure.
alsamixer -> everything there is unmuted and volume raised to 100.
The laptop is dell vostro a860, sound chipset: HDA Intel Conexant CX20561 (Hermosa).
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Ivo

If you are using hda-intel audio driver, try adding
    options snd-hda-intel model=
followed by one of this model name in your /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf.
For example you can try with "options snd-hda-intel model=auto" and the if it doesn't work try another one that can match with you card model.

  • Can I mute the microphone during video recording

I am trying to take video of a real estate property and I do not need to collect the audio - in fact I do not want any audio captured - can I mute the micrphone while taking vido?
    Thanks

Not with the stock Camera app.  Camera Plus allows you to turn off audio.  Other camera apps probably do as well.

  • Skype Auto adjusts the mic even with the option un...

Everytime I start a game and I'm on Skype with my girlfriend, my mic blows her ears out.
This isn't even just starting up a game for the first time, if I'm playing a game like Heroes of the Storm, every time we start a new game, the mic will auto adjust itself to the loudest possible setting.
I have unchecked the mic's auto adjust propery and it still does it.
I have gone into windows and unchecked the box to allow applications to take control of my mic.
I have gone into regedit and copy-pasted a solution that was supposed to stop this from happening as well.
This bug is incredibly annoying and I will stop using Skype if it continues. I don't want a program that takes over my mic because it knows better than me what volume it needs to be at.
Anyone have any clue what the heck is going on and how to fix it?

    Hi,
I take it you mean Microphone Enabled is Ticked in the video Menu ?
And that the Mic in System Preferences > Sound > Input matches the one in iChat Preferences (Video Section) and that the bar moves in both places ?
In the iChat Preferences > Video section change the Bandwidth Limit to read 500kbps as a starting point.
iChat 5 "sees" your Internet Speed differently from iChat 4 and earlier and there may be greater speed differences between your Buddies now.
Open the Connection Doctor during a Chat and compare the Bit Rates an Frame rates.
Try both ends on 500 kbps.
Then when the Bit rates look settled adjust one end at a time upwards, allowing the Connection Doctor to settle again. (The slowness of change is the iChat Buffering taking effect).

  • Cannot get the microphone to work in MSN/Skype

Hi all,?I'm completely stuck on how to get the microphone working with my X-Fi card and MSN/Skype etc. If I uncheck (in playback) the microphone box, I can hear the mic output through the speakers. But no software appears to be able to detect anything from the mic. I'm sure it is just a simple check box I am missing but I cannot for the life of me find it. As the writing says under my nick - I'm a newb!?Please help ?[size="">Config:[size="">Intel Core 2 Duo Extreme X6800 CPU, 4Gb DDR2 RAM, Asus P5N32-SLI mainboard,?3 x 500Gb SATA II hard dri'ves, Sony AW-G70AB2 DVD-RW dri've, 2 x GeForce 7950GX2 VGA Cards, SoundBlaster X-Fi Fatalty FPS sound card, Windows XP x64 Edition

    >Ok we know your mic playback it on ( in most cases you want to mute this cause it fri'ves you mad in msn hearing yourself ) but not importan at this time
Dri'ves me completely insane! But for testing purposes it is a necessary evil
    >Question - is the Mic REC volume set to zero or mute. With my Elite i just go into Entertain mode and in the console under MIXER on the far right is microphone REC. If this is at the bottom move it up and your green MSN bar will move.
It was half way up. I moved it all the way to the top but it made no difference.
    >If this is already up then we have to think again. I did notice that when I go through the audio test under MSN, it now mutes the microphone for some reason. Manually unchecking the mute box makes no difference though - I can hear myself but MSN can't.

  • Can I mute internal microphone?

I can find how to turn down the volume on the internal mike but cannot find how to mute it completely? Is it possible to mute the microphone? It would be helpful when using Skype, etc.
    Thanks

If you want try going to Utilities>Audio Midi Setup
In here if you choose the built in microphone as your default input.
Then in the bottom right there is a master slider marked M. Tick the mute box. This is another way if you want to mute the mic for anything else apart from skype.

I am working on video streaming application for Windows 8 and facing some problem when trying to mute microphone and unmute microphone.
I am trying to mute the microphone with changing the mic.gain value to 0 and unmuting the same by changing the gain value with its default value i.e. 50, but its not audible when unmuting. and after unmuting when tried with opening the flash player settings panel and doing little change in echo settings there then it starts working fine. So each time I have to do changes in settings panel after unmute. activity level in that case also goes to 0. Please help with the problem.

  • How to disable auto mute in pulseaudio?

I'm going to listen to some music with my computer from my phone via Bluetooth, so I have to use pulseaudio, but I have a problem. My laptop's sound system is so weird, it must have Headphone and Speaker both un-muted in alsamixer to make internal speaker having sound, So I comment "load-module module-switch-on-port-available" in /etc/pulse/default.pa, this stopped mute/un-mute headphone/speaker when I plug in/unplug my earphone, but pluseaudio auto mute the Headphone and set volume to 0 every time when I reboot he computer(the Speaker is set as fallback in pavcontrol), I have to un-mute it and increase volume from alsamixer so that internal speaker can have sound, so is there any way to stop pusleaudio auto muting?

    Anyone got any ideas?

I have an iPad 1st generation that no longer has working volume buttons but every once in a while the sound turns on.  So I know the speakers still work.  I have tried resetting all settings and made sure that my side switch was auto lock not auto mute. I have tried the mystical swiping upward on the screen with 4 fingers to get some special sound menu (which I never succeeded in getting).  My headphone jack doesn't work all the time either so some times my kids can hear their games and sometimes they can't.  I am super frustrated at this point.  So any suggestions would be great.  Am I missing something basic or do we just have a soundless iPad now?

  • Mute the backing track during auto punch rehearsal

    Hi
How do I mute the backing track during auto punch rehearsal?
While I'm rehearsing the punch-in I only want to hear the audio before and after the 'auto punch-in', but not during the punch-in itself - i.e. I want the punch-in region to be silent while I'm rehearsing.
    Can you help?
    regards

    Hi Sambodhi Prem
You could simply makes two cuts on the audio region you are using as your backing track and press M to mute the middle region.

  • Alsa: how to controll the auto mute feature?

    Hi,
I have a slight problem with my laptop.
I have a headphone jack, a analogue volume control wheel and my normal speakers.
What I like to have is this:
Plug in headphones => sound only from headphones
No headphones plugged => sound from main speakers (I do not care if sound is still put onto the headphone jack as I would not here it one way or the other)
Right now, this is not working out of the box.
Plugging in my headphones mutes the speakers, great, but it does not unmute my headphones so I hear nothing until I go into alsamixer and unmute my headphones.
This would not be a problem but once I unplug my headphones, alsa mutes them. Ergo, everytime I unplug and plug my headphone I have to unmute them in the alsa mixer.
Can someone tell me where I can controll this behaviour to fix this?
I have seen multiple entries for pulseaudio (which I am not usign right now) or references to a auto-mute button in alsamixer which I do not seem to have in mine.
    With best regards,
    p90

@nomorewindows See if the same happens with power_save and power_save_controller parameters set to 0.
@p90 did you try replugging twice or more times? One more thing you can try is to run 'alsactl store' before plugging headphones in with speakers outputting sound, then after unplugging run 'alsactl restore'. You can use -f switch, see the manual.

  • Skype on iPad mini doesn't work as the app is not requesting the microphone

I'm running the latest version of Skype on an iPad mini with the latest version of IOS 8. The problem is that Skype won't request access to the microphone, meaning that I can't grant it access.

The ' and " are alternate selections for those keys. If you press and hold on those keys you will see those choices.
Apparently, when you are typing, you are holding the keys down too long and getting the alternates.
