Dell VRTX to Cisco C3750G trunked LAG

I've got my Dell VRTX all setup and running. We bought extra NICs to map each blade into our segregated iSCSI network so it can communicate with the existing SAN for migration and that is all working.
I followed the instructions and configured a LAG on the Dell switch for external ports 1-4. I then applied the VLANs to the LAG group.
On the network side, I have a Cisco C375G switch stack with switches 1 and 2 as the redundant config for the servers. I've got port 1/0/3 setup in a standard trunk mode with the appropriate VLANs and I can communicate with my VM servers running on the VRTX via external port 1. However, I'm having issues getting a LAG configured on the Cisco so I can match the 4 LAG ports on the VRTX for better throughput.
Does anyone know how to do this?

    for the trunk port on Catalyst on port GE 1/0/45, we need to enable the trunk and for on encapsulation dot1q because this catalyst model is ISL capable also and the SF300 working only with Dot1q Encapsultion
    The configuration on catalyst should :

    I have a dell vrtx chassis with built in switch. How do I configure the nexus 7k port to connect the switch module to it?

    We can have a Nexus 7k VPC pair with CB3020 HP Blade Center switches attached through  a VPC group.

  • LACP from S11.1/Dell PE610 to Cisco 2960

    Hi,
    I am running S11.1 on a Dell PE610. I can't seem to get LACP link aggregation to work between these two. I have configured a port-channel in trunk mode along with 4 member links and I configured the aggregate in S11.1 like this:
    dladm create-aggr -L passive -l bnx0 -l bnx1 -l bnx2 -l bnx3 such as that dladm show-aggr results in the following:
    LINK              MODE  POLICY   ADDRPOLICY           LACPACTIVITY LACPTIMER
    aggr0             trunk L4       auto                 passive      short
    That seems pretty good to me, but the LACP actually doesen't seem to sync up with the switch, as the port-channel doesn't come up, although the links themselves do come up fine.
    I was wondering, if this is maybe some driver or firmware issue with the Broadcom chipset, as I did not had any issue configuring a LACP aggr using a DP Intel adapter. When I configure the debug for lacp on the cisco no lacp packets seem to be received from the S11.1 box.
    Anybody having any experience with this?

    2) I hope your default route should be pointing to ISP router..So ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 192.168.2.0 is correct? Try changing this as below

  • Uplink between Stacked Dell 8132 and Cisco 1921 HSRP pair.

    Hello,
    I have three Dell 8132 switches stacked and we plan on connecting them to an HSRP pair of Cisco 1921 routers. What would be the best way to uplink these stacked switches to the 1921 pair? 
    I was thinking of creating vlan trunk from 2 of the 3 Dell switches, one trunk going to each router and enable HSRP on these trunks for the vlans I need to route. Would that be a good approach?
    Attached is a basic network of what it would look like. Please suggest if this is a good way to accomplish this or if there is a more better and efficient way to do it?

    Just to clarify I wasn't suggesting that you move all the routing to the Dell switches. If the routers are already doing some routing for you then you could simply connect the Dell switches with L3 uplinks.
    But yes if you feel more comfortable using Cisco then use the routers.
    I have never used an integrated switch module to be honest, I just used L3 switches and routers separately.
    I suspect it would work as long as there was a backplane connection between the switch module and the router itself so you could route directly from the switch module to the router.
    Can't say for sure whether there is or not as like I say I have never used them.
    Which to use really comes down to how much bandwidth you need between vlans which only you know really. If you think using one interface and splitting it up may cause problems then you could look at a switch module.
    Although it does seem a bit redundant purchasing a switch module when you have L3 switches already :-)
    But I do understand what you mean about being a Cisco shop.

  • Cisco 2950 trunk s shutdown problem

    i have a network on fiber.i have use cisco 2950 switches in that topolgy.my problem is that sometimes the trunk ports automatically shutdown which creates a lot of problem.when the ports shutdown the cpu usage of switch goes to 66.normally it remains at 30.secondly i give redunant path to every vlan and now the vlan spanning tree has stopped because cisco 2950 doesnot support more than 64 stp.
    What could be the problem?or iam thinking about the bandwidth..How much bandwidth does cisco 2950 switch can max carry?

    If the trunk port went into shutdown, then there's gotta be a reason why.
    Can you post the output to the command "sh post" particularly the time when the port went "down"?

  • Catalyst 2960 - IBM/Cisco IGESM - Trunk port configuration

    I am new in Cisco world and try to configure a trunk between a Catalyst 2960 switch and a IBM Blade Center IGESM switch (manifactured by Cisco).
    Unfortunately, it seems that the network traffic doesn't cross the trunk link.
    I have followed (at least, I think so) the instructions given on the different Cisco documentation papers but I can't find the mistake in my configuration (lack of experience :-( !).

    For my test, I try to ping a blade (connected to IGESM) in VLAN 200 from a workstation connected to Catalyst 2960 (in VLAN 200 too). From a network anaylser (ethereal), I can see the ARP broadcast from each side but none are going across the trunk link.
    I am a bit lost about this problem and would be grateful for any assistance in solving it!

    Hi Glen!
    Both switches (Catalyst 2960 & IGESM) are brand new and most ports are still reflecting manufacturer's default configuration. Vlan 2 is the default native vlan for IGESM ports (excluding ports used for switch management which use vlan 1 as most Cisco switches).
    I changed the native vlan for g0/5 on IGESM to 200. Now, ports g0/5 (access mode) and g0/20 (trunk mode) are on native vlan 200. On g0/5 is installed Windows 2003 instance (firewall disabled). The only purpose is to receive and send ping request to test connectivity.
    My workstation is connected to 2960 switch on port fa0/1 (please find the configuration below). I can successfully ping other vlan 200 machines connected on the same switch. For testing purpose, I try to ping the blade machine connected on port g0/5 on IGESM.

  • Cisco Linksys E1000 - Lag Spike about every 10 seconds.

    Hello,
    Hopefully this is the right place to ask such a question. I recently purchased a Cisco Linksys router, as I was having problems with the main connection and my computer. The router works almost fine and acts as a bridge between the original router, and my computer.
    I have a Westell Versalink plugged into the DSL phone cord. The Versalink is connected to my Cisco router, and the Cisco router is connected to my computer... All using cables.
    Basically, it's Versalink -> Cisco -> Computer.
    It works almost great, except I keep receiving huge lag spikes every 10 seconds, when trying to run something that requires a constant connection. (In my case, a game. It will lag every 10 seconds.)
    I'm not sure I setup the Cisco router to properly work the way I want it to, thus the lag.
    It used to be far worse, but I setup the PPoP login on the Cisco router independent of the fact that it's already connected on the Versalink.
    I need some advice on how to eliminate this lag so I can get a steady and smooth connection.
    Before anyone starts giving me Wireless advice, this has NOTHING to do with the Wireless portion, that works fine. (But probably would experience the same lag.)
    This is happening regardless, and I need it fixed.
    Yet again, I'll type out my layout here:
    DSL / Phone -> Versalink -> Cisco Router -> Computer
    I believe the problem exists in the Cisco router. I'm amazed that I was even able to get it to work how I did to begin with. However, I need some additional help.

    I would do a little more research on the internet regarding ALL Cisco Linksys routers... the issue you are seeing is normal of thier routers right now.. and one they have not been willing to fix... The Linksys router you have ... in reality is actually the WRT160N with a few tweaks in the firmware... If you look at the specs, the E1000 is not the best router to play your video games with or HD Movies... you really wanted the E3000
    BUT .... that also has that same issue as well but more pronounced... as well as over heating... if you take your router off you will see the lag goes away.

  • Need Information of cisco WLC 5508 LAG Interface

    We have cisco WLC 5508 in our network and right now ,this WLC is connected to two ports of each core switches.Both CORP and GUEST SSID are configured on this WLC.
    Now we want to segregate the trafffic og GUEST to on core switches from WLC. SO my question is ,how can we achieve this without using guest anchor controller ?
    Can i use one interfcae cisco WLC 5508 and connect it to the firewall or any device ?

  • Set up cisco SGE2010 combined with Dell 6248 switch

    Hi, I have currently a Dell powerconnect 6248 switch combined with a netgear UTM router. I have a basic understanding on how things should work but I don't have the knowledge to apply it as I'm new to setting up vlan and the person before me did the basic configuration like this:
    defined 5 VLAN in the netgear router
    defined the same 5 VLAN in the dell 6248
    connected the dell switch to the netgear router via a trunk port.
    Right now all the inter vlan traffic pass thru the netgear router as the dell switch as a trunk port connected to the netgear box who then give dhcp and set himself as the default inter vlan route. I would like to stop that since I would like the cisco switch to handle all the vlan routing for both switch and those switch to send their dhcp request to my win2k8 server.
    I did set the sge2010 in layer 3 mode from the small business telnet interface. I then setup the same 5 vlan in the cisco switch.
    If I understand this well I need to define an IP address for each vlan interface on the cisco switch for it to be able to route things, I have set them all as x.x.x.3 (x.x1.3 vlan 1, x.x.2.3 vlan2, etc) Then I need both swtich to forward all dhcp request to my dhcp box wich is in vlan 2. My DHCP server will have 5 range of IP address to hand out. my server are connected directly to the dell switch on vlan 2. I have set up a port in the dell switch in trunk mode and did the same thing in the cisco switch and connected them togheter to send all vlan packet. The current setup doesn't work so I need some help to finalize that setup so that everything works.
    If you need detail that I might have forgot to mention I wll gladly provide them.

    For future reference, I finally succeeded in setting up everything the way I wanted it to be. I enabled layer 3 routing on the sge2010 switch, defined IP for each vlan interface, defined DHCP scope with vlan interface ip as the gateway. Added the ip-helper ip of the dhcp server on the sge2010, I defined 1 of the port on the cisco to trunk mode and added all vlan to it. I then defined all the same vlan on the Dell swith, added the ip helper address of the dhcp server for each vlan on the dell switch, defined a port on the dell swith in trunk mode and added all the vlan to it, connected both swith with an ethernet cable via the trunk port on each side and voilà all is working good. I finally had to define a static route in the cisco switch of 0.0.0.0 mask 0.0.0.0 with the ip of my internet firewall to gain internet access on both switch.

    I am trying to Cascade a cisco 2950 and dell powerconnect 5224. I am connecting port 32 on the 2950 and port 24 (gigport) on the dell. Any idea on how I can get the cascading to work? This is what I have on the Dell and the cisco.

    Try this instead:

    You don't need "switchport access vlan 10" on the Cisco because it's not in access mode, it's in trunk mode. And on the Dell you don't want vlan 1 to be tagged and untagged.

    i am trying to disable the LAG feature to be able to access the ports, but i am issuing the command

    Incorrect usage.  Use the '?' or <TAB> key to list commands.

    from a pre-sales prospective how do you justify changing to Cisco, and more importantly, from a TECHNICAL prospective do we convince the customer to change or leave?

    In terms of implementation and operation: if you follow the separate VLANs for voice and data model - which you probably should - you will have to manually set the correct VLAN on every phone in the phone settings. phones use CDP to discover voice VLAN. I've done a deployment with non-Cisco switches such as this, and it definately slows things down. Of course you don't want to hurt any feelings, but... there is a reason Dell was giving away their switches for free a few years back. I like to save money too, but I wouldn't stake my business on running critical infrastructure this level of switch.

  • Cisco Aironet 3502i and Virtual Wireless Controller- Question

    Hello everyone,
    As soon, I purchased two Cisco 3502i and Cisco 1142 however, two issue are that I don't have controller and smartnet. As my purpose, it using for Home Use but house with 2,500 Sq ft with two floor and new 24x24ft garage with two floor. I put two Cisco 3502i for garage and one cisco 1142 in house on second floor. Separated for multi media, gaming, streaming high resolution video, parts, and downloads programmings online. It will run with Cisco Catalyst Express 500 with 24 ports (4 POE) and two gigabit ports. In house, it have Dell Poweredge 2850, Cisco Catalyst Express 500 with 24 ports POE and 2 ports gigabit.
    I thought to make my own developing with my first time using Wireless Controller. I wanted to try out with Virtual WLC on Dell Poweredge 2850 running ESXi 4.1.
    Specs for Dell Poweredge 2850:
    - 2x Intel Xeon Dual Core 3.8 GHz
    - 4GB RAM (Will upgrade to 12GB soon)
    - 2x 146GB and 2x 36GB SCSI
    - 2x 1 Gbps built in and 4x 1 Gbps PCI-X
    Developing with Untangle and pfSense to make it support with LADP and VLAN to both Cisco Express 500 using 4 gbps PCI-X. I have read the requipment list to use Virtual WLC but it seem met the requipment for my 2850. If someone offer me to get Virtual WLC and IOS from their, I accept to "borrow" it. I do go college which is Rochester Institute of Technology at New York and my major is Applied Computer Technology. I live here at Hampton Road, Virginia. Just in case if you might know about RIT. I just start to learning myself with Cisco books.
    I have a question:
    - Is there possible to get trial or full version of Virtual WLC?
    - Is there possible to get Lightweight or Autonomous IOS for Cisco 1142 and 3502i?
    -  Does it supported Dell PowerEdge 2850?
    - Does 3502i support Autonomous? (Not actually but I have researched around online about that it will work with 1262's IOS)

    No.  You will need a SmartNet contract (or a freshly purchased device) to obtain software from cisco.  Nobody will provide this to you.

    Cisco doesn't go in to great detail regarding the actual Hardware requirements of the vWLC (as far as ESX Host requirements).  Primarily, making sure you are running ESX 4.x/5.x is necessary.  The vWLC provisions 2Gb of RAM and 8GB of thick provisioned storage, so if your host can accomodate I don't see any reason it wouldn't work.
    - Does 3502i support Autonomous? (Not actually but I have researched around online about that it will work with 1262's IOS)
    Yes, with the latest versions of IOS 15.2(2)JB, full functionality in autonomous can be achieved on the 1550, 3500, and 3600 series APs
