Dell Webcam Central Won't Open?

I was trying to open my webcam earlier but after opening up, it would say there was an error that's preventing it from working and it would close. I uninstalled Dell Webcam Central but I couldn't reinstall it because the Dell Downloads would get stuck on "Examining your computer please wait..." for hours.
Then I restored my computer to the moment before I uninstalled Dell Webcam Central so I could at least have it on my computer. Now, it doesn't open at all. When I click on it, the webcam light turns on for a second and then turns off and nothing else happens.
I keep trying to run diagnostic tests on the Dell support site but the tests never finish, they get stuck on the second to last step. I tried running the quick 10 minute test and it was stuck there for over 40 minutes.
I have an Inspiron 14R (N4110, Early 2011)

Hi Jasmin,
Good work on troubleshooting. I would suggest you to update the BIOS on the computer. Please enter your service tag # on the link below, then download the BIOS required onto the system and install it.

Also, you can download Support Assist from the link below and run the PC CHECKUP on the Camera to check for issues

Please let me know if this helps.

  • Looking for DELL Webcam Central software and the webcam software updates

My laptop is DELL XPSM1530. I read that the webcam was made by Creative Technology.
Recently, I read in DELL.com that there is a software named DELL Webcam Central.
It was said that it can improve the camera performance.
I have looked for it in DELL.com but I did not found it and I also have looked it here but I got nothing.
Where can I get it? Is it the same as Webcam Manager / Webcam Central that has been installed in my laptop here?
And if it the same, where can I have the software updates?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
You will stand a better chance getting in touch with Dell, the download site here does not offer the mentioned webcam software.

  • Dell Webcam Central Download for Vista

I am unable to get download this software after following Dell's Instructions on their website.
Just recovered one of my older computers from a bad crash and would like to get this up and running.  Does anyone know where I can get a direct download for my XPS one a2010?
I don't know why Dell is making it so hard to get software that they provided with my computer originally.  They should have provided this on one of the disks that they sent with my system.

    Hello,
I am a little confused with the first sentence, did you mean
you are not able to install the software or you meant ""couldn't find the software""??
    Please find the drivers below.

  • Device Central won't open after upgrade

On MacBook Pro runnining 10.4.10. After downloading device
upgrade and Flash 3 upgrade program will not open at all.
The splash screen displays, then the alert: The application
    Adobe Device Central quit unexpectedly.
    Any ideas anyone?

    Nigel and illergeek,
Have either of you opened Adobe Support cases for this issue?
I'd like to follow up with you directly, and opening a case is
usually the best way. You may also send me contact info directly to
(bewolfe at adobe dot com). But a case number is easier to track
(and lots easier to lose track of. :) )
You can open a Support webcase here:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/
(be sure to open a support case, not a customer service
case). Then please reply back with your case number.

  • Problem w/ Dell webcam monitor

I bought a Dell SP2008 LCD ws monitor w/ webcam recently, but my Mac Mini (running Parallel 3.0 & XP Home) has problem using the webcam. I spent 4 hours w/ the tech. guy at Dell, & he concluded that the chipset & audio drivers of the Mac Mini need to be updated/upgraded. His conclusion is based on the fact that the XP fails to update the chipset & audio drivers. I check the Support page of Apple but couldn't find any chipset or audio drivers download. Does anyone have the same problem as me? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

I personally don't use Dell Webcam Central.  With my onboard dell camera lighting is always an issue when compared to my external cameras.  There may be a setting in the software that might be adjusting the lighting that doesn't come across when using it in Skype.  I also know that most onboard cameras have a poor ISO level.  You might want to try the generic Microsoft drivers to see if conditions change.   They have worked with my Dell onboard camera especially when the current drivers aren't fully compatible with Windows 8.x  I have used either successfully in Windows 7.

  • Transferring docs from DELL to Macbook pro, some files got corrupted or won't open.

I got my mcbpro with os lion and i transferred all of my documents from my DELL laptop on an external harddrive, however i can open some jpgs and word docs and others won't open giving: Item “NAME.JPG” is used by Mac OS X and can’t be opened.
Also, one folder that had all of my school docs is completely blank, and I have it backedup.
I do have the necessary apps to open these docs (for example office for mac, and preview for jpgs) and I can also open some word docs and jpg images I have so I dont really understand why those ones won't be opened.

    http://www.macworld.com/article/153952/2010/09/superguide_switchingtoamac.html?l src=nl_mwweek_h_cbstories
And starting in Lion you can migrate the files from your PC to your new Mac.

Doublechecking. Did you just uninstall iTunes, and not the related software and components?
The 7 can be caused by damage to one of the other software components associated with iTunes (most commonly Apple Application Support). If that's what is afoot, a complete uninstall/reinstall may be of some assistance:

Firefox won't open when prompted the first time. Says "Not Responding". I have to hit cntrl/alt/del then try starting again. Sometimes multiple times.

Sounds like a "hang at exit" problem. There are several possible causes for that error. See:
    * How to stop the running Firefox process
** In Task Manager, does firefox.exe show in the '''<u>Processes</u>''' tab?
    ** See: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Kill_application
    * What may cause Firefox to hang at exit

    ** https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox+is+already+running+but+is+not+responding
    * You may need to try Firefox Safe Mode
** You may need to use '''Safe Mode''' to locate the problem: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode
**Firefox Safe Mode is a diagnostic mode that disables Extensions and some other features of Firefox. If you are using a theme, switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes '''<u>before</u>''' starting Safe Mode. When entering Safe Mode, do not check any items on the entry window, just click "Continue in Safe Mode". Test to see if the problem you are experiencing is corrected.
** If the problem does not occur in Safe-mode then disable all of your Extensions and Plug-ins and then try to find which is causing it by enabling '''<u>one at a time</u>''' until the problem reappears. '''<u>You MUST close and restart Firefox after EACH change</u>''' via File > Restart Firefox (on Mac: Firefox > Quit). You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window.

  • Webcam from websight won't open for me

My son's preschool has a webcam set up for his classroom so we can watch his class.  However, the window won't open on the imac or my iPhone.
    Any ideas?

It would help if you'd describe exactly what happens when you try to load it ....
Sometimes the .plist file gets scrambled and can cause odd program behaviour. You can try renaming com.apple.idvd.plist to something else, for example com.apple.idvd.old. Then try loading idvd again (it will create a new default plist file).  If it loads, then delete the renamed file.

  • My itunes wont work in WIndows 7.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times, but it doesnt' work.  It consistently won't open, freezes, or opens and will play songs but only comes up as the shape of itunes in a kinda see thru box. Any tips?

My itunes won't work on my Windows 7 anymore.  I have already uninstalled and reinstalled SEVERAL times, but to no avail.  It consistantly freezes, won't open or doesn't work correctly.  The only way I can get it to close anymore is to go to the task manager and 'end process' itunes.  I do get an error at the beginning saying " the registry settings used by the itunes drivers for importing and burning CD's and DVD's are missing.  This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software.  Please re-install itunes."  I have searched the internet for possible fixes to no avail.  Please help...anyone!

Lets see whether this file APSDaemon.exe is the problem here.
    Close your iTunes.
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del key and choose Task Manager. In the "Processes" Tab, select the file APSDaemon.exe and click End Prosses button, then close the task manager window.
Now open itunes and see if it is working?

  • HELP!  I downloaded the newest version of iTunes and now it won't open.

Hello, Everyone--any help you could give would be greatly appreciated since I am freaking out a bit about this!
I have had iTunes since April when I got my iPod mini. I have downloaded the newer version of iTunes any time it has prompted me to do so when I open iTunes.
So, tonight it tells me there is a newer version. I download it just like always, but this time, when I double click on iTunes, nothing happens. So, I read some of the other posts on here and followed some of the directions like going in to the add/remove hardware and seeing if it's there and then repairing it. I did just that--it's there and it repaired it, but to no avail. I am stressing out now. Now, when I go to shut down my computer, it takes several minutes to shut down--and it never did that before. My computer is newer and was working fine until this happened. Yes, Quicktime appears to be working fine. I am just wondering if I did something wrong or if there is a HUGE flaw with this new iTunes version since it would appear others are also experiencing technical difficulties. Any help any of you could give would be greatly appreciated! I have a Dell Dimension 2400 with the Windows XP operating system. And once again, I have never had problems with iTunes until today. Oh--and when I plug in my iPod, that doesn't pull iTunes up either now. HELP!!!
    Thank You,
    Alexis

I don't know whom to thank first-- b noir for telling me about the Lorraine fix or Lorraine for figuring out the fix. THE LORRAINE FIX WORKED FOR ME!!! (I feel a little like I am advertising "Hooked on Phonics" with that last line!)
Thank you doesn't say it strongly enough, but THANK YOU b noir and Lorraine for your help. I was to the boiling point last night and starting to get there tonight. Now I am resting easy and thankful that there is a community of computer users out there who care enough to troubleshoot problems together and work together to figure out a solution--and then to take the time to post and share information.
I would STRONGLY suggest that anyone who is having the iTunes issues where iTunes just plain won't open at all after downloading the newest version and has a pc with Norton Internet Security 2005 try the "Lorraine Method."
I am so happy I think I might sing. Or not--I will let my songs on iTunes do the singing for me now that I can again!!!!!!!
And to those still looking for answers--be patient--I now know how incredibly frustrating this can be and I hope that you all find your solutions very very soon!!

  • ITunes won't open (this isn't an idiot question)

When I first got my iPod mini, I set everything up the way I wanted it and iTunes would open every time I plugged my iPod in. It was beautiful. Now, even though I didn't change anything to my knowledge, iTunes won't open when I plug my iPod into my computer--instead the folder for my contacts and calender opens as if I'm plugging in an external harddrive, and not my iPod. I never told Windows or iTunes to do that, and I still have the "Open iTunes when this iPod is attached" option selected. I've reselected it twice already hoping it was just a fluke, but no luck. I have to close that stupid folder that comes up, manually open iTunes, and even then iTunes takes a minute to realize I have an iPod attached.
I already searched the support pages, and I couldn't find anything. Maybe someone here can help me?
Dell Insprion 600m   Windows XP   laptop

Hmmmm... I had this happen a while ago with an older version of iTunes and the iPod firmware. I was able to fix it after re-installing iTunes and updating the firmware. If that doesn't work, try uninstalling the iPod in the Windows Device Manager.
With the iPod connected, right-click on My Computer and select "Properties". Go to the "Hardware" tab and click on "Device Manager". Find the iPod in the device listing ("Apple iPod USB Device" under "Disk drives" if you're using the USB connection), right click on it, and select "Uninstall" Tell Windows that you really do want to uninstall the device, and disconnect the iPod after it's fininshed. Then reconnect the iPod. Windows should recognize it as a new device and automatically install it. If it says you need to restart, do so.
That might fix the problem (windows will treat the iPod as a new device and remove whatever settings are currently opening the folder and making iTunes not launch).

  • ITunes downloads but won't open

Ever since I upgraded to iTunes 7 in September, I've been having problems...it worked great for the first week and now refuses to open. I've tried completely removing iTunes, Quicktime, and iPod Updater before reinstalling, but it still won't work after several tries. I've tried opening it from Windows Task Manager, from Program Files, the Start Menu, and by clicking on the icon. The program and my music is there, it just won't open--I don't even get an error message. It just doesn't do anything. Help!
Dell Dimension DIM2400   Windows XP Pro   Intel Pentium 4 Processor

I only have 256MB of RAM, though I'm planning on upgrading. Do you think that might be a problem?
it's not the first thing i think about in these circumstances. if you're planning on upgrading anyway, that's fine. but i probably wouldn't rush your plans as part of a troubleshooting measure for the itunes/quicktime thing.
backtracking to something else you said earlier:
itunes.exe does appear in the Task Manager processes once I click on it, but not under applications.
is it a long persistence in there, or is it more of a quick 1-2 second appearance? (that can help with identifying possible culprits.)
if you try launching your QT after a reboot, does the QuickTimePlayer.exe process appear (in Task Manager in the Processes tab) immediately, or do you have to wait for 5 minutes before that one shows up?

  • Firefox won't open after i downloaded a Page Speed browser add-on

I went to Google Webmaster Central. To check my site performance it asked me to :
Install the Page Speed browser add-on
Use Page Speed to evaluate the performance of your pages and get suggestions on how to improve them. Learn more
    Install Page Speed
    Install while using Firefox
The "Install Page Speed" being https://dl-ssl.google.com/page-speed/current/page-speed.xpi
It then asked me to restart firefox. I said ok and firefox switched off but never started again. It won't open when i try to start it again.
I have a lot of saved bookmarks and don't want to loose them. Will this happen if i uninstall and reload firefox or is there a way to get this version working again.

Try opening Firefox in [[safe mode]], whilst in safe mode you can access the add-ons manager and uninstall the Page Speed Browser extension. Hopefully this will resolve your problem.
