Dell XT2 Upgrade to Windows 8, Embedded WWAN Not Turned On

I've been working on a friend's computer, and upgraded her Tablet/Laptop Inspiron XT2 (originally with XP Media) to Windows 8 Pro. The laptop has an embedded (believe it's the 5600) WAN card for Verizon. I got the driver installed from Dell's website, yet Verizon's Broadband software (VZAccess) tells me it's not turned on. I've checked hardware switches, the fn+f4 (or whichever combo it was), looked in network connections, checked using Unknown Devices to detect, and still no avail. In device manager, the only unknown devices are the fingerprint reader and the touch screen, which makes me think the wwan card is properly installed, just not being detected by connection manager. Any ideas on how to proceed?

Upgraded to Windows 10 - Now Roboform not working in Firefox

There are also some workarounds mentioned here.
Also, Roboform makes no statement that they support Windows 10 yet.

I did the free upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 on my home computer.
I use Firefox and RoboForm (form filler, password keeper, etc.). The RoboForm toolbar is there but it has a little red X int he lower left corner on the icon which you click to access the settings.
If I click on it and choose Options and User Data I can see the location of my data file. However, it's as though the program can't access it.
I have tried moving the file, resetting things, etc. but only get error messages or "RoboForm User Data is not Defined." Won't let me create a new account. Nothing.
This has been a three hour frustration for me. Everything was fine before the upgrade.

WINDOWS 8 SCREEN SAVER NOT TURNING ON

I have a TouchSmart with Windows 8 and the screen saver will not turn on. Will work in preview but will not function. Have tried all available screen savers and applied all with no luck. Any ideas out there?

It does seem that if you want to splay a picture on the screen after a certain time, then you should be able to do so.
It might be the same as letting the screen "rest" in darkness, saving the screen, making the world a better place, all of that:
The computer should work the way you expect when the feature is offered to work a certain way.
Just some ideas...
All the settings for your "Screen Saver" should be set to just less than any "dimming" or "display off" settings
Have you tried setting the Screen Saver to "None" and seeing if the screen can at least go to "dark" after the set time? That would be something - it would tell you that the mechanism is working.
Related to Above:
Try setting Background to None, set the time to say a minute less than the time you let the display dim/go-off, Reboot the computer to make sure the setting is "in place", and then test.
Have you tried using one of your own pictures? If you do not have one, try downloading a picture from a location you trust - say from NASA if you are interested in "Things that are Star-Stuff"
The issue may be related to screen resolution vs. the resolution of the photo or "saver" you are trying to use. There may be some sort of conflict. This goes back to choosing either a different screen resolution or a different photo.
Do you have an extra monitor attached? There may be a resolution conflict with the extra monitor if you have "extended view" set and the two resolutions are not compatible in some bizarre fashion. Even if there is no conflict; if you do have an extra monitor attached, try turning if off and see if it makes a difference.

Windows Security Center will not turn on and seems to be missing.

My brother in law's laptop had some malware which I have gotten rid of. After I cleaned it up I went to start his Security Center since the Action Center (windows 7) said that Windows Security Center Service is turned off. When I click "turn on now" it
says it cannot be started. I tried doing it manually by going into services and clicking on Security Center, but it isn't there. My laptop is also Win7 and I confirmed that it is normally there but on his it is missing. Is there a way to install it or fix
the problem? Any help or advice would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Upgrade to windows 10, display driver not work

the issue is video card has no working driver detect. I can't get error code ,because teh screen is not display any thing.I am sure the computer is boot up, as it can be access by teamviewer and show a 640x480 screen. currently , I am using miscrosoft default display driver . instead of intel and AMD driver. to show 1024x168 screen , at least I can see someting now... and the fan is screaming .. my product type is HP Pavilion dv4-3126tx QG429PA#AB2 display card is Intel HD Graphics 3000 and AMD radeon 6600m and 6800m (not sure excatly, may be 6750M) I am running windows 10 64bit much thanks

I have opted out forever on the stupid )(&**%^*&()*^ tab that occurs in the MIDDLE OF MY SCREEN, covering a THIRD of my screen (and at 62cm - this is over kill!) .... FAIL. (at least 4 times)

I realise this can not be fixed on the spot, as it is going to require an actual programmer to fix it but please, pass this up to or over to whoever CAN fix it. I have used firefox since before patch 4 after it went live. I ADORED the old "you are F****d (etc" page you used to have that was directly opposed to internet explorers page not found - and I actually took the time to read it and had a terrible time stopping the laughter (at work of all places) when I did. I do not want to change browser, but these *features* do not enthrall me - especially since *features* should be optional, and turning them off should work.

HP Pavilion DV6T-7000 Quad-Edition, Windows 7 64-bit Not Turning On

I've got a problem with this laptop. I've only had it for a few weeks and already, it refuses to turn on for me. No lights will come on even when there is AC or battery as a power source. Prior to the problem, I was doing absolutely nothing that would be hardware intensive. Can this be fixed, or will I have to use the warranty?

Sometimes electrical components needs to have all power sources removed and reintroduced to work properly. Try performing a hard reset first, if it doesn't work then we'll move to the next step.
To Perform A Hard Reset
Shut down the computer by going to the Start menu and selecting shut down. (If you have no display, hold the power button down for 5 seconds); (if the computer doesn't power on, move to the next step)
Disconnect the AC Adapter from the notebook.
Remove the battery from the bottom of the notebook. There will be a switch/button to eject the battery.
Wait at least 1 minute with all power sources disconnected.
Re-insert the battery and reconnect the AC Adapter and then attempt to power on the notebook.

Firefox 4 will not open any windows and I can not turn it off either.

I get a grey square at bottom left of my screen when I attempt to open Firefox 4. I have tried restarting my Macbook Pro and that has done no good. Any help would be wonderful.
Also if I have to delete the browser to reinstall how do I save my bookmarks?

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.<br />

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins"
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

Windows 7 Sleep mode not turning off fan

I have a weird sleep issue that just started, I've built a new PC, Win7x64 and just noticed this happening. When I put the computer to sleep manually, the machine looks like it goes to sleep, but the fans keep running and it 'sounds on'. If I wake the PC,
then put it right back to sleep, it goes into deep sleep and the fans go off. Nothing I can see is keeping it awake, I have a i5-2500k, Asus P68 deluxe mobo, and it seems to be a repeatable issue. If the PC wakes up by itself to do something, then goes back
to sleep on its own (times out) it goes into deep sleep. It's only when I manually do it that it has the issue. Anyone ever seen this? Thanks!

I had the same issue a while ago. It ended up being because I added my network printer to the printers folder by clicking 'add a network printer' rather than 'add a local printer'.
When I added a 'local' printer (and pointed it to the IP Address of the printer) the sleep issue went away. Both methods (network/local) were able to print to my network printer, but the network printer option would result in my fans never spinning down.

You will need to identify your CPU and chipset. CPU-z is a free and safe utility that can do that for you.
If your system has an Intel chipset with disccrete or onboard graphics or an NVIDIA chipset with onboard graphics, then the drivers are here at this Realtek download page.
If your notebook is an AMD CPU and NVIDIA chipset, with a discrete graphics module installed, then the driver for your Conexant CX20549-12 will be here.

My fingerprint reader is not recognized by DigitalPersona when I upgraded to Windows 7

My fingerprint reader worked with Vista but when I upgraded to Windows 7 it is not recognized by DigitalPersona.
I have a dv3-1075us with the AMD Turion X2 dual core mobile RM-72 2.10 Ghz processor. I have updated the BIOS to F.15, there is not a biometrics option in the BIOS for me to turn on, Authentec Driver 20.0.18 dated 11-24-2009 (Device Manger does nto show an error), and running Digital Persona Personal version 4.11.3826.
I have updated this from the troubleshooting section of the HP Support website.
At the windows login I get a "Reader not detected" message and in DigitalPersona "The fingerprint reader is not connected. Connect the reader."
What further steps can I do to get my fingerprint reader working?

I've got an HDX9350 that I originally ran on Vista, and later upgraded to 32-bit Windows 7 Ultimate. I managed to make most functionality run on that installation, albeit buggy and slow, running assorted drivers in compatibility mode.
Earlier this week I installed the 64-bit version od Windows 7 Ultimate, because the upgraded installation did run into problems sometimes, requiring a long time to get an ip address etc. I was surprised to see a lot of drivers being automatically installed, includingdrivers for the AuthenTec 2501A fingerprint sensor.
I stumbled upon AuthenTecs own basic software, allowing You to log onto the computer and that worked. Or was it Window' own? Never mind.
Installing Digital persona resulted in no reader detected all of the time, despite following instructions on this forum.
Installing HP's SimplePass, things worked straight away! Maybe Digital Persona isn't compatible with Windows 7, or with my HDX9350?

we are currently running SAP ERP EHP7 (Netweaver 7.40 ) on Windows 2008 R2 server, MS SQL 2012 database.
Is it possible to do in-place upgrade to Windows Server 2012?
We want to do upgrade without buying new hardware and perform system copy.

the only note where we discussed our findings about in-place upgrades of the Windows operating system is SAP Note 1494740.
Even though the upgrade to Windows Server 2012 is not discussed explicitly, the note is also valid for Windows Server 2012.
The only thing you have to take care is: upgrade your system components (database, other 3rd party software) to versions supported on Windows Server 2012 before you are performing the in-place upgrade.

Deploy Windows XP Embedded using MDT?

Is there a way to deploy Windows XP Embedded (XPe) using MDT? If so, I could use step-by-step guidance on how to do so.
Currently we created the XPe wim file from our XPe computer but when we import it to the Deployment Share it is not recognized.

Hi, I was trying to setup a new DC for our company, originally it's DC is Windows Server 2003 SP2, we decided not tomigrate it and instead build a new one from scratch which is Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. I was able to set it up, perform windows updates,
added roles, perform Domains and Trusts, etc
When suddenly our global standards shifted to Windows Server 2012 R2, so instead of creating another server from scratch, this is the time to upgrade from 2k8 to 2K12 R2, besides the MAPtool which I've downloaded to check for prerequisites, etc, are there
other things I need to be aware of? backups? etc.
