Delta in BW after R/3 archiving

Hello,
following question: Currently we are thinking about R/3 archiving (with archiving objects). R/3 and BW are connected. In R/3 we want to archive e.g. year 2000 and 2001. In BW are all line items from 2000 - today.
What will happen after a R/3 archive run (for year 2000 and 2001) in BW? How does the delta mechanism work? Are in my BW all line items form 2000 - 2001 or are in my BW all line items from 2002??
Are there any (general) problems which could happen?
Thanks for feedback!
Best Regards.
Pascal

Pascal,
just a little integration with what Siggi said.
There is some possibility to reload the archived data: for the LBWE extractors there are the first field in your OLI*BW that permit to select an Archiving Run...try to see also the document in www.service.sap.com/bw -> SAP BW InfoIndex -> Archiving -> How to ... Extract archived R/3 data via the Archiving Informat 3.0 (pdf)

  • Are nfs mounts allowed in vfstab after a flash archive restore?

    I am restoring a server using a flash archive. The vfstab on the original server contains an entry for an nfs mount. It looks like during the push of the archive to the new server, the vfstab gets saved to vfstab.orig and the nfs mount is removed from vfstab. So I added a finish script to add the nfs mount back to vfstab and now the server gets hung during S73nfs.client during reboot.
    Are nfs mounts not allowed in vfstab after a flash archive restore?

    One option is to secure the OBP with a password.
    At the OK prompt, set the security-mode to "command" and then set a password. Careful not to loose this password. With this set the only option is to "boot" without supplying the firmware password.
    Commands:
    # halt
    ok setenv security-mode = command
    ok setent security-password <enterpasswd>
    ok reset-all

  • Delta not working after upgrade from 3.5 to BI7.0

    Hello All,
    We have recently upgraded from BW3.5 to BI7.0 and the standard delta is not working now after the upgade. The name of the Extractor is 0CRM_SALES_ACT_1.
    Did anyone come across this problem before or  can anyone suggest the solution.
    Thanks
    Madhu

    Hi Madhu,
    I've experienced a similar problem with this extractor.  I attempted to Initialize Delta with Data Transfer to no avail.  The job ran for 12+ hours and stayed in "yellow" status (0 records extracted).  The following steps worked for me:
    1.  Initialize Delta without Data Transfer
    2.  Run Delta Update
    3.  Run Full Update and Indicate Request as Repair Request
    Worked like a champ, data load finished in less than 2 minutes.
    Hopefully this will help.
    Regards.

  • Delta load problem after Initialization

    Hi everyone.........................I need your inputs on the following problem that I ran into:
    I have an ODS which gets supplied by regular delta loads.
    Accidentlly, I have deleted the Initialization(Info Package->Scheduler->Initialization options for source systems). Because of this the delta loads are broken.
    I am now trying to fix this by Initializing it again(but without data transfer as I dont need all the data till this current point again). That worked successfully.
    But the deltas after this initialization are causing a problem. The first delta that I loaded failed with an error :
    "Delta Request REQU123XYZ is incorrect in the monitor.
    A repeat needs to be requested. Data target (ODS) still includes delta request REQU123XYZ. If the repeat is now loaded, then after the load there could be duplicate data in the data target.
    Request the repeat?"
    I repeat the delta load and this time around it loads correctly.
    The next delta that I load after this is again an error. The repeat of this is again a correct one.
    This problem continues.
    Can anyone throw some light on whats going wrong?
    Thanks.

    Hi Sat,
    I tried your suggestion by turning the failed request manually to green.
    However, for the next delta load, the info package just wouldnt allow me to initate a load saying that-
    "Last delta update is not yet completed
    Therefore, no new delta update is possible.
    You can start the request again
    if the last delta request is red or green in the monitor".
    Although it says not yet completed, I can see that the request has failed.
    Any more alternatives will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Status of db backup taken after 2 logs archived went missing

    Hi ,
    what would be the effect or issues of the full db backup & archivelog backup of 9i db taken after 2 archive logs missing that were never backed up, since backup, or crosscheck did't alerted any error messages. will this be still a valid backup to restore or recovery in case.
    posting the backup script details;
    note:we are not using catalog repository
    run {
    allocate channel dev1 type disk format 'Z:\Rbackup\DMP\db_t%t_s%s_p%p';
    allocate channel dev2 type disk format 'Z:\Rbackup\DMP\db_t%t_s%s_p%p';
    backup database;
    backup archivelog all;
    delete noprompt archivelog until time 'sysdate-1' ;
    crosscheck archivelog all;
    release channel dev1 ;
    release channel dev2 ;
    }

    logs missing date is Jan 14th and no backups were taken on this day. In that case, the "BACKUP ARCHIVELOG ALL" on the 15th would have generated an error flagging the missing archivelogs because the "ALL" specification is a direction to backup all known ArchiveLogs that are available for backup. The only reasons why it wouldn't have flagged the missing ArchiveLogs would be :
    a. You have another job that deletes archivelogs and this one ran before the backup on 15th Jan
    b. The ArchiveLogs are in the FRA and Oracle had automatically purged ArchiveLogs when the FRA was running low on free space.
    The Backup on 15th is good for restore and recovery. Use the "VALIDATE" command in RMAN to validate the database and archivelogs.
    See http://hemantoracledba.blogspot.com/2010/03/misinterpreting-restore-database.html
    However, as two archivelogs are missing and not backed up, you will not be able to do a Point In Time Recovery to any point in time from the time of the first missing archivelog to the end of the backup of the 15th.

  • MSI KLN2 DELTA problem hangs after testing RAM

    I currently purchased the MSI K7N2 DELTA-L (Motherboard) NFORCE2 CHIPSET DDR400 and for the cpu im using an athlon 1800+ and i just purchased some pc 3200(ddr400)of 1 gig(stick by Samsung)  and i have a problem during boot up it's a really weird problem as soon as it says testing memory it goes up to 1048 detecting the 1 gig and it says ok saying single Channel and then as soon as it says detecting ide hard drives it hangs up. I can't even acess CMOS now i have had the problem for over a week, & send the motherboard back to xtreme gear that i bought, & they send me a new motherboard and it's the same problem. So I'm thinking that the mother board doesn't like the ram i purchased I have tested the ram on another system that supports pc3200 except it was on a system w/ a pentium 4 and it worked perfectly on that system. i have also put samsung 512 mb stick and same problem, does any one have suggestions or solutions, is samsung just not compatible with msi k7n2 delta series mother board or what else can it be, I can't update the bios cause right after or even sometimes b4 it says detecting ide hard drives it hangs up any solutions??????
    The link to the ram i bought is
    http://store.yahoo.com/dccsale/sa1gpc400mhz.html & I've tested it on a p4 motherboard with a pentium 2.6 and it worked perfectly but maybe its not the ram maybe the bios on the msi k7n2 deltas are very glitchy???

    Do u think it might be cause im using an athlon 1800+ or is it my 1024 mb or 1 gig pc 3200 sometimes i do get something in the screen but right after testing the ram it hangs up or even if it says detecting the ide hard drives and nothing after that i know my vga card is fine i know my ram is fine and it's abviously not a hard drive issue so not sure what the problem is and it's basically impossible to flash the bios if i cant get in or even to load up where it checks the floppy... The only thing is if my cpu was bad i think nothing at all would load on the screen, but if it's possible i guess what esle can i do should i spend $150 and get a faster cpu like an athlon 2700+

  • Not getting delta master data after refresh

    Hello,
    We have just refreshed our QA (BW and R/3) environments from our production environments.  It was a synchronized restore.  We have done this multiple times in the past and have not run into this problem before.
    Everything checks out fine - full master data loads fine, and delta transaction data loads fine, but our master data loads that are deltas retreive no data and produce the following message:
    Selection conditions replaced by last init. selection conditions
    Message no. RSM1036
    Diagnosis
    Selection conditions replaced by init. selection conditions.
    No new selections can be made when requesting delta data from a 2.0 extractor.
    Delta selections are composed of the total quantity of all the selections of all the sucessful init. requests for this DataSource.
    I have looked this up here and in OSS.  What I have found would indicate that we have multiple inits.  However, when I look at the Initialization Options for Source System from within the infopkg, there is only one.  Also, RSA7 appears to be fine on R/3.
    Is there table or setting that may have been missed or some other place I need to check?
    Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Kelley

    Thanks, but I do not understand what exactly to look for in that table.  What fields in that table should I check and for what?
    I have compared rssdlinit on BW with roosprmsc on R/3 and they match.  I have checked other tables too and they look fine.
    There was a mistake made when the system was refreshed that may have caused this problem.  That would at least explain why we are having this problem now and did not before.
    I tested one of our delta master data objects (0material_text).  I deleted the init from within the infopkg.  Then I ran the infopkg to init with no data transfer.  That appeared to work - resulting in 1 record which is normal for an init delta with no data.  Then changed material text on R/3 and ran the infopkg with delta update.  It still gave the same message that I listed in my first post, and it retrieved 0 records.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Kelley

    Sorry if I wasn't as clear as I could have been.  I'm trying to clean out the Journal mailbox after exporting the messages to a .PST file.  I've tried formatting the date different ways and when I check it the format seems OK. For some reason I'm
    still getting the same error.  I've tried this which was suggested and I received the same error listed above:
    Search-Mailbox -Identity JournalMailbox -TargetFolder inbox -TargetMailbox jimk -SearchQuery "Received:'${$startDate}'..'${$endDate}'" -DeleteContent -Force
    For some reason the -SearchQuery is not accepting the variable.

  • Delta Loads failling after system copy with error in source system(RSM340)

    Hi Guru's
    We recently performed system copy in BI side.I am facing same issue in couple of chains.Process chains are failing at delta loads with error in source system(ERROR IN SOURCE SYSTEM-message no-RSM340 ).When I go for repeat option ,delta loads are running fine.I did some research regarding RSM340 and I found note:1576331.
    But my system is not showing any 'Time Inconsistencies'.So.I was not able to find any clue about it.
    Could anybody help  me out in this aspect.

    Hi,
    Check whether the profiles that ran in background have the following authorizations.
      The RFC user on BW, receiving data from OLTP system, should have  S_BI-WHM_RFC and S_RS_ALL in the user profile.
    The RFC user on OLTP, receiving request from BW system, should have  S_BI-WX_RFC, S_IDOC_ALL, and, B_ALE_ALL in the user profile.

  • Transaction logs after large mailbox archive?

    Hi all,
    I've recently run a large mailbox archive on our mailbox database and I'm concerned about the transaction log files that will be produced.
    Some info: We run a single Exchange server on Windows Server 2008, on a single hard disk. The system is run on VMWare with a full Exchange-aware backup run every night. Database file is currently 194GB with about 90GB whitespace.
    I archived 20GB worth of email from a mailbox. My problem is that the hard disk with the database and log files on it only has 12GB of free space, so when the Recoverable Items folder is cleared 2 weeks later, is there going to be 20GB of transaction logs
    with nowhere to go? Will I have to organise some additional storage to give the log files some room?
    Appreciate any help.

    Hi,
    I notice that there only 12 GB free disk in your mailbox server, it may be too small.
    Exchange will not generate much more transaction log when delete Recoverable Items, however it also not delete previous transaction log. Meanwhile, Exchange will generate new log when mail flow and move message to archive database, the size of transaction log
    only grow. Therefore, I recommend to add additional disk or full backup for your database on schedule to truncated some unrequired logs.

  • Can't get OS on exterior FW drive to boot after restore OR archive & instal

    I had a crash on one exterior FW drive that had my backup 10.3.3 OS on it (just used it for emergencies and for those applications that couldn't handle anything higher.) Did a complete restore using retrospect and all files appear to be intact, but the drive won't boot. I tried:
    Checking and unchecking "ignore permissions on this volume"; that had helped with the original crashed drive in the past to get IT to boot; no change.
    Tried booting from the original Panther install disks and repaired permissions on the new drive with restored OS; no boot.
    Tried booting from the original Panther install disks, with the intention of attempting an archive and install of the non-booting OS; installer WOULD NOT let me install on that disk, red exclamation mark across disk and "continue" button ghosted out.
    Tried checking "ignore permissions on this volume" once again; tried installer once again... would not let me install on the restored drive.
    The new drive is a FW 500 gig drive; could that have something to do with it? The installer was willing to let me install on my other external 450 gig FW drive, but I don't want the OS on that system, I want to update the restored OS on the 500 gig drive so I can boot from it like the drive I replaced.
    Is there a way to "bless" the OSX install on the 500 gig drive and get it to boot without archive & install? Or if not, to get archive & install to install it on that disk!?!?!?!?
    Thanks!
    Leslie Bell

    That would have worked, but it also would have cloned over all the library and application additions to the 10.3.9 OS. What I basically wanted was a nice simple clean 10.3.3 OS install that I could use in emergency cases (secondary boot drive.)
    What I did was finally shift all my data around, plus relied on backups, and just formatted and installed the basic Panther OS from my original discs on the 400 gig hard drive that would let me install it on.
    And then put all the data I had to juggle around back... still doing that as a matter of fact and will be doing it all night long (had one big video editing project that has to be copied back over.) Not to mention updating various program data new locations.
    But I have the backup OS installed and working now.
    I'm not sure, but possibly the reason it wouldn't install on the 500 gig hard drive is it's an external Seagate, with a backup feature if you push the on button while it's on (hold to shut off.) Maybe something about that implementation of that feature made it impossible to install on that drive. So I made it my basic data drive, and turned the second Iomega 400 gig drive into a re-installed clone of the Iomega 250 gig drive that crashed.
    Only took five days, but next time I'll know to install the OS first and not just try to copy over an entire drive via retrospect backups, because now I know that won't boot. (From a USB installed backup drive, no less!!!)
    Thanks!
    Leslie Bell

  • Finder not responding after Archive and install

    I recently encountered my first problem ever with my mac(new in '05) This is the first mac I have owned; I have worked on G3's and G4's in the past. After reading through many message boards and support pages I don't believe my problem to be similar but different to previous posts.
    My problem started off with an OS problem that I was able to diagnose in the "help" book I purchased when Leopard came out. It said I should Archive and Install to remedy the problem and keep my files. I ran the archive the install (it gave me no options to preserve user or network settings). After Archive and install my computer started up alright, but I got the permanent beachball and the finder does not work. it is constantly non responsive. I can relaunch finder, but after it restarts it goes non responsive immediately once again. So I can't actually access my "previous system" folder to move anything over. I checked my dock items and finder, they opened, but my itunes asked for an update. I list of update items came up; I did the non-restart items first. they updated fine, (my itunes old itunes playlists are viewable but not playable now) then I did the items that required a restart. That is when I found out that I could not shut down or restart my computer with std. procedures.
    Currently I can only access my spotlight or apple pull down menu if I am in a functioning dock program (safari or itunes, quicktime. etc.) after reading some more support pages it looked like the common thing to do was check permissions and verify disk. I did, I repaired two permissions and the disk was OK. I did look at the HD files, they were as I remembered, but unaccessible (greyed out) and the "previous system" folder was present. +It didn't look like I would expect. The HD looked same as it used to just with a previous system folder.+ After checking the permissions and verified the disk I tried a hard restart. It came back the same as before, unresponsive finder and only the few dock items worked along with spotlight. I checked permissions and disk verify again and everything was OK.
    Sorry to be long winded I am trying to be thorough...In short, My finder does not work after doing an Archive and Install to fix my original problem (which has been fixed)...the remedy for an unresponsive finder is to do an archive and install. Is another archive and install really going to fix my problem? Can I archive and install OSX 10.4 and work my way back up to 10.5.6?
    Secondly is there a way to restart my computer without doing another hard restart?

    It won't let me add a new account. I am locked out and when I try to unlock it gives me the beachball and becomes non responsive after it tries to authenticate.
    I looked at the log file, I am not sure what exactly to look for. I am no programer. I see an awful lot of negative wording. I see some errors like "error (-4956) locating menu extra but they are mostly under system preferences...I see some stuff in the loginwindow that says is not a full path... Otherwise, the only reference I see to the finder is when I have force quit the finder.

  • Lost MPEG-2 after archive and install

    I bought and used the MPEG-2 playback component but MPEG Streamclip no longer believes it is installed after a recent archive and install of Leopard.
    I still have my confirmation email of purchase, but there's no indication as to how to reinstall or repair MPEG-2.
    What do I need to do to restore Quicktime and especially MPEG-2?

    I'd recommend saving your (paid-for) QuickTimeMPEG2.dmg file on your local disk. This would go for any software you pay for and then download online, especially if it can be accidentally wiped out by an OS upgrade.
