Generally ODS consists of three tables
1. New table 2. Active table 3. Change log table
during the delta processing based on the key updation takes place..
the updation are based on the field record mode
The field 0RECORDMODE determines whether the records are added to or overwritten. It determines how a record is updated in the delta process: A blank character signifies an after image, X a before image, D deletes the record and R means a reverse image.
When you are loading flat files you have to select a suitable delta process from the transfer structure maintenance, this ensures that you use the correct type of update.
there are 7 types updation in a record mode
' ' After image
X Before image
A Add
D Delete (Key only)
N New image
R Reverse image
Y Update image (Values for update)
In Record mode
there is two types of Updation 1. Additive mode and Overwrite
If it is a Overwrite mode latest value will be saved in a target
If it is a Addition Mode the value will be Added to the particular field
This can be viewd in change log table..

Hi All,
i need information on how to do deltas on ods. i did two full uploads for ods 0fiar_o03 and then infocube. i need to do delta for this ods and cube. Please give me the steps to do delta for ods and infocube.

How are you doing the full load to ODS 0FIAR_O03. Are you giving any selection criteria.
In order start pulling Delta to the ODS you need to do a Full repair request or else you need to delete the full load requests from ODS and reload using Initialization.
Anways you are loading full load request in to the ODS, so it would be better to load Init Load next time and then start picking up deltas.
Delta to the Infocube is easily possible, by selecting Init in ODS after deleting all the data from the infocube. After that only the delta records from change log will be taken to the Cube from the ODS.
The delta to the cube can be performed irrespective of whether you performa Full load or Delta load in to the ODS.

Question : Init delta in ODS

I have a doubt regarding init delta in ODS...
I have done following steps :
1)delete ODS and cube data (right click on ODS -> delete data)
2) did full load in ODS and to cube till date ....
3) delete Initialisation from infopackage schedular by making forced red...
Now i am getting different suggestions from my seniors that....
<b>a></b>   I should do repair full request in ODS ...before starting init delta....
<b>b></b> No need to do repair full request -> just start init without data transfer -> it will give error in activation of data -> manually activate the ODS data -> update it to cube...
Can anybody please tell me what i should do....?

Please follow the steps...
1) Delete the data in ODS and CUBE completely.
2) Do Init without data transfer to ODS first from source system.
3) Then do the full load into the ODS from source system....
4) Follow the same steps from ODS to Cube as well.
      Do the init without data transfer to CUBE from ODS and then do the full load
       from ODS to CUBE...
Believe me this will work fantastic.....

Doubt on Deltas from ODS to CUBE

Hello Experts.
I have few Questions on Deltas. from ODS to CUBE
I have 3 Cubes ( X, Y, Z ) which gets Deltas from ODS ( A ) . i have extended the cube X so i have deleted data and Reloaded it. I have to do Deltas from ODS to Cubes from now on.
in the ODS manage ( there is Tick all connected data Targets to this Request is been Delted now ).
if i reinitalize the delta with out Data Transfer. will only the data which come now on to ODS( A ) will be going to cubes( X,Y,Z ) are all the data in ODS will go to Cubes.
Please Advice me.

Hi,
When you are loading the delta from the ODS, the data is taken from the changelog. These records are the + and - records generated as a result of the new data loaded and activated in the ODS. So, if there were any changes made to the existing records these will flow to the cubes as well.
If you do the init without data transfer, you need to couple that with the full load to create the initial status of data in the cubes.

Error while resetting the delta in ODS (BI 7.0)

I face a problem in delta resetting...need your help... Thanks..
I have an ODS-1 which has target cube1, cube2, cube3....One week back a new target has been added as ODS-2....All complete data from ODS1 has been piped into ODS 2..(Note.. ODS2 has many more inputs from other cubes/ODS too)
NO issues till now....
I found a data problem in ODS-1 which got loaded 15 days back..... I have removed all 15 requests from cube1, cube2 and cube3... Now I am trying to reset the delta in ODS1...
I am getting the following error....Infoprovide ODS2 still contains request... Delete this first....
Since ODS2 has many other data alongwith ODS1... If I try deleting request from ODS2,, I need to clean it totally and redo... I dont want to do this...
Is there any way to disconnect this delta link between ODS1 - ODS2..... So that I will reload the data in ODS1 and populate into all targets...

I dont think you can disconnect the link. just delete the requests originating from ODS1 in ODS2 and you can leave all other requests intact that are from other dataproviders and do a reinit.

Error while loading the delta to ODS

Hi,
I have an urgent situation.
I am loading 500,000 records to my ODS with Delta request. All of them came to PSA and first 112,000 records got loaded and activated in ODS. Now, the request stays in yellow status. Other records have not loaded from PSA to ODS. How do I load rest of the records from PSA to ODS ?. Also, how do I handle Yellow request which is still waiting.
Also, is there anyway to load 500,000 records in parallel ?.

Go to the load monitor in RSA1 or RSMON and analyse the reasons.
Go to the tab details and you will get some step by step. Also, you will see the update status for each data package. This will give you some clues.
Also, the request will turn red once the preset time has elapsed for the info package. If not, you can turn it green or red. I suggest you delete the entire data.
Look at the data selections in the info package and try to send smaller set of data and do it sequentially. The job is not getting compleetd now, possibly because there are some locking issues also.
Also, ensure, you load all the master data before laoding the transaction data to the ODS.

Delta between ODS with Data field as key field

Hello,
I have a problem with a data load between two ODS. Below is the scenario
ODS 1 has delivery data with delivery Doc and Delivery Item as key field and Plant,Material, Delivery Qty, etc.. as Data filed
ODS 2 need to create as a aggregare at the plant, material level. So for ODS 2, Key Field is Plant, Material and the Data filed is Delivery Qty (additive), etc...
When I load the Full load it works correctly, But when I bring the data as a delta it is updating the delivery Qty incorrectly and some of the data fileds are comming as blank also eventhough the source ODS (ODS1) has data.
Can we use data filed from ODS1 as a Key filed for ODS2 ?

Hi,
Looks like someone deleted/ added/ updated some entries in the change log table of ODS1.
Did you check the "Change log" of ODS1 and compare with the delta request of ODS2?
Isn't change log of ODS1 showing the entries you got as part of delta in ODS2?
Another recommendation would be to compare the "Change log" of ODS1 with the "Active" table of ODS1 and see if they are showing the same value of the key figures.

Hi, gurus and experts!
I'm trying to do Init delta load from 0FIAR_O03 ODS into 0FIAR_C03 InfoCube in PRD env. by InfoPackage "Initialize with delta transfer (with data transfer)". Immediately after the load was started I got error
"Error occurred in the data selection"
with details
"Job terminated in source system --> Request set to red".
Where are no any short dumps. There are 1 activated init load in ODS - nearly 6 500 000 records.
Any ideas about error? And the way I can load data?

I faced the similar error when I tried to load data from an ODS which contained huge amount of data to a Cube. Even in your case the volume of data is more (around 6.5 million records). The error could be due to the table space issue, please contact your Basis team to check if enough table space exist for both the data targets.
Meanwhile you may also check the RFC connection of the Myself source system.
You can replicate the DSO datasource once and then reactivate the transfer rules using the program RS_TRANSTRU_ACTIVATE_ALL.
Try load with a small amount of data with a Full load option and then with a delta option..

I got error while was trying to load Init data by InfoPackage from ODS to Cube:
Error 8 when starting the extraction program
Message no. R3019
Diagnosis
Error 8 occurred when starting the data extraction program.
System Response
The data extraction is terminated.
Procedure
Check for relevant OSS Notes, or create a problem message of your own.
There is no any OSS notes regarding this error, I checked forums - non of the answers didn't work for me.
Additional info:
I got this error after canceling Init Load to the same Cube (by changing load Status to red). After that I deleted all data from Cube, also did reset Delta Init in InfoPackage. I suspect this job cancellation caused this problem. How can I repair it?

Whenever we load data to an ODS..........data will first com in the Activation Queue............after activation of the ODS........data will moved in the Active table and the Change log table.......Now suppose a particular value is changed......that that change will overwrite the value in the Active table............and the changes will get recorded in the Change Log table.........

So ......first when u did Full upload............all the data loaded in both the Active table and the Change log table.......after that u hav'nt done any changes.........right?......So in ur case no of records in ACtive table and the Change log table is same..........U can cross check it.........Go to the Manage screen......Contents tab >> there Check the Active table : Active data..............and Change Log table : Change log.............there click on No of Records.........

Short Dump while loading Delta from ODS to ODS

I have run into a short dump error while loading delta from one ODS to another via a process chain.
Following is the error message:

Check the status of request SID 259294 in ODS, whether the Activation got completed or not. If not wait till the activation completes.
If there is any problem in the activation process, correct that complete the activation process and load the ne request that you want to load..

Init delta from ods to two cube seperately

Hello,
Can we run init seperately two times for the two different cubes from a ODS which is used as an staging ODS?
ODS1-> for cube1 initialise delta with data transfer
ODS1-> for Cube2 initialise delta without data transfer
is it possible to do like this?

I think it should not have been possible to do initializing with data transfer and without data transfer for the same data target.
I mean init with data transfer to cube 1 and init without data transfer to cube 2 from ODS.
Not to the same Cube. Will it be possible like this?

Mixed Full and Delta from ODS to Cube

Hi,
we're facing the following problem:
We're loading data from an ODS to a Cube via Delta, every night. Due to reporting needs it's
nessesary we have to write some Infoobject-attributes to the cube.
This attributes will change sometimes. To display the current truth, we have to delete the old
assignments from the cube and update them with the new attribute values.
My idea was the following:
1. Identify the lines in the cube with the old attributes
2. Delete them via "selective deleting"
3. Load the lines with the new attributes from the ODS to the Cube
4. Proceed with delta upload from the ODS.
Is it a possible way or any better ideas.

thanx for your reply. Of course we update the attributes:
For example:
Today Infoobjekt IO (Value IO-Value) has Attribute A with the value B.
Row in Cube: IO-Value, B, Keyfigure.
Tomorrow: Today Infoobjekt IO (Value IO-Value) has Attribute A with the value C.
So I have to correct the value of the attribute in the Cube.
Navigation Attributes can't be used.

Restore failed delta from ODS to cube

Hi All,
I have started a delta load from ODS to cube but it has failed abruptly, for some reason, with out extracting even a single record.
I want to restart/re-schedule the load but I am confused how to do that(just a delta or repair/repeat delta).
Can someone please suggest how to proceed.

Repeat delta from ODS to Cube.

Hello All,
The data is coming from ODS to InfoCube...
Load for 24.05, 25.05 and 26.05 is successfully uploaded in ODS (full Upload) from R/3 system.
But the load for date 25.05 failed in InfoCube due to invalid chs. in one of the field.
The infocube is Z_CAD (Delta upload) and is fetching data from ODS Z_AD.
How do I make sure that I delete the request in InfoCube. and repeat the load from ODS for 25.05 and 26.05.
Kindly explain step wise.
I also have to make sure that the data mart status is set for further loads.

Hi,
Since your data is available in ODS.
Delete the request for that day from Cube by making the request red in both Manage and Monitor screen.
Then rectify the invalid characters issue either by maintaining it in Tcode RSKC or by writing routine for it.
Then you can do a reconstruction as the reconstruction tab will available in the manage screen.
