Delta Init....

Hello,
when we do a delta intialization in the info package is there any data transfered to the bw system.
what i mean is..
if we have filled the setup tables in r3 and then we do a delta initialization in bw is the data transfered(full upload)_ from the setup tables to the bw system or not...

yes, the data will be transfered from setup tables to BW if you select the option Initialize Delta process. Under Initialize Delta process there are 2 more option which is explained below.
Initialize without data transfer: If you select this option it wont transfer any records to BW while the initialization takes place.This option will just activate the delta queue in RSA7.
Early delta initialization: If you execute the early delta initialization, the source system update can continue and data can be written to the delta queue while the initialization request is being processed.
Steps:
Once you filled the setup table, go to your infopackage and select Initialize Delta process option and save the infopackage. After that you can schedule the infopackage. This will initialize the delta. Also it will bring records to the cube or ODS.

0HR_PY_1_CE - Delta init with time limitations

Hallo everyone,
I want to use the Content-Extractor 0HR_PY_1_CE to transfer payroll data into SAP BW in delta mode.
As the source system is running payrolls for a very long time allready, I would like limit the data by time. Pittily the extractor does not support filtering by time in delta mode. (Found this on SAPs help pages and also tried to set start and enddate ... no luck as assumed.)
So I had a look at the source systems customizing, but the only setting regarding a time frame for extraction I found is the one for PT-data. (Transaction SBIW -> Settings for Application-Specific DataSources (PI) -> Human Resources -> Define Time Frame for Transfer)
Within the PY-Customizing there is no option to limit the extraction interval.
Is there any other way to limit the extraction to a specific time frame when loading data via 0HR_PY_1_CE?

thanks for taking the time to answer my question.
For time selection I use the extractors default datafields: BEGDA and ENDDA.
Pseudo-delta might be an option IF the two fields you mention are processed in the extractors selection logic. I actually don't know and would need to take a closer look on the extractors programm logic.
Anyway my goal is to stay as close to SAPs standard as possible.

As there is no restriction mentioned about delta and time selection there must be a way to pass a time frame when initializing the delta.
I tried the following:
1. I startet an Infopackage in full mode with the follwing filter criteria: BEGDA = 01.10.2009; ENDDA = 31.10.2009
The extractor dilivers ~60000 records; their inper is allways 10.2009. -> Selection worls fine
2. I started an Infopackage in delta init mode and exactly the same selection criteria as the full mode Infopackage and i receive millions of records whichs inper is spread over several years.
So the time selection is definitely not working in delta mode.
Are there any customizing settings I missed in the OLTP system?

Delta Init DTP DSO- Cube loads all requests

Hi,
i've loaded several Full Request to a DSO (Datasource 2LIS_02_ITM).
I had to to fragment it to 3 months per Full load because otherwise the data volume was too much for the rollback segment.
Now i want to load these requests from the DSO to a Cube.
I created a Delta DTP and selected the "All new data by request" option.
The DTP starts as a Delta Init but selects all open requests at once and crashes with a "ORA-01555: snapshot too old..." error.
As a workaround i created several Full DTPs that only load part of the data but i really want to understand why the Delta Init doesn't work as expected and documented (to load request by request in a new process).

That's the option i've selected.
When monitoring the DTP-Request i see in the head data that all requests from the DSO are selected at once.

Question on Delta Init Loads

Hi All,
I have a basic question on Delta Inits. I am a beginner in BW and would truly appreciate any input.
At my company, we currently are doing delta loads on the cube 0RT_C35 (Material Movements). They did the Delta Inits prior to that.
Now if we were to add new fields to the cube and need to populate data to the new fields from the beggining, how do I go about doing it..?
Should I delete the Delta Init requests and redo the Delta Inits..? What will happen to the Delta loads that are running daily then..?
Can someone please give me the steps that I need to follow in a sequence.
Like I said, it might be a basic question..but I am not familiar with this process.

I will not be doing it today based on the priority of the tasks..but this is something I will have to do eventually in the next 1-2 weeks. I will definitely let you know how it goes.
So once the mapping and everything is in place and is ready to be loaded, bascially I need to delete data from the datatarget, put the delta job on hold, reinit the delta requests and then I should be able to do the delta jobs again right..?

The other issue is that there are probably 25 Delta inits that they did based on the number range for the Material Nbr. But they have only 1 delta. So does the delta job cover the data for all the Delta Init requests..?

Generic Delta: Init, Full Upload and Deltas...

Last week on 10.04.2014 I've created "Generic DataSource with Generic Delta" and used CalDay as Delta-Specific Field and lower limit kept to blank and upper limit to 1. On 11.04.2014 I've initialized the Delta with Data Transfer using Process Chain: Time 1:15 p.m (Note: Posting was on)

Result: Process Chain was scheduled to immediate and it executed and initialized the delta and brought records as well. See below screen shot of RSA7:
Q: 1: Why generic delta current status is 10.04.2014, as I'v scheduled delta through process chain on 11.04.2014 @ 20:50: and why Total column is showing 0 records? Even I've checked Display Data Entries with Delta Repetition, but could not find any records?
Following is the InfoPackages which I created for Delta Loads and used in another Process Chain for Delta scheduled (daily @ 20: 50).

I clearly got ur point.....But
If i have situation like ....." I loaded the LO data from R/3 with Init delta......then i loaded 5 loads of delta too.......due to some error in data now i am trying to load all th data......In this case if i do Full upload it is going to bring all the data till 5 th delta load .......If i do Init delta again it is going to bring the same data as full upload..........In LO while loading both Full load or delta init load we need to lock R/3 users....I believe we can load delta even after full upload by using "Init delta without data transfer"............So that wont be the barrier....then what is the difference or how should i figure out which load should i do.............If i am wrong please correct me.......

Delta INIT problems in production system

How do you do, I hope all fine, well, I have a problem in production system, I execute the delta init and the data is in BW the problem is when I want to activate the data, the system give me a processing error, somebody can helpme please?

I don't understand the reason behind delta Init Failure. source system check is also OK. Message reads

 Also extraction tab is red and this reads Error occurred in the data selection

Replicating datasource didn't do good. I did Full update but It's not allowing to do Init.With full upload I tried to see the data in ODS, this message is stopping me.

Full repair or Delta Init?

Hi Experts
I need your suggest
a)
Sometime we need made a re-load one month, and Im using a 'full repair'; but this give me errors (duplicate or missing records) where users are working in R/3 at the same time. Other posibilite is a 'full load' + 'delta init with out records'. Which is better in this case?
b) People say than after use a 'full load' you lose the init flag and is necessary made a init again.
In this case a made a 'full load' for 001.2008, and 'full repair' for 002.2008; and the init flag / delta load seemed ok. Is this possible?
c) When use a 'full repair', (with selection scope = 001.2008), how does it work? read from R/3 again or repeat the delta loads for the month specified in the selection, in the infopackage?

How to do delta loading again based on delta init time?

Hi experts,
   in my case, I have delta init (2000 - 9999) which successed on 3.1 (it's huge data and time consuming) after that, we have delta loading per day.
   unfortunately, we do some wrong process when we get delta failed, it's cause some data missing in BW.
   3.5   delta success
   3.4   delta fail, do right delta correction (repeat delta)
   3.3   delta fail, do wrong delta correction
   3.2   delta success
   3.1   delta init success
   in this case, we miss some records in 3.3 's request. if I going to fix this problem, formal way it should do delta init again then schedule daily delta. but since delta init is successful and need lot of time.
can I advoid do delta init again?? just do delta again base on delta init (3.1) ??

Hi jie,
Whenver you incur a Failure when data is being loaded from R/3 systems to BW via DELTA. It means that the Records were not transferred during that load to BW from R/3.
Hence the next load is always a REPEAT DELTA.
It may happen at times that you may miss few records in this.
If so, then in that case do a repair request from infopackage scheduler and then load the missed records.
Then again start off with Delta and loads should not have any problems.
Else you need to do a Re-Init of Delta. And re - do all over again.
Cause every time we miss the records we need to bring them in via repair request.

Automate deletion of delta init

Hi everyone,
We currently have a process in place for a master data delta load - where if the load fails - a delta init with data transfer is run.
We are running into issues becase deleting the existing delta init is not part of the process.
Is there a way to automate the deletion of a delta init? I know I can remove it from the RSREQDONE table, but that does not remove it from the Infopackage -> Scheduler -> Initialization Options for Source system. If its not deleted from there, then the delta init with data transfer does not work.
Any suggestions?

To automate the deletion of the delta initialization for a DataSource, use the SAP delivered program RSSM_DELETE_INITSEL_OLTP.

Process Chain Steps to upload into teh Cube for delta init

I have all the delta init info package in my Process chain for all the DSO themn i have DSO ACtivation step and third is Furhter Processing....
It ran Ok for all the DSO but it Did not update the data into the Infocubes... Also all my DSO setting is Update data into the data target,,, >> Set the status to ok automatically..

Create a info package for the DSO to Cube by going to the 8 Datasource and load the data.
From the time you start delta you should not face any issues.

What happend to past delta data if we delete Delta INIT from Cube? safe ?

Hi Friends,
we have a cube where delta data is loaded daily from ODS.
So, cube have many delta requests and data is compressed.
Now have some problem and need to delete Delta INIT from this Cube and run fresh delta INIT again into Cube from ODS. Is that safe ?
If we do this...is there is any problem with past delta data availble in the Cube?

Hi,
I told you to check this before deleting the init as it very tough to manage it after that.
Now those delta request are missed and I dont think can be retrieved without doing a full repair with proper selection.
If you do a new init then there should be no request without a check for data mart status??
So you found it before deleting the init??Then you should not have deleted the init as I told earlier.
The only option is too reload the whole histroy again if you are not able to load it through selections in infopackage.
First do a selective deletion from the cube for the same selections and then schedule the full load for those selections from DSO.make sure these selections cover the whole scenario.
You cannot do anything else now to correct it.
If you data is not huge in cube then delete the whole data and reload it.
Schedule multiple loads from the DSO at the same time through different infopackages.
this will save time as weill will do the loads in quick time.

Hi,
Early Delta Initialization
With early delta initialization, you have the option of writing the data into the delta queue or into the delta tables for the application during the initialization request in the source system. This means that you are able to execute the initialization of the delta process (the init request), without having to stop the posting of data in the source system. The option of executing an early delta initialization is only available if the DataSource extractor called in the source system with this data request supports this.
Extractors that support early delta initialization are delivered with Plug-Ins as of Plug-In (-A) 2002.1.
You cannot run an initialization simulation together with an early delta initialization.

Need of Change log deletion for a DSO, when DTP delta Init with Active Tabl

Thanks for your time, please help me with the following
Scenario: I have Cube1 being updated from DSO1 with DTP delta, for quite some time. As per new requirement, I would need to create new data mart such that Cube2 gets updated from DSO1.
In order to Configure the delta, I am Considering Following options, please let me know, which one is right one.
Note: DSO1 is in Overwrite Mode.
Create one DTP with update Mode "Delta" , and "Active Table". I knew Delta Changes are captured in change log, but my understanding is, when you execute the DTP for the First time, it fetches the records from Active Table. And from 2nd Run onwards the very "same DTP" without "any changes" get the records from change log, even if we choose "Active Table".
is my understanding is Right?
Do I have to consider deleting the change log, because DSO1 is in Production from quite some time which is in Overwrite mode?
Do I have to create a DTP with Delta and Active Table, run the dtp Once(Init), then choose "Change Log for subsequent runs explicitly
please help me with these. I have reviewed many sap help articles and sdn threads but none of them were helpful. all of them explains, difference b/w active table and change log table, also gives scenarios like use a full DTP and then 2nd DTP with Delta without Data transfer. I am not looking for that kind of details.

to your question, If I need to load all the data from DSO1 to Cube1, answer is NO. if you read my post once again,
Existing Flow is : DSO1 --> Cube1 (Means, Active Table and Change Logs of DSO1 already Filled Up)
Requirement is: DSO1 --> Cube2. (Need to Init the Delta, and Detlas going forward)
My Questions:
(1) Imagine, DSO1 has 10 requests, so we see resepctive data in Active Table as well as Change Log. As a matter of fact, Data is being updated to DSO1 in Overwrite Mode, so all the changes(10 requests equivalent) would be captured in Change Log, which in turn helpful / used when we do Delta from DSO1 to any Cube, in my case, it used to update to Cube1. As per new requirement, it needs to update to Cube2.
My assumption is, if I choose "Active table and Delta in Extraction Tab" in DTP, During First Run (Delta Init), Data would be fethed from Active table. And the 2nd Run Onwards, delta records would be fetehced from Change Log automatically, even if we don't change the selection from Active Table to Change Log.
Is My Assumption Right?,
in this process, Do I have to Delete Change Log
(2) Do I have to Explicitly change DTP setting from "Active Table to Change Log" Once Delta Init has been run with setting "Active table" inorder to get Deltas from DSO1 --> Cube2 ?

I am not getting Update mode D for one of the standard extractor. Hence, I did a Delta init w/o data transfer for it and tried using rsa3. Still not getting the Delta option. Am just seeing Full (F) mode.

DTPs - Delta Init without Data transfer.

Hi All,
I am implementing the DTPs in my project where we replicate the old 3.x extractions with the bw7x functioanlity;
Can anyone tell me if their is way to implement the "Delta Init without Data transfer" scenario with DTPs for
both R/3 to BW(ODS) extraction or for the Datamarts - ODS to Cube within BW??

Hi Rao,
Yes u can achieve Initialization without data in BI 7 DTPs.
Goto ur DTp's Execute Tab, and Processing mode there drop down the list and select No Data Transfer,Delta Status in Source: Fetched.
