[Demo] Differences between IDES, Sneak Preview, ES Discovery Systems

It has become quite complicated to navigate between all the demo systems

There is major problems I think, knowing:
- what exactly are the functionalities (and consequently, what audience is targeted) provided by Sneak Preview (SDN), IDES systems (through Software Catalog), ES Discovery systems (I am sure I am missing some of them).
 For instance, IDES offer functional modules and Sneak preview doesn't
- what level of partnership is needed (none [for instance for products available in the SDN Download section] to get those sustems, SAP Partner for IDES, SAP Global Partner for Software Catalog)
- what is the trial period (if any) : is it possible to renew the license, if yes for how long...
If I have made mistakes, feel free to correct me, that's the whole point of this post.
I think a blog or a Wiki could help hundreds of people !

IDES contains a complete ERP with data of a fake company (IDES), as otherwise you had to spend weeks to implement this to do any useful things in an ERP.

All SDN downloads only need SDN membership, which is available to anybody signing up.

IDES is only available to customers and partners and this depends on the country you live in. There is no IDES download on SDN.

All trial periods are 90 days for legal reason. I know we did different in the past, but had to change this.

Because of the legal reason trial licenses are not intended to be renewed. Nevertheless, as we usually provide new downloads every 6 month or so question is when such rights end, as new downloads renew the evaluation period. Well, the intention is to inform you guys about our software and that is what you essentially do with it (for the most part).

Firstly, IS is meant for Industry Solutions which means the SAP Components are specifically developed for respective Industries, for example: IS-OIL, IS-MINING, IS-RETAIL, IS-SEM, is for Oil basin companies [Industries], Mining companies, Retail Industries, and SEM for Strategic Enterprise Management respectively.
So, the SAP Components which are required for CLIENT IMPLEMENTATION those can be dowloaded or purchased from SAP Service Market Place.

NW2004s ABAP Sneak Preview - License Installation - System No. is empty

I have requested extended demo licence for ABAP Sneak Preview. I received the following in mail from SAP.
Your Hardware key : XXXXXXXXXXX
Your License Key : XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
License Expiration date: 20060521
SID : NSP
Installation-Nr. : DEMOSYSTEM
When I am trying to install demo (90 days) license using transaction SLICENSE, I get a screen asking for
SAP System: NSP
Inst. Number: DEMOSYSTEM
Hardware Key: XXXXXXXXXXXX
System Number: <leaving empty>
Expires On: 21.05.2006
Key: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
If I enter the System Number as blank it says "Invalid License Key". On the SLICENSE screen it says
System Number "System No. Empty"
Please suggest, What value is need to be provided for system number.

I had the same problem. After loging off and loging on again, I skipped the field System Number, filling in the other details.
This time the license was accepted. I hope it works for you too.

Difference between the XML for the "Initial System Data" in the module ERM

I wan to know what's the difference between the XML for the "Initial System Data" in the module ERM of SAP GRC AC 5.3.
RE_init_clean_and_insert_data.xml
RE_init_append_data.xml
RE_init_methodology_data.xml
And what "Initial System Data" do I have to put?? the rule set?

Pablo,
I am sorry but I am not able to get the question so I will explain as per my understanding. All of these three xml files contain necessary out of the box data which is required for ERM to function. Without this data, your ERM would not work so this is the first thing you want to do in ERM after successful installation.
After that, you will have to create connector and landscape and then synchronize transaction code, auth objects, fields, values etc by running through each background job one by one.

Difference Between the Render Preview Options

Hi,
I am quite new to using Lightroom and I would love someone to explain to me in laymans terms what the difference is between the render preview options when importing images in Lightroom 3.2. It seems very hard to find any info on it elsewhere.
Any help would to choose between 'Minimal', 'Embedded & Sidecar', 'Standard' and '1:1' to improve my workflow would be much appreciated.
If it makes a difference... I work with relatively large batches of around 1,000 - 1,500 raw images that I create edits of and convert to jpeg. I am using a 27" iMac i5 with 8gb of ram.

Differences between Print and Preview

Hello dear developers,
The preview in the Active Control of Crystal Reports XI.5 differers significatly from what is printed... any Ideas how this can be? Page borders are set correctly in the report, to the same margins as the printer. I believe, the font rendering differs, but how can the preview be of any value, if it is not the same as whats printed?

I found it out by myself... I had to uncheck the box
[ ] No printer, optimize for Screen Preview
in the Printer Settings. Thanks for reading this anyway...

Difference between thumbnails and previews?

Even before I start Skin Smoothing, AP3 starts and bogs down in 'Generating Thumbnails'. The whole Skin Smoothing adjustment is bogged down with even the smallest application and continues for some time - presumably AP3 has a constant stream of this same process.
But ... what is a thumbnail? Is it the same as a Preview? How are both used by AP3? I fail to see why the 'Generating Thumbnails' needs to done until the adjustment is finished since it degrades the visual of the adjustment being done of the displayed photo.

Thumbnails are the small images in the browser. If you just imported an old library or a new set of photos, you should give AP time to generate the thumbnails.

Difference between SAP cProjects and SAP Project System

SAP already has a solution PS ( Project System ) for managing the projects in an Organization.
When there is a solution already existing then why did SAP come up with a new solution cProjects ?
Can any help me in understanding the main differences and advantages between cProjects and PS ?

I have copied an SAP text below which sets PS, cProjects, (x)RPM and PPM into context.
In the ninties, the Project System was developed within SAP R/3 to provide a powerful application with full integration into logistics and financials.
Target groups were industries such as engineering and construction, automotive, high tech or utilities with focus on project manufacturing or large maintenance projects.
Later on, the need for more flexible and easy-to-use tools supporting the new process methodologies, phased-based approaches, quality gates, and so on, emerged. SAP developed Collaboration Projects and Collaboration Folders (cProjects Suite), which takes these new requirements into account and provides extensive features to collaborate with internal and external partners using a HTML-like interface and Web Application Server technology.
Thus, cProjects was able to address to a broader range of industries, such as service providers, offering a high degree of visibility and flexibility to support various scenarios from product development to consulting projects. Difference between EHP4 Ready and Installed EHP4 system

When i installed EHP4 Ready System the SPRO path is somewhat different from the EHP4 IDES system for some of activities.
Also when i installed the EHP4 using solman the SPRO is same what was there in the EHP4 Ready system.
Let me elaborate , what we are experiencing
1. For Ex : Easy DMS node is not there in the EHP4 Ready and also not after the installation of EHP4 , Does selection of technical usage effects the functionality ? like in easy dms as we did not select the technical usage of easy DMS in solman while upgrading the process.
2. Also if we have missed this easy DMS stuff , how can we install now ?

Hi,
In EHP4 Ready system, all the basic netweaver components are on 701 release like SAP_Basis, SAP_ABA etc. and all ERP components are on 600 release. So, you cannot use this system as such.
You need to upgrade EHP4 Ready system to EHP4 level using EHPi installer. For that you need to select required usage type in MOPZ in solution managerwhich you want to use in the system and then upgrade it.
As in your case you need to upgrade only easy DMS component in your as system as I assume your system is already upgraded to EHP4 level.

Difference between client Export/Import and a system refresh

Hi Experts,
I would like to know the diffrence between client Export/Import and System refresh.
Actually i have done client export from our production system and imported it into our quality system, I have asked our functional consultants whether the production data is now available in Quality. They replied me saying whole data of production system is available in Quality system as off date i have copied the export.
The size of the export was around 8GB, How can this have all the data of Production system which is around 600 GB.
In this way what is the use of System refresh which is done by database level ( changing the cntrl file etc... ), As i am getting all the data by doing Client Export/Import.

What is system refresh when and why it is done?
The system refersh is nothing but the deletion of the client and replacing the data from other client. For example : you have clients 100, 200 and 300. Suppose when you want to refresh the client 100 you remove the client 100 and replace it with 200 0r 300 as per your reqiurement.
Mostly the refresh of clients will be happen at the time of development stage.
System Refresh is a simplified term to Client Copy. Client Copy means copying the production client on to the quality to test the real data. As recommend by SAP this need to carried out every 3 months.
The process to carry out the same is as follows:
1. Create a client on quality system using txn scc4
2. Create a RFC between Production system and Quality System (need to create on quality system)
3. Login to the newly created client using sap* and pass as a password
4. Txn sccl to start the client copy.
You can test the client copy by selecting the test run option. (test run will estimate the time taken for the activity).

It explains clearly the benefits of BCS as well as migration tools that SAP provides. If you do not have some non-standard enehancements in your Former Budgeting, then migration won't be a problem.

Difference between SMQ1 and RSA7 in CRM system?

We all know that in R3 systems and for LO Cookpit applications, SMQ1 can display outbound queue which usually contains the updated records on R3 systems for LO Cookpit application data and then after scheduled V3 job, these updated records on R3 systems can be moved from the outbound queue (SMQ1) to Delta queue (RSA7) and wait for BW Delta extraction.
However in CRM systems, there should be no such scheduled V3 job, does that mean SMQ1 = RSA7 in CRM systems, or in other words, both T-Codes or the Outbound queue (SMQ1) and the Delta queue (RSA7) show the same updated records and wait for BW extraction?
Anyone's answer is greatly appreciated!

RSA7 will hold the delta records nothing but delta queue.But in SMQ1 is used to delete the entries(data) in the delta Queue.

EP6 in sneak preview edition

I have downloaded the NW04 SP15 Sneak Preview Edition from SDN and it has EP6 along with it. I am working on it at the moment. I would like to know whether there are any differences between the sneak preview edition and the licensed version of the portal? Or is it exactly the same, and the difference lies only in the license?
