Demo EP Online

Is there a demo EP available online?
I want to research EP for my company but we cannot istall it on out local host (no such resources).

There are not many "new" features in the 60.2 package...it is basically Java Webdynpro replacements of the previous ITS-based services. Keep in mind, the 60.2 package only replaces some of the previous ones right now, so it is often the case that you will still need to implement the prev. package. (50.4). I will say, the newer ones are really nice (but hey, ITS ESS is about 10 years old now! haha)

Good luck on screenshots. I am currently putting my own library of them together, since I have accees to a system. You can see some of the "new" stuff in some of the presentations available online....I think Address Change and Leave Request are the ones I recall seeing most. (*besides searching for "ESS" or "Self Service" presenations...look for "User Interface" or "UI" since the new ESS is built upon the People-centric UI.)
Another good spot to utilize is the mySAP ERP forum on here...lots of folks there are doing ESS work too.

No its not possible to have demo server online.As XI is a message broker and it needs to have all the systems in the landscape registered in SLD.
In your case its not possible to have dynamic registration of your acessing system in SLD if you want to work online jus like W3c schools.

SQL Developer Data Modeler suggestions

Not sure where to post this (unable to connect to the blog from work due to network restrictions), hope this is the correct forum.
I am testing out the Data Modeler product. I've got a large database that I want to reverse engineer, then work with the resulting model. I used the import feature which successfully imported all 1849 tables from my schema. However, this created a diagram which wasn't really useful. A couple of things I believe would be useful.
1. Add better connectivity between the browser that shows the table listing and the diagram. When I click on a table, I'd like the corresponding element in the diagram to be highlighted (and vice-versa). Also, an option to have the diagram show that table would be useful (maybe a ctrl-click or shift-click).
2. Subviews - I don't see an easy way to add to a subview once it is created. So, add an option to the browser and diagram right-click menu to "Add to SubDiagram". Currently the diagram allows you to create a subdiagram, I didn't see an add option.
3. More keyboard shortcuts. Specifically, CTRL-Z to undo, CTRL-Y to repeat.
4. Defined column types. You've got naming rules, but I'd like to be able to define columns as a predefined type, like "Dollar Amount", which would make my column become a number(9.2) or something like that.

Go to Tools > General Options: Select Diagram and check the synchronize with tree option.

There are threads in the forum about subviews and you can look at the demos available online on the [Data Modeler|http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/datamodeler/index.html] page - we'll be adding more, but the import from Data Dictionary demo talks about subviews.
In short, select a few objects, right-click and create subview from selected, or right-click on the subview node in the browser and select new subview, and then drag the tables you want onto the new diagram.

We will be adding more shortcut keys.

These are Domains. Select Tools > Domains Administration, and add your domains.
I'm working on adding short demos for all these features and we'll build these up over time.

Any word on when HTML5 will be supported for deployment of FileMaker WebDirect?

Databases deployed through FileMaker's new WebDirect do not render properly in Firefox, apparently due to lack of support for HTML5. We deploy this on both Windows and Mac. -- Victor

I used to use FileMaker back in the day... when web publishing was primitive at best.
Do you know whether there is a publicly viewable demo site online that a volunteer could use to examine this problem? I suspect it might be hard for you to provide enough detail just with text. Or perhaps you can post a screen recording illustrating the problem.

Progress Bars in Flash

Hi, I'm pretty much a novice at this- so am completely
baffled by what to do...
Basically, I have a seies of pictures and captions that I
want to make a flash progress loading bar to go before.
I've looked at the demo and online files- and, have managed
to get a bar working. However, when I implement my existing swf
file as the contentPath, it loads, but only shows the final image,
and wil not navigate through the others.
I have used the template for a photo slideshow in Flash 8,
which I have edited with my own graphics, and exported this to the
swf file that I have been trying to use.
Any ideas- this is driving me mad- especially as I don't
completely "get" flash yet...

I think you are saying you are using the Flash 8 Photo
SlideShows template and trying to customize it with a preloader.
I took a look at the code inside of it and here are some
comments to consider.
The problem with that is you would likely need to use the
first frame or first three frames depending on the preloader
solution. Preloaders need to be lightweight and before the heavy
content.
This would mean all the picture layer frames would need to
move right. The Actionscript in the template uses a function called
_currentframe for the image number in the controller. So that
Actionscript would need changing to handle the frame number offset
for example if you move everything to start at frame 4 all the
scripts need to add 4 to where _currentframe is used.
So if you are comfortable with dealing with the Actionscript
updates and getting the movie to work starting on a frame greater
than 1, then you can pursue a preloader.
A preloader would be necessary if you think the time it takes
for the first frame to show is too long and that the user would be
quick to click the forward button to go to additional frames before
the bitmaps are downloaded. Otherwise the preloader need may be
unnecessary because all the remaining frames will be progressively
downloaded while the visitor is looking at the first image.

Getting the ESRIA Dashboard to import correctly into Flex Builder 3.

These options might be dangerous. If someone who knew nothing about the program with this function and he uses this program, it might hurt his system. Since this, it would be better not to post this code in the forum to avoid someone tried the code and hurt

Can APEX be used to replace an Oracle Forms 4.5 Application?

Hi,
I have an old Oracle 4.5 application that I need to quickly rewrite since the old environment will be decommissioned real soon. It is using a 9i database that will be upgraded to 10g.
The application consist mainly of about 14 forms and it is strictly data-entry only. I was thinking about using Oracle ADF or JAVA but it seems like quite alot of wrong and APEX looks like it could save me some work.
Is there a download for the tool that I am missing. I did download the zip file apex_2.2.zip but I do not see a actual tool included. Sorry for asking this dumb question but do I need to have my DBA do something with this zip file or am I missing something.
I checked and I see some SQL scripts, do these need to be run first to setup the tool. I looked at the demo presentation online and it looks like there is a tool in browser that I can use.

At the unzip location of apex_2.2.zip, you should go to the doc/install.22 directory. You'll find there a very detailed installation guide, which will tell you, and your DBA, everything you need to know about the installation and configuration actions you need to take, prior, during and post installation. This is a very important document, and you should follow it to the letter.
BTW, you don't need to install any earlier version, from any companion CD, especially if your company already using OHS/IAS, as Jes mentioned. The Apex 2.2 version in your zip file is a full version, and you can install it directely. I'm guessing Farhan meant that it can be easier for inexperienced user to use the companion cd to install both the Oracle HTTP Server and Apex, but experience DBA can install each component separately, using the versions your company own/using.

Aperture 2 vs Photoshop CS3

I'm currently looking to upgrade to a Mac and I use CS3 on a Windows XP Pro machine now. I don't know much about the Macs, but I've been impressed with in store demos and online discussions with ease of use.
What I'd like to know from other users is "does Aperture 2 provide any value in a workflow set up?" Since a cost of moving to the new platform will bring some other costs (new software in various areas), I'm trying to limit my investment costs. Does Aperture (at least the way I understand) only provides a light table type approach with basic editing capability? How powerful are the editing tools?
How easy is it to set up a Mac on a home LAN that contains several other Windows machine (my thought here is a "sharing" between the Mac where I'll download and do Aperture processing of files and use the Windows CS3 machine for the "heavy" post processing - since I rarely get an exposure that doesn't need post processing).

Not really. Both integrate well with the OS and with Photoshop.
Photoshop and Aperture/Lightroom are totally different apps. For advanced image editing one needs an app like Photoshop or Photoshop Elements. If one does substantial DSLR image capture an image management app like Aperture or (less good) Lightroom are invaluable. Aperture requires strong MacIntel hardware but LR will run on PCs and weak Macs.
I strongly recommend that every digital photog with adequate computer hardware first spend $33 and work through the tutorial CD

IMO a cursory examination of Aperture usually turns out to be mostly a waste of time, or leads to bad workflow habits or folks simply do not get it. Carefully working the tutorial is by far the best way to learn this new killer app category.

Flash (swf) files won't play LOCALLY

For a couple years now I've been making Flash demos that are
embedded in an HTML page, for viewing online. The exact same pages
also work offline, ie. from a CD, USB drive, or another PC's hard
drive.
Suddenly, that just stopped working! I've done all the
troubleshooting and bug elimination I can do - there's no reason I
can come up with why the pages which preview fine off my authoring
PC and work perfectly when online, DON'T work anymore when the
exact same directory is taken to another PC.
All the referred links are in place, I can view the SWF from
USB when I drag & drop the file to a browser (so the plugins
are fine), I know the linking is correct, but when the HTML is
viewed locally from another machine, the embedded SWF just... never
appears. My old pages done the same way still work, but no new
pages do. I've compared code side-by-side and it all looks fine...

I FIGURED IT OUT! The AC_RunActiveContent.js script was not
being correctly pathed to by Dreamweaver, even when brand new pages
were made. For the script to be created the first time (and it
won't mention it again after that), you have to start a whole new
site. Once I did that, the clues finally started fitting together.
Found the code via search, fixed the offending path, and
voila.

List view Thumbnails

Is there a way to change the size of the thumbnails when shown in a column in the list view?
I am sure it is probably right in front of me but cant find it.

Create Slow Motion WIth A Timer?

I had asked in another forum if it was possible to have 2
different FPS's in a movie. And the answer was no. What i wanted to
do was have some slow motion parts in my movie. The same person who
answered said that it is possible with a timer. I have never used a
timer. And all the research i do on it comes up with Countdown
timers, and clocks, everything but what i would assume i need. Can
anyone help or clarify this for me?
I am making a sprite movie ( i know learn how to draw). I
think there fun. And mine are a bit more creative than most as far
as story and things in it. But there are some parts of the action
that i would like to slow down.
