Demo Recording on a PDA

Hi,
We are planning to record a video demo of the working of MAU 3.0 Application on a PDA.
We have a PDA on which the application is working fine.
I need to know the softwares which can be used to record the screens as a video on a PDA.
Like, we are using Camtasia for our desktop Client.
Can you suggest any such tool which will help us in recording our demo.
Rahul

Hi,
You can use pocket PC controller to record the same. Install pocket pc controller on your laptop/desktop and then connect your PDA to the same and now you can operate the PDA from the desktop with mouse and keyboard.
So now you can use any recording softwares on your desktop/laptop like snagit or any other software to record the demo.
Hope this helps.
Best Regards,
Siva.

  • Error doing demo recording of Acrobat

I filed a bug but don't know how long it will take for a
response. I'm trying to do a demo recording of a PDF in Acrobat
Professional 8.1 at 1024x768. All goes well until I add a form
field to the PDF. The properties box pops open and all seems well
until I click any drop-down menu like Visibility, or Font. at that
point Acrobat crashes and Captivate continues to run fine. What is
causing the crash and how do I stop it?
    - Rob

    Hi Rob
Don't bate your breath waiting on a response from Adobe. This
is because the Bug Reporting form is largely a one way street.
Don't get me wrong, they do see these. But seldom do they respond.
You would have better luck seeing official support. I believe the
bottom of this page has a link to support. Just in case you are
looking at this via E-Mail, I'll create a link
    right here that
    should do the same thing.
Hopefully this helps a tad... Rick

  • Merge a demo and a training recording

I recorded a software simulation in both demo and assessment mode.
Is it possible to merge the two? I think it makes sense to let the users watch the demo and then take the assessment. But when I was trying to copy all the slides from the assessment recording to the demo recording, I was unable to copy the "Quiz Result" slide.
So what is the correct way to have demo, training, and assessment in the same project?

As long as the two projects share the same physical height and width dimensions you should be able to just copy and paste slides from one to the other.
The Quiz Results slide MUST be generated in the final module so that everything works properly when it comes to the quiz scoring.  So don't try to paste that one across.
Additionally, be aware that Captivate only allows you to have one quiz (and therefore one Quiz Results slide) per project.  However, you can dummy up your own Quiz Results slide using variables if you want to have it.

  • Wonky Demo Output - Misaligned Text Boxes and Jumpy Mouse

    Hello All,
I'm using Captivate 3 to record a demo of an internal
    organization's web-based system. As I'm recording I immediately
noticed that the mouse gets very jumpy and fades in and out
whenever I try to scroll up/down or side to side. It takes it
approximate 4-8 seconds to "catch up" and reappear on the demo
recording screen. It creates a chopping appearance.
Once I view the recorded demo, the mouse appears to be
trailing and creating weird lines (they fade after 3 seconds or so)
along the path the mouse previously traveled. Additionally, the
auto caption and highlight boxes are totally misaligned with the
various links I selected during the demo. Has anyone else seen
these same issues and maybe figured a way to fix them? Could it
simply be a matter of changing some global recording settings? Any
    suggestions?
    Thanks for your help!

Hi eLearningDeveloper and welcome to the community.
I think the problem might lie in the time to capture vs the
time to load. To clarify, when you click on a screen, Captivate
reacts almost instantly in recording what is on your screen at that
time. Unfortunately, since you are capturing off a server (web
based system), your screen takes a while to refresh, thus Captivate
is recording "incomplete" pages. My suggestion is to use a manual
capture method in cases like this i.e PrtScrn to capture your
screenshots and manually sart and end Full Motion Recording for
drag&drop type of capture The keys used are customisable at
    Edit/Preferences under the Recording node.
Lastley, work slowly thus allowing full screen refreshing at
    each stage.
    Hope this helps.
    Andrew
PS On another subject, try not to save your cp files to the
company server as this could lead to file corruption issues, rather
    save to the standalone PC.

  • Recording and Screen Shots

Using software simulation in Captivate 7 , I'm recoriding a project for an application that has many drop down arrows and typing insertions on 1 dialog box.  The challenge is each time I usethe mouse a new screen is created so the audio does not match the slide.  What am I doing wrong.  The Adobe HelpDesk said to use the Pause button to move to the next screen which then removes the mouse from the dialog box.
    Many thanks.
    Allen

    Hello, welcome,
I suppose you use the Automatic capture, not the video demo recording since you are talking about slides.
In automatic capture I really recommend to do the narration separately from the recording, synchronizing is not that hard because you have a lot of static slides. Only for mouse movements like dragging Captivate will switch to Full Motion Recording (FMR) which has a lower quality (set it to 32-bit). Personally I prefer to stop the automatic recording when I want a mouse movement to be captured and insert Recording Slide, HD Video Demo instead. You don't have to record everything at once, you can always add recording slides, either Video Demo or Automatic captured static slides.
It is also possible to add mouse objects while editing. Are you bit new to Captivate?

  • Captivate 7 - Video Demo Function

Hi,  I am a brand new user to captivate and i am wanting to make use of the video demo option to record a training session on Microsoft Office Applications.  This requires me to record both the screens that i am using and my voice (using a headset).  I am currently fumbling around with this because i cannot seem to find any help material or tutorials on how to use it  - is there anything available?  Also, just one really simple question, how do i pause the demo and then re-start it?  I can currently only end the project using the End key.
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi there,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums!
For detailed information on recording in Captivate you can launch the online help of Captivate : http://helpx.adobe.com/captivate/topics.html# then check the recording section.
If you are recording in Video Demo, then you cannot Pause the recording, Puase works in case of recording software simulation.
We can only record one screen at a time in Captivate, voice can be recorded during recording the screen.
To edit the recording Preferences, please go to Edit > Preferences > Recording.
However, after ending the video demo recording you can record additional slides (insert > video recording), after recording all the slides, you can edit the slides (Split, Pan and zoom, and Trim).
    Thanks.

  • Editing Full motion recording

    Hi,
I have a full motion recording that is fine until I place a 100% solid highlight over some white thext that is on part of my desktop where I am recording, set it to arrange to back and or merge with background, but when a dialog box from the application I am recording comes up, it is partially hidden by my highlight box.
I have tried it with a smart shape too, but same problem comes up...and I cannot change the desktop background in my department at work.
    Any help please, much appreciated.
    Rossco

    Rossco,
Are you talking about Video Demo recording? It is because you talk about 'merging with background', which is not possible when you are doing such a recording? The video editor allows only to put objects like highlight boxes on top of the video.

  • Captivate 7 Video Demo using excessive bandwidth

When I create a video using the Video Demo mode, Captivate allows me to select bitrate settings.  Because we have very limited bandwidth at some of our locations, I tried selecting the lowest possible bitrate of 0.19 Mbps as the Target and Maximum bitrate.
I inserted the finished MP4 file as a Progressive video into a .cptx Captivate file.  I published the result as a flash file - basically using the flash file as a player for the MP4 file.  When I tested it at one of our locations, it did not download at the 0.19 speed, it consumed the entire bandwidth available.
What did I do wrong?  Am I missing the ability to transcode to a selected speed?  Is Captivate just encoding the MP4, but not transcoding it to control the bandwidth consumption?
This is way more than I know - I'm used to encoding a video and then uploading it to a service that transcodes it to the maximum bitrate of the encoded video.  However, I cannot use streaming video for this project.
Can anyone help me on this?

  • C8: Video Demo - red frame doesn't go away.

Not sure if this is a graphics card issue or a Captivate bug - I tried to use Video Demo to capture a small amount of video and had some issues:
First, the video did not stop recording when I pressed END.  The program actually shut down and I had to reload it - when I reloaded the program, it instantly brought up the video clip I was making.  I didn't save and attempted to start the video demo recording again.  This time it stopped recording, and the program didn't close, but I still had an issue with finding my way back to a 'normal' screen.  As I've never used the Video Demo portion of Captivate, I don't know if this is normal?
Second, the red frame that you use for the capture area will not go away.  I've closed the Captivate program, and the red frame is still on my monitor.  I turned my monitor off and on again, and the red frame is still there.
Has anyone else had this issue? Any solutions?

    Hi there
If you position your mouse directly on the red frame, are you able to click and drag it to a new location or dimension? If so, it sounds like Captivate may be sort of "stuck" in some phase of the recording process.
    PC or Mac?
If PC, try the three finger salute and see if you are able to terminate the process. Not sure if Mac has a similar operating system feature.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Pasting recording slides

This is my first Captivate presentation; basically a learning experience.
I have a file that is converted from a PowerPoint slide show and another that is a recording of some activity in Word.  I attempted to copy slides from the recording and paste them into the PowerPoint presentation.
When pasted into the PowerPoint show, the recording slides don't render correctly. I don't see the full width of the original recording, and when it shows a click on an object at the edge of the display, it jumps out of place to fit in the space rendered.
Is that typical?  And what's the correct way to merge slides from PowerPoint and clips from a demo recording into a single Captivate presentation?

    Hello,
Have some questions: are those two files that you want to combine in one CP-file, if I understand well, the same resolution? How did you copy the slides? And what is the Quality setting of the slides (Properties panel, General region)?

  • My microphone has stopped working on my ipad 2 16GB 3G.  How do I get it to start working again?

I am not sure when it happened but my microphone has stopped working on my ipad 2.  I downloaded an application from the App Store called Starmaker for my daughter.  When she tried to follow the start up instructions, she could not make a demo recording as there is no sound.
My daughter and I have used the recording/sound facility before as, when away from, I have used Skype and my daughter has used the talking animal apps.
I have tried a hard reset and tried to clear the microphone by blowing on it and using the hoover attachment to clear it but unfortunately there has been no difference.
I would be grateful for any advice you have to clear this problem, so I can have the full use of my ipad again.
    Thank you.
    Becva5

If you have a passcode on the device and you don't know it, then thats another issue. For that, the ipad will need to be restored. This may or may not also resolve your mic issue.
You didn't say wether or not the mic fails with just this one app, or with facetime and skype as well.
Try this audio recording app if needed to test further
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/audio-memos-free-voice-recorder/id304075033?mt=8
I'd stay away from using anything like a vaccuum on the ipad, but clean air might work
Try backing up the ipad to both icloud and itunes first.

  • Is there a way to slow down the playback of video in Captivate 5?

I just made several recordings (FMR) and would like to slow them down for the viewer.  The video was actually of someone else's software demo that moved way too fast.  On the Captivate skin there is "2x" to move the video twice as fast, but no "1/2x".  Is there another way to slow down the video?
    Thank you!
