Denim update makes it impossible to charge Lumia 9...

In the morning the 930 is stone dead with 0% battery. Have to charge it with the wire charger. The same thing happened with my 920 last year after an update. What is wrong?

The update to Firefox 35 was made automatically when I opened the browser and now not a single website can appear. The browser says it can't connect to the website and that the "waiting delay is over". Usually I get this page when my Internet is off, but it's not, because I tried the same websites with two other browsers and it works perfectly. I want to use Firefox and not the other browsers, but now I'm stuck using the other ones because of that update. I'm on Windows 7 64 bit. Rotated photos problem on Lumia 930, 1520 with Denim update

There is an issue with photos taken on Lumia 930, 1520 with Denim update: camera uses EXIF rotation property instead of properly rotating the picture. As a result, apps which don't properly support EXIF.Rotation show photos rotated.
To reproduce, take the photo in vertical orientation on Lumia 930 with Denim update. Open Instagram official app (as an example), try adding new photo ->> you'll see that the photo is 90 degrees rotated.
Now question: is it a feature or is it a bug?
And if it is a feature, where is it documented?

Well, I am a developer writing my own app. And what I see is a sudden change in phone camera behavior, which affects and annoys lots and lots of users of my app (VK for WP), Telegram messenger app, and Instagram app, which I used as an example, because
it is well known.
It does seem like a feature to me now, so would't it make sense to have some native support for it? For example, make BitmapImage pay attention to EXIF and correctly rotate?
And again: is this change documented anywhere?
And please, bring my question where it was originally posted.

When will the Lumia Icon get the Denim Update?

The Denim Update will arrive for the Lumia Icon in early 2015. It just dropped today for Lumia 928 and Lumia 822: Verizon announces Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 to Lumia 928, Lumia 822 | Windows Central.
But, Microsoft said at IFA 2014 that the Lumia Denim would "first be available on our flagship phones...Lumia ICON": Microsoft Nokia Lumia Live Event Part 1 - Lumia Denim, Lumia 830 IFA 2014 - YouTube . Not happy. Check the youtube video out at the time 7:48.
So it appears that Lumia Cyan was skipped as some of us speculated in the forums.
Meanwhile, although you can only buy the Lumia 928 at Verizon, since Verizon discontinued (yanked off the shelves with disgust by iPhone and Android executives hehehe, jk) the Lumia ICON, you can still buy the Lumia ICON at the Microsoft store free with contract: http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/en_US/pdp/Verizon---Nokia-Lumia-Icon/productID.306508100

At this point Verizon should just let Microsoft deliver firmware directly to Lumia ICON users, like Apple delivers firmware updates to iPhone users, without carrier approval since Verizon doesn't even sell the ICON anymore.
Very disappointed in Verizon and Microsoft.
I wonder if the preview for developers version will receive the Denim update on the ICON any sooner than "early 2015"...

OK, I stand corrected -- and I'm thrilled about that!! According to Lumia Conversations, Verizon will be rolling out Denim to those that missed Cyan:

Yes, that means you’ll skip over the previous update, Lumia Cyan, and go straight to Denim!

I'm not thrilled about us Icon owners being last in line and waiting until 2015, but it's better than waiting for a Cyan update that will never come.

Vodafone/microsoft denim update issue for lumia 15...

This is for Anybody with vodafone in the uk that has a Lumia 1520!

The current update released is the Denim software, be aware, this is FALSE! According to vodafone (to which i have in writting) they do not alter the software of an of the microsoft handsets which means that if you are with vodafone, your handset is a country varient handset and there for the denim update is not yet available. This means that the stated vodafone specific 1520 does not exist and microsoft are missleading us all. I am in the process of having microsoft take this information off the website or at the very least have them deal with vodafone in this matter. As for the country varient hand sets, we are still waiting for the release of Denim.

It looks like the information about the Lumia 1520 Vodafone UK variant would have been on the site already for a while, as it also has previously received the Cyan update (Black -> Cyan), and devices with the Vodafone UK variant have been shipped to customers. So as I said previously, there should not be any major problem with the availability data on the site. The logic based on which Vodafone would have been selling phones with operator specific software or non-operator specific software to their customers though is something that I don't have full details for, so cannot comment that part more specifically. I can understand that you are upset with the fact that the Denim update is not still available for your phone, but removing the Lumia 1520 Vodafone UK row from the site would not change that. Hopefully the update will hit UK CV devices soon, as the Denim rollouts proceed.
We are looking at possibilities on improving the information on the site going forward though, and adding the manufacturer name detail (more specific identifier, than just country/operator infos) to the data rows might be potentially one such case. Will make a note of that.

Another request for Lumia 830 Denim update information

I have the AT&T variant of the Lumia 830 and am waiting for a firmware update to fix two issues. However, there has been no communication as to when this firmware update will be released. I have only a short window to return this device and if I do not know when the firmware will be released, I would prefer to return it now and buy something else rather than waiting for several months. Let me be clear. I'm looking for specific availability dates and not a vague assurance that it's coming "soon" and that I should keep checking to see if it's out. If this information is not available now to Customer Support, please make the effort to reach out to the responsible team that does have this information. Even a date range specified in terms of days, months, or weeks would be helpful, along with any details that can help us understand why there is a delay. Of course, even better than knowing the release date would be having the firmware update pushed to my phone today. So that you can understand why I am eager to get this update, I've provided additional information below. I realize that this issue has been raised in other threads, but I'm adding as much detail as possible here so that I can refer to this post from support calls and any attempts to escalate my issue. For example, a Microsoft Support Engineer noted on the Microsoft forum site that: Lumia 830 shipped with Denim already from the factory (and many of the "Denim" features, like Live Folders, were already included) - but in order to use the new Lumia Camera version, this slighly smaller software update is needed. Thanks for replying. While I was half-hoping that my lengthy plea might have been the straw that broke the camel's back, I can't say I honestly expected AT&T to change their policy and suddenly start delivering more timely releases of firmware updates with greater transparency about the process. As for me, I only had a small window of time to return the handset to AT&T. Having heard nothing, I figured that the safest course of action was to buy a carrier-unlocked RM-985 from a reputable retailer. After it shows up tomorrow, I'll still have time to return the AT&T variant. With Windows Phone 10 arriving shortly, this should ensure that I get that upgrade at least a month or two before users with the AT&T branded device. I'll also be able to lower the monthly bill, so that's a big side benefit. It's unfortunate that this is how AT&T operates. I imagine that they get more than a few returns of the device from people who couldn't get Netflix working and this has to be costing them some money. It certainly makes Windows Phone/Microsoft look bad as well, although they did ship the device with buggy firmware in the first place, even if they did provide a fix. Supposedly with Windows 10, Microsoft will no longer be allowing carriers to block phone updates, so the situation should improve. M

Issues with Denim update; Lumia 822

Good Day,
I have installed the newly available Denim update for my Lumia 822. But not without some glitches. If anyone can help me out, I'd sure appreciate it!
Problems (by #):
1. The pictures/photos tile no longer works. It just bounces back to that part of the screen. It says on it: "@C:\Programs\Photos\PhotoRes.dll,-2002." It shows on it the Sample Pictures on the SIM Card. The built in camera did the same thing until one of the restarts. It's not my SD card, which has my photos/images on it - the music app sees the music fine.
What else I think is related to this particular problem: Under Settings/Applications/photos+camera, I cannot get into photos+camera; I cannot get into Settings/Storage Sense; under Settings/Backup, I cannot go into auto upload for photos+videos.
What I've done:
* Took out the battery.
* Took out the SD Card, rebooted the phone without it, then put it back in again. When I turned on the phone, it did not come up with the usual question about where to change photos/videos, etc.
* Deleted all pics off the SD card.
* Put a couple of pics back on the SD card.
* Took a pic with camera to see if that would make the photos tile work. Nope. Not even the new pic from the camera helped.
* When into camera's settings and asked it to "find photos and videos." Nope.
Nothing has changed. It's not working. How can I get this to work?
2. My glance screen does show the weather even though I asked it to through Bing Weather app. This is something I thought Denim was supposed to offer.
3. The wallpaper for the tiles screen - I don't see that setting anywhere, but it looks like Denim is supposed to have it.
4. The following app files in the apps list (not on the main screen) show up as blank, gray squares: Alarms; Calculator; Games (shows up twice, one as a gray box, one as the xbox symbol); Settings; Wallet. What's with this? Which "Games" do I choose and do I delete one?
5. All the individual games are showing up in my apps list, and are all still listed under my Games app. Weird.
6. Xbox Music app has changed for the worse; I ended up downloading and using another music app instead.
7. Xbox Games used to show my Avatar be-bopping around the live tile; now it doesn't. So much for spending THAT money. I know, it was stupid, but fun.

Thanks for the feedback confirming the trouble is solved.
Temporarily disabling the real-time scanning in the antivirus software speeds up the download, both of the recovery tool itself and the firmware files, at least on my Windows-7 PC with MS Security Essentials. - The files are clean, the download just slows to a crawl if the real-time scan is enabled.
As the Original Poster you may unmark a post as the solution, and then mark another as the solution if you wish.

Nokia Lumia 822 Lumia Denim Update from Verizon

Hello All,
I have enrolled in Developer Preview on Nokia Lumia 822. My WPhone got windows 8.10.14219.341
The firmware version is 3051.40000.1352.0042 and it shows Lumia Black in the extras + info.
When I got the Verizon update, i tried to update several times.
It successfully downloads and prepares to install.
When it reboots and try to install the patch, it finishes quickly.
I get the message:
It's probably a temporary problem. To Try again, go to settings > Phone Update 0x80188308.
What should I do to get Lumia Denim update on my phone? Reset the phone ?
Please advise.

Will Lumia 1020 ever going to get Denim update, is...

I was googling about Lumia Denim update rolling out in india for 520 and 525 handsets. this update has some cool features, however, every other device is getting this update (now or in future) but lumia 1020 is not showing up?
is there a possiblity for getting Denim update for 1020? i think it has a similar chipset and processor (dual core not a quad) that of 520 and 525. then why ?
someone please let me know, if they received this update, or any workarounds to get that?

Nokia Lumia Icon denim update

I updated my phone as I was supposed to, and some features work. However I'm not able to open any apps, including Verizon which enables me to call. My photos don't open, in fact the only apps I can open are internet explorer, settings, and messages. Clicking on any other app just brings me back to the home screen. My error code was 80188257 which isn't displayed on the Microsoft help page. I restarted my phone, and the error code went away, and no updates are available. Nothing changed, I still can't open anything. What can I do to fix my phone???

Sounds like something went wrong during the update.
make sure the backup option in settings is enabled
Check people.live.com for your contacts
Check calendar.live.com for any calendar entries
move all media off of the phone
When you have backed up everything do a phone reset Settings > about > reset my phone
If this does not work, use Lumia Recovery Tool to reflash the phone.
