Denon AVR-X2100W - No Spotify Connect

Just purchased a new Denon receiver and everything is working OK except Spotify connect, it doesn't show as a device on the connect page. I can stream everything via AirPlay OK, but connect doesn't show. They are both running on the same network, but I wonder if there are any settings I need to consider for spotify specifically. I have tried searching the forums but haven't come up with anything so far. If anyone could point me in the direction of some help it would be much appreciated!

Hello people! I do not know if they have managed to solve the problem but anyway, I will report what I found. I've been researching a bit and worked for me, not as I would like but is meeting my need. First of course you must make sure that the AVR is properly configured on your network, after must open spotify APP on your device PC, Tablet, Mobile (windows, mac, android ... yet only one version beta allows you to control devices via PC, but will soon be working), your account will be PREMIUM to work. Once opened, the main window "now playing" the spotify click on the speaker next to the play controls, pause, forward and backward (icon spotify connect) then will open a window asking where equipment you would like to sync with spotify connect , AVR should be appearing on the list, if not it should not be compatible or has any connection problem. After this is done, you can close the APP spotify and control music on the AVR direct or control the AVR via device. I hope I have contributed in some way.

Those converters like the AsanteTalk are notorious for not re-acquiring Printers that drop out for any reason.
Get everything else powered up, then cycle off the AsanteTalk, count slowly to 10, then power the AsanteTalk on last.

  • Spotify Connect - Does not detect Denon Ceol N9

Hi, I have installed the spotify app (using premium) on my HTC one m8 (Android 5). While I am able to detect and play music to my wondows 7 laptop, it does not list my Denon Ceol N9 network player, and I am unable to stream music to my stereo using spotify connect. I have followed the (very short) instructions listed here: http://manuals.denon.com/RCDN9/EU/EN/ZHOBSYxvrwcwjl.php on how to use Spotify Connect on my Denon, but unsuccessfully so far. The units are all connected to the same wifi, but the Denon Ceol N9 is not lised in the spotify app. Any tips on what I am doing wrong? Some settings I need to enable to make this work? Help would be much appreciated :)  - Petter

My Spotify connect (new versions) does not detect my Denon Ceol Piccolo, My Coel Piccolo is connected to internet wifi or even ethernet cable but non of them results of my Spotify (in other device as iphone or desktop computer) detects My Denon Ceol Piccolo. I also tested to unplug but nothing changes, understand there is problem with connect?, I remember a couple of months ago I could connect as it was detected by iphone (never by my desktop computer

  • Macbook Pro with Denon AVR-X3000 / sound problem

    Hi there..
I have a retina macbook pro and I am trying to connect it to Denon AVR X3000 surround receiver via. HDMI
Denon is connected to the TV from HDMI out, so I have no problem with sending the video to the LCD via. receiver.
My problem is with the sound modes.
Normally, as the most basic example, when I connect my Apple TV to Denon and LCD with the same HDMI way, I get all the digital sound modes such as Dolby Prologic II, Dolby True HD, DTS: Neo6 etc..etc... And I get a very quality sound, with all the channels seperated etc.
But when I connect my Macbook Pro to the system with the same way, what I can only get from the receiver are : STEREO, MULTI CHANNEL IN, MULTI CHANNEL STEREO and VIRTUAL.. I do not see any DTS, Dolby Digital, etc.
Also, I can only get the "surround effect" from "MULTI CHANNEL IN" sound mode, but this time the audio quality is really bad...
Tiny Apple TV gives me great sound but MB Pro cannot..
I have tried to change some settings from the AUDIO MIDI setup, I chose 5.1 multi channel but nothing  happens from here...
By the way, I am using Mac BluRay player and I am running bluray films from my computer.
In my opinion, MBP cannot send high definition video and dolby-dts-prologic sound to the receiver at the same time..
I don't have quite experience about this issue, maybe it is something, very simple. But I couldn't manage it.
Maybe MBP is not capable of doing this... If so, I will be really disappointed because I was looking forward to purchase a Mac Mini and use it as a HTPC..
All suggestions, recommendations are highly appreciated... THX

Hi, i don't have a solution but i can share my experience with you which is similar. Mac Mini connected to Denon. On Mavericks  OS btw.
    two things.
    1. i was fiddling with the System preferences at one time, under Sound, playing around with the output options, honestly forgotten what i did but i managed to get into all the options as per normal, such as Dolby Cinema. Problem is, once i restarted the Mini, the same problem occured. Only those as u mentioned, Multi IN etc.
at this point, i am still trying to figure out.
    2. I tried switching to windows, and the problem disappear. Meaning, the sound mode options are as per usual.
u have any luck yet ?

  • Strange problem with mac mini hdmi, denon avr 3310 and itunes

    Hello,
I just bought the new mac mini with HDMI. It is connected via HDMI to my receiver Denon AVR 3310. The receiver shows that it has "multi channel in" on the display.
I made all the configurations so that i can watch dvd an the mac mini. When i play a movie with Dolby Digital the receiver does show that on the display and playback is possible without any problems. I hear sound on all my 5.1 speakers.
The big problem is with iTunes. When I want to watch rented series, for example Dr. House, only 2 speakers of my 5.1 are used. And when I change to surround in iTunes I can only hear static noise.
What is the problem? Did I make a wrong configuration or is something wrong with iTunes?
    Thanks in advance

Great news! My Mac mini is sending true 5.1 to my reciever through the HDMI cable! Okay so here's my list of gear.
    MAC MINI 2011 2.5 i5 8gb ram
Using a quality audioquest hdmi I have connected my Mac mini to my Denon 1712 Reciever. I have connected this hdmi cable into hdmi port entitled game 2. I have connect my reciever to my tv with a monster 1000 hdx thx certified hdmi cable. It has a transmission sped of 17 gb or so...meaning it can handle transmitting 3d...if only I had a 3d tv.
Okay so that's the gear. Now onto the changes in audio midi. Open audio midi and Simply change it to 48000 hz and to 2 channel 16 bit integer. That's all I did and now it works. Before I had it set to 8 channel 24 bit and when I pulled up my surround sound options I could pretty much only get multi channel stereo. Now I can get several Dolby choices.
The voices are coming out of the center speaker and all the action is coming out of the other speakers....so in other words 5.1 surround sound has been achieved on my Mac mini 2011 which has Lion on it.
I have tested this with iTunes and Netflix. Both are in 5.1 and sound great. In iTunes I have tested both music and digital copies of movies. Both worked flawlessly.
Rejoice Mac mini owners 5.1 surround is now possible over your Mac mini 2011 edition with just an hdmi cable to your reciever. You can throw away that toslink cable becuase now you don't need it!
I hope this works for you. Remember not all hdmi cables and the same holds true for your reciever. If it does not work consider getting either audioquest or monster....everything else is junk.

  • Denon AVR 1709

I cannot get Apple TV to work through my Denon AVR. Is this a common problem as I have now heard that there maybe compatibility issues.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Connect the Apple TV to the TV directly temporarily to eliminate any possibility the problem lies with either of these devices.
Check your Denon manual to make sure that any port mapping has been carried out properly.
Try powering up the devices in different orders, the Apple TV may not turn on if it is unable to detect a supported TV.
If necessary you will have to connect the Apple TV and TV directly and connect the receiver to the Apple TV by optical cable for audio.

  • Atv and denon 3806 Denon avr

Can anyone tell me how I connect the atv to my denon 3806 avr with an hdmi cable. There are 3 hdmi outlets on my receiver but I can't get it all to work. The atv works connected directly to my sony lcd tv, but the sound is through the tv and not very good. I'd like to listen to my music and watch movies with surround sound.

Thanks. So you have one too (Denon avr). I have fantasies of strangling the tech writer and designer of the remote. I am more than happy not to change anything for a while. Every time I do anything, no matter how simple, I screw it up and spend hours trying to figure out how to get it back again. I will never buy another Denon product. I don't care how many good reviews they get, or how good it sounds when it's finally hooked up, I think they are a bunch of sadists. And the manual is totally useless. And there is no number for tech support that I've ever found. The receiver is a total nightmare, even though it is working fine now. (after 3 days of torture.)

  • ITunes does not see Denon AVR-3311CI

I updated Firmware and added the AirPlay feature to my Denon AVR-3311CI.  Called Denon support.  Denon says that Airplay is loaded.  They verified this by having me go to 'Add New Feature' and if the Airplay option doesn't appear, I was told that means that Airplay is loaded.  When I launch iTunes, iPod Touch, or iPad, the 3311 does not show up as a device nor does the AirPlay icon show up in the bottom right corner of iTunes.  I have File Sharing turned on the Macs.  The Macs can all see each other.  Macs & 3311 are hardwired to same router.  iPad & Touch use Wi-Fi obviously.  Router is a Linksys WRT54G.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Here's a few things you can try:
    - If you haven't tried disabling your anti virus software and turning off the Firewall, do that then restart your PC and  the iPod.
    - Try another cable to make sure it's that that
    - Try connecting to another computer to verify that your computer is not the issue
    - If none of these work then your iPod might need service. Take it to your nearest Apple Store

  • Apple TV to Denon AVR-887

I have a  Denon AVR  887  and I would like to figure out how I can use the ATV.   The Panasonic TV Monitor is a  great distance from the AVR so the Video is from Component  Connections.   Audio is from sperate speakers mounted around the Panasonic TV.  The AVR will not convert the HDMI from the ATV  to the component output.
Is there a conversion cable or box that can take the HDMI from the ATV  to a componet output for the AVR?
Will I also need the Optical digital audio output cable to get the audio into the system?
    Happy New Year.

    Yvonne,
For about $35 bucks you could try this device here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002WBOQPU/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=wwwallab ouc00-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B002WBOQPU
It converts an HDMI to Component so you would plug your AppleTV into this device and then the device into your projection TV
By Apple policy I need to let you know that if you visit that link we might benefit or even profit from it. This is an affordable solution versus buying a new TV and you can enjoy all the cool stuff of Apple TV

  • 54GS ver2 DHCP and static Denon AVR IP

I have a WRT54GS ver2...older model.  Some models have DHCP Reservation that allows the same IP to be reestablished with the connected wireless device.  This model does not have that....wish it did.  I need to get the same IP with my Denon AVR (audo video receiver) each time.
Ok, So my 54GS is setup for DHCP 192.168.1.100 with 7 connections.  Only using 5 of these.
If I set an IP in my Denon AVR with a static IP of 192.168.110 (outside the .100 to .106 range) and the Gateway is the IP of the 54GS, Sub, DNS1, 2 as for my TCP/IP connection....then I should be able to connect to the router and dsl modem......I am unable to get the Denon to connect?
The Denon is connected via a wirless bridge..Buffalo Ethernet Converter that uses DHCP to connect to the 54GS.  Does that mean I can't use a static IP in the Denon that connects hardwire to the Buffalo?
How to get the Denon to see the router?

    The puzzle continues.........
I have the Router Gateway IP set at: 192.168.100.100
The DHCP server in the router is setting: 192.168.100.101-.103
I have the Denon IP set: 192.168.100.121.... will not connect to the Internet...does connect to the network.
I have a DirecTV IP set: 192.168.100.120......connects to the Internet and network.
Why the Denon will not connect to the Internet is the puzzle, especially since the DirecTV is connected via the same bridge and using the same IP setup as the Denon. I tried UPnP on/off...no difference.
The Denon and DirecTV are both connected to a Buffalo Air Station (wireless Ethernet Converter). Same ports, connections as with DHCP in use and working.
The DirecTV IP is set at 192.168.100.120; the Denon 192.168.100.121.
Gateway IP, Subnet Mask, DNS, all set the same in both. All other sources use DHCP in the .101-.103 range.
    DirecTV connects to Internet....Denon NO.
Both work when using DHCP via the router just fine. Just wanted a static non-changing IP in the Denon for use with FW updates/issues.
    Stumped!

  • Uverse input on Denon AVR not providing audio

I have my Uverse DVR connected via HDMI to my Denon AVR-X2200 connected to my TV via HDMI. When switching through several stations quickly on SD channels, I get no sound. This does not occur when going through HD channels.
I have already tried rebooting the box, I have rebooted the box and gateway, I have tried setting the resolution to 720p and I've tried turning off Dolby Digital, none of the above has helped. I know this has to be an issue with the uverse equipment as none of my other inputs are having this problem. The uverse boxes are Cisco boxes, I'm having issues with the main DVR as well as the satellite boxes. I have no intention of using optical and component cables as I'm not paying for the service so that I can view things in a sub-par environment. Component video is awful.
Is there a solution to this problem, or do I have to buy older equipment just to handle Uverse's equipment?

Just because your audio doesn't go over HDMI doesn't mean your picture has to not use HDMI, and it should also be noted that Component may actually give you a better picture than HDMI.
So... why won't you use optical for audio?
Also, since this is SD channels, which are stereo only, you could use the L/R audio cables for that, though switching the amp between the stero inputs vs the HDMI for HD could be problematic.  Optical wouldn't have that issue

  • Spotify Connect & Yamaha Reciever problems - See the device but cannot connect.

I have a Yamaha RX-V577 reciever with Spotify Connect and update to the last firmware.
When I try to connect spotify using the Android APP, I see the device but cannot conect to it.
What are the steps you took to get to the error/issue?
    1. I star a song
    2. Click on the speaker sign with a circle, and click on the receptor (Yahama device).
    3. The grey rounder speaker sign goes from grey to green and the sound waves moves (like tryng to connect).
    4. After a while it goes back to grey.
IMPORTANT I dont know how sometimes it works, dunno how but after trying alot yesterday It worked. But cannot reproduce it.

I have the EXACT same issue BUT on a Sony STR 1050! It worked fine up until lately. Sometimes I get it to work, but mostly not. When it works, it's very unreliable and often not in synch.
It still works absolutely fine with my Computer/Spotify App. I can even tell my PC to use my AVR as sound output and the connect to my PC to listen via my AVR. But connecting directly to my AVR is a PITA. Since more users have the same problem across different AVRs, it seems to be a new Spotify problem and not an issue with my AVR.
When can we expect that this issue is fixed!? I'm using this feature constantly.

  • Turn off Spotify Connect

How do I disable Spotify Connect?
If I've got my tablet (iPad) running the app, I definitely don't want my phone running it and draining the battery with the app running there as well.
    Thanks
    Edit by
I've just added a guide on ways of disabling Spotify Connect. Hopefully there will be a way of enabling/disabling the service at will in the future.
    How to disable Spotify Connect
    MODERATOR EDIT:
Hey everyone, Spotify staff here. Recently we updated the Community Idea "Make Spotify Connect a choice" with the status "Not Right Now".
If you've installed our latest Spotify app for Android (1.8.0) and you're still having trouble with battery drain please let us know right here.
We'd also like to mention these other Connect ideas which are a bit more specific to the Connectrequests you've made in this thread. Please leave your kudos and feedback in those as well if they apply to the reasons you'd like to turn off Spotify Connect.

Hi... I have a problem with this as well - I find it incredibly annoying. For example, I was out picking up a pizza and listening to spotify in my car... When I got home my girlfriend began listening to Spotify on her cell phone - and my cell phone began playing music from it because my device was the last selected. If at all possible, I'd like there to be a feature to turn this option OFF entirely. I can't see it being logical to have this on by default. I enjoyed the option that stopped my device from playing completely when someone else was using the same account from another machine, hopefully you can bring this back because it totally makes more sense than the way it is now.
I don't like the ability with anyone who has access to the account to be able to play music on any device that has the app open as well. This can be quite embarrassing if someone accidentally clicks on your device, say, as you go into a meeting with your phone in your pocket and it begins playing "It's raining men" or something... I hope you can understand my sentiment! Again this can be fixed if you just gave us an option to turn this off entirely for any (or all) device(s).

  • Apple TV 2/ Denon AVR 2311CI zone 2 issues

I have an original Apple TV hooked up to my Denon AVR 2311CI ss receiver. I needed to hook the red and white RCA cables to pass an analog signal to get the audio to pass through to zone 2. The next gen Apple TV has no RCA jacks, just digital optical. That does not pass the audio to zone 2. Has anyone tried this and got zomne 2 audio to work with the newer Apple TVs??

I am also having this issue (picture - but no sound) - but with an Onkyo AV Receiver (TX-SR674).  And unfortunately, my TV doesn't have HDMI - just DVI - so I can't pass the AppleTV through my TV to get the audio to the AV receiver - or even get the audio from the TV's speakers.  So unless I can firgure this out, I either have to return the Apple TV, or buy a new TV and/or receiver.  As much fun as that sounds, I don't really have the spare coin to make it happen.  I've tried every possible setting on the Onkyo (which I use with a DirecTV receiver and a Sony Blu-ray player just fine - using HDMI) - but no luck.  The only way I've seen it work is using my Dell computer Monitor (which has HDMI in and analog audio out).  So it doesn't appear to be a defective Apple TV.  Oh - and I can't get any digital audio out of the Apple TV either. I tried two different AV receivers that have optical tos-link inputs.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Cheers (and Happy New Year).

  • HT-ST9 Spotify Connect Issue

Just purchased the HT-ST9. It's absolutely awesome! However I'm having issues playing Spotify with Spotify Connect.
The speaker connects to my wifi no problem and has updated to the latest firmware, but when listening to Spotify from any device - iPhone 6, iPhone 5, iPad, MacBook - it will stop playing after about 1 minute and jump back to the home screen. This only happens when using Spotify Connect. Bluetooth has no issues, but the sound quality is nowhere near as good as using Connect so I want to get this fixed.
    Any help very much appreciated!

    Hi tn5280,
Please try to clear all memorized settings and restore the receiver to the factory default settings by the following procedure. Be sure to use the buttons on the receiver to perform this operation.33
    1. Turn off the receiver.
    2. Hold down (on/standby) on the receiver for 5 seconds. [CLEARING] appears on the display panel for a while, then changes to [CLEARED!] .
    Note:
It takes a few minutes for the memory to be cleared completely. Do not turn the receiver off until [CLEARED!] appears on the display panel.
Let us know if you're getting the same result.
    Thanks,
    >Joffrey
