Dension Ice Link Car Stereo Adapter

My iPod is hard wired into my VW Golf with a Dension Ice Link thingy and it works perfectly, but I now need it to work in a Vauxhall Astra.
There appears to be different Ice Link adapters for different makes of car.
Does anyone know if the difference is just the connector or something more complicated?
I was hoping I could just change the connector, download the software and it would work.
Any advice or comments gratefully received!
Many thanks

  • CREATIVE EQUIVALENT TO THE DENSION ICE LINK PL

Anybody know if there is a Creative equivalent of the Dension ICE>Link Plus? This is the device you use to connect your i-Pod to a car stereo...Very neat and tidy..c. 00 but can only be use with the little white devils!
    Come on Creative..What about it's
    :smileytongue:

There are 3 ways to connect your device to your car stereo. The first is via an line-in jack on your receiver (if you have one). In this case, a /8" miniplug patch cable is all that is needed. Second is a casette adapter (if you have a casette player). Third is an FM transmitter. This guy plugs into the headphone jack and then broadcasts the music on a selected FM frequency. You then tune your radio to the matching frequency. Hope that info is useful!

  • Dension Ice Link in New SEAT Leon

Having problems with my Dension Link and my Leon.
    1) I find that the car display often resets back to Track 99 and will keep playing songs for a little while and then eventually resets the iPod. Meanwhile while the songs still play, the song display on the iPod is where it reset to 99.
    2) The display of the iPod is like that of an Amstrad corca 1983, big blocky letters. Not a thing like the iPod display which is advertised on the Dension.
Not sure if SEAT have installed it wrong but anyone got any suggestions? Is there anything I can do or is anyone having same problem?

I have the same problem with Dension ice>Link plus and ipod color 20GB in my Audi A4 (Audi Concert head unit).
The ice>Link goes to AUX mode (i.e., displays Track 99 and counter circulates from 00 to 09), ipod controls do not function (as they should I pressume, since I am using the Dension UI interface which disables the ipod controls) and needs to be reset to get back the control, or wait a few minutes until ipod resets on it own.
The second you mention is nominal.
Have you managed to talk to Dension about it? I've sent them an email but I got no answer back!

  • What is the best but least expensive iphone car stereo adapter?

I want to listen to my Itunes music in my car (2004 Maxima and a 2003 Suburban).... what is a good car stereo adapter?

It's going to vary depending on a number of factors. The best sound quality (without replacing the head unit) is going to come with an RF modulator that connects in-line with the antenna input on the unit itself. These can be almost as expensive as just replacing the head unit with one that supports bluetooth streaming or at least has an aux connection. Neither of these solutions is portable between vehicles and requires that you either be adept enough to install them yourself or pay someone to install them.
RF transmitters that connect directly to the phone can be OK if you are in an area that has relatively open FM frequency availability, but you'll have to fiddle with it and change the frequency as you drive around. These have the benefit of being portable between vehicles and relatively inexpensive ($50-$100).
If you have a cassette player in the car, you can get a cassette tape adapter for about $10 at Radio Shack.
If it were me, and I intended to hang onto the car for any length of time, I'd go to www.crutchfield.com and find a new head unit for each car that supports bluetooth audio streaming. As a bonus, you'll end up with hands free bluetooth calling as well with most units.  This will run you probably somewhere between $120 and $350 per car assuming you can install it yourself.

  • IPod nano And Dension Ice Link Plus: no audio :(

    Hi guys,
I've a very strange problem with my iPod Nano 4GB.
I've just installed the Ice Link Plus interface in my car and it seems working great (total control from OEM radio, carghe it, change the tracks from radio controls, ID3 on the screen, etc.) BUT...I'm not able to hear any music!!
yeah...the nano is totally mute :O
I've seen many post about this issue (with docking units, etc), but I've to say that:
    - it worked perfectly with Pioneer CD-IB100 interface
    - it works perfectly with my JBL On Stage
So, as suggested in Dension Knowledge-base, I've unplugged the ipod from dock connector, done a soft reset (MENU + Select) and reconnected it...but nothing. It doesn't play :'(
Then I've tried to plug the headphones, unplug them and then connect the dock...but nothing, it doens't play.
Saying that I'm going to try another iPod on that Dension to be sure tha the problem is in the iPod, do you have some suggestions?
    Thx,
    francesco

Try a reset of the Nano and if that fails try a restore from the iPod updater. There has been several posts related to lack of audio output on the Nano inconjuction with various accessories where a Reset or Restore corrected the problem.
To reset Nano, press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears. You should have to hold the buttons down for about 6 to 10 seconds.
To restore your Nano, download the latest iPod updater and install the application. Run the updater with your iPod connected and select restore. The updated can be download from --> http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/

  • IPhone use with Dension ICE Link WARNING!!!

    Hi.
I have an email from Dension support, as I enquired if/when they would have support for the iPhone.
    They returned this email:

  • Car stereo adapter from one generation to another (or two!)

Someone please help! I have an integrated car stereo connector (that might be 1g or 3g!!!) and when I plug in my 2g iPod touch or iPhone 4S neither are recognised by it!! Does anyone know what adapter I'd need please? If I can't find one that can be used for both the iPod and iPhone I'd rather be able to connect just the iPod touch to it. Is there, for example, a univeral one anyone knows of, or one that has many different heads to it so I can chop and change?

    Natively in Premiere, no.
There are some commercial plugins that can match the coloring of two clips (such as RE:Match), or you could try the Shot Matching tool in Speedgrade CC (use it to create a .look file that defines the color shifts, then apply that to your footage in Premiere Pro CC using the Lumetri effect).

  • Car Stereo adapt

Is there a plan to make a connection adapter like the IPOD to have your radio's cd changer control the Zen Photo This is a huge buying point for me. Maybe even a cable that powers and controls or something. I have tried a fm modulator with my muvo (not enough room) the sound is horrible even for audio books. I'll be buying in a few weeks.

If your car still has a cassette deck, you can use one of those adaptors and connect it to the headphone output. You lose some quality, but it probably won't make much difference unless you are listening to .wav files. The mp3's are already lossy, so what's the difference.

  • Car Stereo adapter no longer works properly after 3.1.3

I just upgraded my 3G to 3.1.3 today and now it no longer works as it did with all previous software revs with the USA Spec adapter for my factory Toyota in-dash.
Searching turned up nothing. Has anyone else had compatibility problems after upgrading to 3.1.3? I hate to go the downgrade route, but taking the chance on having to replace my mobile phone is preferable to replacing my in-dash with some neon-glowy aftermarket POS.

I have the USA Spec PA15-TOY in my 2001 Tacoma. The 3.1.3 update hasn't posed any issues for me and I use it every day.
You may want to check with USA Spec to see if there is a software update on it. When I bought my iphone, I found it didn't charge my iphone or work correctly as it had with my previous ipods. I sent it to them and they updated the software and I had to buy a new cable to accommodate charging. Total with the cable, it cost me $50, but it was money well spent. Maybe you just need a software update?
The folks at USA Spec were great to deal with and from the time I sent it out to the time I got it back was about 5 days.

  • Dension Ice Kit for car

I have a 5th generation Ipod video 30G. I am interested in the after fitting kit for my BMW X5 which does not have Sat Nav. This will be a Dension ice link plus. The instalation will involve taking out the CD changer in the boot and with a connector for the Ipod in the glove box. This is a lenthy job and will cost around +£300 including parts. The guys in the Aple store at Bluewater say this is a compatible kit for Ipods and BMW's and I will have no problems. However as this is such early days for this type of equipment I can not find anyone to talk to who has actually had it installed in any car let alone a BMW. I am interested in playing music and Podcasts in the car but am not sure how my standard radio screen will look like and how I will switch between the two.
Is there anyone out there who has some experience about this.
    Thanks

My wife has a 3 year old 318ti &a 2nd generation iPod Mini. she recently had the car fitted with the genuine BMW iPod adaptor. It works fine 7 she has control over the 5 playlists, skip, repeat etc from the steering wheel buttons and radio contrls
I updated my antique 1st gen iPod to a new 5gen 60Gb video model and her can won't recognise it at all
So i wouldn't go ahead yet
Can anyone shed any light on this problem?

  • Ipod Nano and Dension/Blaupunkt ICE links

    Hi,
I have been attempting to connect my Ipod Nano to the
audio system in my car using both the Dension ICE Link Plus and the Blaupunkt Ipod Interface Cable. Both give control of the Nano from the head unit CD changer controls, but neither gives any audio. Both work perfectly with my wifes Ipod Mini, with full audio, so I'm wondering if there is a compatibility issue with the Nano, or I there is just a problem with my specific one.
Dension claim compatibility for their ICE Link Plus, but Blaupunkt don't for their cable. As the Nano has the standard dock connecter I just expected to plug in and go.
Anyone tried either of these with the Nano and had success?
Any suggestions as to whether its likely to be a problem with my Nano, and what I should do if it is?
    Cheers
    Will.

  • Alpine Car Stereo

Does anyone know if the iPhone works with the Alpine car stereo adapter?
I would test it myself, but I don't want it to screw with anything.
    Thanks!

I have the Alpine IVA-W200. Here's what I have experienced so far:
    1. The iPhone will work with the iPod adapter.
    2. Create Music Playlists first before using the iPhone if you have Video on your iPhone - Very important!
    3. After you connect your iPhone, it will bring up a dialog box about switching to Airplane Mode - Select 'No', otherwise your phone features will be turned off.
    4. Switch your Alpine Deck to iPod mode (music may play right away), however, you will want to select a Playlist (If you just let the iPhone shuffle through songs it will also try to play Videos as songs and this will give you a message on the Alpine deck Error 01 and shut down)
    5. If you get the Error 01 message, you will need to disconnect your iPhone, go to the iPod mode on your iPhone and select a song before reconnecting. If you disconnect and reconnect it will remember what was last played and go right back to the Video and give you the Error 01 message again.
    6. All my Playlist, Artist, Song and shuffle features worked on my deck (Again be careful to remember that your Video tracks will show up as Artist and/or Song tracks, so don't select them by mistake. ie Foo Fighters Video will look the same as a Foo Fighters song)
    7. The iPod adapter will charge the iPhone (Save you from having to get a cig lighter adapter).
If you have a Bluetooth enabled Deck:
If the iPhone is or is not connected to the Alpine iPod adapter and you have Bluetooth turned on your iPhone, it will turn off the music and allow you to answer the phone call, speak through the Alpine mic and listen through your car speakers.
For those with a Bluetooth earpiece but no Bluetooth Deck:
When I have my Bluetooth earpiece connected to my iPhone with my iPhone connected to my Alpine iPod adapter. If I get a phone call, the iPhone will stop the music, I can answer or ignore the call. If I answer the call, when the call is complete, the music will start right up where it left off. If I ignore the call, again the music will start up where it left off.
So for those of you that do not wish to spring for the $120 Alpine Bluetooth adapter + installation, you can still get the convenience of the music shutting down when the iPhone rings and starting up after the call is complete, if you use a Bluetooth earpiece.

  • Ice-Link Plus and iPod Nano 3G

    Hi,
I've been using an Dension Ice-Link plus and iPod Nano 1G in my Alfa GT for two years without any problem. Now I'm thinking in buying a new Nano 3G but I don't know the Ice-Link is fully compatible with the new Nano 3G.
The Dension Support hasn't answer yet to this question.
I suppose it will be as the base connector haven't changed but I'd like to know if someone in this forum could confirm it or not.
    Thanks,

I use the Ice Link Plus in my BMW, and I can confirm that the Nano 3G indeed works with my system. Ought to work with yours aswell.
Must say that I'm a bit disappointed on Dension aswell... they could have done this test and written some info on their site. Buying the Nano 3G was a bit of a gamble for me =)

It really depends if that is a recent statement from the manufacturer.
It could well have been true when the HiFi was released.
You need to contact them and ask if the iPod touch 2G is supported, have a look on thier website they may have more up to date information.
