Deploy adobe FlashPlayer without Checking for Updates

Windows 7 Enterprise SP1
Adobe Flash Player 14 ActiveX 14.0.0.176
Internet Explorer 10.0.9200.17089
Hi there
Since some days, the user get the Update popup from Adobe for installing the new Flash Player.
In the .cft file:
AutoUpdateDisable=1
SilentAutoUpdateEnable=0
In the Flash Settings "never check for updates" marked (only changeable for Administrators)
My question: how to disable ALL Update Pop-up's? Until now we never had this problem, since we updated to this version 14.0.0.176 and IE10 (together) this problem occurs on every machine (about 4300).
Thanks for any answers, that resolves my problem.

Hello,
We are aware of this issue and are working on a fix.  At this time we do not have a release for when this might be available.  A workaround for 64-bit operating systems is to also save the mms.cfg file to \Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash (in addition to \Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash).

  • Check for Updates and User Account Control

    With Adobe Reader the 'Check for Updates' function under Help does not appear to function when 'User Account Control (UAC)' in Windows Vista is turned on.
    When UAC is turned off, the 'Check for Updates' works, and if there an update is available for Adobe Reader, it will download and install.
    Other programs that update software funtion with UAC turned on, albeit with the additional dialog boxes that UAC brings, namely the CTL/ALT/DEL and user account logon (when applicable.)
    Without updating the Adobe Reader software, users are leaving themeselves open to vulnerabilities.  Without UAC turned on, users are also leaving themselves open to certain risks.  So there appears to be a dilemma presented.
    Does anyone know if/when Adobe will be changing the 'Check for Updates' functionality so it will behave more in-line with the UAC functionality?
    Thank you in advance for your time and attention.

    With UAC enabled, I start Adobe Reader, click on Help, and there is no selection for updating.  There is nothing for me to click.  Additionally, in Edit, Preferences, Updater, "Do not download or install updates automatically" is selected, and everything on the right pane is greyed-out.
    With UAC disabled, I start Adobe Reader, click on Help, and there is a selection for 'Check for Updates.'  In Edit, Preferences, Updater, I can select the various methods of downloading/updating Adobe Reader.  The option to download the update but not install was selected, as I wanted it to be.
    Finally, I noticed that the notice from Adobe, 'Update is ready to install,' appears in the Windows tray.  And it is this point that somewhat changes the serverity of the problem, that is, while 'Check for Updates' is not available when UAC is enabled, it appears that Adobe can still be updated through the automatic download feature.  The only problem with this is that I cannot tell if the update was downloaded while UAC was enabled (probably not since the download setting says not to) or while UAC was disabled.
    In any case, it still does not appear that our clients can get their Adobe Reader software updated while UAC is enabled.  And this represents a security dilemma for us.

  • ClickOnce Programmatic deployment checks for updates if there is a failure in the middle of an update

    Hi,
    I am using ClickOnce deployment APIs in C#.
    The application is checked not to "Check for updates". Unfortunately, due to some slow internet connectivity issues the deployments sometimes fail.
    When such a scenarios happens, the next time the application is restarted it will prompt the "There was an update" dialog even though the Project ClickOnce settings are set not to check for updates.
    I couldn't find any solutions or documentation. Any help would be appreciated!
    This is my code:
    if (IsUpdated())
    nextProgress = 0;
    logger.Info("Found new version! UPDATING...");
    applicationDeployment.UpdateAsync();
    // We use this instead of applicationDeployment.CheckForUpdate(false) because applicationDeployment.CheckForUpdate(false)
    // Is limited to a few hundred calls only (Microsoft BUG: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winformssetup/thread/d9183f7e-f5c7-46d0-8bb4-411ad923976c)
    int checkUpdateError = 0;
    private DateTime _lastCheck = DateTime.MinValue;
    public bool IsUpdated()
    try
    var customVersionUrl = System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["CustomVersionUrl"];
    var manifestFile = GetIfModifiedtSince(customVersionUrl != null ? customVersionUrl : TBXConfigurationManager.Settings["VersionURL"], _lastCheck);
    if (manifestFile != string.Empty)
    var xdoc = XDocument.Parse(manifestFile);
    XNamespace nsSys = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1";
    var version = new Version(xdoc.Descendants(nsSys + "assemblyIdentity").First().Attribute("version").Value);
    _lastCheck = DateTime.Now.AddMinutes(-10);
    if (version != ApplicationDeployment.CurrentDeployment.CurrentVersion)
    // update application
    return true;
    checkUpdateError = 0;

    Hi uriab,
    As you said that, you have something wrong when you update the Version of application. Due to the network, I'm afraid you have missing something important for the updation version.
    I suggest you uninstall the older version, then reinstall the lastest version from the server.
    And also here is a MSDN article about How to Check for Application Updates Programmatically Using the ClickOnce Deployment API.

    Moved to Acrobat Installation & Update Issues
    Try to download the updates manually from the Adobe website. I believe you need something like Acrobat 9.2.x for full Windows 7 compatibility.

  • Each time I open acrobat I get a message asking if I want to check for updates which goes to an error page on adobe

    How do I check for updates, this always goes to an adobe web page that says "Error".

    Hi charlesl64851396,
    I am sorry for the inconvenience caused.
    I would require few details from you in order to diagnose this issue correctly :-
    1) Version of Acrobat currently installed on your computer.
    2) Was it a standard or custom installation?
    3) Operating system installed on your computer.
    4) Default browser.
    5) And, also share the screenshot of the Error page.
    Regards,
    Aadesh

    Does Anyone Knows How To Disable The "Check For Updates" Option in Adobe Edge Code and Reflow?

    I don't think there is a way for Edge Code. I'm not sure about Reflow.
    Why don't you just upgrade? That will stop the notifications.

  • Help!! Auto-Deploy and Check For Updates in an OPMN-managed instance

    I'm trying to use the auto-deploy and check for updates functions in an OAS 10.1.0.3 but I can not make it work.
    I don't Know if this functions are only availables for a standalone OC4J instance.
    Can anyone help me??
    Thanks!!! and sorry for my poor english.

    Auto-Deploy is not really designed for an OPMN managed instance -- in earlier releases, this would not even work correctly since deployments where stored in the DCM subsystem and any subsequent configuration changes made via DCM would overwrite the config and you'd lose the "auto-deployed" application.
    In 10.1.3.x where DCM is no longer in the picture, and the auto-deploy polling is a function of Oc4J itself, it may work. Be aware that this is not something that is tested in OPMN managed environments.
    What configuration changes have you made?
    You need to ensure you have modified server.xml so the attribute check-for-updates="all" and you've added the attribute application-auto-deploy-directory and have it pointing at a directory to watch.

  • Adobe Reader(Check for update) Mac OS X

    Hi,
    I would like to know if it is possible that i can check for updates using and command line or script.?
    Regards,

  • Adobe Application Updates, CC says no. Go to Bridge and check for updates, 2 updates available.

    So this morning on all our systems, Adobe Application Update notifies us of 2 updates, but when I open CC it shows nothing. So I open Bridge and say check for updates and sure enough there are photoshop updates available for download. Is this normal? Or is the CC application not working for some reason?

    TDRonline, Looks like CC desktop app was not able to detect the update for some reason. Might be some temporary issue.
    Would suggest you to sign out and sign in back and then check.

  • Disable\Remove "Check for Update" "Lightroom online" and "Adobe Product Improvement Program"

    Hi,
    I wanted to confirm if it is possible to remove\Disbale the options like  "Check for Update" "Lightroom online" and "Adobe Product Improvement Program"
    under help menu in adobe lightroom 5.3? I intend to deply this application and want these options to be unavailable for the User.
    Kindly suggest, Thanks.

    So far as I know, the only way to make these features non-functioning is to detach the computer from the internet.

  • How do I setup Adobe to check for updates automatically?

    How do I setup Adobe to check for updates automatically and send me a reminder an update is available? Right now I get an annoying message everday that Adobe hasn't been checked for updates recently. But I have ...

    Edit > Preferences > Updater (Win); Acrobat > Preferences > Updater
    This is where you adjust your update preferences for Acrobat.

  • I cannot update iTunes. In instructions for updating it says to go to help and then click check for updates. Guess what! No help options within iTunes. I need to be able to syn my iPod touch 5 but I cant without the newest iTunes. I am sick of this crap.

    I am EXTREMELY tired of having to deal with this. iTunes has been an issue since I got it and unfortunately whenever I want to update my computer's iTunes account it demands I download a new format (which has continually gotten worse and WORSE over time). I wish things would not be updated so frequently. As soon as I have the new format working decently (ONLY decently, I have never had an apple product that has worked as it is stated it should) another update comes along. And THIS time, I cannot download it. First problem: I open iTunes. It says I need to update for my ipod to work. I think "great. I click ok and it will do it automatically!" Oh boy was I wrong. I don't do anything. I search up how to update things. It says ON THIS SITE: Go to help in the itunes store. THERE. IS. NO. CLEARLY. VISIBLE. HELP. SECTION. I have looked for FAR to long for this to be worth my time.

    Okay - let's cut to the chase...
    If the Menu Bar (File, Edit... Help) shown in my screenshot below is not visible, use CTRL+B to display it. Then click on Help/Check for Updates. If one is available, you will be able to select it at this time.
    Note the item at the bottom of the list; About iTunes. Selecting that will show you which version of iTunes you are using.
    An alternative method to display the Menu Bar is click on the box in the top left of your iTunes window...

  • Can't find "Check for updates" option in Help menu

    Hello
    I am planning to update several adobe reader installations over a windows domain. First of all, I tried to do it in one particular machine without administrative privileges (not being Local Administrator).
    I am surprised of not finding the "Check for updates" option. What is more, there is no topic in the forums about this issue (?).
    Please, could anyone tell me what am I missing?
    Thanks in advance.

    Yes I'm afraid that update must be run with administrative privileges... But there must be another way of updating a product across a network of 400+ clients without login in all of them ...
    I'm trying with adobeupdatechecker, to see if it is possible some kind of automation.
