Deploy applications/app-v packges: uninstall when not member of group/collection?

Hi,
Howto make sure an application/app-v package gets uninstalled when a user isn't member of the target group/pc isn't member of the targetted collection?
J.
Jan Hoedt

Let's say you create these two collections with the deployments as described:
Resource ... MyComputer1
Collection ... 7-Zip Install Collection
Deployment ... Action: Install
Application ... 7-Zip
Resource ... MyComputer1
Collection ... 7-Zip Uninstall Collection
Deployment ... Action: Uninstall
Application ... 7-Zip
Since MyComputer1 has both an Install and an Uninstall deployment, the Application will get Installed (uninstall deployments lose if there are both).  However, if you were to remove MyComputer from the 7-Zip Install Collection, there would only be an
Uninstall deployment left.
While you would never want to micromanage 7-Zip this much, technically it would achieve what you are looking for with an application that needed this level of management.

  • CC desktop lists applications as "Up to Date" when not installed

Operating  Windows 7, 64 bit. I found the recommended fixes at: CC desktop lists applications as "Up to Date" when not installed.
    They were close. I found that steps 1-3 did not work initially. But before running the cleaner;
    1. I uninstalled CC desktop.
    2.  I did a registry clean with CCleaner
    3.  then ran the CC desktop cleaner
    4.  then went back in to the Windows control panel to remove installed programs where I found an icon for Acrobat XI that was the uninstalled program and uninstalled that. Although the
icon was not the standard icon but a generic one, I still needed to remove it.
    5. Installed the CC desktop.
    That worked.
    Good luck!

This doesn't work in my case with Windows 8.1

Can't load App Store on my macBook Pro.  Error is; You cannont open the application "App Store" because it is not supported on this system.  How can I upgrade App Store or download new version?

Problem now resolved as I upgraded to Snow Leopard 10.6.  Seems App Store doesn't like anything previous to 10.6.

How do I add an offline translation to the Bible app to use it when not connected to a network?

You will need to contact the developer of the app and ask if that is possible. If not, you'll need to look for another app that doesn't require a network connection to function.

  • You cannot open the application app store because it is not supported on this architecture

My Apple store app will not open, and it gives me this error. What can I do?
"you cannot open the application app store because it is not supported on this architecture"

The Mac App Store application is damaged. Open  > About this Mac, and check which Mac OS X version you have.
If you have got 10.7 or newer, hold Command and R keys while your Mac is starting and reinstall OS X. Another option is to download the OS X installer from the Mac App Store and use Pacifist to install Mac App Store.
If you have got 10.6, first try reinstalling OS X 10.6.8 > http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US If it doesn't work, insert the Snow Leopard DVD, hold the C key while your Mac is starting up and reinstall Mac OS X. Then, use the link above to download Mac OS X 10.6.8 from the Apple site

Can I remotely remove Apps from my iphone when not connected to iTunes. I have my apple ID and password. but my iphone is not in same wifi range

Sorry, not sure what you mean by remotely?
You can remove apps from your phone without being connected to anything if you have the phone in hand. Were you speaking about something else?
If not, then you just press on an app on the Home screen and hold it down until they all begin to wiggle. Apps that you can remove (non-Apple apps) have a little "x" in the top left-hand corner. Tap on that, and the app will be removed.
    Cheers,

  • Leaving applications open when not in use

This may be the world's dumbest computer question but what effect does it have on the OS to leave applications open on the dock when not in use? Any? Apps such as, e.g., Office 2008? Does it slow the OS to have apps open when not in use? Or perhaps no effect unless using them? Does it matter if Safari is left open after logging off a secure site?
I've been compulsive about closing what's not in use but I just installed Office 2008 and Word and Excel, for example, are slow to open so I'd like to just always leave them open on the dock.
Sorry if this is just too dumb. I searched but didn't find anyone else who had asked. Maybe everyone else knows.

my app store will not open. when i try to open it i get an error that reads "You can't open the application App Store because it may be damaged or incomplete". How can I fix this?

I am having the exact same problem.  MacForums has been helping me, and I called Apple.  After trying everyone's suggestions, and Apple's, no success.
My App Store app still says "incomplete or damaged."  There is even a circle with a line through it on the icon.  Apple said reinstall my Snow Leopard upgrade disc (not my original Leopard disc) and then run the Combo Update (like your suggestion).  Did not work.  I also updated the software from "Software Update".  Rebooted.
I think this started after I replaced my hard drive with a SSD and moved the hard drive to where the DVD was.  I wonder if the person above who had the same problem also installed a SSD?
Anyway, anymore ideas?  Even Apple is stumped.
(In answer to the other post above, my Quicktime works fine.)
