Deploy error -40 and HS-DIO 181 update

(To who it may concern)
After the update of HS-DIO 181 (runs via NI Update Service) we was unable (on all company machine and OS XP/Vista/7) to performs deployment (using deployment utility but I guess that this problem can occur also on the other deployment utility LV & CVI) using previously made deployment configuration that operate correctly (installers were created correctly).
This is the message coming out from utility:
*** Error: Internal error. (Error code -40)
*** Error Details:
Error in MDF API function: _MDFDistCopyList_GetCount
Volume number 3 is too high. The number of volumes is 1.
*** End Error Report

The installer is finished
Looking into Detailed_Installer.log' we found (last rows before error):

Getting disk information for NI Measurement Studio Visual C++ Common Libraries for the MFC 8.0      Product path: Products\NIVcppCommon2005\      Product is on disk with id '{14508501-4F37-4E2F-9ACD-30E0408D8DF2}', volume 3
Locking into registry we found this info regarding the package code reported form log:
NI-HSDIO 1.8.1 1.81.49153
Package GUID: {14508501-4F37-4E2F-9ACD-30E0408D8DF2}
Distribution GUID: {A3CDDB38-1FC4-4506-A416-5BDE88B1E748}
With a deep loock into the installer files we found that the HS-DIO update is constituted by 3 volumes but with a more advanced analysis of related registry keys we found that in effect into the registry there is reported just 1 volume and not the effective 3.
So it is necessary to patch into registry in order to ad the other 2 subkey related to the missing volumes.
Unfortunately some keys varies form machine to machine and it is not possible to publish a path.
I report here the "example" of registry modification to add wher the <ID key>s are masked:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\National Instruments\Common\Installer\Suites\<ID key1>\Distributions\<ID key2>\DistVolume2] "DistVolume"=dword:00000002
"SuiteVolume"=dword:00000001
"RelPath"="C:\\ProgramData\\National Instruments\\Update Service\\Installers\\NI-HSDIO 1.8.1 1.81.49153\\NIHSDIO1812\\"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\National Instruments\Common\Installer\Suites\<ID key1>\Distributions\<ID key2>\DistVolume3] "DistVolume"=dword:00000003
"SuiteVolume"=dword:00000001
"RelPath"="C:\\ProgramData\\National Instruments\\Update Service\\Installers\\NI-HSDIO 1.8.1 1.81.49153\\NIHSDIO1813\\"
Clearly after this modification the deployment runs well and the installer was created.
Probably the error was due to an incorrect information registered by the HS-DIO update during its installation.

Hi Swnopunter,
the driver was downloaded by NI Update Service and reinstalling them from the folder doesn't solve the problem, furthermore this happened in several different PC with different OS.

    Try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good. Also, confirm your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers. If you still see the alert when you update or restore, contact Apple support.

  • Errors 1602 and 1604 trying to update from 1.1.4 to 2.0!!!

    Hi all.
    So I have two iPod Touch devices in my home. I purchased and downloaded the 2.0 update this morning. It got halfway through the update and then died, leaving the iPod in recovery mode where the display shows the sync cable and the iTunes icon. At first it gave me the 1602 error, and every time I tried to Restore it, iTunes would think about it for several minutes and eventually give me a 1604 error.
    After two hours on the phone with Apple support, I got it to work by plugging the iPod into a different USB port on my computer.
    Updating the second iPod had similar difficulties, except I couldn't fix it by switching USB ports. Another call to Apple, and again no real solution. They had me go to another PC and try restoring and iTunes then downloaded the 1.1.4 firmware and installed it, although my iPod was now wiped.
    I tried the 2.0 update on the new computer and now I'm right back to the 1604 error.
    What the heck is going on?!? Two different computers and I can't update this thing.
    It is NOT jailbroken or in any way modded - it was purchased brand new from Best Buy and has been treated like a baby its entire life.
    I am desperate, frustrated, and exasperated.
    Anyone, please, pretty please, oh please . . . can you help me?
    Paul

    Hello all, I have the same problem. It is very frustrating. I have a single iPod Touch and two USB ports. The following steps have been taken, starting with my OOTB 1.1.4 iPod Touch running Windows XP:
    1. Upgrade iTunes to 7.7, purchase version 2.0 of software for $10 and attempt to install via iTunes - failed with Error 1602
    2. Exited recovery mode (this process has to be completed after each failed attempt as otherwise I am stuck with the USB cable / connect to iTunes image on the Touch's screen), attempted to perform restore via iTunes, selecting 2.0 software as source - failed
    3. Kicked out of recovery mode, attempted restore, selecting 1.1.4 software as source - failed
    4. Uninstalled iTunes / Quicktime / Apple Mobile Device Support / Apple Software Updater as per WinXP instructions at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925?viewlocale=en_US. Repeated attempts above - failed
    5. DID NOT kick out of recovery mode, closed iTunes, started iTunes again. Prompted with "Detected an iPod in recovery mode, must be restored before use" - clicked restore, selected 2.0 as source - failed
    6. DID NOT kick out of recovery mode, closed iTunes, started iTunes again. Prompted with "Detected an iPod in recovery mode, must be restored before use" - clicked restore, selected 1.1.4 as source - failed
    7. Did several of the above steps with nothing else connected to USB ports, and switching up the USB ports - failed
    I seem to have exhausted all tips I have found online through Google and various forums, including the ridiculous instructions from Apple to just remove all Apple software and reinstall. What a waste of time. Anyway, the ONLY tip I have not attempted is to perform a restore / upgrade on a second computer - I don't have access to one at the moment and would like to solve this another way.
    I am definitely open to more suggestions as I would really like to get 2.0 up and running. I mean - I paid for it and this Touch is only about 3 weeks old!

  • I'm trying to upgrade to IOS5 but I get an error 0xE8000067 and I can't update. What do I do?

    Like I said above, I am trying to update to iOS5 but I have a problem.
    When I try to update it says that it is backing up. But after about 5 minutes I get a 0xE8000067 error. I found someone saying to transfer purchases and if there is one app that keeps trying to transfer but doesn't, to just delete it. But that's the problem. There is an app that keeps trying to transfer, but the problem is... I deleted that app. So it is trying to transfer an app that no longer exists. I tried redownloading it and everything but it still fails.
    I really, REALLY don't want to continue with it and lose everything on it so I would extremely like some advice.

    See http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3221 and Error 0xE8000067 while updating to iOS5? for possible help.

  • Baseline deployment errors 0x87D00244 and 0x80041033

    I deployed a simple baseline and so far 55 computers have come back as compliant.
    However, there are 2 errors, and 2 different ones that are non-compliant.
    I was looking to enlist some expert help here to help figure out what's going on.
    The Errors:
    0x87D00244 (1 asset): "The object or subsystem has not been initialized".
    Does this mean the computer has a problem? Perhaps needs to be re-imaged (as a last resort)?
    0x80041033 (1 asset): "Shutting down".
    Does this mean the computer was simply just shutting down at the point of getting baseline results? Shouldn't it retry if that's the case, and not simply remain in an
    error state?
    The Non-compliants:
    There are some configuration items, such as the Interactive Logon message, that don't appear to be evaluated and reported back correctly.
    1 asset, for example, has these issues reported back. What are the semicolons in the values for? Are those built-in comments or are they actually being read from the target machine? And would a GPupdate be suggested here on the machine or just perhaps a re-image?
    I've no idea how long it could take to go through all these because there are more, but the other 55 computers
    are compliant.

    Hello,
    For those client with errors, did policy applied? Can you see baseline on clients?
    Did you view this report on client side?
    And  compliance log will be helpful here:

  • Having trouble fixing my jum error 545 and i have already updated it

    Hi I am getting really frustrated with the updating software on my phone. I have tried to update it using the cooprate e-mail process, personal e-mail process, download the new verison off the blackberry desktop, downloaded the verizon access manger, uninstalled the old verzion from my computer, taken the battery out, rest it several times, clicked update on the verizon site itself and just about anything to update this phone. But no matter what it still says jum error 545. I have a blackberry strom 9530 and i have almost had this for a year. I despertly need help!!! If you got any ideas I would greatly appreciate them.

    Hi,
    From what I understand from your post, you have a Storm 1 and you are trying to update the software.  I also understand from your post you are on a corporate system, a BES system.  To update you phone, you have to get all of the permissions in the software granted by your tech department.  They should be able to update the phone for you.

    The error is:
    update 2.1.2 120\getlasterror5
    Any idea what this error is and why I cannot update to 10.5 on itunes?  Im trying to update my iphone 3GS to ios5.    My husband was able to update my phone through his computer last nite but now I cannot get my apps back from my itunes acct because it will not update to the latest software.  Itunes is not even recognizing my iphone when I connect it to my computer.
    Please help!!  Need my apps!!

    WHAT OS? What security suite?
    I doubt that is the problem (it might) it could be something like your PC BIOS.
    You both use the same security software? No?
    Same router? so rule that out.
    The fastest way, believe me, had "h.... on wheels" with trying on different computers, just setup a 2nd Windows install / backup what you have / setup a new partition if you can, you may just have some under-the-hood issue harder to find pea under mattress / needle in haystack - be creative.
    Do a Windows Easy Transfer, always good to have, you may want ot migrate files back later to the new system.
    Future iOS updates won't be this involved or difficult.
    Some with 3GB though find that they lack the processing power and RAM to really enjoy or appreciate (or like!) the new iOS 5. It seems fine on Touch 4G but I wish I had at least double the RAM it has, and wish there was a new dual-core + graphics along with 512MB or more RAM.

    Could you guys please help me to troubleshoot 'Software Update Deployment Errors'. I have been trying to troubleshoot the below mentioned errors but I am not sure what step should I take for each different errors.
    Could you guys please help me stating what kind of troubleshooting steps should we take for such update deployment errors.

    You would have to examine client-side logs like UpdatesDeployment.log, U*.log in general, ScanAgent.log, WUAHandler.log, WindowsUpdate.log and CI*.log.

  • Web Services deployment error "Server returned nothing (no headers, no data)" and more

    I'm developing a large-scale VI with an associated web service VI in 2010 SP1. The "auxiliary VI" is responsible for data capture and analysis as well as communications and data storage. It is fairly large and communicates with the web method VI via network-shared variables [and I'm using the DSC module to allow event handling on the shared variables].
    I can build and deploy the web method VI just fine and it runs great. However, I need to communicate between the auxiliary and web method VI's, and it looks like I can't do that without including the auxiliary vi in the RESTful web service build [by the way, is there any way to do this with web service builds?]. When I added the auxiliary vi to the build, it built fine, but then during the deployment I got:
    "Server returned nothing (no headers, no data)"
    The next time I tried to deploy, I got a spurious NI Auth dialog per this KnowledgeBase article. Following the instructions for case 1 ["Application Web Server failure since last start"], I ran Services.msc and found that NI Application Web Service was indeed not running. I tried to restart the service but got this error:
    "The NI Application Web Server service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they have no work to do, for example, the Performance Logs and Alerts service."
    The KnowledgeBase article suggests restarting at this point and I did, but I still see the same behavior. So I really have a few questions:
    1. Is there any way to deploy a network-shared variable library across a deployed web service and local VI?
    2. What causes "Server returned nothing (no headers, no data)" upon deployment? A google search returned very little.
    3. What does this mean: "The NI Application Web Server service on Local Computer
    started and then stopped..." and what do I need to do to get my Application Web Server back up?
    [to heap on the pile... I tried to re-enable the Application Web Server from localhost:3580 and got an error. Then localhost:3580 went off-line also.]
    thanks!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Update.
    I noticed that the Application Web Server was trying to deploy the broken web service and was choking on it. There seemed to be no way to erase the .lvws originally created by the build. I could delete the deployment folder at $(WebServicesRoot)\UserServices\deployed\<Service Name>-<Globally Unique Identifier (GUID)> but it was recreated from the .lvws every time I attempted to restart the service.
    So I called NI and they pointed me to this directory [in XP]:
    C:\Documents and Settings\LocalService\My Documents\LabVIEW Data\WebServices\Standalone
    The .lvws was in this folder. I deleted it and now I can run the ApplicationWebService. Apparently this undocumented hidden file is a "not-quite-bug" that is recognized as needing a fix in upcoming releases.
