  • Oracle Webcenter Interaction and ADF

    Hi,
Could someone please confirm if Oracle Ensemble is required for ADF to be used in Oracle Webcenter Interaction? I have looked a documentation how Oracle Ensemble can be used to integrate ADF and Webcenter Interaction. I would like to know what are the benefits to use Ensemble to be able to use ADF in WCI.
Also, have one more question - is it true that using ADF makes it easier for the WCI Portlets to be migrated to Webcenter ? How does using ADF helps as compared to for example using Spring based Java Portlets in WCI?
    Thanks !

  • How do I integrate Adobe Flex into Oracles Webcenter Interaction portal

We currently use Oracle Webcenter Interaction portal 10gr3 (ALUI Portal)... Does anyone know how or can provide documentation on how to integrate adobe flex into this portal.. Our portal is on windows but it is the java installation of the portal. Any help would be greatly appreciated...
    thanks
    Laura

While I'd still like others to chime in with anything they may know (or think), I've gleaned the following:
    1)
"Oracle will support ALUI for the next 9 years and no customer will be forced to migrate off of ALUI. The long term direction is to migrate key features of ALUI into Web Center. "
    2)
"Web Center will be the strategic portal offering. Customers looking to move to Web Center may get credit for their ALUI cost.
We are currently selling Web Center and ALUI as one single suite. So customers buying the suite don’t have to choose between one or the other and get both automatically.
If you are happy with the functionality in ALUI then it would make sense to stick with it till we have more details on migration path, etc."
    4)
Publisher : the next release should come out (eventually). The long term direction is Oracle’s UCM (Stellent) product.

    Hi All,
Im using Oracle WebCentre Interaction , in my wci the upper logo is not there. Can anyone tell that how to make it appear.
Please help me in resolving this issue.

    Hi,
It sounds like you are talking about the header.
Make sure your Experience Definition has the "WCI" specific header.
If you need help with this I would suggest opening a support case.

  • Oracle WebCenter Interaction 10.3.0 Installation and start up error

    Hi,
I am trying to install the Java version of Oracle WCI 10.3.0 on Windows 7. I know Windows 7 of not officially supported. I was able to successfully install on Windows XP using the installation wizard.
However, for Windows 7 - I can't use installation wizard because when the wizard does not ask me to choose between Java and .NET installations, and by default it selects .NET. So, I had to use silent installation and was able to successfully install.
I am getting the below error (logs from portalserver.log) when I try to start the WebLogic server or run the portal diagnostic tool.
'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)'     com.plumtree.uiinfrastructure.diagnostic.reporter.Reporter     FAILED TO INITIALIZE SYSTEM. YOU CANNOT PROGRESS BEYOND THIS POINT. <ptLogMsgEnd>

Does anyone have seen this type of error and know how to resolve?
    Thanks.

I have been dealing with this for the past 2 weeks as well. It turns out that the diagnostics, and Weblogic (in my case) think that the portal is trying to run on an unsupported RedHat OS version. I was able to get around this by altering the following 2 files...
I added the parameter: -Dos.name="windows 2003" This tels the OS check that it's running on Windows 2003. I found this little tip in the following link: http://www.function1.com/2009/12/running-wci-10gr3-on-windows-2008/ It talks about Windows 2008, but seems to work for Windows 7 as well.
    D:\oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\wc_domain\bin\startWebLogic.cmd
    if "%WLS_REDIRECT_LOG%"=="" (
         echo Starting WLS with line:
         echo %JAVA_HOME%\bin\java %JAVA_VM% %MEM_ARGS% -Dweblogic.Name=%SERVER_NAME% -Djava.security.policy=%WL_HOME%\server\lib\weblogic.policy %JAVA_OPTIONS% %PROXY_SETTINGS% %SERVER_CLASS%
         %JAVA_HOME%\bin\java %JAVA_VM% %MEM_ARGS% -Dos.name="windows 2003" -Dweblogic.Name=%SERVER_NAME% -Djava.security.policy=%WL_HOME%\server\lib\weblogic.policy %JAVA_OPTIONS% %PROXY_SETTINGS% %SERVER_CLASS%
    ) else (
echo Redirecting output from WLS window to %WLS_REDIRECT_LOG%
         %JAVA_HOME%\bin\java %JAVA_VM% %MEM_ARGS% -Dos.name="windows 2003" -Dweblogic.Name=%SERVER_NAME% -Djava.security.policy=%WL_HOME%\server\lib\weblogic.policy %JAVA_OPTIONS% %PROXY_SETTINGS% %SERVER_CLASS% >"%WLS_REDIRECT_LOG%" 2>&1
    - And -
    D:\oracle\wci\ptportal\10.3.0\bin\diagnostic.bat
rem Start the command-line version tool
    "%PT_HOME%\%JRE_PATH%\bin\java.exe" -Dos.name="windows 2003" -Xms16m -Xmx512m -cp "%LIB_DIR%\diagrun.jar" com.plumtree.diagtool.diagnostic_net %*
    goto end
Also, note that you probably had to install the components in silent mode. This did not install all the services correctly. I was able to get around this by going back into the installation, and choosing the individual components to install. The a link above also mentions the config manager, and how to get this working as well.
    Hope this helps!!

Schema Spy is an amazing tool. I haven't used it for the WebCenter apps yet, but this will map everything out for you, providing the relationships you seek.

  • New in oracle webcenter

Hi , i am new in oracle webcenter .I am quite confuse now .Can anyone tell me what software should i need to install to try the oracle webcenter? I has already download Oracle Jdeveloper, Weblogic , Database ,Webcenter suite and Oracle RCU. Is it compulsory to install all the software on my PC? So far I am using window 7 64 bit.
In addition , can anyone give me some note which are best for the newbie to try the oracle webcenter?
I know this question is quite stupid. Special thanks to anyone who help me :)

You don't need to install all that software if you want to test the basic functionality of WebCenter.
JDeveloper is the IDE that you will be using to develop the portal. When you have installed Jdev, go to Help, Check for updates and look for the WebCenter extensions. Download and install them.
JDeveloper will than restart and when you create a new application you will see additional templates:
WebCenter Portal application: this is the template that allows you to create a portal with webcenter
Portlet producer: this template will create an application that allows you to create JSR 286 portlets that can be consumed in a webcenter portal or any other JEE portal with WSRP support.
The webcenter extensions do not contain the webcenter services like document services, discussion forums, activity streams and so on. If you also want to test them out, than you will need to install weblogic + webcenter suite.
A good start is the tutorial. I am currently in the procces of writing one. Currently i only have finished 2 parts but it's a start :)
    http://www.yonaweb.be/webcenter_tutorial/introduction
You will also find lots of other examples and articles on my blog :)
You can also download the prebuild VM from Oracle: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/webcenter/downloads/owcs-portalfw-vbox-284132.html
This VM does contain a full installation of the webcenter portal framework with the services (webcenter spaces is not installed on this VM).
And this is the tutorial from Oracle: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17904_01/webcenter.1111/e10273/toc.htm

  • Migeration of Portlets from Plumtree 5.0 to Oracle WebCenter 10g

    Hello
We need to migrate portlets in “Oracle WebCenter 10g RC3” from “Plumtree 5.0”. Till now we are using “Plumtree 5.0” and “.Net 1.1” for development of portlets.
    My question is:
is it possible to run all existing portlets directly (Without any change) on “Oracle WebCenter 10g RC3” or should we have to made some changes in code of all existing portlets (“Plumtree 5.0”) to run on “WebCenter 10g RC3”
I will appreciate any kind help/information in this regard.
    Thanks in advance

It is not possible to migrate portal objects from 5.0 to 10g3 or for that matter, any different versions. While migrating, the source and target installation versions should be the same. This is a PREREQUISITE.
I guess what you are trying to do is to upgrade your Plumtree 5.0 to Oracle WebCenter Interaction 10gR3. This is not directly possible. You will have to do at least 4 intermediate upgrades: 5.0 to 6.0 to 6.1 to 6.5 to 10gR3 (This is not accurate. Please go to edocs.bea.com/alui and go through the upgrade guides for the different versions)
Please do not confuse between Oracle WebCenter and Oracle WebCenter Interaction. The new name of the Plumtree portal / AquaLogic User Interaction is Oracle WebCenter INTERACTION and this product has been included in the Oracle WebCenter family. There were other member products pre-existing in Oracle WebCenter Product suite and as of now, applications referred to as Oracle WebCenter applications do not actually include OWC Interaction applications. Going forward, these technologies will converge/made interoperable and more combatible.
I guess you must have realized by now why your question had not evoked much interest here: Wrong Forum :D Please post your queries in Forum Home >> User Interaction and Content Management >> WebCenter Interaction and not in WebCenter Suite - Framework.

  • How to integrate oracle webcenter with oracle webcenter Sites?

How to integrate oracle webcenter with oracle webcenter Sites?

This very much depends on what you mean by the first "oracle webcenter" and what kind of integration you are looking for.
Oracle WebCenter contains three main product lines:
    - Oracle WebCenter Portal,
    - Oracle WebCenter Sites,
    - and Oracle WebCenter Content.
Since the newest version 11.1.1.8 it is possible to store Sites' assets in WebCenter Content.
WebCenter Portal, where the name WebCenter originated from, is another front-end technology, so it would rather co-exist next to Sites than integrate with them. See this thread WebCenter Portal and WebCenter Sites Integration for more details.

  • Oracle Portal 11g, Oracle WebCenter Suite or Oracle WebLogic Portal ?

Witch of these technologies, Oracle Portal 11g,
Oracle WebCenter Suite or Oracle WebLogic Portal ?
is the future product of oracle ?
I am going to use portal but I don't know witch of these product is the correct one.
I need help to clarified it. As i am going to use portal I want to use the one that oracle intend to support

    Hi Harish,
There are lot differences are available when you compare these three products, some them are
    Oracle Web Center Suite
Comprises of various components such as Web Center Interaction,Oracle Entitlement Server,Oracle Personalization Server an Ensemble(for proxying content and mashups) and chat server, wiki server, blog server, forum etc are available with web center suite. The collaboration tools are out of the box,so you dont require to redevelop anything to enable collaboration for your site.Basically webcenter is more powerful when used to develop intranet sites rather than a website which requires less collaboration.
    Oracle Portal 10g
Oracle Portal 10g is the primary oracle portal product before oracle bought BEA.The main difference is the architecture and framework,Oracle Portal uses sql/plsql intensively for processing the page as all their pages are developed from browser.Every thing you develop is streaming that is queried from DB in contrast with weblogic portal which has the feature of file based portal which is faster compared to the streaming(persistent desktops). The architecture is different compared to weblogic and webcenter. For ex:There are sql and pl/sql portlets which can be developed very faster which not there in the other two platforms.
    Oracle Weblogic Portal 10.3
It is hot in the market right now and development is easier and architecture supports both file based and streaming, the primary features of all the portal product are more or less same but webcenter has more collaborative features.Weblogic portal is very stable as it is on WLS which is a stable weblogic server.
I prefer if you have any previous experience on any of these products then built on that one.Else start with weblogic portal which is easier to startwith compared to others.

  • WebCenter Interaction or Oracle Content Integration Suite?

    Hello all,
I am a newbie to WebCenter.
I am very confused with whice we should use to integrate Oracle UCM with WebCenter, WebCenter Interaction or Oracle Content Integration Suite?
Is there any guides for UCM and WebCenter(10g and 11g) Integration?

    Workflow simple?Hi Geoff,
Whoah, that’s a lot of questions, this should probably be on another thread. By far, this in not a definitive review. (only personal experiences).
    But here goes…
    Assuming you’re using WCI 10.3.0\ALUI 6.5.x:
What has your experience with UCM been like?
    - Good. You should take UCM training to get the full breadth of what it offers.
    - UCM Install: Pretty simple. If you know where to look.
    - UCM is a Site Manager\builder and THEN some! CPS Portlet Integration covers a small set use cases of its full potential. UCM appears to be a stand alone product.
    - CPS Portlet integration. Not tightly integrated… Currently, you will have to manually add the portal users in the USERS ADMIN utility in the UCM installation. CPS Portlets EAR file is deployed on the OC4J Container/frameworks, which makes it a "Producer". ALUI WSRP Piece is the "Consumer" of the CPS Portlets into the Portal. Make sure you have installed ALUI WSRP correctly. Suggest learning about “WSDL”s. Currently, ALUI WSRP only supports version 1.0 WSDL’s. Only use the version CPS Portlet 1.0 WSDL’s, it offers you both 1.0 and 2.0.
    - What is OC4J Container? ‘http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/java/oc4j/1013/index.html’ Just install the oc4j frameworks… the full installation appears to be unnecessary.
Are the portlets good? Comparable to publisher in functionality?
    - The CPS Portlet Suite only represents Administration Portlets for UCM. There is no single .PTE file for CPS Integration. Per Documentation, "3.2.2 CPS Consumption Steps". You have to manage your admin objects.
    - There are no fancy wizards that will make your portlets, YET. Hopefully, this will be available in the future. Web service and portlet creation must be done manually. You must manually create your own web services to point at off site content.
How is the ease of use for non-technical content managers?
    - Well, once it is set up and you’re trained on UCM. Sure it's snap.
    Workflow simple?
    - Sorry, I haven't worked with this functionality.
Comments: Publisher really pampers you with all its portlet wizards. Look for them in WCI 11G/above.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers!!!
