It is interesting that you say it is an Adobe bug (or at least that is the implication I got). Part of the problem with VISTA has been that there are a lot of programs that do not work. That is also why many businesses and individuals are still using XP and refused to upgrade. VISTA has a service pack out, but I hear it still has lots of problem. MS has fixed VISTA where there own software was concerned, such as putting the help system back in that they had removed. I am not trying to say that VISTA is not the way to go, but that the blame for things not working should not be put on other software developers.
The $1500 must be for CS, since an upgrade to AA8 from AA7 is only $159. In today's market, AA7 is actually an old man with AA8 being out for quite a while. Six months ago you could still get XP Pro for about $190. I understand it is now almost $800, but I really don't track the prices. I am getting a new machine with VISTA on it in a week or two and plan to look at it a bit (called give it a chance). However, I fully expect to remove VISTA and install XP Pro. To me, that cost is a lot better than upgrading all of my software because of the changes in Windows.
So which system has the bug, Adobe or VISTA. I think you will find a lot of folks who say it is VISTA (that is not to say that Adobe doesn't have some issues also). Hope you get your system working satisfactorily.

Yes, that appears how Mavericks works right now. However, you can open the Address Panel, select all your contacts, then click the To (or CC, or Bcc) buttons to move the selection to the address field.
If it is not already in the Toolbar, right-click on the Toolbar and select Customize Toolbar…
Then, drag the address panel up to wherever you want it.
You may also want to add it to the New Message window in the same way.

  • Using Adobe Acrobat - Is it possible to execute JavaScript to report to LMS to track pdf was viewed?

Question:  Using Adobe Acrobat - Is it possible to execute JavaScript to report to LMS to track pdf was viewed?
What I would like to do is to create a pdf with an Acknowledgement button that when click will report (via JavaScript) to the LMS (Learning Management System) that the end user viewed/acknowledged the pdf.
Can this be down with JavaScript in this fashion?

Thanks, (My fault, as I should have specified this.) Due to legacy reasons I need to use ie, and so I can't use the PrintPdf firefox plugin. So from reading the rest of that thread, the best method does seem to be to get hold of a copy of acrobat, and add a Print() script in each file, and open it in a new tab.
At least it gives me somethigin to try anyway :-)

  • How do you deploy adobe acrobat xi from creative cloud for enterprise?

    Hello,
We purchased Creative Cloud Enterprise and our new supervisor wants adobe acrobat on all computers.  I downloaded the package through Creative Cloud and used the customization wizard to customize the msi in the exceptions folder just like the instructions said.  I followed the steps and deployed it out using Dell Kace.  When a user tries to open Acrobat, it tells them they have a trial version and they must register the product.  The instructions for the customization wizard said not to put the creative cloud serial number into the customization tool.  Is there something I'm missing with deploying adobe acrobat and creative cloud?
    Thanks,
    Michael

I'm not a CC expert, but I think normally admins configure Acrobat and then deploy everything via the Creative Cloud Packager. Acrobat certainly needs to be licensed, so when you only have a CC license, it's best to deploy in a standard way so that Acrobat get serialized with the license you have.

  • Testing plugin in Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Pro

    Hi,
I am trying to use Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Pro to test a plug-in I have created.
I have previous loaded and tested this plug-in in Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Pro Extended and it works.
Is there something I need to do to load this plug-in in Acrobat 9.0 Pro?
    Thanks,
    Jesse Perry

    Bernd,
I have a test box with Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Pro Extended installed which I have used for testing with this plug-in for 3 months. I developed this code using Visual Studio 2005. The plug-in works on this system. I loaded Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Pro on another test machine and copied the same plugin to the plug_ins directory of this machine from the Pro Extended plug_ins directory on the previous machine. When I start Acrobat 9.0 Pro, I don't see the menu that I created for the plug-in as I do on the original test machine.
Is it wrong to test it on a different machine from where it was compiled?

    Hi
I've a big problem with adobe acrobat reader XI pro and I hope you can help me.
The problem is; when I past copied text from some pdf books (not all of them) it past symbols only! wherever I past it! and even if I coped that text from another pdf reader (adobe pdf reader, internet browsers, ...etc.).
This problem started to happen since yesterday when I installed adobe acrobat reader XI pro to try it before I buy it, and before that when I was using the free adobe pdf reader I was totally able to copy any text from any pdf and past it anywhere with nothing wrong.
    What can I do?
    thank you a lot.

There is no product called Adobe Acrobat Reader Pro. There is
    - Adobe Acrobat Pro ($$)
    - Adobe Reader (free)
Which do you have? And are you a programmer?

  • Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Pro crashes at start up: Runtime Error-please help

I have Adobe CS4 installed on my Windows 7 PC. In addition, I have Adobe Reader XI and InDesign 6 installed. If I remember correctly, after I installed Adobe Reader XI, I uninstalled the version of the Reader which came with CS4.
So here’s my problem: When I try to download a PDF that has been sent to me in an email or open one that already exists on my computer, this happens:
    Runtime Error!
    Program: C…
The application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
When I click OK, I get this:
Adobe Acrobat 9.0 has stopped working.
If I try to Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Pro from my start menu, the same thing happens.
This makes no sense to me because
I don’t have the knowledge to figure this out. I have no idea what Runtime is.
Prior to a computer meltdown a couple of months ago and a complete reinstallation of everything, these very same programs all worked just fine.
I don’t understand why, when I try to open an emailed PDF, they don’t automatically open in Adobe Reader XI rather than Adobe Acrobat. Isn’t the general idea that people be able to open and view sent PDFs which they have been sent, which is what the Reader is for, and not usually edit them, which is what Adobe Acrobat is for?
If, instead of trying to open the emailed PDFs, I save them to my computer, I can launch Adobe Reader XI and open them from within that program without any problem. That’s OK if I just need to view the PDF, but I need to be able to edit PDFs too, so I must get Adobe Acrobat 9.0 to work.
Would reinstalling Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Pro help? Is there a way to reinstall that program only from the installation disks or would have to reinstall CS4 entirely?
I cannot open Adobe Acrobat 9.0 at all, so any solutions which must be done with the program open are not possible.
I would really appreciate some help.

    SOLVED!
Resetting Internet Explorer didn't work, Reinstalling Acrobat 9.0 Pro didn't work, but changing a registry key did.
Here's where I found the solution:
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library error opening PDF files - Microsoft Community
Here is the relevant post, but before you try it, read my note below:
    Hi,
This is known issue with Acrobat for several versions now, Adobe's current fix is just to update their software: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/404/kb404597.html
The problem is with the application data being misdirected.
"The affected user has a redirected Application Data folder and as a result the network path containing the Application Data uses a UNC path that begins with \\. This UNC path causes Acrobat 9.0 or Adobe Reader 9.0 to incorrectly parse the Application Data path and give the error message."
A potential Solution would be to go into the registry. Left Click type "regedit" and right click and run the program with "run as administrator". Go to Hkey_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Explorer\User Shell Folders and make sure see where "AppData" is pointing. If it is pointing to "%UserProfile%/Application Data" change it to point to "%UserProfile%/AppData/Roaming".
BUT, be careful about one thing: This poster seems to have accidentally used forward slashes when he should have use back slashes. Look at the very last line of his post where he advises "If it is pointing to "%UserProfile%/Application Data" change it to point to "%UserProfile%/AppData/Roaming". You'll find, or at least I did, that this key has a back slash, not a forward slash, so changing what I found: "%UserProfile%\Application Data" to "%UserProfile%\AppData\Roaming" worked and now Acrobat 9.0 works fine.

I have Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Pro  how do i get it to work on my microsoft surface 3

    Hello nnicora19a,
I am sorry but Acrobat 6 is not compatible to run on Microsoft Surface 3.
Moreover, Acrobat 6 is a very old version so Adobe also recommends you to install and use latest version (Acrobat XI) which is more compatible with OS on Microsoft Surface 3.

  • Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Pro., Edu. Version

    Hello,
I registered my CD and have the serial numbers for Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Professional (Education version)
and I just bought a new notebook with windows 8, no cd drive, however. Is there a download URL I can get
to install the Adobe Acrobat 6.9 Pro?  I cannot afford to buy a new version right now. I think spending what
I did originally should allow me to have at least one download correct?
    thank you
    Debbie

If you can find the trial version of the software at the site linked below you can use your original serial number to activate it.  You might have a problem getting it to install and/or work properly...  It is possible that it will not work with Windows 8.

There is no single "manual" explaining Acrobat (any release).
The reality is that a comprehensive "manual" would, in print, be more like volumes comprising an Encyclopedia set.

What follows provides a bit of an overview of what Adobe provides as information resources to facilitate understanding through study, Q&A, and 'show and tell'.
Note that there are many non-Adobe sources of information and training  that are most excellent as well.
There is the Acrobat Help documentation. This is installed when Acrobat is installed.
Adobe LiveDocs also provides Acrobat Help. There is a Help version for Standard, Pro, and Pro Extended.
This documentation is maintain as a living document set by Adobe.
There is the collected documentation available at Acrobat DevNet.

In mid-2008, PDF became an ISO Standard (32000-1).

  • Adobe Acrobat Standard or Pro?

I am updating a project, that I did not original work on, that was developed using Acrobat 7.0 and Distiller 7.0. It added the ability to save report files in PDF format and to digitally sign them. Besides the files generated by the SDK there are other files that were generated and edited by Acrobat 7.0 and Distiller 7.0. Files ending in .js looks like I just need a text editor and .api is generated by the SDK. Then I have files templates BlankPageDoc.pdf, BlankPageDoc.ps, TempDoc.pdf that were generate by Distiller. Then I have another file with the extension .joboptions that I don't know how it was generated.
So do I need Adobe Acrobat Standard or Pro to update this project for 8.0 and 9.0? I know I need Adobe Acrobat Standard to run it but will I need something in Pro for development?

Pro certainly includes various tools not found in Standard that you may find useful.

  • Adobe Acrobat 9.41 Pro+ on Snow Leopard 10.6.5 + Network users (Windows server 2008) = CRASH!

Adobe Acrobat 9.41 Pro will work “great” on the admin account, however through the active directory log on of network users, every user gets the long crash report upon opening the application.
Permissions are set so “everyone” can gain access, however the crash issue is not a decent setting on the Mac environment.
Will welcome any thoughts..comments… and suggestions.
    Thank you-

    OS: Snow Leopard 10.6.5
Active Directory Setup: Windows Server 2008 - Log in for network users
Adobe Acrobat: version crash 9.3 and 9.4.1
Admin of the Mac computer can log in and use the Adobe Acrobat Professional software, however when a network user
Tries to log on the computer and open the Adobe Acrobat 9.3 or 9.4 the software hangs....for 7-8 seconds then displays a crash report, and options are send to apple.
Permissions on every Adobe Acrobat folder on the computer are set to read/write for every user of the program.
Software Type: Using the DVD purchase with the Education program, and the serial number does accept, and download the software from the Adobe web page.

  • Editing a PDF with Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Pro

    Hi,
I've created a Will using an online kit. The final version is in PDF format. I can't print it out as is, because I want to delete a line at the end of a paragraph. I have Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Pro which I'm told can easily do this, but I don't know how to use it. I don't want to lose the exact format from the PDF version, because then I'd have to typeset the doc from scratch. By the way, I do not have the fonts used in the PDF doc. I hope this won't make a difference.
Can it be done? If so, exactly how. Please walk me through it like I'm six.
    Thanks so much.
    I'm on Mac OS 10.5.8

It's been a long time since I've used Acrobat 7 Pro but I have used Acrobat 8 Professional.
The key thing is to choose the correct tool. You're looking for the Touchup Text tool, which is probably on the Advanced Editing toolbar. You can probably open up that toolbar by choosing View > Toolbars > Advanced Editing. With that tool selected, drag through the sentence to be deleted. Right-click (Control-click) on the selected text and press Delete.
