Deploying Adobe reader plugin not working

Hi
I have an adobe reader plugin that works on my development machine. It displayes the toolbar in the "Extended" tab. I copied the .api file onto the plugins folder on another machine but the extended tab does not display. I also copied this onto the plugins folder just to test and this works.
Does anyone have any ideas? Is there some place where it(adobe reader) logs errors?.

One of the limitations of plug-ins (in many apps) is that they tend to have to be developed in the same language as the host. Otherwise the cost of converting linkages makes plug-in performance unacceptable; similar to the reason 32-bit apps have 32-bit plug-ins and 64-bit apps have 64-bit plug-ins. Acrobat is written in C/C++, hence so are plug-ins. If Acrobat was ever written in C# (unlikely while it is also on Mac), then no doubt all the plug-ins in existence would need to be rewritten in C#.
Personally, having developed many and very large Acrobat plug-ins, I don't see that C# would be an advantage. Of course what is popular and what is marketed to developers is not always what is the most practical.

  • After upgrading, Adobe reader is not working.

After upgrading to 10.10.2, Adobe reader is not working. It is asking for user agreement to be signed. I cannot find this again. I have uninstalled and re-installed but still does not appear. I have tried to contact Adobe with no luck. Can anyone help please?

Since you are running OS X 10.10.2, you do not have an iMac (PPC) so you have posted in the wrong forum. I have requested the Hosts to move your post to the correct forum where hopefully someone will see it and help you.

That is correct. Adobe Reader is intended for viewing PDF files, not for playing games. Perhaps you are thinking of Adobe Flash Player?

  • Highlight in Adobe Reader X not working after update to 10.1.1

    Hello
We have an application aimed at assisting people with reading difficulties. For that purpose we have written an Adobe Reader plugin which makes our application able to read text from PDF documents. While it reads it also highlights the words it is reading so that the user can keep up with it. However, after the 10.1.1 update of the Reader the highlighting no longer works.
The plugin was originally developed using Acrobat SDK 8.1, but the problem remained even after I upgraded to SDK 10. The highlighting is done using the AV-layer with the AVPageViewHighlightText() method.
We need to know if there is something in this recent update which breaks the highlight functionality, and if so, is it intentional?
PS: We are running with Protected Mode disabled since reading doesn’t work at all with it.

    Ok, I found the problem.
We are using the void AVPageViewDrawNow(AVPageView pageView) method to make sure that some changes are applied in certain cases. The behavior of this method seems to be different in Adobe Reader 10.1.1. Removing the call brought our highlighting back to life.

Now they can not print to the plotter in our office. They can pront the same pdf file to all other printer/plotters but not the HPT1200. I uninstalled Adobe XI and re installed Adobe X. and it works. • Adobe Reader 10 not working with Mac OS 10.6.7 browser

After upgrading to Mac OS 10.6.7, Adobe Reader 10 will not download a pdf file properly from either Safari or Firefox. In either browser, the resulting page is totally blank. Downloading older versions of Adobe Reader has not resolved the issue. Outside of any connection with a browser, Adobe Reader 10 works flawlessly as a free standing program. Would be grateful for any assistance.

    For everyone having the problem:
Highlight one of your .pdf documents. Hit Command + I on the keyboard for the "get info" window to open up.
Check to see what the "Open with" shows. If it is not Preview, choose Preview. You may have to click on the little lock in the bottom right corner first to unlock it and enter your admin password. When done, click the little lock to close it. Close the window. Restart computer. Try a .pdf now to see if it works.

  • Adobe reader does not work properly

My adobe reader doesn not open articles. All I get is a blank gray screen and a small circle where it looks like the file is trying to load. The reader use to open files with no problem and then it just didn't work correctly

    Hi Jaadbrown
You have two options to solve the problem:
1.- Remenber that every Mac can read all PDF format file with your "Preview App".
2.- You can uninstall your adobe reader deleting the App from your Aplication folder and download for free on the Official Adobe site in this link http://get.adobe.com/reader/?promoid=JZEFU
Good luck ... I hope it helps you!

  • Adobe Reader Plugin not installed in IE

    W7 64 bit Ultimate
I have Adobe Reader installed and running fine on my PC (Adobe Reader XI - 11.0.09)
It also works fine within Firefox .. plugin installed, enabled & working
However due to a specific requirement I have to use IE  (v 11 latest)
This currently will not work with on-line adobe forms ... "Read X" shows when I try to access adobe forms, when I look under add-ons .... only Adobe Shock wave shows, there is no Adobe reader plug-in.
I have re-run Adobe Reader install ... it comes back with message 'application already installed'
How can I install the IE browser plug-in?
Within Manager Add-ons I click on 'find plugins & toolbars' but it has nothing for Adobe or reader (pretty useless)
Anybody know how I can install it .... Adobe web pages just say enable it, but can't as it does not show.

Slight typo .... the form on screen was all in RED tables lines ... and above it a large Red 'X'
In show all add-ons    it did not show ... full de-install & re-install of Adobe Reader XI made no difference.
I then deinstalled IE and re-installed and it seems to have fixed it.
At least on IE ... still does not work on FireFox

  • Adobe PDF Plugin not working FireFox and SeaMonkey

Just updated to Acrobat XI. I find that the plugin to view PDF's doesn't work. just receive a Blank Screen when I try to view a Plugin.
I also notice in addons  when you go to plugins it shows two acrobat Pdf Plugins:
    Adobe Acrobat NPAI Plugin
    Adobe AAMDetect Adobe AAMDetect 1.0.0.0
and the one called 1.0  I have no idea what that is.
I see no sign of the Adobe PDF Plugin (which is in the Internet Plugins Folder)
I can use a Plugin from Schubert from Germany but it doesn't work with buttons to swich to a web page.
I can use Acrobat Reader. However in order to work it has to download the page from a website first. Who wants to do that.
    Can't you get this fixed???

Adobe Acrobat NPAPI Plugin is not supported in Firefox or SeaMonkey. Try disabling this plug-in from Firefox/SeaMonkey > Tools > Add-ons, then quit and restart your brwosers.
This should let you save/downlaod the PDFs locally.

  • Help! Youcam, Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Adobe Reader all not working in U310

Using a U310 ideapad with Windows 7 bought one year ago - warranty just expired of course!!
5 days ago I tried to pull up and excel spreadsheet from an e-mail and got an error message that there was not enough memory to do so.
Afterward, I tried to open word and it simply grayed out with a message box saying it was not working - it would try to fix the problem and then it just disappeared.  The same thing continues to happen.
I tried to open a PDF with Adobe Reader and it, too, crashed.  I uninstalled it and reinstalled it, stopped it from coming up in protected mode and now it doesn't crash but I cannot edit any pdf with it and the tools box no longer works at all - a small circle spins in it for a couple of seconds, then fades to gray.
My youcam will not turn on at all - when I click on the youcam icon, the cursor spins for a couple of seconds, then returns to an arrow and the youcam doesn't come on.
So, after experiencing all these things, I figured I'd try the tried-and-true method of rebooting my laptop.  When the laptop restarted, before allowing me to enter my password, the error message "verifyhost.exe - application error unable to start correctly Oxc000007b" came up.  I x'd out of that, entered password, then 2 other errors came up "lenovoreg.exe" and SACpl.exe
After working on this for hours, I'm really at a loss as to what it could be.  Does anyone have any idea?   It's unbelievable to me that this has happened on a new laptop that basically just sits on my desk - I don't travel with it and don't do much more than email and word processing on it!  I have no games and very little else even downloaded!

Download this, install, update and try to scan your hdd for malware.

  • Adobe Reader does not work-how to use adobe reader on Lion

I was trying to print an international label on eBay via Adobe Reader, and was very dissapointed and shocked that it does not work on Lion.
I was so happy that I figured out how to use adobe reader on Lion, and hope I can help anyone else who is frusterated too.
    Step 1. Download Google Chrome
Step 2. Printe your international label, or whatever you need to do that uses Adobe Reader

Thanks Shelly! I too was having trouble and thought it was something wrong with my Mac. I still have a big though. When I try to print the saved pdf file, I get a pop-up that says "The document could not be printed. There are no selected pages to print" even though I am looking at the complete doc. It's there and in my print prompt "all pages" are selected to print. The way I got around this, is by emailing the pdf file to a gmail address and viewing the attachment via Google Docs. It loads perfectly and prints without a problem.

  • Adobe Reader XI not working with SBA forms in FF and Chrome

So I am having this issue when I try to open an SBA form in chrome or FF where it will not open first try and I have to refresh the page untill it opens. IE on the other hand does not give me this problem, but I don't want to recommend my custoemrs use IE.
As a side note SBA forms have to be vied with Adobe so I have already disable Chromes pdf viewer and all other pdf viewers except adobe.
    Please help!
    -edit
    Adobe Read XI version 11.0.06
    Chrome = 32.0.1700.107 m
    IE = 11
FF = 26. currently updating will check with new version

I do not use Chrome, so I can't advise you about that.
But Firefox also uses its own PDF viewer, not the Adobe PDF plugin.  See http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/pdf-browser-plugin-configuration.html

  • Adobe Reader XI-Not working on Windows 8

Adobe Reader XI has suddenly stopped working on my Windows 8 laptop. It has worked previously and I'm not sure what has changed. I have the most up to date version of Adobe Reader. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled the program. I have also used the adobe cleaner but nothing seems to be helping. Please help! I have lots of information from classes that are in pdf files. Thank you!!

    Some things to try...
Using Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement
Can you open Adobe Reader by itself?  If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
If you cannot open Reader by itself, try to disable Protected Mode in the registry; download, unzip, then run the attached registry script
It could even be a malware issue; see http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/reader-core-dll-error.html

  • Adobe Reader XI not working for me (Windows 7)

I just installed adobe reader XI and now I can't open any PDF files. The application itself won't even start properly. The default window opens but then it completely shutsdown without any indication of why it did so. No error report or anything.

I found the solution to the program itself not opening properly on another thread on this site.  See below:
I spoke to a colleague about what was happening, and he had me reinstall Adobe Reader XI and attempt to start it.  I then navigated to the C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader\ folder and double-clicked the Eula.exe. It displayed the End User License Agreement window and I clicked 'Accept'. After doing that I was able to start the Reader without issue and it all seems to be working fine now.
The above worked for me and now Reader XI will open properly and stay open.  Hope this helps someone else.
