Deploying CS3

I have been through all the guide's onine and havent been able to deploy Adobe CS3 Master Collection, i tried to do a silent intall but it does'nt complete, so i thought i would try and see what part it gets stuck at. It seems to get stuck at the serial part of the install which, i don understand why as he serial i provide works perfectly when i do a manual install and i have copied that into Application.xml.Override file

Steven,
Who me? Or are you asking Adobe in this User-to-User forum?

  • CS3 Web Premium Setup.app crashing on launch

    Trying to install CS3 Web Premium on a Mac intel w 10.5.2 and I cannot get the installer to launch. It did not auto run as the instructions indicated and there was no Setup MacOS file that I could find on the dvd, but I did find Setup.app. Launching this fails almost instantly with an error:
    [0x0-0x16016].Setup[241]: /System/Library/Frameworks/Carbon.framework/Versions/A/Support/LaunchCFMApp[241] Launch failed with error code -2857 (cfragCFragRsrcErr) for application /Volumes/Adobe CS3 Web Premium/Adobe Creative Suite 3 Web Premium/Setup.app/Contents/MacOS/Setup
    The installer does not leave a log file in either Library or that is accessible via the Console. I've tried installing from a different admin account and also as root. Same result in both cases. I also attempted to run the actual Setup executable that is within the Setup.app bundle via Terminal and was told "cannot execute binary file".
    Thinking i might have had some previous adobe junk, i've also run the adobe clean up script at level 4. No effect on the crashing installer.
    Any ideas?

    I am installing a brand new MacPro with OS X 10.5.2. It is a machine upgrade for the user so all of her previous user files were also transferred during the setup. Two days ago we got our new CS3 site license upgrade discs and I was using it to install a fresh copy of CS3 Standard. We had a 5 user license disc that we were using to test before deploying CS3 to the users so we know that we can install from that disc, unfortunately it is a CS3 Premium disc and a different serial number.
    Also of note, once the setup.app crashes (actually it never really launches) other apps, like Safari also will no longer launch. I have repaired disk permissions and the next thing I will try is installing as another user, but it looks like you guys have already tried that.
    Any help would be wonderful, this user returns from vacation on Monday!

  • Error 1335: file corrupted Media.cab (CS3 Web Premium)

    ING
    Hello,
    I have Adobe Creative Suite 3 Web Premium and am having trouble reinstalling the applications.
    I had to remove them from my switch and when I reinstall the error 1335 appears corrupted file, in case Media.cab, I saw my media and is a risk with it, but do not know whether this risk is due. I wonder if someone had the same problem, it failed to respond or if you can put the Media.cab of CS3 Web Premium for me to download.
    Have I contacted the media in Brazil, but the clerk informed me that they do not give more support for this product and that I should contact the forum to try to solve.

  • Installing CS3 from portable drive?

    Hello All,
    I would like to install CS3 from a portable drive, avoiding hanging around and doing the multiple disc swaps - could any one point me in the right direction?
    i have been charged with the task of maintaining 40+ Macs of various specs for a graphics department. I need to deploy CS3 to machines all over the building, many of them not networked. The install understandably takes a little while and requires me flitting between machines swapping the discs round a lot. It would be grand if I could have the install on a USB/FW drive, plug in and toddle off on other jobs while it works it's magic. Is this possible and where might I look for more info?
    Help much appreciated.

    Hello Neil.
    Is there a way to do it (from the external hard drive) ?
    I believe the answer is no.
    You can use Apple's Media Exchange Program to exchange the DVD media for CD media, purchase or access an external DVD drive that is capable of booting the computer from the Tiger install disc or if your Mac has a Firwire port (which I'm sure it does) and it supports Firewire Targer Disk mode and you have access to another Mac that supports the same with a DVD drive, you can connect both Macs via Firewire Target Disk mode and install Tiger from the Mac with the DVD drive on your Mac.

  • How to read/open Adobe Photoshop CS3 Prefs.psp

    In which Programming language Adobe Photoshop CS3 Prefs.psp are written?
    Extend Toolscript wont open and in text edit is just cryptic hireoglyphs.
    Thans in advance!

    I for one have a totally legitimate reason for editing a PSP file. We have deployed CS3 to thousands of nodes across our campus, and the behavior of the scratch disk just made my jaw drop in horror (not to mention the sporadic way the PSP file is created and modified). NONE of our users (except admins) have access to the root of the C:\, yet it will only write to the root of a partition! I have found that the setting is stored in a PSP file, and I am in the middle of writing a 50+ (and growing) line VBScript to essentially create an X:\ to point to C:\temp and change the setting in the PSP file. However, I cannot figure out how this file works. The setting that points the scratch disk to C:\ does not exist in the file unless I have had PS open for a period of time.
    Adobe's biggest customers are institutions like ours and I cannot believe this issue went over Adobe's head in testing and QA.
    I did however, get a kick out of the dozens of instances of the string "loob".

  • Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional cannot be launched at this time.

    Hi
    So i've trying to deploy CS3 Design Standard in our enterprise environment. And one of the deployments, requires that i have to deploy ONLY the Adobe Acrobat Professional component of the CS3 package.
    I run the install, and untick Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign etc......so JUST leaving Adobe Acrobat Professional. It installs fine, along with the Shared Components etc.
    But when i run Adobe Acrobat Professional, it pops up saying:-
    Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional cannot be launched at this time. You must launch at least one other suite component (such as Adobe Photoshop) before launching Acrobat 8 Professional.
    Now, as you can see i can't launch another suite component, as i've chosen not to install them. I'm assuming this is required so it can "register" itself. If this is working "by-design" then why does it let me install Adobe Acrobat Professional by itself, if i can't run it????

    Simon = The rest of the CS3 package works great in a ThinApp package, doesn't seem to be any performance difference between install types. Plus you have the advantage of no extra registry keys or dll's floating into your system.
    Peter = Thanks for the helpful comment, really helps me with this issue. And how is my installation of the product not "as designed".
    Adobe give you the option of JUST installing Adobe Acrobat Professional, so if they allow this, surely it's BY DESIGN! The fact it doesn't work by itself means that Adobe should change their design to state the fact you need to install another suite product to allow it to work.
    I've also tried packaging a standalone copy of Acrobat Reader Professional using VMWare ThinApp, but it does not work. And i've no problem with this, theres no real way to virtualize a device (i.e the Adobe PDF printer) so i'm fine with that.

  • Adobe CS2 Silent Uninstall

    I'm trying to remove CS2 before I begin deploying CS3. I'm trying to automate as much as possible. I've got CS3 tested and ready to deploy, but I need to remove CS2 from the machines. Does anyone have a silent uninstall script?
    Matt Hilton
    [email protected]

    Do you have a really good reason for removing CS2? The two versions will coexist without problems, and it may be worthwhile to keep the old one around for legacy work. And if this is an upgrade installation, I don't think you'll have much luck with a silent install if the installer doesn't see the previous version on the system.

  • Adobe After effects cs3 deployment

    Hi
    I am hoping someone here can help me. I have to deploy Adobe after effects CS3 to about 30 pc's.
    I have done the following command
    setup--record=1 which generated a install.xml file and an uninstall.xml file
    I am still struggling to understand what the install.override.xml does?,
    Lastly is there any way to include the updates needed for after effects cs3 during the deployment?
    Any help or advice would greatly be appreciated

    I am still struggling to understand what the install.override.xml does?
    It overrides dependencies for local installs like language selection and serialization or otehrwise some packages would not install.
    Lastly is there any way to include the updates needed for after effects cs3 during the deployment?
    Not that I know of, but you could just create a custom MSI script/package that installs them immediately after the original software.

  • Photoshop CS3 Extended - Silent Deploy

    Hello All,<br /><br />I'm having difficulty installing Photoshop CS3 silently.  I've made a copy of the "Adobe CS3" directory on the DVD media to a network share (its contents being Setup.exe, as well as several other files and the payloads, redist, and  resources directories). <br /><br />As per the instructions in cs3_deployment.pdf I've created a file with the name "application.xml.override" within the payloads\AdobePhotoshop10en_US_volume directory. The contents of this file are as follows:<br /><br /><?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><br /><Configuration><br /><Payload><br /><Data key="Serial" protected="0">SERIALNUMBERHERE</Data><br /><Data key="Registration">Suppress</Data><br /><Data key="EULA">Suppress</Data><br /><Data key="Updates">Suppress</Data><br /></Payload><br /></Configuration><br /><br />After creating the file, I ran setup.exe with the --mode=Silent command line parameter after which I received the following message at the command prompt:<br /><br />"UI mode: Silent"<br /><br />After Setup.exe and msiexec.exe appeared in the task manager for a moment I received an error message at the command prompt as follows:<br /><br />"End Adobe Setup.  Exit code: 7"<br /><br />According to cs3_deployment.pdf this error code corresponds to the following message:<br /><br />"Unable to complete the silent workflow"<br /><br />I am at a loss as to what to do. I typed the file out manually with normal quotes so as not to experience the issue of typographer's quotes being used instead of normal quotes.<br /><br />According to the log file located in c:\program files\common files\adobe\installers, the following error was experienced:<br /><br />"Deployment file does not exist: C:\program"

    I'm having trouble getting the CS3 silent install to find the Serial Number & EULA options - I've been through the xml files many times to check my syntax & spelling, but can't seem to find the problem.
    My application.xlm.override is:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <Configuration>
    <Payload>
    <Data key="Serial" protected="0">13251xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx</Data>
    <Data key="Registration">Suppress</Data>
    <Data key="EULA">Suppress</Data>
    <Data key="Updates">Suppress</Data>
    </Payload>
    </Configuration>
    I've saved this file in \\Hamilton\apps2\AdobeCS3\payloads\AdobeMasterCollectionSuiteen_US_Volume - I got the folder name from setup.xml in \\Hamilton\apps2\AdobeCS3\payloads\
    I've also tried copying the file to \\Hamilton\apps2\AdobeCS3\, \\Hamilton\apps2\AdobeCS3\payloads & \\Hamilton\apps2\AdobeCS3\deployment
    I've checked the serial number is correct by copying & pasting it into the serial number prompt after doing a non-silent install.
    The shared components are installing and also Acrobat, but not the others. When I read the installation log files, the install fails because the serial number was not found. The logs also show that the EULA settings are not being found.
    Here is the command I've used to try to install AfterEffects:
    \\Hamilton\apps2\AdobeCS3\setup.exe --mode=Silent --deploymentFile=\\Hamilton\apps2\AdobeCS3\deployment\AfterEffects.xml
    And the contents of Aftereffects.xml are:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><Deployment>
    <Properties>
    <Property name="installLanguage">en_US</Property>
    <Property name="eula_EPIC_EULA_ACCEPTED">1</Property>
    <Property name="eula_EPIC_EULA_SELECTED">0</Property>
    </Properties>
    <Payloads>
    <!--Adobe After Effects CS3-->
    <Payload adobeCode="{FB245ED0-CD60-4B9C-9EB2-CDB63D189087}">
    <Action>install</Action>
    </Payload>
    <!--Adobe After Effects CS3 Template Projects & Footage-->
    <Payload adobeCode="{86B6D6BA-3231-4EF8-9C32-5DF258D3DB90}">
    <Action>install</Action>
    </Payload>
    <!--Adobe After Effects CS3 Third Party Content-->
    <Payload adobeCode="{A38BA97D-690D-487B-AA57-ED9F61AE5CC5}">
    <Action>install</Action>
    </Payload>
    </Payloads>

    I'm sure there is something I'm overlooking, but can't seem to find what it is.

  • Adobe CS3 Silent Deployment - Win7 x64

    Hello,
    I'm trying to silently deploy Adobe CS3 Web Premium to our Win7 x64 machines.  I've deployed it to XP machines in the past successfully but I keep getting errors now.  I've utilized the '--record=1' option and also successfully created the 'application.xml.override' file and placed it into the right folder.  When I go to run the silent install it fails after a minute with an 'exit code 7.' Looking at the installer log it says:
    FATAL
    Exception: Payload deployment data is invalid or missing
    Exit code: 7
    My command is: "%~dp0Setup.exe" --mode=silent -–deploymentFile="%~dp0deployment\install.xml" --skipProcessCheck=1
    I've run the install manually and it succeeds except for one pop-up requesting 'AdobePDF.dll'

  • CS3 Deployment issues

    I have some issues with an enterprise deployment of CS3.
    All computers are XP Pro. All computers have Acrobat Reader 7 on the base image.
    We have 3 different installs for CS3: one for InDesign, one for Illustrator, and one for Photoshop. All three install Acrobat Pro, because it has to be installed for the other programs to work. (Licensing thing.)
    Silent installs all.
    Issues.
    1. I have found that I must uninstall any versions of Reader before installing. Interestingly, if I don't, than Acrobat Pro won't install but the other 3 will.
    2. If a user installs say InDesign (w/ Pro) first, than needs Photoshop later. Photoshop installs, but Acrobat Pro uninstalls.
    I have double checked my install.xml files. I have 3. One for Indesign, one for Illustrator and one for Photoshop. All three do install Acrobat Pro. I think the install.xml files are correct.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Patrick

    The install is supposed to uninstall Reader and then install Pro. It doesn't. At least not for me.
    We have 100's of computers and only 20 or so need Pro. That is why the image had Reader on it. And why would adding one of the other components later uninstall Pro???
    Would it just work better if I deploy the whole CS3 for everyone who just needs some component anyways?

  • Installing CS3 (Volume License) for mass deployment via NetInstall (via OS X Server)

    Hello.
    I'm wondering if anyone has any experience using CS3 (volume license) for mass deployment? We used to manually install on machines, but as the size of the organization has grown, this has become more and more inconvenient. This summer we're planning on a complete upgrade to all systems and during this process we're doing HD formatting and clean installations of all systems and software. To make this process more efficient (as all systems are set up the same way) we're now looking into using OS X 10.5 Server, NetInstall and a cloned system image for deployment to all machines.My question is, is there anything relating to CS3 that may cause issues with this process? Does CS3 installation bind itself to the hardware it was installed on? Since we are using a volume license, I don't have to worry about individual serial numbers and activating the system with Adobe, but again, I'm unsure if installations are somehow tied into the hardware they were installed on? Ideally, I'd install CS3 onto the "master" system and run all updates prior to making the final system image. Has anyone that's done this using CS3 provide any information that may help me out?
    Thanks,
    Kristin.

    kristin,
    No one is withholding a reply from you because you're using CS3. It is just that no one who may know the answer has wandered by. The folks who help here are Adobe product users, like you.
    >This summer we're planning on a complete upgrade to all systems and during this process we're doing HD formatting and clean installations of all systems and software.
    My only point was that you will be spending a lot of time and effort on a setup that is centered around older, discontinued software. And my thinking is that if you are going to the time and expense of revamping your office, why not do it right and include CS4? If you install CS3 now, when you do decide to upgrade to CS4, you will be giving yourself a lot of extra work. From my point of view, the added software cost would be a good investment
    during the current systems overhaul. Otherwise, it just isn't a "complete upgrade". You're installing '07 parts on the '09 Mercedes.

  • [JS][CS3] Script deployment question

    Hi everyone,
    I am currently writing scripts in a corporate environment (~30 users), and I'm contemplating the easiest and most efficient way of deploying the scripts. We have a couple of scripts already with the users that are located locally on their machines. As time goes on we'll be writing more and more scripts and updating the existing ones as necessary.
    My current inclination is to stop saving the files locally on the individual machines and instead put a shortcut to a shared server folder in the scripts folder instead. In my testing it seems to work fine without any significant delay, and it automatically populates all of the files in linked folder. I basically want to be able to make sure that users are always launching the most up-to-date code and that any future scripts can be easily deployed without me walking around to everyone's desk (or worse, e-mailing instructions and hoping for the best).
    Are there any downsides/performance issues to this approach? It's a strictly desktop environment, so I don't have to worry about laptop users who are not connected to the network. Is there an alternate way that would be smoother?
    Thanks!

    We've tried it both ways. On our 12 InCopy machines (OSX), we have a symbolic link from /Applications/Adobe InCopy CS5/Scripts/Scripts Panel/ to a shared folder. This works great as long as our file server doesn't go down, and all sorts of other things would break horribly. And the User scripts folder is still available for any machine-specific customizations.
    For our 4 InDesign machines, we decided that was a little too much risk. So instead we have a script, copyScripts.jsx, that just copies scripts from the file server to the Application scripts folder. So everytime there is a change, we go around to those 4 machines and run copyScripts. This works OK.
    It's a little bit of a pain but it also insulates us a bit from bugs, and it means that whoever is using InDesign can decide to not update the scripts if they are in the middle of something critical. They can choose to defer taking the script updates.
    I think if we had to do it over, we probably wouldn't bother with the copyScripts mechanism. The centralized shared folder works pretty well. But it's not so annoying that we've gotten rid of it. And for 4 machines, it's not a huge burden.
    Also, there are some questions of development. If it's convenient to do development in the ESTK, having the shared folder means you cannot just rightclick in the Scripts panel and choose Edit Script. Or if you do, then any changes you save as you are developing the script are instantly available to everyone, potentially breaking their work if there are problems, or if there is debugging output ,etc., etc. So you need to make sure you do a development in a different place. Just something to keep in mind.

  • Deployment Question - Reserialize CS3 Suite on OS X

    Hello,
    We want to build a package installer for our technicians to be able to go out and install Creative Suite CS3 that contains all of the updates. To build the package, we install, which requires a serial number, and then perform all of the updates. After that, we need to unserialize so that we can make a package installer. We have been able to figure out that deleting the Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe PCD/cache/ will unserialize the app, prompting us to serialize on next boot, but Acrobat no longer works after this process. Has anyone come up with a workable way to unserialize CS3 suite so it can be serialized?
    Thanks

    Thank you for the suggestion try67, I'll attempt to be a little more clear. For many of our customers, we get the volume license of CS3 and we are able to build drive images for them with CS3 and all the updates. The process I am talking about is the ability to create a package installer, which we can do with many other applications. For most applications, it goes like this..
    1. Take a snapshot of the machine.
    2. Install the application
    3. Install all updates
    4. De-serialize the software (most applications automatically do this when they notice they're on another system)
    4. Take another snapshot of the machine.
    5. Create a package installer of the CS3 installation with all the current updates.
    Why do this? We service 1000's of systems over 100's of customers and have many technicians that have to install the CS3 suite. We don't want to spend more time on this task then is necessary. Additionally, it saves the customer money because the package installer is significantly faster than the CD/DVD install and the technician doesn't have to sit there repetitively installing Adobe updates. The other option is for us to take those site licenses, put them on machines and build package installers of those every time there is an Adobe update, not a very realistic option. Plus, that doesn't help us with the small installations that don't have site licensing.
    The ability to build a package installer is useful regardless as to if you are a single person shop or you have lots of technicians. The only people who don't like package installers or disk images are those that like to overcharge the customer
    As far as conforming to the EULA, some of our customers are large Adobe customers and they build these package installers all the time (on Windows and Mac). Their lawyers have already vetted the process through the EULA. To be clear, the installer is not serialized, so once it is installed, the serial number must be added to make the software active.
    If you look at CS3 suite, you can easily make a package installer based upon my initial post, but the reserialization routine in CS3 does not reserialize Acrobat. All we're asking is that the routine handle all the applications that came with the suite or some method of calling the proper routine that will reserialize Acrobat.
    I hope I cleared up the request.
    Thanks -- Nick
