Deploying custom dictionaries to Office 365 users

Hi All,
We are currently in the process of migrating some of our user accounts to Office 365 during which we have discovered that once these account are migrated they are no longer using the organisations custom dictionary we deploy via group policy to
all users. If we clear all of the values out of "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Proofing Tools\1.0\Custom Dictionaries" and then add the dictionaries in as per the below article's instructions Word will use our custom dictionaries.
However we want to avoid clearing all of the values out of "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Proofing Tools\1.0\Custom Dictionaries" because this will mean that any custom dictionaries our users have manually added will be lost.
(http://blogs.technet.com/b/office_resource_kit/archive/2011/12/16/deploying-a-custom-dictionary.aspx)
Below is the result of GPP registry items we have in place to set custom dictionaries.
However after Office 365 it appears users are logging into Office applications with their Organisational account and we're seeing the following registry changes and the custom dictionaries are
no longer applied:
If you add the registry items in the article to the above key once the users have migrated to office 365 it doesn't work.
Any advice about how we can get our custom dictionary deployed to all of these users without wiping out all of their custom dictionaries would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Joe

Hi,
Since I don't have the exactly same environment, I suggest you try to manually transfer the user's dictionary, after the dictionary is added to Office 365 Application, check what changes have been made in the Registry settings, maybe this can let
us know how to modify the registry keys to accomplish the migration.
To transfer the custom dictionary, copy the custom dictionaries to your transfer location. If you've saved other custom dictionaries in different folders, copy them too.
On the new Office, open Word -> FILE -> Options -> Proofing -> When correcting spelling in Microsoft Office programs -> Custom Dictionaries -> Click "Add" and browse to the dictionary file, open it. After the dictionary is added
to the new Office install, check the registry settings under "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Proofing Tools\1.0\Custom Dictionaries" to know what changes have been made to let it take effect.
This method doesn't bring you to the direct solution but may be a way to find it.

Melon Chen

  • Office 365 user Id and Azure

    I am trying to use Azure with my Office 365 account. I have a home version of Office 365 (the one for 5 users). When I try and do this I get the following message:
    "Sign out of your Microsoft account and sign in with the Office 365 user ID assigned to you by your work or school.
    Sign in with the Office 365 user ID assigned to you by your work or school. It looks like [email protected], [email protected], or [email protected]"
    I am using the only account I have for Office 365. I don't have another User Id. Does this mean my account is not entitled to use Azure?

    Hello,
    Microsoft Office 365 account does not give access to Microsoft Azure. These are different products.
    You can sign-up for a

  • Deploying Farm solution in Office 365

    How to deploy the farm solution in office 365. My application contains user controls. so i need to deploy this in Office 365. I tried with sandboxed application, but sandboxed solution does not support usercontrols. So how to deploy this in Office 365.
    Thanks, Chinnu

    I created a Sandboxed Solution, Added one Visual web part in that solution with one button control. Added Microsoft.Sharepoint.Taxonomy.dll Reference to the solution. Then in the button click event i wrote the following code:
    SPSite site = SPContext.Current.Site;
                var taxonomySession = new TaxonomySession(site);
                var termStore = taxonomySession.DefaultSiteCollectionTermStore;
                lbl1.Text = termStore.ToString();
                var termStoreGroup = termStore.CreateGroup(txtTermSetGroupVal.Text);
                var termSet = termStoreGroup.CreateTermSet(txtTermSetCatNameVal.Text);
                termSet.CreateTerm("AAA", CultureInfo.CurrentCulture.LCID);
                termSet.CreateTerm("BBB", CultureInfo.CurrentCulture.LCID);
                termStore.CommitAll();
    Then, I deployed this solution in one Publishing site. Added one new page in that site and Inserted this visual webpart in that page. When i click that button, I got the
    following error,

  • Office 365 user online status

    I am developing a search page where displaying users from office 365. I have retrieved all the users using the command  Microsoft.SharePoint.Client.UserCollection userCollection = client_Context.Web.SiteUsers;. To retrieve all the property values
    for a user i have used this command Microsoft.SharePoint.Client.UserProfiles.PersonProperties userInformation = peopleManager.GetPropertiesFor(oUser.LoginName);
    Now my customer wants to show the indication of user currently available in online or not. I don't know whether i will get this value from a property or need to call any other service to check online status.
    If anybody have any information please answer my question.

    Online Presence in SharePoint is provided client side by using whatever instant messaging client the user is using.  SharePoint doesn't actually keep track of who is online.  Here's an answer to another question that discusses the HTML used to
    display presence.

  • Office Templates being pushed to all Office 365 users

    Hello, I want to push out a PowerPoint, word, excel templates to all the users in my office 365 domain, so when they open a word document they have the option to choose a master template. Is there a way to do that in a Non-Active Directory environment. I
    noticed a Client - Share Documents in my PowerPoint, but I can't seem to find where that is? I have figured how it is suppose to work, but I am having trouble. I have been sent to a few different forums now, I am hoping that I do not keep getting bounced.
    Office seems to point to a library called Clients-Shared Documents. My home site is called FCRL Home (not sure what it used to be). It may have been clients at the beginning, but it is not now. I do have a site called clients, but it is way down in the hierarchy,
    and changing that template document does not seem to work. I still have not found where the library it is looking too, any other suggestions?
    A couple of other questions:
    How do I change the document library in which it looks for the templates? is that not possible?
    Is it always the first library in the team site it looks too?

    -Active Directory environment and we are unable to deploy Office template through GPO. However, you may check this:http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint-foundation-help/set-a-file-template-for-a-document-or-form-library-HA010377912.aspx
    Furthermore, to begin to get a handle on corporate documents and themes, I highly recommend Stephanie Krieger's book, Documents, Presentations, and Workbooks: Using Microsoft Office to Create Content That Gets Noticed- Creating Powerful Content with Microsoft
    Office. This is a documentation on creating advanced Word (and other) templates and documents and Office themes. It includes some info on deployment also that should be helpful to you.

  • Deploy custom templates in Office 2013

     Hi All,
    We have been using the backstage view of Office 2010 to deploy custom templates, as described in the TechNet article
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc178976(v=office.14).aspx
    We recently upgraded to Office 2013 and have not been successful in getting our templates to show up in the backstage view.  We have tried creating the spotlight registry keys under
    the \Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common\Spotlight but this was also unsuccessful.
    Has anyone been able to deploy custom templates using the 2007/10 spotlight approach outlined in that TechNet article?
    Thanks
    Dan

    Thank you Max,
    Can you please specify how the permissions should be set to allow Word 2013 to access SP 2013 via the XML file? Is it enough to simply be logged into SharePoint with Contribute rights to the library or is there more that needs to be done?
    Hi Katie,
    I believe Contribute permissions are enough for this case.
    Have a look at the following solution, see if it works for your situation:
    http://zasharepoint.blogspot.com/2014/04/sorry-we-couldnt-find-your-file-is-it.html
    More hints to troubleshoot this issue:
    Have you tested this issue on another machine?
    Is proxy used?
    Does the SharePoint environment has complex permission settings (e.g. the inheriting permissions are broken, or cross domain environment, etc.)?

  • Find all Office 365 users where calendar permissions on default user is not "NonEditingAuthor"

    Hi
    How do I make a Powershell script to find all users where calendar permissions on "default" user is not "NonEditingAuthor" in Office 365?
    Best Regards
    MSISOM

    Hi MSISOM,
    To export calendar permission on default user, please refer to this script:
    $rptCollection = @()
    $mailboxes = get-mailbox -ResultSize Unlimited
    $mailboxes | foreach-object{
    $alias = $_.alias + ":\Calendar"
    $displayName = $_.DisplayName
    write-host $alias
    $permissions = Get-MailboxFolderPermission $alias | Where-Object {$_.user.UserType.value -eq "Default"}
    if($permissions -ne $null){
    foreach($perms in $permissions){
    foreach($right in $perms.AccessRights){
    $rptCollection += New-Object psobject -Property @{
    "User" = $perms.User
    "Identity" = $perms.Identity
    "StringAccessRights" = $right}
    }$rptCollection
    The result is for your reference:
    Then you can filter the result with the cmdlet "where-object {}"
    If there is anything else regarding this issue, please feel free to post back.

  • Power shell to restore recoverable items for multiple office 365 users

    Dear Friends,
    I would like your help to see the possibilities of recovering all the deleted items from deleted folder of all my users, by mistake a retention policy was applied on the mailbox level and it moved all items older than 90 days to the deleted items folder.
    A quick response will be much appreciated, i am trying to follow this process of recoverdeleteditems.ps1  but nothing works out.I was thinking to use search-mailbox but couldn't gather a proper syntax to move items to the inbox of same

    It's recommended to download and install
    Configuration Analyzer Tool (OffCAT), which is developed by Microsoft Support teams. Once the tool is installed, you can run it at any time to scan for hundreds of known issues in Office

  • Unable to license Office 365 ProPlus when customized at the application level

    It has long been claimed that Office 365 ProPlus can only be installed as one single package, and that Click-to-Run is not customizable at the application level.  Microsoft lists the following at
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj839718.aspx “Office 365 ProPlus installs as one package. This means you can't choose to deploy Word and PowerPoint to users, but not Access.
    If you don’t want users to run Access, you can customize the installation by using App-V. You can also use AppLocker to prevent users from starting certain Office applications.”
    Can anyone then explain the purpose of the additional product ID’s specified in the following kb article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2842297
    Using the product ID’s listed here, I set the Configuration.xml file to selectively install only four Office products, which included Access, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.  In this example, I removed the Product ID O365ProPlusRetail and instead just included
    the Product ID’s for the individual applications we wanted to install.
    <Configuration>
      <Add OfficeClientEdition="32">
       <Product ID="AccessRetail" >
         <Language ID="en-us" />
       </Product>
       <Product ID="ExcelRetail" >
         <Language ID="en-us" />
       </Product>
       <Product ID="PowerPointRetail" >
         <Language ID="en-us" />
       </Product>
       <Product ID="WordRetail" >
         <Language ID="en-us" />
       </Product>
      </Add>
     <Updates Enabled="TRUE" />
     <Display Level="None" AcceptEULA="TRUE" />
     <Logging Name="OfficeSetup.txt" Path="%temp%" />
    </Configuration>
    Given what I had read throughout multiple areas of documentation, especially the line that mentions, “Click-to-Run is not customizable at the application level,” I was surprised and excited to see that the click to run installer only installed the applications
    that I specified.
    Using the Configuration.xml file I specified above, I was able to complete a custom install of Office 365 ProPlus, and included only programs that I wanted to have installed.
    The issue comes when you go to license the software.  I can launch any of the individual programs without issue, but I am unable to complete the process of activating the license.
    For example, see below where I have launched Word, entered my account information and attempted to activate.  Everything has worked fine up to this point, but I am told that I cannot activate because the product is not installed.  It seems that
    my custom install has prevented needed information from being added to my system to allow for the activation wizard to detect the presence of the installed Office software and to activate appropriately.
    Can anyone from Microsoft comment on this?  Is there any way possible to proceed given my configurations?  If not, what is the purpose of
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2842297 ?
    In what case would you actually be able to use the additional product IDs? (AccessRetail, ExcelRetail, WordRetail, etc.)

    Whilst I don't work for MS, I have a few thoughts on this..
    The documentation refers to the use of ODT for customisation, but that is mainly for customising the install-time aspects and the update sources, not the resultant feature state.
    For controlling feature state, either AppLocker of re-packaging/sequencing via App-V is suggested.
    KB2842297 mentions the products that ODT will "recognise" for the purposes of "customisation", but doesn't really detail how nor why.
    C2R, as it is a pre-packaged sequenced output, is intended to be consumed as-is, by the vast majority.
    Re-packaging/sequencing of a complex product such as Office isn't for the faint of heart (and to be honest, the installers for Office have long been a complex topic over many years)
    MS have stated for many years that the individual component applications of the Office suites, are not permitted to be broken up out of the suite, for license compliance.
    e.g. If you install OfficeProPlus, and via customisation, disable or do-not-install specific component apps, you must hold a license for the relevant suite (ProPlus in this example).
    Even if you re-compose the resultant installed apps, such that only those apps that would equate to OfficeStd, because you installed ProPlus, it is a ProPlus license that you must hold.
    Similarly, if you were to install individual apps, composing a feature-equivalent result to ProPlus, and "functionally" have the same set of apps that ProPlus would give you, holding a license for ProPlus is not sufficient, becuase it is not ProPlus
    that you have installed.
    So, when you modified the configuration XML, and downloaded and installed "WordRetail" + "ExcelRetail" etc, this is not equivalent to ProPlus (neither from an installed-product perspective, nor from a licensing perspective).
    It seems to me, that your license (as recorded/represented in your MS account) is finding that you have products installed for which you don't hold a license.
    And, that the license that you do hold, is not a match for the products you are trying to activate.
    In years gone by, MS did make available individual products (e.g. Word, Excel etc) for sale.
    I don't know if MS continue do make individual apps, in C2R form, available for sale, but the Office product team have created ODT in such a way that ODT can cater for them.
    Perhaps in some global markets, or possibly in the future, MS might make those individual products available in C2R form.
    So I'm not all that surprised, based on nothing more than previous experience (sprinkled with some assumption and theory), that you've found some interesting, slightly-mystifying things ;)

    Does anyone managed to install it via SCCM ?

  • Office 365 + Sharepoint Login page Branding + external user

    Hi,
    I have found, way to branding login page in Office-365 on this link
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn532270.aspx
    Is branding is possible to log-in in office 365 share point  of Organization accounts  and as well as external user also log-in through custom branding log-in page?
     i have required custom branding for office 365 login page for external user??
    please suggest me to full fill my requirement.
    Thanks in advance
    anuj

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you want that external user log-in through custom branding log-in page.
    You don’t need to custom branding for office 365 login page for external user.
    You can custom solution to capture user credentials and pass them to master login page.

    Hi,
    As mentioned the Lync Server is not up-to-date, based on my knowledge this is why the issue occurs.
    Please refer to this article below:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/library/dn954919.aspx
    You can configure the client experience only if you are running Lync Server 2013 with the December 2014 Cumulative Update (5.0.8308.857) or later installed. The latest one is:
    KB 3036869 February 2015 Cumulative Update 5.0.8308.871 for Lync Server 2013 Core Management Server.
    You can specify the client experience the users in your organization will see by using the
    Set-CSClientPolicy cmdlet with the EnableSkypeUI parameter:
    Set-CsClientPolicy -Identity Global -EnableSkypeUI $true
