You do not need Application servers for
Forms. You only need web server. Oracle does not have a web server ( they had one spyglass before) , instead they provide apache web server bundled with a huge baggage called Oracle Application Server

It is always best to start with the documentation. Take a look at the following:
Application Server 10g Release 3 and scroll to the bottom.

There is more to setting up the App Server than just installing the software and starting the server processes. You need to configure the AS for your specific application.

Deploying Developer 6 applications

Hi all,
I am a newbie to Developer and am trying out Developer 6. After
compiling a Form and trying to run it by double clicking on
the .fmx file that has been generated I get a
message "F50run32.exe" file not found. However the Form runs on
using the "ifrun60.exe" file and filling in the name of the .fmx
file.
Could some one tell me why the compiled file is automatically
looking for the f50run32.exe instead of the ifrun60.exe file ?

Ramakrishnan,
I would guess that the PC you are working on used to have
Developer 5 on it. This has obviously associated the .fmx
extension with the Forms 5 runtime. By default, Developer 6 does
not seem to associate extensions. To change this, go to
Explorer, select View|Options and then 'File Types'. Now look
for the file type in question. You can edit its actions to make
them use the correct runtime file.

How to deploy a Flex application (Server Type ColdFusion) to production

I have built a flex application using Flash Builder 4.6. It utilizes ColdFusion Flash Remoting for its data services. When first setting up the data services I had to set a bunch of properties in the flex server section. Which I am not sure are all correct but the app does run and connect to the data services. They were:
Application Server type: ColdFusion
Use remote object access service
     ColdFusion flash remoting
Server Location:
     Deployed to Java application server
     Web Root: v:\inetpub\testFlex
     Root URL: http://myDevServerIP/
     ColdFusion Was folder: v:\CF9\JRun4\servers\testFlex\cfusion.ear\cfusion.war
My question is now when I'm ready to deploy to my production machine and load the app onto a tablet or other computer, obviously the Root URL will be different something like http://myLiveURL.com. Is this the only thing I change? Do I even change it here or is there some other location? Any other things I need to change?

All the paths to CFCs are the same in my live production site. Can you be more specific as to what you mean by "RemoteClass aliases in your AS Classes and CFCs (if any) are correct."? How will the app know that the CFC is on http://myLiveSite.com instead of http://myDevSite.com? The only line of code that I have noticed that points to a URL is the endpoint in a file called _Super_XXX.as. And at the top of that file it says that the file is not meant for editting.
To clarify...I see your app/code all exists on a server access via a web browser so I can understand that everything still works when deployed. Mine is a mobile app so when I am developing and testing on my local computer the URL points to my local development machine. However when I deploy it to a mobile device like a tablet and run the app, it needs to be able to access a cfc on a remote server via a different URL ie. my http://myLiveSite.com/myCFC.cfc instead of http://localhost/myCFC.cfc

Deploying Developer applications on Web

Hi Everyone,
I want to deploy our present Client/Server application
developed using Developer 2000 Rel 2.1 on the
web.We have OAS 4.0 on NT.This is where I am stuck.I cannot
access the properties under the HTTP Listener I have
created.This is where I want to specify the Virtual vs Physical
Directory mapping.By properties I mean when I expand the
Listener node example mytserver:mylistener I see properties such
as Network, Language, Directory etc The machine I am runnning
OAS on has 128 MB RAM.Oracle suggested me to go for 256MB and
reinstall OAS.Is it really neccessary.I am trying to implement
the non-catridge deployment by modifying the static.html. But
since I havent been able to set the properties for the listener
I cannot run the form.I have installed Forms server on the
machine which runs OAS.Can someone help..

My current application is on Oracle 8.0.4 on HP-Unix and
Developer 2000 2.1., Windows NT / 95.
I want to deploy this application on the web.
I am confused as to which Middle tier should I use, Developer
Server, Web DB or Oracle Application Server.
What is the difference between Developer Server, WebDB and Oracle
Application Server?
Whether I will have to redevelop the forms and reports or
I can use the existing ones for the web deployment.
Do I have to learn Java or HTML ?
Can I use WebDB alongwith Oracle Application Server? If yes,
what are the additional benefits of using both?

Hi
The answer for deployning your current application in forms and
reports is,
you don't have to redevelop your application again.
Developer Server allows to deploy existing forms and reports on
to the web.
Developer Server sits on top of Oracle Applicaiton Server (OAS)
and makes use of web listener component in OAS.
The solution is that you would have to get Developer Server.
You really don't need to learn java or HTML to deploy your
existing forms and reports to the web.
Take a look at the Developer server and webdb links on technet,
they have of technical info and other stuff.

Browser based InfoPath form deployed on a Claims based Web Application calling a Secure Web Service via Data Connection

We have a Browser based InfoPath Form deployed on a Claims based Web Application. We are tyring to call WCF Services that are secure using Certificates via the Data Connections on Infopath Form.
Earlier we used to get the Data in BCS External List via the WCF Services and the Data Connections used to get the Data from the BCS External List. Due to Performance Issues, we want to remove the BCS External List and straightaway call the secure WCF Services
via the Data Connections.
Have anyone implemented this scenario.

Hi Ram,
As these are browser based InfoPath forms, you have two options
1) Deploy as sandboxed forms
In this case you have to create a secure store application id and then set the credentials for that account.
You then have to export the data connection to Data connections library and modify the .udcx file to utilize the newly created secure store application id.
This may sometime give issues related to sandboxed code service. You have to give permissions on the secure store for the user account which the sandboxed code service is running.
2) Deploy as administrator approved forms
This would be ideal way of doing things as you have full control over the web request if you write code behind InfoPath forms.
3) Deploy as a Hybrid solution
a) Write a full trust proxy solutions (extend SPProxyOperation class and override execute method) and make the web request call inside this and return the response
b) Invoke above operation from the sandboxed InfoPath form's code behind by SPUtility.RegisteredProxyOperation(four part assembly name, operation args)

Although in theory you can install the client and the application server on one machine so you can be "2 tier" but yes, client/server was desupported back in 6i.

Sure, though, I'd still encourage you to take a look at JPF. :)
If you remove the JPF runtime files from WEB-INF/, WEB-INF/lib, and JPF specific entries in
web.xml, you can start defining a struts-config.xml file against the Struts 1.1 runtime in the
webapp, or you can replace that with a different version as you need. You'll also need to define
the Struts runtime in web.xml including the servlet, taglibraries, etc.
One note, the JPF flow view and other JPF specific editors don't work over a normal
struts-config.xml file.

I hve successfully downloaded and installed personal oracle 8i from the download site and now need to know which is the most appropriate developer 2000 suite so I can run forms . I am a university student and have to do my final year project using oracle to build a data base. Refer the Oracle Press book "PL/SQL programming by Scott Urman" which is really a good one for doing back end database work. To work with Oracle8i database u can install either Developer2000 Forms5 version or Oracle Developer6 or Developer6i. All are compatible. Either u can create forms and install it on client machine or use Developer Server and Reports Server and deploy on the web also. so that is purely depends on what u wanna do. You can download these versions of developer from Oracle site or u can request them a free trial version CD. Good luck

Has anyone ported an existing Developer/2000 client application for MS Win to Linux? Is it possible to produce a Motif-based executable for Linux or is there only one way of porting by making web-based solution?
