Deploying IE10 thru Active Directory

I would like to deploy Internet Explorer 10 with all critical updates to several clients Windows 7 SP1 which have IE8 installed. Already have met with IEAK10 to configure IE10. When finished in the builds folder and subfolders there are made 2 files: IE10-Setup-Full.exe
and a .msi. I have configured IEAK10 so that the installation is not asking questions.
Is it possible to deploy that msi made with IEAK with Active Directory? Configure a gpo with startup user or startup computer so that the msi is deployed to the clients?
In this installation are there any critical updates installed automatically? I have synchronised in IEAK but if thats enough?
What would be the easyest best way to deploy IE10 thru active directory with all critical updates and without user intervention, is that like above?
freddie

Hi,
To deploy IE 10 to all clients, you can use SCCM to deploy IE on computers already running Windows or use MDT to deploy IE 10 as a part of Windows image, if you want to deploy it by GPO, of course you can use Group Policy Software Installation, it's recommended
to use Group Policy to deploy IE for small to medium sized organizations.
Using Software Distribution Tools to Install Internet Explorer 10
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj822329.aspx
Editing Software Settings (Group Policy Software Installation )
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc771306.aspx
And "Synchronize" option in IEAK 10 can synchronize your Internet Explorer 10 files to receive the latest updates on the web.

So as i understand it: configure it with IEAK10 and the msi file created deploy thru software installation gpo is for me the beste way to go?. THe msi containes latest updates when choosing synchronise in IEAK, how can i see if
the msi holds the latest updates?
Putting IE10 in a image is for me the easest way to install ie10 in my virtual master machine. No need to put ie10 in MDT2010 because i can put it right away in a image that is goiing to be sysprepped and deployed..

  • Deploy iTunes Via Active Directory

I would like to publish iTunes as well as Quicktime using Group policies in our Active Directory. This seems to be close to impossible as far as I can tell. Is this possible, or will it be possible in the future? Trying to point to the .MSI fails because it must be called by Setup as far as I can tell.
    Thanks in advance!

    hi Matthew!
hmmmm. MacMuse and Buegie have-been-doing-research/have-some-resources on related issues ... if you don't get an answer here soon, maybe try reposting over in "using itunes?" you get a lot of the SDK hands over there too, so you may well also get some good feedback from random passers-by.

  • Active Directory Sites and Exchange 2013 Deployment

I've recently took over responsibility of an Exchange 2013 Organization that is deployed as follows:
Active Directory consists of 4 Sites. AD Site A, B, C, D  Exchange 2013 Enterprise resides in 2 of the 4 AD Sites as follows:
    AD Site A - ExchangeServer 1 and ExchangeServer 2
    AD Site B - Exchange Server 3
AD Site C - No Exchange Servers
AD Site D - No Exchange Servers
All 4 AD Sites are 4 different Physical locations/datacenters. All 3 Exchange 2013 servers are multi-role servers.
The Forest in which Exchange resides in consists of an empty Root domain, a Production (child) domain and a Test (child) domain. Exchange resides in the Production (child) domain.
Issue: AD Site A contains DC's from all 3 domains: Root Domain, Production child Domain (this is where Exchange lives) and Test child Domain. I notice that Exchange in AD Site A is using DC's from the Root Domain for it's "DefaultGlobalCatalog",
"DefaultConfigurationDomainController" and "DefaultPreferredDomainControllers" This to me does not seem to be very efficient as any Address Book queries will have to be referred to by the Root Domain DC's to the Production child domain
where Exchange lives. All of the AD User accounts and mailboxes are in the Production child domain.
In a situation such as this, would it be advisable to build 2 additional AD sites specifically for Exchange? Rather than re-IP Exchange or risk the impact of moving several other (non exchange) servers to another AD site, I would add the IP address
of the Exchange servers /32 to the new Exchange dedicated AD Sites and erect a DC in these new sites adding its IP address /32. Any thoughts on this idea? If the subnet that exchange resides on is (for example) 10.60.3.0 /16 in AD Site A, and
I build a new AD site for Exchange and add the IP address of the Exchange server such as 10.60.3.141/32 for this new Exchange AD Site boundary, I can still leave the 10.60.3.0 /16 unaffected in AD Site A, correct?
I'm looking for Microsoft's best practices in terms of laying out AD and domain controllers pertaining to Exchange server 2013.

    Hi Anthouyray,
    Thank you for your question.
We could use the following command to exclude domain controller which is root domain controller:
    Set-ExchangeServer –Identity  <exchange servername> -StaticExcludeDomainControllers <root domain controller>
Then we could restart the service of “Microsoft Exchange Active Directory Topology” to check if the issue persist.
If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.
    Best Regard,
    Jim

  • Installation Active Directory

On my LAN I have 2500 PC with JRE 5 Update 6 and 500 PC that rus as a kiosk with java applications (not connect to internet).
I deploy software using active directory GPO with msi pachage .
How can I Instruct new java 6_2 to remove the old pachage 5_6 (what msi properties must be set ??))
What Is the setup properties that disable the java update ? This is important in kiosk.
    Thanks
    Corrado

Installation is outside the domain of java itself.
Thus controlling installation depends on what you are installing with, like msi. So for solutions to that you must look to msi, not java.
I believe the license agreement for java specifically requires updates. You should read it.
If I am correct then you can not disable it withoug specific permission from Sun. At the same time you get that permission you should ask them how to disable it.
Note that turning off means that your kiosk certainly shouldn't have general access to the internet. And you had better be very careful about what access is allowed at all.

  • How to deploy EUS  using OVD with existing active directory ?

    Hi,
I am new in Oracle FMW and want to explore more into it,
I have existing MS active directory with users and group policies defined there  and I need to implement the solution for  all users  to authenticate in oracle Database (11gR2) via AD.
and after searching reading some docs I came to know that It can be done by  "EUS deployment using AD and OVD".
Now I am bit confused for where to start Please guide me . My env is as follows
I have existing MS AD server (win2003) and oracle Database 11gR2 on HP unix..So Do I need another server (Win2003/2008) to install OVD or can I install OVD on existing AD server.
What exactly software required to install OVD as I have downloded software from e delivery site "Oracle Identity and Access Management 11g (11.1.1.7.0)"
Is it same or do i need to download other one?

  • Query related to UPN Suffix in Hierarchical domain architecture in Active Directory deployment

This is regarding a query related to UPN Suffix in Hierarchical domain architecture in Active Directory deployment.
We use LDAP query (filter uPNSuffixes=* for the parent domain DN) to retrieve the upn suffixes configured in the AD Domain. This returns the UpnSuffixes configured for the entire domain tree ( upnsuffixes of parent domain and all the child domains) in the
hierarchy. The AD Domains and Trusts configuration lists all the upnsuffixes as part of the dnsroot domain.
For one of our implementation, we need to distinguish between the UPNsuffixes belonging to the parent and child domain and map the UPN suffixes with the respective domain in the hierarchy. As the upnsuffixes are stored as part of the root domain in the AD
domains and trusts configuration, it was not clear how to retrieve the information specific to each domain in the hierarchy.
It would be helpful if you could provide pointers on how to obtain the above mapping for the upn suffixes in a hierarchical domain setup.
    Thank you,
    Durgesh

By default, you can use only the domain name as UPN suffix for user accounts you create within the domain. It is possible to add extra UPN suffixes but these are added at the forest level and not specific to a domain.

  • Active Directory cross forest trust which are deployed in separate subscription

    Hi All,
I know that this is not Azure forum, but I have a question related to Active Directory, Appreciate your understanding and letting me know your concerns about AD cross forest between two subscriptions of Azure.
We have two separate subscriptions of Windows Azure under one Global Account, previously these two subscriptions are treated as a separate company and they are having separate forest and separate domain, these two companies does not have any site to
site VPN with each other over the wan, but these two companies are having site to site connection with Azure for their own subscription respectively.
Additional domain controller for both subscriptions are deployed in Azure in order to authenticate those servers which are already deployed in Azure
Due to some reasons these companies are merging together and due to some reasons they want to have cross forest trusts between these two companies. As we do not have any WAN connection between these two companies the questions has been raised that can we
do a cross forest trust between two Active Directories because these two are deployed in Azure and both companies active directories are deployed in Azure.
Can we achieve this and how we can achieve this, I know that we can expose servers in Azure over the internet by creating endpoints and allow ACL in order to get connection from specific public IPs.
My question is can we achieve this, does it supported from Microsoft. if yes then is there any thing we have to consider before deploying it.
    Thanks

No, i am not using Windows Azure Active Directory at all, i have deployed additional domain controllers from each forest on each subscription.
For example in subscription 1 we have additional domain controller of forest 1 and in subscription 2 we have additional domain controller of forest 2.

  • Wireless Deployment with Active Directory User Group Integration

I am trying to find out the best practice in deploying a WLAN for users in the cooperate environment, which uses their company active directory integrated laptops to join to the WLAN.
I know this can be done using certificates easily but I want to just find a way to deploy this without certificates and only based on the AD user group. Maybe a Radius server + LDAP server integration solution would be great.
    Please advice. Thanks.

The easiest way to deply this is with a Microsoft toolkit, it has everything you need included, manuals, scripts to install and configure server-side components and it's very easy to use. You can get it from here:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=60c5d0a1-9820-480e-aa38-63485eca8b9b&displaylang=en
It's based on Win2003 server but I've been advised by MS that it should be OK on Win2008 as well.

  • Store signature image in Active Directory and deploy it to each users desktop

What I am trying to achieve is to have each user a hand written signature scanned in and stored in the .jpgPhoto attribute in Active Directory and then have some sort of script, like our login script, pull that information and copy the file to the users
desktop.  We are wanting to be able to allow users to apply the signature image on a signature line in Office 2010 or InfoPath forms instead of typing their name.    I know there has to be a way to do this but I have not found it yet and I am
not very good at scripting.  Is there anyone here that has accomplished such a task and if so, how did you go about doing it?
    David Hood

We already have Outlook email signatures created from AD information deployed to all users.  Someone else on my team deployed that already and it works great.  But that is just basic user info pulled from fields that were manually entered in
the user account.  What I want to do is have a user scribble their signature on a piece of paper or a tablet, capture an image of that to crop and resize to store in the AD user account or somewhere secure that can be queried to be pushed to that users
desktop.  I work at a state government agency and I have heard of another agency doing this but I have no idea how they did it.  The only thing I could think of is to have a script ran during login to query the AD attribute the image is stored in,
pull it and then copy it to the users machine so when they sign a word document or .PDF with a digital signature they also have the option to place that image in the signature line.

  • Java Deployment for Active Directory

We are wanting to install the Java 7 update 11 on our users pcs. However we are looking for an .msi file to use to install via Active Directory. I found a few links that suggested I install the update manually on a pc and then look in the Application Data directory for the file. So far we have been successful in manually installing on a couple pcs but none of them have the msi file that we need to setup the Group Policy.
Any help in locating an msi for this version of JRE would be greatly appreciated.

I want to make sure I'm striking the proper tone here so I'll start off by saying I'm not here to start or otherwise instigate an argument or anything like that.
For starters, yes, I'm aware of the aforementioned page. (thanks for linking btw!) User 981566 [above] essentially paraphrased the instructions on that page. And yes, the instructions work in getting one access to an MSI. But none of that was ever in question.
I never said "its impossible to find an MSI - they just don't exist. Oracle uses magic!" The 'spirit', if you will, of my post was more of an expression frustration; a way of venting & asking (rhetorically really):
    - Why isn't there simply an option to download an MSI [from the java website]?
    - Why must one have to jump through a hoop or two just to get an MSI?
Suffice it to say that we'll probably never know why they do it this way, unless someone [in the know] at Oracle chooses to provide an answer/explanation. We're not in a 'work stoppage' situation, a solution exists to get Java deployed via MSI among other methods so we (as IT admins, engineers) can move on with deployment & other assignments and not get hung up on this.
Because it is difficult to manage installations for X platforms where each computer is a unique entity that is likely contaminated and damaged by its user(s).Whoa, seriously? I'm not saying 'it doesn't hold water', but I don't think it holds much. Consider:
    - Oracle is a multi-billion dollar, multinational enterprise organization that architects solutions that scale up to the enterprise level, not some small 'mom & pop' shop operating out of a garage. If Adobe (a lesser, multi-million dollar organization) can put out MSI's for Acrobat Reader & two MSI's for Flash (one MSI for ActiveX & one MSI for plug-in based browsers) "for X platforms where each computer is a unique entity", there's no reason Oracle can't either.
    - The fact that the Java package still uses the MSI as part of the install suggests/indicates the exe is just a wrapper. (Why else would the MSI be there? Why else would the exe accept MSI command line parameters?)
    - No one can, or more to the point is going to, build a package that can account for all the possible ways a system has been "contaminated and damaged by its user(s)." And I don't expect anyone to.
I think its safe to say we've successfully detracted from the OP's original question! If you want to continue down this rabbit hole of speculation & healthy debate, lets start a new thread & not hijack this one.

  • ThinkVantage Technology Deployment using Active Directory

I am attempting to automate the deployment of Rescue and Recovery using Active Directory for about 50 laptops. So far, I've read through all of the Lenovo documentation for RnR deployments, none of which is useful. The deployment guide has broken links, the section "Corporate Active Directory Rollout" is incomplete, the command line options aren't clearly written, and the AD instructions end with 'then deply settings using a registry edit'.
My goal is to configure the laptops to automatically backup to a network share once a week, in the background, without any user intervention. So far, almost everything that I've tried in my test environment has led to failure.
First step, install the software. I can't deploy via Group Policy, as the installation doesn't seem to end up working. I did the administrative install to a network location, then published the program via AD. After the reboot, I'll click the RnR shortcut in the start menu, and nothing happens. I've also tried creating a batch file that runs rrcmd.exe to create a backup, but that fails too "Service not found". So I resort to installing manually.
Next, I try to configure the network location via Group Policy and the supplied ADM file. I set the destination path for MND to \\server\%computername%\, but that fails, as MND tries to connect to a share called %computername% instead of what the system variable says. To get around this, I had to create an MND batch file that edits the MND info right before the backup, which doesn't seem to always work.
Now, if mid-backup the user disconnects from the network, there is a series of Delayed Write errors. That's not acceptable.
Also, if I set the backup location to local via GP, then change it to network, the backup command still reads "L", even after a reinstall of the software with the "local" location set to 0 in group policy.
Are there any tips to help ease this deployment?
    Thank You

I think I figured it out! You can do exactly what I was doing.
The solution seemed to be I was missing:
    orcluserprincipalname=<ADUser>@<domain>
    orclsamaccountname=<name>
    objectclass=orclADUser
You need at least the first and third one in order for it to work ( adding them is another story - you are on your own for that :-) ).
FYI I found this in the document that I have been using all day (but I didn't pay close enough attention as I missed that part) Doc ID: Note:277382.1
which can be found on metalink.
