Deploying reader via Imaging
Hi, My company is currently seeking FAST accreditation, and I have been told that we cannot install Adobe reader on our base line PCs to create images for desktop deployment. I have gone through the Reader License and cannot see anything specific, although there are indications at 2.1 that one copy of the software cannot be shared, does this mean that one downloaded installer cannot be used in an image and deployed to all new desktop PC's and I will have to install reader manually every PC in the company??
>does this mean that one downloaded installer cannot be used in an image and deployed to all new desktop PC's and I will have to install reader manually every PC in the company??
No, it doesn't mean that. But you do have to follow the guidelines for Reader distribution http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/distribute.html

Deploy reader updates and install/uninstall reader via GPO ???
Hello,
Got a couple of questions on install/uninstall via GPO and how to deploy reader updates.
1) How to uninstall older version of readers via GPO?
2) Is there an ADM file available for installing the latest reader via GPO?
3) For reader patch updates, can it be deployed via GPO? If yes, any docs. I can refer to? If no, what is the minimum priviledge I must grant to domain users to allow them to run the update function w/in the reader (or assign to a specific file path)?
Thanks in advance!

ibook stopped transferring images via image capture. last month it worked. i hav an old ibook and i cannot update to newest itunes. which is fine. however, i need the image capture to take photos off my iphone 5. no, i dont want to use i cloud. i would actually like to just plug it in to the usb drive the old fashioned way
I don't believe the iOS7 update was the cause for your issue. I have three devices all updated and they all show the Import To drop menu in Image Capture as shown below.

Hello,
I've got an organisation (about 100 PC's/Laptop) that has multiple versions of the Reader software, going back to 8.1.0. I'd like to get everybody up to the same version, but the quantity (and geographic locations) of machines means that's all I'd do. I've recently started using GPO to install some software, so my questions are:
Is it possible to install Reader via GPO.
If it is possible do the users need administrative privileges to the machine or can the they be normal users?
Thanks in advance
TonySee this document for some information on Adobe Reader deployment: http://www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/reader/pdfs/deploying_reader9.pdf (sorry, I don't know if there is a new document specific for Adobe Reader X).
Also, you can download MSI installers

Deployment of Slipstream Image
Hey Guys,
Trying to deploy an SOE image out that will intergrate certain ThinkVantage programs (Active Protection, Mobility Center etc)
I'm having some issues trying to rehide the Lenovo Recovery Partitions, both of them.
This SOE image will also intergrate other programs such as our Anti Virus solution, and Office 03.
I need a hand hiding the recovery partition like it should be.
A hand on that would be great
Cheers
PS.
Deployment will be taking place with Vista Business x32, on T500 MT: 8082 systems.

How to read an image in portal component (EAR application) - in CE 7.1
Hi All,
In earlier versions of portal before CE 7.1, we were using the below code for reading an image from the component folder.
But in this CE 7.1 portal component ( we deploy as ear application) the reading an image from folder for the method was showing as deprecared. please let me know the right code to read an image from folder in portal component.
componentRequest.getWebResourcePath()+ - > which is deprecated in CE 7.1, but was working fine in earlier versions of CE 7.1.
Please let me know the right method to read an image in CE 7.1 portal component (ear application)
Thanks,
Portaluser100Hi,
You still can use the same method (It works in Portal 7.3 system)
<%
String path = componentRequest.getWebResourcePath();
%>
Alternatively , a new method, you can refer to your images directly with your project name
For example, if your project name is "com.yourcompany.customapp" then you can use the following statement:
img src="/com.yourcompany.customapp/images/....."

Deploying Contribute via Group Policy
I've been trying to deploy contribute via MS Win 2003 Group
Policy, but have had no luck. Has anyone been able to successfully
push out the software, if so, did you utilize the Software Install
or did you use a script? How did you deal with the input of the
Contribute serial number? Optimally, we'd like to generate a silent
install, but again, have had very little luck and there is very
little information available.
Any help is appreciated.Someone in another post pointed me to this document.
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=a4175402
The only downside is that you need to set a batch to copy your
ContributeConfiguration items to the install folder. I think Adobe
could do a better job on the deployment side. -
How to Read the Image in SQL server
I want to read the image from SQL server using labview.In our project languages used are JAVA and Labview
Through java we acquiring the image and write in to SQL Server.
Through Labview I want to read the image form SQL server and i will do some image processing for my application.
My problem when I seen the database the images shown like hex decimal value.
I want to convert the hexadecimal value to image or any other functions is there to directly read the image from SQL server.
Can anybody help me....two options:
1. save the image data itself (as a blob)
2. save the image in a file system and save the file name in the DB -
I am currently running CS3, windows XP, service pack 2, with recent update, 5.03 installed today.
I just opened a 500 page document not in sections where 90% of the document is a placed PDF.
The PDFS were placed using a sample Script that came with Indesign, that instructs the PDF to automatically flow each page after another.
When scrolling through quickly in the pages pallette, I get the follwing error:-
"Error encountered while reading TIFF image, Image may be damaged of incompatible. Resave the image with different settings and try again."
I click OK.
Then I get the following error.....
" Could not complete request because of database error. The File "ABC.indd" is damaged (Error Code: 3).
Click OK....
Then I get the following error....
Adobe Indesign is shutting down. A serious error was detected. Please restart Indesign to recover work in any unsaved Indesign documents.
Then I get the error.......
Indesign.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for any inconveneince.
And I have two buttons to click....
Debug or Close.....
If I click Debug, it closes Indesign.
Within this window there is also a window to gather further information....I click it and it tells me...
"Indesign.exe....Error Signature AppName: indesign.exe AppVer: 5.0.3.662
ModName: public.dll ModVer: 5.0.3.662 Offset: 0002e19a"
To view technical inforamtion about the error report, clikc here....
"Then it creates an error report and tells me where the report is located along with a scrollable window of 0xc0000005 and heap of zeros."
The report conatains a whole heap of CHECKSUM ERRORS.
CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP??
I had these errors before updating to 5.03 and the patch hasn't rectified anything!!Open the .inx file in CS3 (that's what you have, right?) and save as a new .indd.
I'd also be tempted to open the tiff in Photoshop and do a save as to re-write it.
Let us know if it helps.
Storing files on the network leaves you more open tot he risk of file damage during transfer and save operations.

System.out.println("Enter the secret msg :: ");
msg=br.readLine();
byte[] msg1=msg.getBytes();
len=msg1.length;
System.out.println(len);
for(i=0;i<len;i++)
System.out.println(msg1);
try
do
byte by=(byte)fin.read();
//System.out.print(" "+by);
if(fin.available()>0)
fout.write(by);
}while(fin.available()>0);
catch(Exception e)
System.out.println("File error");

Reading a image file and printing it by a Servlet
In a IMAGE TAG of HTML file i am calling servlets what will write a image to the browser.
<IMG SRC="http://localhost/WriteImage" width="50" height="100">
The Servlet WriteImage has to read a image from a location(it could be gif,jpeg,png or another format of images ) and it has to write to the above image tag.
Anyone can u help me out how i can do this...
I tried out with javax.imageio package but couldn't get it.
Thank Q
VijayYour WriteImage servlet needs to read the image file in from wherever it is (hard drive, database, whatever), then write it back out to the browser. To do that, first use the HTTPServletResponse object to send the appropriate headers, then call the getOutputStream() method to get an output stream to write the data to. This data will be sent to the browser which, if you've set the headers correctly, will display it as an image.
It's been a long time since I did this (we abandoned storing images in databases quite a long time ago), so I can't be more specific than that, but hopefully that'll be enough to get you going. If you run into any problems, reply and I'll see if I can help further. -

StefanoHello,
The Decode SDK is available from lizardtech now:
http://developer.lizardtech.com/
the only problem is it is written in C++. I'm willing to pay someone $300 US to port it to Java or at least make a jni port. So I could use java commands like:
MrSidFile mrsid = new MrSidFile("c:\test.sid");
mrsid.setView(330, 223, 5003, 4890);
mrsid.drawView(graphics2d, 0, 0, render.width, render.height);Thanks,

Talking to Internet Explorer embedded Acrobat Reader via COM
Hi all. I'm developing an Internet Explorer BHO (browser plugin) and was wondering whether it's possibly for me to communicate with Acrobat Reader via COM. I have read through the SDK docs and it's not clear whether this is possible. I'm using unmanaged c++.
I think if this can be done I think I will need to call get_document(IDispatch *p) on the webbrowser control, then using p->QueryInterface(...) to gain access to the Acrobat document. However, to do this I will need to pass in a REFIID to QueryInterface. As such I need to find some documentation on the supported COM interfaces and various IDs I will need to use.
If anyone could point me in the right direction, that would be great.
thanks,
Zoltan!Thanks for your reply. We are writing a web annotation tool as an Internet Explorer plugin. The web annotation part of it is complete, and now we are looking at being able to make annotations on pdf documents loaded within the browser.
Where can I find information about the limited APIs on the ActiveX control you mentioned? Do you think we should be looking at a different approach?
thanks,
Zoltan
