Deploying war file with different web access address

On my current OC4J server, I have an container and is accessed by https://www.abc.com where abc is the application name. The hostname is different from the application name i.e. host_name and not abc as in the application access address.
I want to create one more contaner and have the users access this by https://www.abc.com/xyz.
How do I g about this?
Dp I need to create a virtual web site in the httpd.conf ?
Please let me know. Appreciate your help.

Applications that you build with JDeveloper 11g are normally aimed at WebLogic 10.3 servers.
They require Java EE 1.5 and JDK 6.

  • Deploying war files on iplanet web server 6.0

    Hello All,
    I tried to deploy an war file on iplanet web server 6.0 using both command line wdeploy and iplanet webserver browser based admin tool. Both the times it did say successfully deployed. I checked the WEB-INF files and it does contain all class files..But the problem is when I try to post a form to one of the class files the error log says as if it cannot find the class file.(I tried the sample app HelloWorld supplied by vendor)

    Hello,
    I got few steps to deploy the WAR file, if you followed the same steps and got the error then ignore this else try with this steps.
    a) Set your environment variable IWS_SERVER_HOME to your server_root directory.
    b) Add the server_root/bin/https/httpsadmin/bin directory to your classpath.
    c) Configure your virtual server for web applications.
    From the Server Manager page, select the VirtualServerClass tab, select a Class, and click the Manage button.
    Select a Virtual Server and go to the Java Web Apps Settings page for that virtual server. Make sure that the virtual server has Web Apps State turned On, and web-apps.xml is the name of Web Apps File.
    To extract the sample WAR file HelloWorld.war in server_root/plugins/servlets/examples/web-apps/HelloWorld, use the wdeploy command as follows:
    wdeploy deploy -u /hello -i server.iplanet.com -v testvs -d
    /iws60/https-server.mydomain.com/testvs/web-apps/hello
    /iws60/plugins/servlets/examples/web-apps/HelloWorld/HelloWorld.war
    The syntax for the command is as follows:
    wdeploy deploy -u uri_path -i instance -v vs_id [-d directory] war_file
    uri_path Specify the URI prefix (a path to access the web application from the browser).
    instance Specify the server instance name. (Note: Do not include "https" in the front.)
    vs_id Specify the Virtual Server name as it appears on the Manage Virtual Servers page.
    directory Specify a directory to extract WAR files. If this directory doesn't exist already, it will be created for you now.
    war_file Specify the name of the WAR file.
    If the WAR file is extracted successfully, the message "web application deploy successful" appears at the command line.
    For verification, go to the /iws60/https-server.iplanet.com/testvs/web-apps/hello directory. It should have the following contents:
    colors
    index.jsp
    META-INF
    WEB-INF/
    web.xml
    /classes/
    HelloWorldServlet.class
    HelloWorldServlet.java
    SnoopServlet.class
    SnoopServlet.java
    In the server_instance/config directory, the web-apps.xml file should have the following entry:
    <vs>
    <web-app uri="/hello"
    dir="/iws60/https-server.iplanet.com/testvs/web-apps/hello"/>
    </vs>
    Restart the server instance from the command line or go to the admin GUI and apply configuration changes to the server instance.
    Now when you access the webserver instance in your browser, the Error log of that server instance will record successful initialization of the web application environment(web-apps.xml) for the virtual server(vs name). You can access the web application from a browser as follows:
    http://server.Mydomain.com:80/hello/index.jsp
    or:
    http://server.Mydomain.com/hello/
    The syntax is as follows:
    http://vs_urlhost[:vs_port]/uri_path/[index_page]
    Thanks

  • How to deploy ear file with jar file and war file with different names

    Hi,
    As part of weblogic migration from WL 6.1 sp3 to WL 10, Iam facing some problem.
    Problem:
    I have one ear file(abc.ear) to deploy which contains one jar file(xyz.jar) and one war file(pqr.war).
    In config.xml file of WL 6.1, it was mentioned as :
    <Application Deployed="true" Name="abc" Path="./config/mydomain/applications/abc.ear">
    <EJBComponent Name="xyz" Targets="myserver" URI="xyz.jar"/>
    <WebAppComponent Name="pqr" Targets="myserver" URI="pqr.war"/>
    </Application>.
    The above is working fine.
    But in config.xml file WL10,I cannot mention the same.
    I need to have different application anmes for ear,jar and war.If I deploy as a ear file,the jar and war files are deployed with the same ear file name.
    I tried the following options:
    1) Deploying as a ear file by adding <sub-deployments>
    2) Deploying both war and jar seperately which is not recommended in my application.
    Please provide the content I should place in the config.xml so that everything works fine correctly.
    Any help is appreciated.

    Hi,
    1] Remove following from server.xml
    <Context path="/SEA" docBase="SEA" debug="0"/>
    2] Paste SEA.WAR (test WAR file) into /webapps of TOMCAT
    3] Start Tomcat Server - This will create SEA folder under webapps
    4] Stop server.
    5] Add following to server.xml
    <Context path="/SEA" docBase="SEA" debug="0"/>
    6] Start Tomcat Server
    7] Access the URL.
    This will work. Somehow Tomcat does not extract war file contents which are mentioned in server.xml.
    I have Apache Tomcat 4.0.3 and faced this problem. The above solution works for it.
    Regards,
    Sandesh
    hi.
    I have put my SEA.WAR (test WAR file) into /webapps of
    TOMCAT.
    I checked the server.xml and put:
         <Context path="/SEA" docBase="SEA" debug="0"/>
    I restarted TOMCAT and tried to execute the file:
         http://localhost:8080/SEA/index.jsp
    But I got error message:
    Apache Tomcat/4.0.3 - HTTP Status 404 -
    /SEA/index.jsp
    What was happenning?
    Anyone can help me?
    Thank you.

  • Error message when deploying war file to sun web server 6.1

    i've been trying to deploy an application developed locally in tomcat to a local install of sun web server 6.1, and can't seem to get it to work. the error message i am getting now is:
    [05/Dec/2008:12:44:08] config ( 1640): for host xxx.xxx.xxx.xx trying to GET /cart/index.jsp, handle-processed reports: HTTP2205: The request method is not applicable to the requested resource.
    but that is the only error showing up. i've found some other forum topics involving memory issues (not the case here) and mime.type issues (not the case here), but nothing where this is the only error message showing up.
    any ideas? anyone?

    I deployed the application using a WAR file I created and the Server Manager.
    I've been able to get a JSP running in the $INSTALL_DIR/docs directory (database connectivity, result set printing, session data storing) but not outside of there.
    I switched to "finest" error reporting, but that isn't really helping much either.
    I even deployed one of the sample WAR files that came with the installation (webapps-simple.war), and it failed too, the error message I got was:

  • How to deploy .war file with Spring 2.5/Hibernate 3 into WebLogic 10.3.6

    Hey everyone,
    I tried to deploy a .war file, which is written in Spring 2.5/Hibernate 3/J2EE 1.4, into WebLogic 10.3.6. Failed.
    following are steps I did:
    install the war file via Install Application Assistant of webLogic console
    1. select .war file
    2. select Install this deployment as an application
    3. select a Server (WLS_easement)
    4. follow default steps
    5 ...
    6. click Finish button
    7. go back to Deployments, State of the .war is Distribute Initializing
    8. click Active Changes button.
    9. state is changed to Prepared
    10. select the Deployment, select Start -> Servicing all requests
    11. got Failed state
    12, then I check WLS_easement.out
    ...org.springframework.web.context.ContextLoaderListener failed: org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name 'springSessionFactory' defined in ServletContext resource [/WEB-INF/applicationContext.xml]: Instantiation of bean failed...
    13. in /WEB-INF/applicationContext.xml,
    <bean id="springSessionFactory"
      class="org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.LocalSessionFactoryBean">
      <property name="configLocation">
       <value>classpath:hibernate.cfg.xml</value>
      </property>
    </bean>
    so looks like WebLogic has trouble to connect Hibernate 3? is there specific .jar required?
    Can somebody shed a light on this or any input you may have?
    Thanks in advance,
    Feng

    Please attach the error log to this thread
    Also did you package hibernate libraries within the application?  or added to classpath explicitly for server classloader to load it?
    Please check and revert back.
    Thanks,

  • Deploying war files with JBuilder 5 to Tomcat 4

    Hi,
    I'm developing a webapp in JBuilder 5. When I copy my war file to tomcat 3.2 webapps directory and start tomcat it works just fine, but when I copy my war file to the webapps directory in tomcat 4 I have the following error when I start tomcat 4:
    ERROR reading java.io.ByteArrayInputStream@33f8f6
    At Line 15 /web-app/servlet/
    All the examples in Tomcat 4 works just fine, and if I create a war file from the command prompt it also works, but the war file generated with JBuilder 5 doesn't work.
    does this sound familiar?
    please help

    Hi Lilja,
    ran into this myself, and had to do a full web search to find the answer.
    JBuilder5 will let you change the Tomcat version a certain project uses, but it won't necessarily like it.
    Creating a new project with Tomcat 4 as the default server, and then putting your existing files into it seems to work.
    Dodgy, I know, but blame Borland. ;-)

  • How to deploy war file in different directory?

    I know one simple way to do deploy a war file is to dump it in webapps directory without a need a set server.xml. However, doing so will also inflate the war file in the webapps directory, which is not what I want.
    I want to be able to drop the war file in the Tomcat webapps directory, but automatically gets inflated in my project specific directory (say C:\projectName).
    How do I do that? Thanks.

    you should have a console option to do that so...
    For example in WEBLOGIC you can get it through
    http://localhost:7001/console
    here you can do it you will come to know just by seeing that..
    Similarly i think there will be a chance for others also.

    Usually restarting Tomcat will help. Do the Tomcat logs have anything of interest?

  • Customizing AM Images & Facing Problem in Update & Deploy War files

    Hey Guys!
    This is Yash Bansal from Gurgaon, India. i am new to access manager. i am now customizing it and facing problem in customizing.
    I have customized images which is present in directory path:
    opt/SUNWam/web-src/services/images/
    and updated services.war file which is present in directory path:
    opt/SUNWam/war/
    with command
    jar -uvf services.war /opt/SUNWam/web-src/services/images/login-backimage.jpg
    then deployed configuration from the web server 7.0 admin console.
    after that when i open the url
    http://<hostname>/amserver/console
    then Page Not Found error comes in the browser.
    Just wanted to ask you guys am i doing the steps right. please help if someone know how to update and deploy war file on Sun Web server 7.0.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Yash Bansal

    Hi!
    Deploying the configuration does not (re)deploy the application. Webserver stores a copy of the deployed application and all configurations in the admin instance. When you change anything in the webserver console it is first written there and only applied to the productive instance when you deploy configuration.
    When you add images, jsps or something else to /opt/SUNWam/... and want it redeployed you have to use amconfig command. in /opt/SUNWam/bin there is a file called amsamplesilent. You have to fill the values in this file and then use
    ./amconfig -s amsamplesilent
    I believe for a redeploy you have to set DEPLOY_LEVEL to 21, not sure here, check documentation.
    I personally usually do not redeploy for images and such, I simply copy them directly the deployed location.
    Why http://.../amserver/console does not work anymore, I have no idea. But at least after a redeploy it should be there again.

  • Deploying WAR files under a single virtual-host

    I wonder why when you deploy war files with the ASADMIN tool and tell it to run them under one virtual server with the --virtual-servers option it deploy's them under all the virtual servers you have defined on the AS?.. why is that?
    Chris.

    Hi, Chris
    I will assume you are using the J2EE SDK1.4 FCS bundle.
    I've tried this myself on solaris machine today, and seems working fine for me.
    1. I created a virtual server called server2 and created new http-listener-3 which listens at port 8081.
    2. Then I used this command to deploy:
    <J2EE_HOME>/bin/asadmin deploy --virtualservers server2 foo.war
    From the server log, it shows this war is only loaded under virtual server "server2" and not the others.
    And if I use my browser to point to
    http://localhost:8080/foo (which is where the virtual server "server" listens)
    I got a HTTP 404 which is expected.
    And I point my browser to
    http://localhost:8081/foo (which is where the virtual server "server2" listens)
    I can access the web app and it runs fine.
    If you still see problems, please provide the exact steps you tried so we can try to reproduce it.
    Thanks,
    - Hong

  • [b]problem with deploy .war file

    Hi
    I am trying to deploy a war file. I have Oracle 9iAS (release 2) in Sun Solaris server.
    I am using the enterprise manager gui to try to deploy a .war file as follows.
    My .war file has the structure: folder META-INF, folder WEB-INF, and other folders. THe folder
    WEB-INF has the file web.xml and the folder classes.
    I connect to enterprise manager at port 1810 and go to the OC4J home page and under
    deployed applications, I choose under applications "Deploy WAR file". It takes me to the next page
    where I enter the war file (pippo.war)
    Application Name: pippo
    Map to URL: /pippo
    THe only choice I have then is to click the Deploy button. I then get the response
    "Failed to deploy web application "pippo". Jar file: /var/tmp/jar29056.tmp is missing its standard xml descriptor located at WEB-INF/web.xml"
    In that path there is not that file, there are 2 folders, one with the file .war and one with the file .ear
    I have no idea what this error message means.
    The documentation for deploying servlets in 9ias using enterprise manager makes no mention of this.
    Thanks,
    Marcella

    Marcella,
    Are you using Oracle9iAS 9.0.3 ?
    Does this happen with any war file ?
    Are you able to deploy a ear file without problems ?
    Can you please test if you can deploy your war in a
    OC4J standalone environment ? steps from the general faq available at http://otn.oracle.com/tech/java/oc4j
    How can I deploy a WAR file to OC4J standalone ?
    The command line deployment tool (admin.jar) requires an EAR file as it's deployment archive. To deploy a WAR file using this, you must package the WAR file within a EAR file.
    You can manually deploy a WAR file to OC4J However following are the steps involved in deploying a WAR file in OC4J.
    1. Copy the file to D:\oc4j\j2ee\home\applications where d:\oc4j is the location OC4J is installed in.
    copy mywar.war D:\oc4j\j2ee\home\applications
    2. Open the application.xml file in D:\oc4j\j2ee\home\config directory
    and add the following after the <web-module id="defaultWebApp" path="../default-web-app" />
    line:
    <web-module id="mywar" path="../applications/mywar.war" />
    3. Open the default-web-site.xml file in D:\oc4j\j2ee\home\config directory and add the following after the <default-web-app application="default" name="defaultWebApp" /> line:
    <web-app application="default" name="mywar" root="/mywar" />
    In Oracle9iAS Release 2; deployment of applications is done either using EM or via the DCM commands.
    thanks,
    -Prasad

  • Deploying WAR file using IAS Test Drive edition...

    Hi:
    Is it okay to deploy a build using a WAR file instead of an EAR file? Is
    there any documentation for deploying WAR files? All the available docs and
    examples start with EAR files.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    A war file is okay if you are using servlets & JSP, WAR means Web Archive.
    So you can very well go ahead with a war file, incase you are thinking of EJB's
    then a .ear file will help you.

  • Images and js files within a deployed war file are generating 404 errors.

    Greetings,
    I have an odd situation in that image files and js files that are part of a deployed war file are generating 404 (not found) errors when accessed via https but ARE found when accessed via http.
    Unfortunately we are required to use https.
    I have verified via jar -tf that the files are indeed part of the war file. So, it is not that they are missing as is evident when accessed via http. (they appear as expected)
    A work around is to create the sub directories under the document root, on the ohs, and populate the sub directories with the images and js files that were used as part of the war file build. While this works, it doesn't explain why they would generate a 404 error when referenced from within the war via https.
    The war file works correctly on our 10g installation.
    I also have a very simple deployed war file and it too seems to have an issue finding direcotries/files that are part of the war file when referenced via https but not http.
    We are using Oracle 11g OHS and using the WLS Admin Console to do the deploying. We also are using the OSSO for the performing the required authentication.
    I have an SR in with oracle and have been working with them but I thought I would post here too.
    Suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.
