  • How Do You Deploy a War File to The OC4J Standalone ?

I have a .war file that contains example code and I would like to deploy it to my OC4J Standalone.
I tried putting the war file in the applications directory and adding a line in the server.xml file but I received the error:
Error instantiating application at file:/C:/OC4JStandAlone/pdk101202_oc4j_extended/j2ee/home/applications/displaytag-examples-1.1.war: Unable to find/read assembly info for C:\OC4JStandAlone\pdk101202_oc4j_extended\j2ee\home\applications\displaytag-examples-1.1 (META-INF/application.xml)
It appears it was expecting an .ear file instead of a .war file
Is there an easy way to deploy a .war file to the OC4J Standalone?
    Thanks,

Please refer to the OC4J FAQ on :-
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/java/oc4j/1012/collateral/OC4J-FAQ-101202.pdf
Q 24 should have your answer.

  • Seems fail on deploying mapviewer on oc4j standalone

    Hi,
I downloaded MapViewer 10.1.3.3 kit from Oracle website and try to deploy mapviewer.ear with oc4j standalone (10.1.3.1.0).
I deployed mapviewer.ear with the oc4j. But, I got HTTP 500 Internal Server Error when I go to the following address.
    http://machine_name:8888/mapviewer/omserver?getv=t
If I sucessfully deploy it, it should display the version and build number. Obviously, http://machine_name:8888/mapviewer did not work.
I thought that I deployed it according to User's Guide for Oracle MapViewer. From oc4jadmin screen, the mapviewer status is running.
Would you kindly advise me what other things I need to do?

    The issue was port number.
I used oc4j which comes with OBI EE. The oc4j port# is 9704.
When I switched the port# to 9704, it displayed the build and version number.
    http://localhost:9704/mapviewer/omserver?getv=t
    Thanks

  • Import not found when deploying to Standalone OC4J

    Hi,
I'm developing a small application, consisting of a few classes and a few jsp pages. I'm using JDeveloper 9.0.3.1 with the sun j2sdk 1.4.2 for windows.
I test my application with the embedded OC4J in Jdeveloper, and it runs fine. But when I deploy it to the standalone OC4J, I get this error:
    500 Internal Server Error
    OracleJSP: oracle.jsp.provider.JspCompileException:
    Errores de compilación:F:\programas\Oracle\jdeveloper\j2ee\home\application-deployments\Workspace4-WSWrappers-WS\WebServices\persistence\_pages\\_integrate2.java
    Note: sun.tools.javac.Main has been deprecated.
F:\programas\Oracle\jdeveloper\j2ee\home\application-deployments\Workspace4-WSWrappers-WS\WebServices\persistence\_pages\_integrate2.java:6: Class webservices.Integrator not found in import.
    import webservices.Integrator;
    ^
    1 error, 1 warning
This error does not happen when using the embedded OC4J server, only when deploying to the standalone. Since leaving JDeveloper up all times to use de app is not an option :) I really would appreciate any help towards solving this matter. I suspect it has to do with deployment options and whatnot, but I can't find anything wrong. Of course, I'm fairly new to this (jsp/OC4J), so it can be an obvious mistake right under my nose.
    thanks
    Javier

Fixed. The problem was my Standalone OC4J was not properly installed, AND I was doin the deplyment wrong. Now it works by creating a war file, deploying to the war file and THEN deploying to the OC4J Standalone connection.
So, if you start seeing "import not found" when deploying to standalone and it works on the embedded, check you war files to see if they REALLY are packing the classes they are supposed to carry.

  • Urgent :deployment to Standalone OC4J failed

    Hi,
I am posting this problem for second time.
It is of utmost importance for me to solve the problem b'coz the whole progress of my project/application depends on successfully working of the application on Standalone OC4J.So can anybody plz help me.
1)I have developed an application using Struts framework(For the View and controller part ) and EJBs. When I run this application using the Embedded OC4J provided with JDeveloper,it runs fine. But when I try to deploy the same to the StandAlone OC4J(which I downloaded from OTN) or to the Application Server,I get the following error
--503 Service Unavailable,Servlet error: Parsing error processing resource path ---
    2)The StandAlone OC4J version is 9.0.4.0.0 and I used JDK 1.4.
3)The same application runs fine when deployed to StandAlone OC4J when I developed it using only JSPs and EJB.
4)I even added the different libs for Struts inside WEB-XML folder under my Application Folder Structure.
5)The StandAlone OC4J Server runs fine and displays the First Page when it is started.
6)I even installed a totally new StandAlone OC4J and deployed all my previous applications to this new server. All the applications except where I used Struts Framework ran fine.

  • Deploying to standalone OC4J

    hi,
I've got the same problem as below, but saw no answer - can anyone help???
I have gone through all the steps to deploy on standalone OC4J 10 g. I started the oc4j from Command line and from the IDE when i right click my <appname>.deploy and choose "Deploy to <a connection>" in the log window i see that deployment is complete and it gave me a context root (http://nv1665:8888/webapp2). I used that context to open in the browser but the page is not accessible. I get an access denied! "HTTP Error 403 - Forbidden Internet Explorer"
Is there a security issue with oc4j that I have overlooked?
    thanks for your time,
    diane

got - wasn't referring to the complete deployment name...

  • Can't Complete Deployment to OC4J Standalone

I have successfully deployed 3 projects to OC4J standalone on a Win2k box. I have now set up OC4J on a Sun box. I have deployed 2 of the (basic) web apps sucessfully, but the third, which consists of an EJB/BC4J project and a servlet/JSP project, does not completely deploy. All files are written to the correct directories as far as I can see, but the app info is not written to the config files. In JDev, there are no messages after the deployment command line. It hangs until I kill the admin tool.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Can you verify the JAVA_HOME, sometime, when you deploy an EJB application, OC4J need compile it.

  • Can Jdeveloper TP4 deploy apps to OC4J standalone TP4

I tried to have JDeveloper TP4 deply my ADF web app to the latest OC4J standalone version but I get the following error:
Caused by: java.lang.InstantiationException: Import was not resolved for riscs.root:0.0.0: shared library "adf.oracle.domain" could not be found.

         at com.evermind.server.ApplicationStateRunning.initializeApplication(ApplicationStateRunning.java:179)
         at com.evermind.server.Application.setConfig(Application.java:538)
Before I spend alot of time debugging is this currently supported or can I only use the OC4J shipped with JDeveloper?
    Thanks.

The sad part about this thread is that we seem to be talking about completely separate products, like they are from different companies. I have not been given the secret decoder ring to determine which parts of the suite really work together or when the magic convergence will occur. From a client/customer perspective these are part of an Oracle suite of applications, and I can assure you that clients have spent significant amounts of money and have an expectation (which was sold to them) that that all parts of the suite work together "seamlessly".
I think everyone using TP releases understands and accepts a certain amount bugs and integration issues, however I have been working with 11G components for almost a year and I sometimes wonder if Oracle really understands the stress created on consultants when the "right-hand" does not seem to notice what the "left-hand" is doing.
Our project requires JSF/ADFFaces, Rules, XML, WebServices, ORM(Toplink/EclipseLink?), JEE5 Container, SVN version control integration at a minumum. It has been a monumental effort to create even prototypes to show our client progress toward the vision that was sold. We are continually being told that all will be good when all the products become production. This is a very big risk where failure is paid for by consulting not product.

  • Difference between OC4J Standalone & IIS for BI Presentation services

    Hi experts,
i had this question in my mind for last couple of weeks and did not get good answer by self study.
my understanding with IIS & OC4J server is,
1.if BI Presentation services is setup to IIS Webserver, It is also using OC4J as application server, because IIS is just an HTTP Server where the presentation services also need an Application server which is OC4J for OBIEE. Is this true.
2.if the IIS Server is only HTTP Server, what is OC4J and standlone OC4J for OBIEE.
i think the difference between IIS and OC4J is ( true or false)
    1. oc4j or oc4j Standalone is application server( contains OC4J Instance(J2EE) and HTTP Server)
    2. oc4j itself has a an HTTP server which is used if we dont plan to deploy IIS Webserver.
    3. IIS server is only HTTP which can be used in Production environments and will still use OC4j as application server.
MY question is how to configure IIS server and configuration files and oc4j if we plan to deploy a environment like this.
i followed OBIEE installtion documents and did not get a clear picture.
there is something called PLUG-IN's (iis plugin and j2ee plugin ) which is used if we deploying on IIS and OAS(WEBLOGIC)
this is is my understanding and Please Correct me if i am wrong
    thanks
    kumar

The error was in the execution of OC4J embebbed. OC4J uses its own libraries for web services and xml.
You can deploy an application with JAX-WS 2.0 if you add this java option:
    -Xbootclasspath/p:<dir_libs>\xml-apis.jar;<dir_libs>\xercesImpl.jar;<dir_libs>\xalan.jar;<dir_libs>\saaj.api.jar
And the jars of JAX-WS are added as libraries to the application.
With this solution you solve the problem: OC4J uses this libraries, not their owns, include the xml libraries.

  • Difference between oc4j 10.1.3.1 and oc4j standalone 10.1.3.2

    Hi ,
I have created an Application in OC4j standalone 10.1.3.2 which is working fine. Now i am trying to deploy the same application in oc4j 10.1.3.1 which is bundled with Application Server 10g Release 3 (10.1.3.x) and it deploys successfully.
But when i run the application it does allow some transaction with the Database(not all as i am able to login). are there any difference in bundled JAR files that might be causing this issue?
    Any help is appreciated.

    Update:
I compared all the JAR files from standalone OC4j with the ones bundled with OAS OC4J.
    Only a few files differed.
I was able to isolate oc4j-internal.jar. If i copy oc4j-internal.jar of standalone OC4j to OAS Oc4j folder then my app seems to run fine.
What is the significance of this file? also, will my upgrading of this file affect other apps deployed earlier in the OAS server? Please advise.
    Regards,
    Swen

  • What is OC4J StandAlone?

    Hey Techies,,,,
OC4J standalone is a distribution of Oracle Application Server product that contains just the J2EE and Web Services components. OC4J standalone is much smaller than the full Oracle Application Server product and is downloaded as a single zip file. It is executed as a single Java process.
OC4J standalone is J2EE 1.3 compatible and is able to be used in both development and small scale production environments. OC4J standalone provides its own inbuilt HTTP/S listener to allow clients to execute Web applications that it has deployed. Application deployment and server configuration of OC4J standalone is performed by the manual editing of a simple set of XML files.
For large scale enterprise deployments, the Oracle Application Server product is likely to be more suitable with its comprehensive feature set including Oracle HTTP Server, process monitoring and management capabilities, and its configuration and management console.
IF THERE IS ANYTHING TO BE ADDED PLEASE ADD...
    Thanks-San

    It may be too obvious:
    - OC4J standalone is a full J2EE container.
    - It runs as a java application and you need to start it from the command line like java -jar oc4j.jar
    - From 10.1.3 it includes a management console.
    - As every J2EE container OC4J can run a number of J2EE applications which include EJBs, Servlets, JSPs, JSF and WebServices.
    - Nearly the same J2EE container is included in Application Server (AS) but as has a number of additional features like opmn which takes care of starting OC4J containers when needed, eg when it crashes.
    - With AS you manage more then one OC4J container while with Standalone you usually run one OC4J from the command line.

  • PDK & OC4J Standalone Development Environment

    Hello Portal Gurus,
I now seek the knowledge of setting up a development environment where I can register and test portlets. As of now I understand that you need to download and install the OC4J Standalone version. Once OC4J is installed follow the directions to add PDK support. I have registered my portlet provider and viewed the portlet provider's "congradulations page". Since then I have found out that you can test specific pages e.g. (Show, Edit, Help) by editing a properties page and setting the parameter testPageURI to the apporpriate page. The portlet runs fine until I try to set links to other pages in the deployed WAR (using UrlUtils), use PDK objects (PortletRenderRequest is null), and use PDK API's. Is there a way to test indivdual portlets (not providers) like they have in the portlet repository page in Oracle ias. Test the edit mode, show mode, and preview mode etc. I know I can change the testpageURI parameter but PDK functionality (objects, API's) just don't work.
    thanks!

    Hello Harsha,
I could and have developed and tested my portlets against an Oracle AS Portal instance. Performance becomes a problem when I do remote development. It takes approximately 15 minutes to deploy a portlet via a broadband vpn connection vs. 1 minute when deploying my portlets via a LAN. (A 9 MB upload is slow). If I can develop and test my portlets on my local machine it would greatly reduce the time it takes to complete the development cycle.
    Thanks!
